Our first visit to Santa Margherita which we thoroughly enjoyed. The hotel was excellent - we were made most welcome by the helpful and friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was varied, plentiful and tasty. The location suited us well being handy for the sea front and station. Fully recommended and we would not hestitate to stay again.

A delightful and gorgeous accommodation in a likewise gorgeous city. The hotel even upgraded us to a deluxe suite at no extra charge. Both warm and hospitable, it was a pleasure to stay in such luxury accommodation, with helpful reception and yummy breakfast included. Very charming and loved the use of bikes at our leisure too! Our stay of 3 days was certainly worth it.

The hotel was very nice with a helpful staff, a very good breakfast and a perfect location about a 6 min walk from the train station and a 3 min walk from the town center, but just far enough away to not hear the noise of either.

This hotel is more 4 star than 3 star. It is within 5-10 mins walking from train station, harbour, restaurants and shops. The room was bright and airy with a balcony and the floors were carpeted which meant there was no noise from the rooms above. The breakfast was one of the best I have had in 12 months of traveling in Italy. The only problem I found was the street was very busy and noisy so bring ear-plugs with you. The staff were all very helpful.

This hotel is GREAT. The staff are so nice and friendly. The location is perfect for everything in town and getting to the beach. One of the best things is taking one of their bicycles and riding along the coast! It is really fun and such a nice way to see the surrounding areas or to go to Portofino. Another added bonus is that they give you beach towels, though the towels could use a little updating. I stayed here twice because I liked it so much the first time. I would recommend trying to get a room on one of the upper floors as it is a little more away from the street, though the street is not really that busy. The first time I stayed, I spent the extra 10-20 euros per night for a deluxe and it got me a huge wrap-around balcony. Really nice. But the regular room is fine as well, though small. That said, you should not be spending much time there in such a beautiful town! The breakfast is really good for a hotel breakfast. They even have prosecco for mimosas or bellinis. Lots of options to eat and fresh peaches, etc. The only bad thing about breakfast is the espresso. Really grainy and the only bad espresso I had in Italy! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. For the price range, it must be the best you can get.

I was a little disappointed when arriving and seeing our room. a little run down, small and noisy...beds fairly uncomfortable, loud A/C unit. However, Paula at the reception desk was great and very helpful with train itineraries, restaurant recommendations...Zuppa in the heart of town was great..the chef "Margarita" was wonderful. The breakfasts were very good with amazing cappuccino (best we had in Italy) and the Sat night reception on patio was a lovely surprise. So the experience was good overall. Don't book this is you are used to the Ritz, but for a good location at a pretty good price and a more authentic Italian experience this works.

Breakfast and breakfast room were wonderful. Carpeting in elevator was not clean. Bedroom was good. The bathroom and shower were small. Bathroom floor was green linoleum and had a metal circle on the floor approximately 3 - 4 inches in diameter which seemed to be a release for liquid.Probable some type of plumbing trap. It also let off an odor. This hotel was a little more expensive(130 euro)than others we stayed at, and didn,t offer the same modern facilities. The location being only two blocks from the ferry and town was excellent as well as its location between Portofino and Rapallo. bon giorno.

The first impression was not good. The room seemed tiny and the bathroom even smaller and the room hot and noisy. But once we got unpacked and figured out there was air conditioning, it was pleasant. Small, but we weren't in room much. The staff was very friendly, however the girls at the front desk during the day are the only ones who speak fairly fluent English. So brush up on your Italian. It is a GREAT location...close to train station and to centre of town and water. Also easy to get to many different areas w/in a couple of hours, so great place to have your "home base" if you want to travel that area...only a couple of hours by train to Lake Como, Pisa, Milan, etc. Cinqueterra is a must do and only about 20 minutes by train. I fell in love with the town...you get a real flavor of the "non-touristy" Italy. May is a GREAT time to travel to Europe, weather is great and crowds haven't arrived yet (except school trips!) For Americans, I would say this is definitely a 3 star property, but given the value of the dollar, it's worth it's price!

After the description/appreciation read on Internet from other customers I was quite disappointed: the hotel was very noisy (no double glass on windows and very thin walls so we had noise from the road and from inside the hotel. The room was very small. Moreover the matrass of the bed was very hard so we didn't sleep well at all. However the employees were kind and polite and the hotel area is nice. Breakfast was good. Overall we found expensive for little comfort.

The hotel staff was really excellent -we were there for New Year's weekend, and they gave us a great recommendation for a New Year's party. Also, be sure to take advantage of the free hotel bikes and ride to Portofino - it is an easy ride along the coast. We were with a couple, and there was a bit of a difference in room sizes - our room was fairly spacious (Room 101), while theirs was much smaller but had a balcony (Room 203). The rooms were a bit pricey, but this whole area is just expensive.

My husband and I took an overnight jaunt to Italy during our recent French vacation and had the pleasure of staying at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious, especially compared to our rooms in France. Our room was clean, bright and had a lovely corner window view. They also have a wonderful terrace w/ a great view. The only negative was our room faced the main street which proved to be quite noisy with all the traffic coming up from the water. All-in-all, we'd stay here again.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel and the area. The hotel really was only a 5 minute walk from the train station and very convenient to the rest of the city. Our room (310) was very clean and spacious with a little living room area. The hotel offered a complimentary happy hour on Saturday night in their garden patio which was very nice. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. We were given 4 star treatment so we really enjoyed our stay. (Review by Donna Corless. This was my first time in Santa Margherita, and I only wish we could have stayed longer. They staff was beyond accommodating; they would offer to do things before I even thought to ask. The room was exactly as pictured. Although small, it had a great bed & pillows, fine linens, plush towels (as opposed to the oversized dishrags at our Rome & Florence hotels), a shower with good water pressure & plenty of hot water and two doors that opened onto a wraparound balcony. The breakfast buffet was lovely, and when we ordered drinks in the late afternoon, they brought us an assortment of appetizers. The town was not "touristy" despite having plenty of tourists. The hotel was a few short blocks from the water, and a great value.
