Hotel Astoria7 - San Sebastián

My wife and I arrived in San Sebastian by bus and found the hotel very conveniently located next to the bus depot. It was about a 15 minute walk to the old town but the local bus stopped directly outside the hotel and for 1.55 € you could be in the old town within 5 minutes. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful and spoke English well. One evening they helped arrange a dinner reservation for us. Breakfast was good. The continental selection was fairly comprehensive and included such items as tomato bread and local Basque yogurt. The hot food was cooked to your order and was okay. We stayed in a King room (901) and it was really good. It was probably one of the quietest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. There was plenty of room to move around, enough wardrobe space and hangers, and the bathroom was very clean and modern. My only complaint is that there were only two English TV channels available - one on cable and one on DTV. For a hotel that is based on a cinema theme, perhaps they could run an in-house movie channel in various languages. Overall, our stay at the Astoria7 was very pleasant. For just over 100€ per night, I consider this hotel to be good value

Very clean, comfortable hotel with wonderful staff who were very welcoming and very helpful. Located about 1 - 2 km from new and old city, easy walking. Food and service in the "cafeteria" was several notches above normal for this style of hotel - so much so that it was full of locals on their way to work at breakfast! We enjoyed the stay very much and would definitely return.

Lovely hotel, with excellent facilities and very well designed rooms. It's amazing how difficult it can be in most hotel rooms to find 2 plugs to charge phones/ipads - but not in the Astoria - everything taken care of! ONly fault I could find was the weight of the hairdryer - very heavy - I gave up! The air-conditioning didn't work on our 2nd night - but they probably didn't expect people to want it in October - but hotel rooms can get very stuffy without it. The hotel is an excellent location for the train station and about a 15min walk from main shopping area - with the old town slight further away.

Astoria7 is a great hotel. Clean rooms, friendly staff and good value for money. The old city centre is a 20 minute walk or 6€ taxi ride.

Astoria7 is located close to the bus station, which was a great discovery as we arrived by bus from Bilbao airport. We asked for a quiet room away from the busy street - even though the hotel could not guarantee this in advance (why?), we got a room facing the quiet back yard. Also, as the room was on the 9th floor, we got a large balcony which we enjoyed a lot. The balcony cost us nothing extra in addition to the standard room price. Staff were really nice, and except that the maids never once during our stay cleaned away empty stuff taken from the minibar, service was flawless. Astoria7 is in ok walking distance from the Old City and the beach. We enjoyed having breakfast on different cafés every morning. As most travellers to San Sebastian are aware, this city is the food capital of Europe. Every pintxos-bar tries to excell in serving the best small, local tapas. So we never planned to eat at the hotel - though we did the night we arived, and even the hotel bar served lovelly food. In addition to the pintxos, San Sebastian by far has the highest density of Michelin star-restaurants. We ate at three of them, and where astonnished by the food quality and great ambience at all three restaurants. Travellers should book a table at at least one of these gems. San Sebastian is also home to a very friendly population, always eager to help slightly confused tourists, even though many of them hardly speak a word English. The beach in the middle of the city is fantastic. Would definately go back.

An excellent hotel in a very good location only a short walk from the old town/beach/city centre etc. I travlled with my wife and found it a safe area when walking to and from the hotel at any hour. The hotel was good, clean with excellent facilities. Underground car parking was an added bonus.

Very clean rooms, excellent service by the staff. Free Wi-Fi is always a plus. OK walking distance to the Old Town. Would absolutely book Astoria7 again! San Sebastian was a cosy little town. Nice aquarium, good view of the town from the fortress above. And last but not least, the food was overall very good and fairly priced.

Great location across from bus station. easy walk to old town. Only drawback is lack of restaurants in immediate area. Staff is super helpful and friendly.

Nice hotel. Walking distance to Old Town a little too far, but bus transport as told from the desk was ok alternative.

Great city hotel. Fantastic breakfast, not only the food but also the staff in the breakfast room, very attentive and organised. Also reception staff very friendly and helpfull. We highly recommend!
