Grand Hotel Miramare - Santa Margherita Ligure

The Grand Hotel Miramare was soo wonderful. Our room was gorgeous with a balcony overlooking the sea. We often sat on the balcony in our frette robes and slippers that were provided and watched the comings and goings of the people below. Our view was spectacular and the hotel was more than I expected, with spacious rooms, a very nice bathroom with a tub, and plenty of closet space. Plus, it was a beautiful room and QUIET. The breakfast on the terrace was fantastic and abundant with a buffet that was beautifully presented and delicious. The town of Santa Margherita was a very short walk from the hotel., only three or four minutes, so forget a car or taxi. You can walk everywhere!!! And on the weekends, there is a little fair where locals set up their wares. There was beautiful glassware, jewelry, paintings, a little something for everyone, and a nice way to spend an hour or two, just browsing. You can also walk to Portofino from the hotel, which is about 5 km. it is a gorgeous walk, then you can taxi back. The town of Santa Margherita itself is a lovely little town with good restaurants, very nice local people, and in Sept. not many tourists. It was a perfect stay for us. We were able to relax by the pool or walk directly across the street to the private beach. Our every need was attended to with a smile and a thank you. If you want to relax, this is a great place, or if you want some action, the bars and restaurants are always full of happy people enjoying life. I couldn't have enjoyed my stay at Grand Hotel Miramare any more than I did. And although Santa Margherita isn't Rome or Venice, I would highly recommend a visit to this charming area of Italy. And definitley stay at Grand Hotel Miramare. It's the best place to stay in the entire area. You'll love it!!!!!!

Fantastic stay! Amazing staff...at your side to help in any way:). Oh.. and the bed sheets are to die for:). The views of the Mediterranean are spectacular. If you can, request a seaside room with balcony. You will not be sorry. We hated to leave:(

Our room was exactly as it was photographed on the website.The view from our french-doored balcony was breathtaking. The concierge was most helpful. We loved our huge buffet breakfasts each morning. The hotel is in the north end of the marina, but everything was within walking distance ( however, it best to take a cab from the train station with your suitcases). I would highly recommend the Grand Miramare..because our time there was indeed quite a treat.
