Friendliness was the first quality encountered. We were encouraged to avail of the evening meal, served from 7.30pm to 9.00pm approx. We were delighted we did and eat in the hotel each of the four evenings of our stay. The menu was of good basic Italian style and excellent value. To be recommended. However, the breakfast in comparison did not reach the evening meal standard. VERY Italian with sweet items aplenty ~ not to Irish tastes. When requested the staff did oblige with bread and tea. WHAT MORE WOULD ONE WANT!!!

This was a nice hotel, with free parking. It was also probably one of the easier hotels to drive to. We were able to walk to the shrine area, but we are hardy people. It was not an easy walk, and I would not recommend this hotel for an older or single person except as part of a tour that provides transportation. Also I think a hotel that advertises that it has a restaurant should say what times of the year it is open. The restaurant was one of our main reasons for booking at Sant'Anna, and it was closed in March because that is the low season. In fact I think we were the only guests, so I wouldn't expect the restaurant to be open, only that the information on venere.com of other websites be accurate. The front desk was very kind in recommending a restaurant and calling for reservations; the restaurant was good and also within walking distance, but not for anyone old, timid, or traveling alone. Everything else was more than fine. The rooms were clean, the breakfast was one of the best we had, and the employees were uniformly friendly and most helpful. We would stay there again, and we definitely recommend it with the caveats above.

Directions to get to the hotel were HORRIBLE (if there were signs for the hotel, we missed them), but when we called the hotel to ask for directions, they told us to stay where we were and they came and got us! The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The accomodations are fairly basic but clean and ample, and the price was quite low so it was a good deal. Breakfast was also a bit sparse, but the coffee was to order (rather than just Nescafe out of the machine.) Surroundings are suburban and in a hilly area, so if anyone in your group has limited mobility you will have to drive to the Padre Pio site. Overall a very pleasant stay; I would definitely return (and probably eat dinner in their restaurant next time.)
