Hotel Du Parc - Saumur

Stayed 2 nights at Du Parc with two adults and one teenager. Booked two rooms first night as no triples available. These were well appointed with large beds, although thick duvets a little hot for August - needed air con on. Had booked 'family' room for 2nd night - on arrival was told family room had a problem so was offered a triple room near reception for 2nd night. This was an older room, but well appointed and much bigger than the average triple room. Had dinner in restaurant first night and was so impressed with quality of food and service that decided to eat there 2nd night as well. Breakfast was good on both days with plenty of choice. Staff in hotel were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Wifi was available. Would certainly stay in this hotel again - either for an overnight or longer.

Hotel seemed to be a mecca for the cycling fraternity all of whom seemed to be enjoying the place. The staff were brilliant and the restaurant excellent.Oh and the air-conditioning was most welcome as the temperature when we arrived was 32 degrees!

Nice people who gave good service. Breakfast was simple but acceptable. Free WiFi which is always a good thing for a hotel to offer. Surroundings not so good as out of town in an industrial area but on this occasion this was a benefit as there was a festival in Saumur and town was noisy. Overall very good and I would use it again

Excellent hotel, welcoming, clean room, good restaurant at a reasonable price, helpful staff. The hotel is on the north side of the Loire adjacent to a business park, looks a bit off-putting but once inside all ok. easy to find and cheap petrol at nearby supermarket. good base to explore the area.

Nice family rooms newly renovated. Quiet and clean hotel situated outside Saumur. Suitable for people with a car. Excellent diner.

Excellent Hotel, the owners have operated the Du Parc since March 2009 could not have been more friendly and helpful, forget any earlier reviews this place is great. Perfect for driving holiday with plenty of parking but is some distance from centre of the lovely Saumur in an uninteresting location on edge of town. The owner has established a top quality restaurant at the hotel with great food, good wine list, at a very good price. The staff speak English, are eager to help, friendly and efficient and enjoy their work. Perfect place to stay to enjoy the real France of the Loire.

The rooms at the Hotel Du Parc were clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel for couples who are happy to use this as a base as the hotel is quite far out of Saumur and has no leisure facilities.

Hotel close to autoroute and excellent for a stopover. Very easy short drive into centre of Saumur. We live in France and speak French but think staff might have changed since previous reviews as the proprietess spoke good English as did one of the waiters. The menu and room information had English translation. One point to note. My husband uses a stick and when we booked in we were allocated a second floor room. As description had stated disabled access I had presumed there would be a lift but there wasn't. Though my husband said he would manage, she immediately reallocated us a ground floor room which was wheelchair friendly with huge bathroom. However as the hotel was full had we checked in late this would not have been possible so do state on booking if ground floor needed. Excellent meal enjoyed on comfortable garden terrace. Breakfast also excellent. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Reasonable accommodation for overnight stay

I could not communicate with my hosts because of language issues. My French is poor as is their English

We booked in sommer high season '08 a family room (four beds) for one night. It was just a perfect stay, clean rooms, friendly personal, not to expensive. If ever we have the chance to go back to saumur, i'll stay there again.

Only used as overnight stop but perfect for that. The hotel looked to be positioned very well for a longer stay. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Will use again when in the area.

We returned to saumur after 7yrs to see how we felt about it as it was our first visit to france, now living here for 6yrs we really enjoyed it, the staff of the hotel ran it with military precision & nothing was too much for them, always smiling & very helpfull & the food was exceptional, i would change two things to give it 11 out of 10, we brits like at least two cups of tea in the morning but there were no small jugs to put milk in just tea cups, & in our bathroom there was a shower head but low on the side wall, if it had been put up high we could have had a shower much better & important for the older people,with out doubt we will return again to this hotel as it was on the main road into saumur very easy, thank you vic scott

This hotel is great for a stopover, it's very close to the Autoroutes. It had a motel feel to it, and people did arrive and check in and out in the middle of the night, so it was a bit noisy. At the front there was a flashing neon sign, but if you had the shutters down it was fine. The rooms have a platform and stairs for the extra 2 beds, it was a quadruple. The breakfast was good value 7 Euro, very nice. Overall really good value.

Room for 4 is perfect for family with kids. The hotal staff is very helpful

Ideally placed just 5 minutes north on the main road out of the beautiful town of Saumur. Have stayed at the du Parc several times, never been disappointed.

Welcoming was perfect:as we reached almost midnight, we were still waited!

Too far out of town for cyclists

This hotel provides excellent value for money and if you are travelling with a vehicle it is an ideal stay or base to discover many of the region's offerings. The front desk staff don't speak anything other than French but they are quite pleasant. No elevator.. restaurant is not open to hotel guests on the weekend.

A little distant from downtown Saumur, but this was more than made up for by the quality of the room and price. Great parking. Room was immaculate and spacious.

I wouldn't rush back. The manager was unshaven and looked scruffy but friendly. The location by a car wash and industrial park was awful. And the TV stations in the rooms are all in French. Why is there no English language international news station; CNN, BBC, or Sky? No TV entertainment for European travellers passing through who don't speak French. The manager and his wife didn't speak a word of English between them which I thought was strange considering the work they do with foreign visitors. Me, I'd never stay there again. Bit of a dump by my standards but the manager and his wife were friendly.

The shower was hopeless, as it was sited at waist height and not fixed properly and fired water all over the floor. Bathrooms are the mostimportant thing in hotels especially for wives !!

This is a very nice hotel but it is not within walking distance of the centre of Saumur. You need to drive into town although it only takes about 5 minutes. The hotel bar/public area closes rather early at around 11.00pm.

The restaurant and dinner were excellent. The room was good value for money and it is one of teh few hotels in which I have stayed that have rooms for five - it makes everything easier with a large family. My only negative comment was that when I read detials about the hotel I thougth it would be closer to the town.

We booked 2 rooms but only one had air conditioning.

Excellent value, lovely rooms, very nice meals and staff very welcoming. Only improvement would be air-conditioning. Will recommend it to others and will definitely be back.
