It is a wonderful place to stay. The hotel is in the country at what was once a working farm. You definately need a car to get to the hotel. It was a little difficult to find, as we did not realize at first that it was in the country near town and not in San Gimignano. However, once there it was relaxing and delightful. The views were amazing and also the restaurant on location had good food at resonable prices. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer.

This is the cleanest, friendliest, best managed hotel we have ever used. From our balcony in room 70, we had 180 degree panorama of Tuscany. The food and service at the hotel was perfect and the ideal home base to enjoy Tuscany. We spent 10 nights and could have stayed a month. Tuscany is magic and San Gimignano is the best city in a beautiful place. Visit San Gimignano early morning or after 7pm to enjoy a tourist free city. The cafes and restaurants on the Pizza di la Cisterna are perfect places to get lost in the atmosphere. The hotel is just 3km from the town and less than one hour drive from Siena, Pisa, Florence, Voltera, and Chianti Classico. I highly recommend Ristorante de Pode a few minutes’ drive from town. The best gelato in Italy is also on the Piazza. The hotel is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. With local wine for sale and great food at the hotel cafe, you can have a self-contained holiday. We spent much of our time wandering around the beautiful Tuscany and highly recommend this hotel and San Gimignano.

A charming room with a fantastic view of San Gimignano. The breakfast was good and the restaurant food very good. The hotel grounds were beautiful, rustic and abounding with fruit trees. The pool was lovely albeit a bit chilly. The staff were competent and helpful. An ideal location for exploring the San G area.

This is a very comfortable, excellent hotel with good facilities, and is ideal for a family touring in the area. The restaurant menus are more comprehensive than advertised, with the only drawback being the wasps in season. However, this is compensated for by the excellent figs in the gardens.

Perfect hotel in the nice landscape of Tuscany. If you drive a car, you're not far from San Gimignano, Volterra and Siena, but you are in a quiet place to rest with a beautiful view on vineyards. The whole staff is particularly nice and helpful. Rooms and common area are spacious with a pleasant decoration.

This hotel far exceeded our expectations. It appeared very attractive on the website but in actuality it was gorgeous. The rooms were comfortable with lots of storage and breathtaking views. The staff were friendly and helpful and the evening meals available on the terrace were great when you didn't feel like going out.We would love to go back some day.We were traveling with our oldest friends and they shared our delight in our surroundings.

Fantastic place to stay! Great view! One small comment: internet and wi-fi should be for free, not just in Pescille, but in all hotels, cafes and airports! It is in my country. I don't see the need to charge guests for it.

Wonderful hotel in a magical location. I have been there 17 years ago and wanted to come back. The furniture in my room was uninspired, non-matching and unimaginatively arranged. It was probably not upgraded in many years. Esthetic modern furniture or even more tasteful bedcovers or wall decorations can make a tremendous improvement.

The hotel was only 4 minutes drive from San Gimignano & had a magnificent view across the valley to the town. The hotel grounds were well laid out & probably beautiful in summer although we were there in October in fine weather. We would highly recommend this hotel for its location, facilities & a good selection of food for breakfast.

Well worth the extra for the rooms with views over San Gimignano - tremendous and quite different at different times of the day. Beautiful grounds with several quiet areas to relax in and nice pool area. Good wines available from it's own winery. Good breakfasts but limited menu for lunch and dinner as most people go out. Stayed six nights here as centrally located for day trips around Tuscany. The friendlt staff made you welcome and nothing was a problem for them.

We spent two weeks in Italy and both my boyfriend and I agree that hotel Pescille was by far our favorite. Driving up to it we were just in awe with the picturesque view and were eager to explore what looked like a beautiful old farm house converted into a hotel. The staff that greeted us were very pleasant and helpful when we asked questions about where to go and what to see in the area. We immediately toured around the grounds finding hammocks and reclining lawn chairs everywhere, encouraging relaxation. We took a dip in the pool which was awesome and enjoyed a buffet dinner and BBQ. The view of San Gimignano from the hotel was beautiful and a short distance away for a 1/2 day visit. I'd go in the morning if you plan on going... it gets quick packed there with tourists otherwise. We always read these reviews and always say we'd write them and finally we had a hotel that was worth writing about. You won't be disappointed with your stay here.

Hotel Pescille, with its spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside and San Gimignano is the perfect place to stay while visiting the hillside town outside the walls. Although the rooms are simply decorated, (who spends that much time anyway, the entire decor and surroundings were just fantastic. Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly.

This hotel is in am amazing part of the world and a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The staff were nice, but not very informative, you end up working out where everything is yourself. If you want a place to sit and enjoy this is for you, that way you can take full advantage of where you are. It can be a bit tricky to get to if you dont have a car and the taxi ride is expensive for the short distance you have to travel.

This hotel is the best. It is absolutely beautiful..... surrounded by gardens and a vineyard, there are hammocks and lounge chairs everywhere for guest read and relax in. Also had a swimming pool that was beautiful, clean and peaceful. It is very close to several beautiful hill towns for day trips. The rooms are so clean and comfortable, each with a balcony, I slept like a baby. It was the best stay we had on our trip. Oh, and the food served on the property is delicious.

Amazing property. Only complaint which seems petty but which is very important to me is that it was the worst cappuccino I have ever had at breakfast. Caffe in Italy is part of the whole experience and the first morning the staff at breakfast made himself a caffe and when i asked for one he pointed me to the machine that spits out caffe. Worst caffe i had in italy. For such a nice hotel it seemed unfortunate. Again, not a reason to not stay here but this hotel should look into changing this. Every other hotel i stayed in made caffe to order. What a fun part of being in Italy!

This hotel is situated in the most wonderful location with superb views. There is a lovely outside area with swimming pool and gardens although on our visit the weather didn't allow use of these. The reception staff are very friendly and the whole hotel would rate an excellent overall except the breakfast which lets the place down. There was no human presence just vending type machines with awful coffee - not what you expect when in Italy! The fruit was very battered and bruised and in fact the whole spread wasn't that great. If Hotel Pescille employ a breakfast waiter and liberate a proper coffee making machine then the place would be really splendid.

Our 3 night stay in the Tower Room in Mid-October was a plesant one. The location in relation to San Gimignano was ideal and preferable to staying in town. Staff were friendly and helpful. The front desk staff all were English speaking. The continental breakfast was fine, although the evening dinner buffet was not available in October. The grounds, olive groves and vineyards were fantastic. Cleanliness was impeccable. The Tower Room was perhaps the most unusual room we have ever stayed in anywhere. The 360 degree views of San G. and the countryside were incomparable. If one uses a realistic standard for a European room at a 138 Euro price, the value was good. If an American standard for a room of comparable price is used then the level of comfort in terms of a comfortable chair, bedding quality, TV and bathroom amenities don't measure up. In general I would reccomend the Pescille to anyone who is willing to sacifice just a bit of posh for an agrarian setting within a five minute drive of San Gimignano and convenient to Volterra, Siena, & Monteriggioni.

We enjoyed five lovely days at the Pescille. It is a quality hotel in a working vineyard. Excellent countryside location to visit San Gimignano, the Chianti region, and Siena. Nice outdoor areas for breakfast and relaxing. Impressive view of San Gimignano a few miles away. The best breakfasts of our whole Tuscan trip. Limited evening menu but high quality and reasonable prices. Very nice staff. We would like to come back just to stay here and enjoy the place, take walks among the vineyards and olive trees, and explore the vicinities.

We were very impressed with the beautiful location, the hotel staff was very friendly, very clean and beautiful setting. The breakfast was good, and enjoyed the hotel. The complaint we have is bathroom..there is NO where to store things..they don't have shelves or counter space..so it was very difficult for my wife and I in that regard. Online many websites say a view of San Gimignano is a 15 euro increase, they told is it would be 25.00 euro more per night..we negotiated the 15.00EU as it was published in many reviews. You must have a car here..but well worth the drive around the area! Would recommend it! Thanks!

We stayed at hotel Pescille for 2 nights and it was the best part of our 2 week trip in Italy. We only wish we could have stayed longer. The room had a balcony view overlooking San Gimignano and we were able to admire the scenery during all parts of the day. The garden and terraces overlooking the vineyards are equally amazing, and we spent a good part of the day relaxing there and by the pool as well. The restaurant was good, although there lacked a variety in the menu. Excellent balsalmic vinegar is available at the wine shop in the mornings.

Overall a nice stay, and a lovely setting for a hotel, but I thought the rooms were not as good as they appeared in the photos. I don't need a hotel room to be fancy or frilly - in fact I prefer it not to be - but the decor was just a bit tired and unwelcoming. Also, we were unlucky because the sound insulation wasn't great, the people in the room above stomped about. Apart from that, San Gimignano is a gorgeous place, and the view from the window of our room made up for almost everything!

You need a car to reach this hotel, which is down a country track, with excellent views of San Gimignano. It is an efficient, if somewhat charmless hotel, run as a business and used to big parties with an eye to buying wines and olive oil. Breakfast was adequate, the room was sufficient, the staff pleasant. It is an excellent base for exploring the Tuscan countryside and San Gimignano. San Gimignano is very interesting, but crawling with tourists. Best seen in the late afternoon/ evening. At about 6 o' clock, the tourists leave in their big coaches, and then the locals come out, and that is the best time to wander through its extraordinary streets.

A very nice hotel situated right in the middle of the lovely Tuscany countryside. Beautiful swimming pool though you may go before the end of the afternoon because of the big trees standing in front of the sun and above the pool. IE, it can be rather cold water after 5 p.m....Bedrooms would be great if we couldn't hear the neighbours so well. That's as far as critics go. THe rest (people, location, decoration, food) is really good.

Tornerei domani.

The staff were most helpful and generally spoke several languages. the location of the hotel was ideal, especially considering the very busy nature of san gimi. it was nice to sit, share a bottle of the local wine whilst looking at the towers and being thankful that we weren't attempting to find a car park space in the town. the breakfast was basic fare, but plentiful - buffet style, and the mid-day and evening meals very good quality. the grounds very lovely and allowed all guests to find a private place to sun bathe, read a book and laze in the hammocks

This hotel is a gem with the most magnificent views over San Gimignano. The facilities are very good for the price. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The pool and grounds are all very good with plenty of sunbeds and hammocks. There were perhaps too many signs and notices around the hotel which told you what you should not do - including a very confusing one about what you should not be doing with your breakfast (I think it was trying to say don't take it from the patio to the grounds!). There was also one which said 'No Diving' by the pool when the pool is a good 8 feet deep. It didn't stop us jumping in so I expect to see a sign preventing that next time! All a bit unnecessary really and these notices made me feel as though the emphasis on fun and customer satisfaction was being lost in the translation. I accept that there need to be rules and that these signs probably came about as a result of experience of guests pushing the boundaries but, for me, I'd like to see less of them and more of a discrete 'word in the ear' when a guest is perhaps doing something the hotel (or other guests) would rather they didn't. Breakfast was very good and provided a good start to the day. Comments made by others about paying for a decent cup of coffee are a little overstated in my view - the hotel has a good machine which grinds and brews the coffee for you on demand, producing a decent cappucino. The evening barbecue was generally very good but my only reservation is the lack of vegetables and the ubiquitous portion of crisps (chips) which accompanied the meat. This was not really enough to feed a hungry guest and could so easily have been remedied by a simple pasta or potato side dish. My only disappointment with the hotel was the absence of the promised packed breakfast when we left very early on our final day. I raised this with the hotel who put it down to a 'misunderstanding', which was frankly not an adequate explanation and was certainly no compensatio

The photographs do not do this place justice. We had a car ( I believe a must) and were booked for 2 nights. We loved the place so much we came back later in the week for another 2 nights. This is a perfect location between Florence and Siena for enjoying the countryside of Tuscany. The view of San Gimignano is magnificent from here. I'd love to come back in September/October during the wine harvest season.

The hotel and staff were excellent, our room was good, but it's closeness to the wine bar area was dissapointing, during the evening and into the night it was noisey. We wish to compliment Pili on his abilities, he was friendly and very helpfull. Everyone spoke good English

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone(it felt more like an agriturismo rather than a hotel). The rooms were comforable and clean, especially the bathroom. The staff was very helpful and the food was fresh and authentic. Despite the rain, we enjoyed our time. You must try their fresh olive oil. It is out of this world!!!

Beautiful setting; very nice to have a pool; good location for accessing many of the small hilltowns of Tuscany; staff helpful w/ good English--we left for Rome very early one morning & the staff had a little "lunch" packed for us because the breakfast room wasn't open yet--that was very kind of them;big drawback: the floors are all tiled with no area rugs so it is very nosiy--you hear everything from the room above you--if coming ask for a top floor room!!

Very nice. Shuttle to town is cheap and fast. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast could be much better (hot drinks just from automatic machines, terrible cappuccino, if you like the real one you have to pay for it). Anyway it is a nice spot to stay.

Hotel Pescille is a beautiful and peaceful location, surrounded by olive groves and rolling hills, quite close to San Gimi. and Firenze but car is absolutely necessary. Room clean and tidy but very basically furnished, breakfast is no more than adequate. We miss a restaurant for dinner, without any doubt should be a plus.

This was the best hotel of our 12 day stay in Italy. Our first comment when we walked into our rooms was that we needed to change our reservations to stay one additional night! After making a reservation the hotel wrote us asking if we wanted to pay an additional 15 Euros a night for a room with a view over San Gimignano. I am glad we paid, the view is simply outstanding!! The room has a very nice balcony overlooking the city, perfect for a night of Parmiggiano and Wine! Breaksfat is excellent, just make sure you wake up in time for it (it closes at 9:30) and that you go outside to eat. The pictures posted in the site do not do justice to how cosy and relaxing the hotel is. The staff is very friendly, and recommended to us a very nice restaurant for our first night. You can see wine making just down from your window and they have small bar downstairs, great for that last glass of wine (its a bit expensive but worth it).

Hotel was nice, we had a room with a beautiful view over San Gimigniano - only thing is that we thought the hotel was in walking distance to the historic town which was not (3km, not walking path to the town). Public areas around hotel are pretty. Breakfast was little disappointing as fresh fruits, fresh milk etc. were not at guests proposal. As to the restaurant, we were looking for more typical tuscanian food and larger choice. Place to stay if you are looking for the quietness of the countryside.

I very very peaceful and tranquil stay. Beautiful location. We will certainly re-visit. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Room clean and tidy but very basically furnished; no mirror other than in bathroom. Main fault is the rather limited food available. We had to drive out each evening to find somewhere to eat. Breakfasts are no more than adequate. On one morning, when we were rather later down than usual, virtually all food gone and no more eggs available. But don't let that put anyone off from staying, if that is the price of peace and tranquility it is worth paying.

Hotel Pescille is a beautiful hotel in the midst of the Tuscan countryside. Absolutely idyllic. Surrounded by olive groves and rolling hills, the view of the towers of San Gim. from the grounds is breathtaking. Breakfast was good. Our room was great, the bathroom upstairs and at two levels with a sunken tub and lounging couch and skylights. Aside from a snippy front desk woman, we thought we were in heaven. Then we got robbed. Someone climbed in our 2nd floor open window and robbed us of our valuables while we slept. (Us and 5 other rooms) Quite frightening and upsetting. This is where the hotel let us down. The snippy front desk woman insisted on charging me the 10 euro to use the internet, even though I suggested she waive this as a goodwill gesture since I needed the internet only because my cell phone was one of the things stolen... she advised me I should have shut my window. (EVERYONE had their windows open!) In summary, the place was beautiful, the rest of the help was pleasant but the combination of being robbed and the lack of concern by the front desk certainly put a different slant on things for us. Would I go back? If I did, I would keep the a/c on and the windows bolted....Incidentally, this is owned by the same people that own the Belsoggiorno in San Gim. I am guessing the owners work at the Belsoggiorno as the lack of concern by the front desk woman was a disgrace and she told us point blank she was not the owner.

Pescille is a tranquil oasis in the middle of the most beautiful countryside. The hotel is spotlessly clean with beautiful artwork on all the walls. The rooms are airconditioned with wonderful views of the San Gimignano towers, and the Tuscan vineyards. I spent a very happy morning watching the wildlife from our balcony - bird eaters, hoopoes and pheasants. Town is about 5k away but the hotel runs a regular cheap minibus service, which is great because it is not possible to park in San Gimignano. The ouside spaces are spread over several levels and are divided by walls and hedges making them all seem intimate and exclusive. The pool is great (looks new) and the bar which is open in the evening is a delight. The food throughout the day is good, but the choices at dinner -when available - are very limited Finally, the staff were excellent, welcoming, friendly, informative and efficient. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will definitely be going again.

View and room was beautiful. Very spacious accomodations. Comvinient drive to San Gimagnano. Coffee machine at breakfast was poor, but you could pay for custom made cappucino. It was nice to have an often of wine on the patio, but would have been to to have an inside seating option as it was a bit cool.

Of all the places we stayed and visited in Italy, this was the very best. The facility is a beautiful dream with beautiful views. There is parking on site and the charming walled towns and incredible Tuscan scenery are easily accessible. Every member of the staff that we encountered was wonderful. We didn't want to leave and we would love to go back.
