Hotel San Carlos - Santiago de Compostela

As other reviewers state this is the best value in Santiago. Just a much better hotel than others in it's price range. Book early, our only issue was some uncharacteristically late night inconsiderate Spanish yobs (4am) who interfered with our sleep and didn't care!

Very nice clean comfortable hotel. 10 min walk to city center. Some noises from the street.

Buona la posizione: solo una breve passeggiata verso il centro storico. Il personale corretto nei modi e competente (risolti al meglio un paio di problemi anche con l'uso di internet). L'albergo è moderno ma si direbbe più un 2 stelle. Piccole le camere e talmente essenziali da offrire scarse comodità. Inoltre, nelle 2 camere frequentate - a un prezzo molto buono - mancavano mini-bar, cassaforte ed altro indicato nella descrizione della struttura.

Lovely clean comfortable hotel. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Good location-10 -15 min walk to Cathedral- city centre. 5 minutes from railway station. Near bus stop to connect with bus station. Santiago a great location and great centre, from which to tour Galicia. Great connections on public transport. Lovely historic friendly city. Close to everything.

Good hotel; staff is polite and skilled

Santiago de Compostela was everything we expected and more, the hotel Sancarlos was well situated for the Old Town and its attractions and for the varied selection of bars and resturants in the area (Bar Paris is really worth a visit the staff are very friendly) It was a pleasure to go out in the evening as the locals really made you feel at home and even let us practice our Spanish on them!! If you feel adventourous then a trip from the local station is really worth while.

Very nice hotel for the price. Situated in walking distance to the old town. Room located on busy street, and because there was no air conditioning, window had to stay open. Traffic started early in the morning. Shower head not working. Bathroom otherwise adequate.

Our rooms were quiet and comfortable and very clean. The hotel is situated well- only about 5-10 minutes easy walk to the old town. Staff were polite. Our breakfasts were good. We enjoyed our stay here. Just a couple of minor critisisms- We felt that it would have been useful if the hotel had a little more information on local places of interest for visitors. Also their information stated breakfast started at 7.00 - but in fact we were not able to get breakfast until 7.30.

Best hotel ever! please if you are visiting Compostela dont hesitate with this hotel! 80 euro per night in one of the most beautiful hotels ever!

I was travelling with a friend and we had walked 3 days on the Camino. The breakfast was very good. All in all an excellent end to our mini pilgrimage. I recommend the Derby for that end of day Soberano

Although hotel advertised in each room that there was a cafeteria open & gave opening times this facility was not available while we were there.It only opened for breakfast.no explaination given.One receptionist was helpful but other two were very distant.

Nice cosy laid back hotel with good breakfast and clean attractive rooms and off-room areas.

The rooms were pleasant and clean but the hotel is very noisy, sound transmits from room to room and from floors above and below. We even had two guests having a discussion in the floor lobby area at 2am that woke us up it was so loud! LOcation is about 20 minutes walk uphill to the Cathedral and old town.

Hotel San Carlos, Santiago de Compostela. A very good location within easy walk of the historic centre. Added advantage in a city centre was the concessionary car park across the road. The Hotel was excellent, clean and comfortable, with very good quality beds. It was also near to the station for rail travellers. For car drivers it was easy to find by following the Parliament signs. Only the breakfast and the size of the public areas were a notch off excellent, but given the star rating and the price it was still more than acceptable.

My daughter and I enjoyed the room and hospitality at the San Carlos. It was an easy walk to the cathedral, shops, and the old town. The beds were great after 30 days on the camino. I would have liked a restaurant on site and the breakfast was not substantial for the price. However the San Carlos is close to many good restaurants. As we walked into town it would have been nice to have a little map showing how to get to the hotel from the camino.
