The staff were friendly, and the bedroom (which we were happy to find came with a microwave and mini-fridge), decor, and linens were all good. We also enjoyed the refreshing lemon-infused chilled water at the front desk throughout the day. There was no complimentary breakfast which we were already aware of based on other reviews. The most significant problems we had were the major ant presence in our room (i.e. ants in the bathroom constantly, trail of them on the microwave counter + wall, and even in the bedsheets!), lack of counter space in the bathroom (just the sink-faucet sides and window "ledge"), and the computer area for guests in the downstairs common area was really dark when it should've been lit - this made it really uncomfortable to have to use the computer in total darkness. The general area the hotel was in was so-so.. there's a local grocery store down the street that was convenient to be within walking distance of, but other than that, the area's pretty run down. There's a bus stop nearby that can take you to Old San Juan for $0.50 each way, but we seemed to be the only tourists/non-Spanish speaking passengers on it which made it a little difficult since we didn't know which stop to ask for. All in all, Hotel Miramar was ok and would've been much more enjoyable had it not been for all the ants (they got into our local pastries - sad!). For the price we paid, there really shouldn't have been insects at the very least.

Everything was fine. They had an umbrella to loan me for the day, and gave me good advice about walking versus calling a taxi.

After trying mainstream hotles in San Juan, I decided to try a boutique hotel. Hotel Miramar was great value for money. The staff was friendly and helpful. The front desk person needs to be trained in giving directions, however. I loved the fact that it was located in amore local Puerto Rican setting. One felt more connected to the island.

This hotel was wonderful. I found the small hotel to be clean, friendly, and catering to their customers needs. I arrived after taking an overnight flight into PR (I had emailed them to let them know this before hand). I took a taxi to the hotel, about a $15 fare. (Always ask the taxi BEFORE you get in what the fare is). The hotel had my room available for me WAY before normal check in time. Sylvie at the front desk was both knowledgeable, and friendly. The continental breakfast included oatmeal, cereal, fruit, tea, coffee and muffins plus more was served btwn 7 - 10 am and was great. The hotel is a bit old, but is kept meticulously clean. The rooms were very spacious (my room had a very slight mildew smell, which I didn't notice later in the day). There is a grocery store, numerous resturants and a movie theater within 2 blocks of the hotel. The area the hotel is located seemed to be fine. There is a bus stop about 100 yards from the hotel entrance and for a fare of about $.50, and a 5 minute ride, you will be dropped off in Old San Juan. There is a grocery store and a movie theater about 2 blocks away too. I think this hotel is a great value and would definitely stay there again and I highly recommend it to any travelers looking for a great hotel at a great price.

The Hotel Miramar offered exceptional quality and service for the price. I stayed there for 2 nights and I would definately stay there again. There are restaurants in the area and a supermarket, and pharmacy within walking distance. The hotel staff is friendly and knowledgable and very helpful. The only problem I had was the additional 9%hotel surcharge and the $15 fee the hotel charges for additional guests in the room. The Venere travel site should highlight these aadditional fees next to the price so prospective guests can make an informed decision. Regardless, I thought the price of under $100 was very resonable. I would definately go back. CW

Hotel Miramar was everything and more. I did not want to stay in a heavily tourist area. It was my fathers birthday and he is from Puerto Rico so I wanted it to feel more like home then a vacation. He loved it and so did I.Next time I go, I will likely stay there again because the price and quality were perfect.

A recently reburbished hotel, very well connected with Old San Juan & easy to locate by car. Rooms clean & well conditioned. Surroundings with a mall an other shops. The breakfast is a bit poor although enough for a non specially requesting stomach. You have to add to the basical price per person & night, 20% of different taxes and concepts, take notice! But is a good price in comparison for the standard of the area for alone travellers.
