Very nice hotel in beautiful location. Car needed as well outside the town. Pool is cold, but with beautiful view of Tuscany. Staff very helpful. Good value.

The hotel is quite a drive from the town on dangerous roads. We would not stay there again due to the location, but the hotel itself was nice.

This hotel is a spectacular resort, rather than simple 4 star hotel, with indoor outdoor pool and various other fabulous amenities. The views over the Tuscan hillsides are amazing and this would make a great destination for a vacation or honeymoon, and central point for touring the area. We stayed only for one night whilst visiting San Gimigano and thus did not have the opportunity to avail ourselves of all the amenities. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Italy, with an incredible array of hot and cold foods. It was still a 6 km drive to San Gimignano and was not within the city boundaries as we understood. We were disappointed by the lack of explanation of some of the room amenities, and found no explanations in the room. We were told, incorrectly, by staff that the mini bar and in room internet connections were complimentary when they were not, and this led to a confrontation at check out, which was ulimtately resolved to our satisfaction.

Hotel Villasanpaolo was beautiful. Our room was very nice; we had a view of the pool and the surrounding hills. The location was beautiful; atop a hill with a magnificent view. The were sculptures throughout the landscaping and gardens. We only stayed two nights and I wish we had planned to stay longer.

We had a wonderful stay at Villasanpaolo. It was the nicest, cleanest and most well appointed of the 6 hotels we visited during our trip. Breakfast was top notch. The only substandard service was at the outside dining /bar area at night. There was only 1 person on duty and he waited tables , tended bar and cooked by himself. Needless to say , the service was rather slow at this outside area.Other than that, the service was wonderful, the rooms were beautiful and the grounds were picturesque. We would definitely stay there again.

Great hotel in all but there could be a better lunch menu as its very limited & the pool service is only available from 1pm - 3pm so you can't get drinks easily by the pool. The location is great & the views are fantastic. One more point is that the spa is of an exceptional standard

Very nice Hotel with an excellent restaurant. We have traveled quite abit and this was our first dinner that included a 4 page water menu! The meals were excellent and the service superb. the surrounding countryside is beautiful. Rooms were very nice but seemed a little small. Hotel staff spoke English and were very helpful and accomodating.

The hotel itself is lovely, and well worth the cost. The staff, with one exception, was gracious and friendly. Unfortunately, the one person we have issue with was the manager on duty, I assume, who was unbearably haughty and not at all gracious or friendly. In fact, he was so pretntious, it was quite amusing.

From the moment we walked in to Villa SanPaulo I was impressed with its beauty & ambience, & the professional approach from everyone there. The room was a joy to stay in with crisp white sheets & a magnificent bathroom. I have very happy memories of my stay there, & would go back again without hesitation.

This is a truly excellent hotel, the position gives stunning views over San Gimignano and also provides for easy access to Sienna Florence Volterra etc. Situated approx. 3 miles from SG a car is essential. Staff were pleased to see us extremely friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. We stayed in the new extension and the room we had was spacious extremely well equipped and furnished / decorated in the modern style , it was both quiet and comfortable. Being on the first floor we enjoyed the large balcony provided. Rooms on the ground floor have both a small terrace deck and garden . The restaurant provided a good choice of food for breakfast, a simple lunch menu is offered but proved to be excellent. Dinner was exceptional in both the choice offered the quality of the food and the attentive service provided. Very little is preprepared so be prepared to spend some time over dinner, hardly difficult give the views on offer. One thing to be aware of is that as at September 05 the "Wellness Centre" indoor pool saunas etc has not been completed and were not operational. estimated completion dates given by staff varied, We doubt it will be ready much before early 2006. If these facilities are important to you check before you book. Otherwise we thoroughly recommend this hotel, you won't be disapointed.

Beautifully appointed hotel in a stunning position, with delightful helpful staff. Just far enough away from busy San Gimignano, but close enough to visit. Good spot for touring Central Tuscany. For us the only downside was the restuarant, nouvelle cuisine, beautifully presented, but with no substance.Felt the maitre d'too interested in creating the atmosphere they want, without satisfying the customer. However buffet breakfasts were excellent.

Villsanpaolo is delightful: 2 separate old houses and main building connected by covered way. Very modern facilities. A new restaurant being created below existing one, but no noise. The staff welcomed us and sent luggage to our rooms. Restaurant not open on Wednesday, but 'snacks' provided were ample for lunch - salads, English-style toasties, ice cream sundae etc - served outdoors under the trees. Breakfast was excellent, incl. bacon & egg and tea! The swimming pool was very inviting, although we didn't use it. The rooms are charming, with every thought given to guests' comfort, (although, being English, we found it a bit too warm). Car needed to go into St Gimigniano. We would ceretainly stay there again.

Very comfortable hotel situated in an excellent location, high standard of accommodation and very good food.Lacked atmosphere but this could be due to the fact that building work was taking place adjacent to the main part of the hotel. It would have been preferable to know about this prior to arrival.

My comments are not too generous for the lovely stay my wife and I experienced for four days at the Villa San Paulo. Our stay there was the highlight of our ten day visit in Italy! Very accommodating staff and lovely facilities! The gourmet dining in the newly opened restaurant was an enjoyable surprise.

This was a lovely place to stay. The staff were very friendly and especially helpful when we were having difficulties with our rented car. There is some building work underway, but it did not interfere with our relaxation at all. We would definitely stay here again.

My son and I stayed at your lovely hotel. When we entered the lobby, Franco greeted us warmly by our name. The service was supurb! When we asked about internet, Franco delivered a laptop directly to our room for personal use, and he connected us to the internet. The only charge was the price of a local call. The staff also arranged for an olive oil tasting and made dinner reservations for us. Breakfast was delicious. I look forward to when there is a restaurant on site, but it is only a short drive to Hotel Leonato, a sister hotel, where the food is excellent, all with fresh ingredients. The rooms, while a bit small, were well equiped and newly decorated. I loved the hotel!

We only spent one night here, so our experience is limited, but we thought the hotel (a villa) was beautiful and intimate. We had the last available room, which was small, but with all amenities. The hotel is situated among well maintained gardens on a hill with a fantastic view of San Gimignano, about 10 minutes away. The staff was hospitable and very helpful in making dinner reservations. San Gimignano is so busy and crowded during the summer, we were happy to be able to retreat to the countryside and spend some time at the hotel pool before venturing out for dinner. We would gladly return.

The rooms are a small and dated. The hotel is located in a beautiful location overlooking the country side, with a nice view of San Gimigano. The hotel is undergoing an expansion of it's facilities, we were awaken very early in the morning by the sound of construction equipment. It is a very private location, about 6 or 7 km from San G. Nice breakfast included.

This is a lovely place to stay. The welcome from the staff was very good and we were made to feel at home. It feels a very exclusive place to stay and the near by village of SAn Gim is a good place to eat / shop / walk. Note of caution getting a taxi back late at night can sometimes be difficult!!!! Thoroughly recommended

Whilst accurate, the website does not do this hotel justice! Although visiting at the end of the season, our whole experience was excellent .The staff were all most professional (We would have preferred to stay here longer rather than transfer to L'Ultimo Mulino). Our only problem was in locating the hotel. After driving up to San Gimingagno, while there were signs, they were not good and did not indicate the distance of the hotel from San Gimingnano. The website had not made it clear that the hotel was so far outside the town and too far to reasonably walk there and back in the heat for the older tourist! The view of the town from the hotel perhaps makes up for this once one realizes where and when to arrive to park outside the town walls!!This really needs to be made clearer on the website and the virtues of the hotel extolled more (view, pool etc). Direct E-mail contact with the Manager of the hotel (which we prefer) would have answered many questions and avoided our initial disappointment that the hotel was not closer to San Gimingnano as we had understood from the website. Direction to good restaurants (and reservations)were helpful but again we missed having a really good restaurant in the hotel. We hope to return soon.
