This small, cramped hotel is owned and managed by a obnoxious, condescending British woman. Jane will treat you with disdain while enforcing her petty little rules. (No cereal AND eggs for you!) Although mildly entertaining, this act wears thin very quickly. Imagine a Mrs. Bucket and Martha Stewart hybrid, and make your plans to stay elsewhere.

Had a great stay at Fasce. Compared to other Italian properties this was a delight. Jane runs a wonderful B&B with a warm welcome at breakfast this property is highly recommended.

An excellent choice if you want to visit Portofino and the "Five Cities". It is a bit of England ensconced in Italy - the owner is English and the style is Italian. Tea or Wine is served on the balcony and breakfast is delicious.

Street signs make finding the hotel easy. Proprietor suggestions for dinner were excellent. Desk very helpful. Facilities kept in excellent condition. Great breakfast options.

The room is functional, but quite small. The bath room is very, very small. There are all facilities you need. But if you use the one, you hit the other with the knee. On the other hand Jane and the employees are very friendly and obliging. I suppose that´s why the opinions on this hotel differ so much. Anyhow, if I compare the relationship between price and quality to the comfort given for this price in other hotels in Europe it´s very poor. Perhaps one remark for those who still have to decide if they are going to stay in Santa Margherita Ligure: There are free beaches, but mainly with stones or a stone and sand mix. Along the coast we found other places that are more convenient for a beach vacation. The city around the port is very nice and at least on the weekend (we stayed on a saturday)there are different parties and on this day even a modell contest.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Fasce. Only complaint is the owner is extremely officious and it was a constant battle when having a shower keeping the curtain from getting wrapped around you. Would not let either of those things deter me from staying there again though. Had probably the best breakfast at Fasce than anywhere else on our tour of Italy. Would definetly recommend.

Hotel Fasce was a 2 star gem! We stayed at mostly 2 star properties on this trip, and Hotel Fasce was by far the best for hospitality (a porter greeted us and carried our luggage up the steps!), cleanliness and quality of rooms, the flowers and landscaping on the grounds were immaculate, and "Lady Fasce" was very friendly and accomodating. This hotel alone has made us want to return to Santa Margherita. We traveled mid-June with 2 boys, ages 11 and 15.

A most pleasant stay. A short 5 min walk from the train station to be welcomed warmly into this hotel. Room did not have air conditioning but did supply a fan. My wife & I felt that air conditioning was not required at the time of year we stayed here (end of June). Rooms were very clean as was the spacious bathroom. Positioning in town was great. Would highly recommend.

Excellent value for the location. We would definitley stay with Hotel Fasce again. Jane was a great hostess, and made us feel like she knew us and was expecting us upon our arrival. Also, her breakfast was exceptional, the best on our entire trip. A must stay.

Fasce is a beautiful small hotel. Jane and her staff were very gracious. I recommend a stay there without hesitation. Take the bus to Portofino and the walk to the lighthouse one morning. Get up early to watch sunrise over Santa Marguerita. Eat at "Da Pessi" ravioli in salsa di noce.

I find the price very expensive for a 2 stars hotel, but it seems to be a normal price in this area, I don't have to compare with France prices which are much more economics!

The hotel was OK. It's located within reasonable distance of the train station, and is close to all the restaurants. The British owner wasn't particularly welcoming however. She worked the front desk most of the time and whenever we ask her a question she made us feel like she was doing us a huge favor...I don't know how some people said she was very friendly!! I would only stay there again if I didn't have to see the lady!

Jane was most welcoming upon our arrival and very helpful with tips on local restaurants and shopping. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Well maintained property with pretty garden terrace to relax in. Would highly recommend.

We were really dissapointed with this hotel, the room was so extremely small with a closet size bathroom. The breakfast was merely a hard roll with one cup of coffee. The front desk staff was definetely court and seemed annoyed with any questions we had. We usually stay at B&B when traveling so we are used to a more friendly and inviting staff. This hotel is definetly not worth the price, I would not recommend it to anyone

We had a great stay in Santa Margherita. It was hot and humid and air conditioning would have been nice, but we had a great time and would come back again.

The proprietor was very friendly at check-in but quickly became rude and condescending. It was extremely hot that day, and when we asked for another fan (there is no A/C), she was very rude and denied our request. Later, we called again for a towel to be replaced, because it was dirty when we got to the room. She assumed that we were just trying to get an extra towel, and she wanted to charge us for it. She eventually agreed to replace the towel for free, but she openly doubted our honesty. She also hung up on me, before I got the chance to tell her that we wanted to leave a day early. When I called back to tell her this, she (again) rudely stated that we'd pay for all the nights. After a while, she called back and said that we wouldn't have to pay, because someone else wanted the room (gee, thanks). This hotel obviously only cares about the money, not providing a hospitable stay for its guests. Our experience was awful.

I loved Fasce. It is a nice little hotel tucked away from the water but close enough to not be a hassle. They were very accomodating and a great welcoming into the Italian leg of our trip.

Overall, everything was wonderful - very clean and manicured. The only area of improvement for the hotel is the bathroom. The shower stall is small and when taking a shower, the shower curtain blows into the stall and sticks to your skin making it challenging to take a shower. Several guests at the hotel expressed our same sentiments during breakfast.

Outstanding staff - friendly and helpful. We particularly appreciated the wine at "happy hour" when all of the quests could compare experiences. This was our second visit and we will definitely return.

The location of the apartment was it's biggest drawing point. The apartment itself was clean, small and basic. From a value for money point of view it was a little overpriced for what was offered.

Our room was fine for an overnight stop though the shower/toilet room was very small. No lift and a tight staircase makes the carrying of luggage a bit of a problem. Car parking at €16 per night is a bit expensive but at least it is in a secure compound.
