THE ROOMS WHERE NICE, BUT NOISY, BECAUSE THE HOTEL IS ON A VERY CROWDED STREET, CAN'T OPEN THE WINDOWS. TO BE IN FRONT OF A BEAUTIFUL BEACH AND NOT HAVE THE POSSIBILITY TO OPEN THE WINDOWS IS VERY BAD. THIS DOESN'T DEPEND BY THE HOTEL FOR SURE. WE WHERE IN A ROOM AT THE FIRST FLOOR AND THE WITH THE DOOR ON THE BALCONY OPEN NOT ONLY NOISE BUT SMOG TOO FROM BUS STOP IN FRONT WAS COMING IN TO THE ROOM. THE BREAKFAST WAS REALLY POOR FOR A 4 STARS HOTEL, EVERY MORNING SHORT OF THINGS THAT NEED TO BE ASKED TO ONLY TWO PERSON OF STAFF REALLY BUSY IN CLEANING AND PREPARING TABLES. SHORTAGE OF YOGURTS, COLD DRINKS (INCLUDING WATER), FRUITS AND SO ON EVERYTHING SERVED DISTILLED. THE HOTEL IS NOT BARRIER FREE, IS NOT THE HOTEL FOR PEOPLE WHIT WHEELCHAIR. LAST BAD THINK, IS THE INTERNET CONNECTION THAT WAS WORKING VERY BAD AND VERY EXPENSIVE, WHEN IN MANY HOTELS IN OTHER COUNTRIES GIVE INTERNET CONNECTION FREE OF CHARGE, IN A 4 STARS HOTEL, FOR THE COST OF THE ROOM INTERNET SHOULD BE INCLUDED.

The hotel building is as nice as the website shows but the picture does not show the main road (Rapallo to Portofino) running in front of the building. Fortunately the thick window panes blocked out the noise from our standard suite living room (need to get deluxe suite for a balcony). On the same subject the bedroom which is in the back is right above a pedestrian zone which can be rather noisy (although we have the ability to fall asleep watching TV so this was not a major issue). Perhaps more disturbing are the web pictures of "nice" rooms which are not necessarily representative of the room you may get. Basically this "italian" 4 star hotel corresponds to a 3 star elsewhere. The furniture seems to go back to the 50s or 60s. I understand it was totally reconstructed so that all rooms have a sea-view. However to do that the hallways resemble a cruise ship hallway with stairs to access the rooms. I assume this was necessary to have the bathroom built underneath the hallway. The hotel prices seemed aligned to other local 4 star hotels: 200 euros for a room, 250 standard suite, etc. Looking at alternatives it seems you can get a nice room at the 5 star Imperiale Palace which will set you back approx. 380 Euros a night. Among other local 4 stars it seems the Best Western Hotel Laurin would be a better choice to the Lido Palace or eventually the Continental. To finish off with this hotel the service was excellent, the breakfast buffet limited but the croissants and coffee were fine for us. We did enjoy our dinner there one night with good wine by the glass although my wife thought the small mussels from Sardaigna could have been a little fresher. Parking is an issue in Santa Margherita but we have found this to be true throughout Italy. Plan on paying 25 euros/day at hotels or in town parking garages and stick to local transportation. Off course if you do your homework you will realize that the expensive italian riviera is an ideal location for visiting Cinque Ter

A very odd hotel with rooms which are unusually designed being split by a lower florr level in the middle and obviously intended for self-catering. The beach opposite is across the main road, not exclusive to the hotel and stony

I thought the hotel was nice and great location but desk staff weren't very helpful. Also when we ordered room service they didn't have ingredients to make the simple dish.
USA, Oct 2008
The location is excellent and the quality of service was very high. In all, an excellent experience. Our only problem with the room is there was a lot of street noise, both front & back. This is probably not a problem for urban dwellers, but was a little tough for us suburbanites.
Greece, Oct 2008
Need more stylish renovation. Cheap white plastic chairs on the balconies. Excellent location, straight on the beach.

We were surprised that the Hotel did not have a private beach, which we were led to believe from the website. However, the private beaches are all located directly across the street so that was fine. The Hotel was great for a perfect vacation in Santa Margherita.

This was our first visit and we would definitely stay again and recommend to others. There was some noise in the room but only when the windows were open to the outdoors because it is located on the main street but this was not an issue when sleeping as the windows were closed. There is no noise from adjacent rooms. There were stairs between the living area and sleeping area which were only noticable because our legs were sore from walking the Cinque Terre! The hotel is centrally located and across the street from the public beach. It does not have its own private beach but you can pay to use a private beach just steps away. The breakfast was plentiful and very satisfying. We ate one night in the hotel diningroom and the food was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Great breakfast with a good selection. Best location out of all the hotels in the area the beach was across the road and the train station was a 5 min walk. very noisy at night is the only complaint that can be made.

Disappointing stay. The hotel is across from a beach, but it is a rather dirty and generally unappealing one. The rooms are overpriced (and weirdly configured, with steps between the bedroom and living room) and the staff not particularly helpful, steering us towards touristic restaurants rather than quality ones.
USA, Jul 2007
The rooms require that you walk up 7 steps or down 7 steps. All rooms are suites, and require you to walk up stairs (or down) to the bathroom from the sitting room to the bed room. The TV is in the sitting room-- rooms are dreary.

Very fine hotel accross street from the beach. Location was excellent for local walking and swimming. Small balcony overlooking the sea was a nicety. Is within walking distance from train station if you don't mind several stairs and hills: otherwise, expect a 15 euro taxi fare for a ride of about 2 minutes.

Great location and wonderful views. Price for hotel parking actually was four blocks away from the hotel and was over 20 Euros per night.

We had a junior suite. The view of the Bay of Tugullio was fantastic and the hotel is right on the main strada across from the beach. Close to everything.

The Lido Palace is smack across the street from the beach and Italian Riviera. Reminded us of Nice on a smaller scale. A short bus ride from Portofino, a small sleepy fishing village habitated by the rich and famous during season. Well worth the visit. Numerous places to eat within short walking distance to the hotel.

Really good hotel, position, room was the seventh heaven (the roof suite, with an unbelieveable terrace in front of the sea). The only negative sensation was due to receptionists, which were not gentle nor amical at all, it was such a hurting thing to have to do with them. The rest of the personnel was fine.

We arrived on Sunday afternoon, and boy, were we surprised!! It was exactly what we were promised!! The front desk staff was extremely helpful with the check-in process as well as help with local information. They assisted with dinner reservations, travel arrangements, etc. The restaurant where you eat breakfast is also a must for dinner one night. Also visit Antonios. It's off the main drag, but worth the walk. Two thumbs up for this property!!

The Lido was right in the center of everything. Easy to get the bus and train for day trips. The hotel management was very nice and the restaurant in the hotel was wonderful for dinner.

We stayed in the junior suite which is lovely! The photographs of the hotel on the site are very clever: This hotel is NOT directly on the beach, there is a main road inbetween! However rooms has excellent double glazing, so noise not a problem. Great views and the town is very charming. Breakfast in bed is excellent!

Very nice old European styly hotel with a staircase from the lobby up 7 flights that is worth a look every time you go in or out. Great breakfast buffet and very nice small bar off of the lobby. Location in historic Genoa couldn't have been better.
