Aqua Hotel Aquamarina - Santa Susanna

We were not satisfied with this hotel. Our room was ok but falling apart. The shower fixture was very loose and we were afraid it might pull away from the wall. We came back to our room after it had been cleaned and found the part you use to flush the toilet had broken off while being cleaned. The maid had to have known this as the part was neatley placed on the tank. We had to call and have the toilet fixed. The blanket on the bed was not the best and looked as if it needed a good cleaning. For some reason we could handle these things but the worse was the food. We ate lunch there upon arriving the first day and it was terrible. The breakfast was horrible. The only thing we could count on as being eatable was the yogurt,cold cereal if you liked sugared pop things and chocolate rice crispies. They ran out of museli on the thrid day we were there and we felt it was the only cereal worth eating. The eggs were cooked on a high temperature and had crispy bottoms. The different sausages tasted like they had fillers in them. Oh, the breads were good and how can you go wrong with some fresh fruit. Over all I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Well, it might be ok but just don't eat there.

Apart from the loud techno music played at the swimming pool & slight cramped conditions when at the pool, the hotel itself I had no concerns about and is a standard 3 star. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Santa Susanna is however possible the worst resort I have ever visited & we left after two days (intended to stay for eight). It is an urban jungle of mayhem. To get to the beach you have to cross a street full of tacky market stalls, people braiding hair and placing henna tattoos at every available opportunity, go through an underpass which is filled with grafitti, over a train line. Spanish Chavs are there in their 100's. Of the two best resuarants recommended to us, one was ok (albeit with loud music in the back ground) the second had paper plates and benches. We couldn't actually find anymore along the promenade. As a 28 & 30 year old who are very much up for socialising and experiencing an enjoyable holiday wishing for a relaxing daytime and a night of nice meals and a few drinks, this was a town that we checked out pretty much as soon as we could. We ended up in Sitges which cost 3 euros to get to on the train and took about an hour and a half. Sitges had as many restaurants and bars as one would wish for on a holiday and would strongly recommend going there instead.

We stayed in a "quad" room with our 8 and 19 year olds and it was a bit tight, but the room was nice, clean, had a small fridge and all in all was very nice. We drove north and visited some small towns and walked the beaches. Very nice area.

No fridge in the room. Be carefour at dinner. If you not buy dinner in advance at the hotel restaurant, the drink is not included in the price (little disturbance when you realize it during your dinner).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Aquamarina. All staff were friendly and helpful, the whole complex was clean and appealing. Great value for money. Easy access into Barcelona on the train.

I was very satisfied with the service offered and I found that the location of this hotel is perfect for outdoor walks and its beautiful pool offers a great surrounding for relaxing. From what I saw it was perfect even for families which seemed do have a terrific time with their children. Next year I would like to return to the same hotel for my holidays.
