This was our first stay and we loved it. The service was excellent, the room comfortable, and the grounds and gardens delightful. We loved San Quirico a small quiet town. A nice retreat from the crowds in Florence and Venice. Would definitely come back.

++ employees (friendly and helpful) ++ atmosphere building (romantic) + breakfast - no elevator and no porter - no clean sheets during 3 night stay -- noisy rooms (old building)

This relais is one of the most charming places I´ve ever been to! The suites are gorgeous, the garden and its chairs are almost like a dream come true. Two things bothered me: as there is no elevator and it was my last stay in Europe, I had 3 suitcases and little help to climb the stairs with them. The 2nd thing, as our suite was on the first floor, we could hear all the conversations that took place on the front desk (late at night or really early in the morning). Other than that, I strongly recommend Palazzo del Capitano!

Great place, one of the best I stayed in Italy (I stayed in many), very good base to drive in Central Tuscany.

The hotel itself is very good looking and indeed very clean. However I could not sleep at all in the night because of the matress which was just horrible and gave me back pain for the entire following day. We also had two cats for the entire night underneath our window busy trying to have kitties...it was not very pleasant I must say, the windows were no where near thick enough.

Desayuno incluido. ---------- It's a nice place to go but a little bit expensive if you look price /quiality. The employers are perfect. There is a good breakfast. You should take the 1st bedroom floor are the biggers and the best (but not choose the bedroom next to the pub). The garden is superb.

A double superior room appeared to be, as far as we could judge probably one of the smallest, and being close to the bar it was difficult to have the window open. However, we did enjoy our stay here but next time I would want more details of the actual room

San Quirico d'Orcia is a tranquil village in Tuscany and is a great place to get away from the bustle of Florence and Siena. We found the hotel staff very welcoming. The hotel's garden is a great hideaway as you relax by the trellices where you can reach up and pick a grape! We found the hotel difficult to locate once we got there and ended up parking the car and walking around - the hotel is within the walled village and you need to park your car in one of the parking areas outside the village. Unfortunately on the Wednesday night we were there, the "Il Vecchio Forma" hotel restaurant was closed - nobody told us. However, we did find "La Bottega di Ciacco" off the main square which more than made up for it.

San Quirico is a beautiful place and the hotel covers a spacious place in this very hospitable town. No better place to stay !

Nice hotel in the heart of San Quirico. I liked the public spaces of the hotel. The breakfast room/Bar is pretty but the outside garden is the real reason to stay here in the warmer months. I stayed in the room called Gemelli and found it very cramped for two people. There was nowhere to put luggage except for the floor, and the clothing storage was limited to an armoir so you really had to live out of a suitcase. This room did have a cool tower room where you could read or take a nap and all the windows had a beautiful view overlooking the garden and the rooftops of S. Quirico. I didn't find any of the day staff to be very friendly but Laura, who works in the evening was always very gracious and helpful. A negative point was this hotel does not have an elevator or a bellman. Our room was on the third floor and was difficult to maneuver with luggage.

Idyllic location from which to tour the hilltowns of southern Tuscany. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

My assessment is negatively affected by the service provided via the online booking service, not the accommodations, which were excellent. After literally over a dozen e-mails to the booking service and after several corrections to the booking summary AND confirmation, the reservation was incorrect upon arrival at the hotel. I will explain why. I initially made a reservation for 3 people in two double rooms. The booking form read one double bedroom for 2 and one double room with two single beds for single use. My daughter then invited a friend to join us, so I contacted the booking service to inform them that we would add a 4th person to my daughters double room (in other words, no change in accommodation was required). I was informed that I had to cancel and rebook in order to make any changes. When I did this, I was informed that there was no accommodation available - this within minutes of cancellation and rebooking. I was eventually given another booking at a higher quoted price which I accepted, but the booking summary still reflected 3 people. The night before I left South Africa I urgently requested confirmation that 4 people were booked, and this was confirmed. On arrival at the hotel however, they had only booked a family room for us, not two rooms as initially requested, and had no idea of the problems we had encountered. We had no choice but the accept the family set up for the four of us. All this because of my being told to cancel in order to change from 3 to 4 people in two double rooms I already had booked. Please get your system sorted out. We would have enjoyed our stay a lot more had my husband and I not slept on a pull out sofa bed. The hotel, staff and village were wonderful. Everything was great! Staff, room, even their restaurant aroung the corner. Toro room can be loud if you have rude guests coming into the hotel entrance late at night, but that's not the hotels fault.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff is friendly and very helpful with suggestions and making reservations. The town is quaint and quiet, yet close enough to other places for day trips.

We loved this place more than any other hotel in our two-week tour of Italy. The staff were more than helpful, the breakfast was ample, and the room we had was outstanding. The town couldn't be more picturesque. Our room overlooked a sweet garden full of olives, grapes, herbs, cats and birds, with tuscan hills in the background. Can't recommend it highly enough.

This inn was incrediably nice physically and service wise. The physical facitlity is incredibly charming---albeit a bit noisy if one has a room on the first floor (the noise from the resption area carries up the stairwell. In addition to the physical attributes, the people make the real difference. All were incredibly friendly, caring and attentive. Food at the inn was lovely and the food at the restaurant owned by the inn but in another building aroud the corner was very enjoyable. If one is looking for an "A" quality inn below Siena, consider this inn.

A great setting in a quiet small walled city. The breakfast was one of the best during our travels. Could not recomend any corrections or additions to the accomodations.

The only real dissapointment was that the restaurant only had meat choices of meals, no fish or vegetable meals, when queried we were offered a bit of this meal and a bit of that so we had to leave the restaurant and we found an excellent local one, the welcom was a little cold. Otherwise it was a delightfull place to stay and we really enjoyed the high quality and cleanliness.

A very good hotel within the walls of the town. The staff had a tendancy towards formality and the photographs on the website make the rooms look less basic than they actually are. The in-hotel restaurant was very good but parking is easier outside the town walls (2 minutes walk) rather than in the hotel garage. Nevertheless an excellent place to stay on a tour of the region.
