exterior Hotel La Vela (Castello il Rifugio) exterior The Hotel La Vela is a little castle built at the end of 19th century on the quiet green area slightly on the hill at about ten minutes walk from the centre of Santa Margherita Ligure and only 4 km. from Portofino. Its wonderful sight-seeing is extended all over the Tigullio Gulf, from Sestri Levante to Portofino and through the Cinque Terre until La Spezia.
From the 1th of July all rooms will be air conditioned.
The hotel has a wireless interten connection.

Santa Margherita Ligure is at about 30 Km. Eastwards from Genoa. Located in the centre of the "Tigullio Gulf" and at the bottom of the Portofino Mount, you can easily reach it with any kind of transportation.
nce you reach Santa Margherita Ligure, you will easily find the Hotel La Vela. In the city centre, coming from Rapallo, follow the directions to San Lorenzo della Costa (also following the panels to Genova). About 500 meters further on the hill you will find us on your left side. Coming from Genoa (and /or taking the highway exit of Recco) on the National Street Via Aurelia (SS1) follow the panels to Santa Margherita Ligure. You will find us on your right side, just before reaching the centre.

Nous recommandons cet hotel qui a beaucoup de caractère et qui offre de très belles vues sur la ville et la mer. L'accueil est très correct et le petit déjeuner très bien.Nous avons pu nous garer sur le parking de l'hotel ce qui est très pratique.

I have never had owner family of a hotel, who where obviously afraid of their customers. Extreme reserved, no personal approach. Additionally there was parking problem, it does not help when the owners park 3 cars where one was a big SUV.

Todo muy bien,el unico problema es el estacionamento,solo hay sitio para 5 coches y el hotel esta hubicado en una colina. De todas maneras lo recomendaria a cualquiera y seguramente regresaremos !

Hotel Vela was a great property for the price. I love charming old properties and this one fit the bill. Back rooms are small and dark but I was able to upgrade to a front room with a balcony and view of the sea for 50E more and it was worth every cent. Street and train noise could be a problem but I always wear earplugs so it didn't bother me. Reception was ok but it would be nice to have a person more dedicated to answer questions or have some written material giving advice about the area: Things to do and see and restaurants not to be missed etc. We wanted to have cocktails on the balcony one evening and it was difficult to get any ice. It's an easy walk to town and to the train station ( not with luggage ) and the ferry dock so Portofino and cinque terra were easy to access.

one of the nicer places we stayed at during a 3 week trip to italy. outstanding view of the mediterranean from bedroom window. english speaking staff - competent & pleasant to deal with. a couple of negatives - near train tracks, so train noise at night, also, the taxi rides to & from the train station cost 15 euro, even though it was a fairly short distance (less than a mile).all in all, we would highly recommend this hotel.

METHODS OF PAYMENT
