The staff was anything but helpful. We had a problem with our key and the man at the front desk seemed very put out to help us. He was able to get it to work (I'm sure he had practice) but we were not. He finally replaced it which is what he should have done in the beginning. While it was nice to have free parking, it was a very small area that was difficult to get in and out of. The room was clean but small and very old. As far as location it was a pretty good walk to any attractions or restaurants, but we decided to keep our parking spot and walk everywhere since parking is so difficult in SF. It did come with a refrigerator which was a plus for us. Continental breakfast was muffins, some fruit and coffee with little choices. Basically we got what we payed for (almost) Next time I would be willing to pay more for a better hotel.

Hotel manager left the least desirable room ( noisiest) to the Venere customer because of the price arrangement he had made. The room it self was great but it was right on a very busy street and so very very noisy. Good location though and yummy muffins for included breakfast. From experience, hotel staff tend to treat people who get a deal on line, with less consideration and respect! But Venere finds good hotels in good locations. Thank you.

How to reach Town House Motel

By car
From San Francisco & Oakland Bay Bridge:
Traveling on Hwy 80 and after leaving the bridge, get into the right lane. Continue to Hwy 101 North & Golden Gate Bridge and take the Van Ness Avenue Exit. Follow Van Ness Avenue straight through San Francisco for approximately 2 miles/3.2 km. Turn left on Lombard Street (the street before Lombard is Greenwich) and get into the right lane. The hotel is two and a half blocks on the right, at 1650 Lombard Street.

From Hwy 101 & San Francisco airport area:
Head north on Hwy 101 and take the Hwy 101 North & Golden Gate Bridge Exit. Then take the Van Ness Avenue Exit and follow the signs to Van Ness Avenue. Take Van Ness Avenue straight through San Francisco for approximately 2 miles/3.2 km. Turn left on Lombard Street (the street before Lombard is Greenwich) and get into the right lane. The hotel is two and a half blocks on the right.

From the Golden Gate Bridge:
Continue past the toll booths to the Lombard Street Exit. Continue on Lombard Street for approximately 9 blocks. Turn right on Octavia Street (the street before Octavia is Laguna). Go one block and then turn left. Keep turning left at intersections until you turn left on Lombard Street, heading back the way you came in. The hotel is half a block down on the right.

By airplane
The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) lies around 16 miles/25.6 km from the hotel. Take the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) underground train. The ride is approximately 30 minutes and the nearest station from the property is Civic Center, about 2 miles away. Then use public transportation to reach Lombard Street. Alternatively, a taxi will take you directly to the hotel door and costs about $35.00, one-way.

The Oakland Airport (OAK) lies around 20 miles/32 km from the hotel. You can take the BART train which runs to both San Francisco Airport and Oakland Airport. The ride is approximately 60 minutes and the nearest station from the hotel is Civic Center.
