I stayed in SF for holiday and some little business duties for two weeks. I had booked for 13 nights but my conference had moved to Palo Alto. Despite the last minute notice, the staff (Eric and Rodel, cannot remember the name of the third person) were friendly enough to let me change my booking. They were also very helpful regarding where to go and how to get there, and the rooms were top quality for the price and location (very very central). I am so happy I stayed at the Park Hotel and I recommend it without a moment's hesitation. Thank you so much Eric, Rodel and the third-person-whose-name-I-cannot-remember!!

I stayed 5 days in San Francisco and lived 4 nights in the Park Hotel. The staff is very kindly. I am satisfied in the rough except for the towel. There were some spots on the towel. I suggest that the towel should be cleaned.

The hotel location is good and close to shops, public tranport, Bart Station and tour bus stops. The staff are friendly and helpful. Because we are staying in the 4th floor, the only problem I had is the elevator. It is old and it can't be used at night or after midnight

People at recepetion were very helpful and nice but rate are too expensive in comparison with service and rooms itself. Hotel is in the very center of SF but the nicest area is the harbour that is far. Rooms are really easy and small and a strange smell is everywhere.

Very good location and area in the very city center but the double bed was so small... i stayed twice there : one time in a quiet bedroom with no view but very quiet and with bathroom. the second time, i stayed in a bedroom with no bathroom and view on the street which was very noisy and no remote control working, i did not like it. i d probably go again cause it s cheap and in a good area but the double bed is very small.

The hotel was conveniently located near union square - which was really good for getting around san francisco. You cannot expect big luxury, but with this price, it was definitely worth its money. the people at the front desk were really helpfull with everything. if you are on a budget, but want to see san francisco and still have a decent hotel room, i would recommend this hotel

I stayed at the Park Hotel for 2 nights at the beginning of April 2009. The hotel was very clean but a lot older then what I expected. The elevator was very small but that wasn't really a big issue. The only problem we had during our stay was that the windows of our room was not very well isolated. Close or open, we would still clearly ear the sound of the traffic on the street. That was not a problem for me but my friend had a hard time to sleep in the morning. Overall for the price this hotel is very good and very well situated. I would recommand to anyone who is on a tight budget and want to go to San Francisco !

Re: Noise level - I heard a couple having an argument that continued on into the night. I could also hear a group of young men late in the night - but it was a festival weekend so that would be expected. I went to see if the lift was working before 8.00am on the Sunday I was there but it was not turned on.

It was in a really good area, but the place was small. I would have preferred that the bathroom and the shower were in the same room. It was pricey too, but it is a good place to stay if you just need somewhere to crash.

The rooms were really noisy. Not just a bit noisy - so noisy it was very difficult to sleep (even though I'm usually a good sleeper and we were shattered having just flown for 11 hours and been up nearly 36 hours). Also, the shared bathrooms were shared between lots of rooms and were therefore not clean - they were probably cleaned once a day, but when you've got nine or ten rooms using them that isn't enough, not pleasant. The hotel is in a good location, the staff were pleasant and helpful.

Excellent location, incredible value. Don't let the sub-10 ratings put you off - this is better than expected for the price. We actually got $5 a night cheaper when booking in person the second time. The third time we went (a weekend) we were upgraded to a private bathroom but paid the weekday shared bathroom rate. Highly recommended and would stay a fourth time!

As others have noted, this is a basic hotel at a basic price. Many of the rooms are hostel rooms (shared bathrooms). My room was old but clean and tidy and serviced daily. Rooms have no telephone. Internet access (wireless) was good signal strength and nice and fast. Bathroom is old but shower was hot and good pressure. The location is hard to beat, probably the best for this price I have seen (and I have stayed in a few different 1.5 - 2 star places in S.F.). I would recommend this for someone needing a central location without requiring especially comfortable accommodation. specially comfortable ac

The Park hotel provides comfortable, but decidedly very no-frills accommodation that just might be the best value in San Francisco. The location is in a nice neighborhood and very very near Chinatown & Union Square. The rooms are well kept, but show their age. Noise was a factor both from the street and from people constantly letting the ancient elevator door slam shut. Overall though the Park Hotel was a great experience for the money and I would definitely return.

OK for the price. The Hotel Adante nearby (where a collegue stayed) looked a bit cheaper and better. Most of the evaluation below may depend on the room you get. Pros: - location - price - large and clean room Cons: - terrible internet connection in the room - terrible TV reception - somewhat noisy (old windows) - no soap (shampoo, etc.) provided - no breakfast

Hard to beat the price. It's somewhere between a hotel room and a hostel, but that's the compromise you make for a cheap room in downtown SF. It served its purpose well for our trip. The Park Hotel is located right in the financial district of downtown San Francisco. Union Square and all of its famous shopping is nearby, along with Chinatown.

Whatever you do, don't stay here. Uncomfortable room, dirty, noisy, a heater that was on or off, never warm. And the nightclub out of the room window blasting out dance music at top volume really made it a stay to forget. Spend more money and stay somewhere nicer. It's not worth even the price I paid for it.

Asked for a roll-away bed and got a two-bed room for the price of a one-bed room. Good service in that respect. Hotel interior is old, but repainted. Staff smoke just outside doorway to hotel; smoke gets inside. Very old-style elevator with two doors that you have to hold open yourself or they will spring shut. Hard to use when you are managing luggage. Room was Spartan (no decor). Bad TV reception by outside antenna with a poverty of viewable channels. Chest of drawers looked like it was bought at a garage sale from a kid's room. One free internet PC set up in the snack room. Free WiFi. Hotel located virtually in the middle of the shopping district, one block away from the famous entrance to China Town. Up to a two-star rating, but no more. I was a little embarrassed to put my mother in this hotel, but the amenities outside the hotel made up for it. Good for anyone who wants a place to sleep in, but not linger or watch TV.

The only reason to book a room in this hotel is its locatioin - right next to Union Square. Otherwise I would not really recommend it. I used the shared bathroom and toilet only when urgent because it wasn't very clean. Nightclub right underneath in the backyard. Some people even seem to live in this hotel. Nice stay for visiting SFO if you only need a bed, though. Three days was nearly to much. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Take care of your car. The parking costs 26$ per day!

It is a good hotel for the price. Rest room facility is worse given that you have to share with about 16 rooms, but the location is great. It is a little bit noisy which is not totally unexpected given that it is located in the heart of downtown-San Francisco. Anyway, it was my one of the best value stay. And if I have to save money, I will again go to this hotel.

This is a cheap old hostel/dorm in a central location. The building is old. The first night I stayed there with my boyfriend. We got the dirt cheap room with no bathroom. My friend stayed in another room. Her room was much better than ours and had a bathroom. Turns out there was a club/birthday party directly below our room in the corner of the hotel and we could hear everything as if it was happening in our room until 2am. My friend's room was only a few doors down from ours and the party noise in her room was barely audible. I tried to talk to the guy at the front desk and he said that he couldnt switch our room because all rooms were booked. We ended up dragging the mattress from our room to my friend's room and sleeping there. Thankfully, the next night we upgraded to a nicer room and all was well. The other staff and their willingness to help us in other incidents besides this one made up for that night's noise experience: We didnt show up the first night due to a flight delay and they didn't charge us for that night and the staff was helpful and kind holding our luggage the last day before we checked out. There is also a computer for use in the lobby for free. My advice is to pay the extra money and get the room with the bathroom. Sharing bathroom and shower with strangers turned out to be inconvenient and disgusting as we prepped to go to a wedding. You have to wait until they come out and they don't indicate they are in there. The rooms with the bathroom are pretty well maintained and nicer. Try not to go to chinatown very late at night. We went to eat at a restaurant sat night and witnessed a gang fight within our restaurant. We heard gun shots and ran to the back with the rest of the tourists. It was a pretty packed restaurant. The restaurant people acted like it was no big deal and that it happened all the time as patrons hurriedly paid and left. Craziness.

I do not feel that this hotel should be described as a hotel, it felt more like a hostel or student accomadation. The room was small and incredibly noisy at night, the shower was difficult to use and weak, and the door did not lock properly. For the price we paid, this hotel was not worth it. I would definitely not stay here again.

If you are looking for a hotel which provide you with what you need (a bed, shower and TV) centrally located for a cheap price Park Hotel is the place to stay. If you really need to have your breakfast at the hotel or your mint-chokolade on the pillow, pay $40 - 60 more and go to another hotel. The very friendly staff - who is there from early morning till late night - will give you recommondations for everything that is going on in the city: places to eat, museums to visit (even tell you what time they're having free entrance), parks to visit, shows to see etc - and places to avoid (ex. Tenderloin). Thanks to Verdell and Ruby I had the best time ever travelling by myself!

This is a basic down the hallway bathroom and shower place.sink in room. The ancient elevator door slams a lot.at all hours. Most people here are asian, some going to a nearby ESL class. The remainder European. At first glance could have been a dodgey place. Location is almost 10 of 10 steps to union square literally. Rooms are basic, clean IKEA furnished. WIFI was OUT when I was there. First appearance: I asked to see the room prior to check in. It ain't the Ritz! Solid clean safe CHEAP. I will stay there again.

The staff were pleasant and tried to be helpful. My *major* problem with the place is that the rooms do NOT have wireless (even though the website says they do and the man I talked to on the phone before I came also assured me that this was the case), and that caused me no end of headaches because I was in town for a conference and I needed internet access. Not only did the rooms not have this, but the one public computer they had was only available until 1 a.m., ridiculously slow, and didn't work at all for me during a couple of crucial moments. The rooms do not look as nice in person as they do on the website, but it is a good value if you're in SF to see a lot of things. I wouldn't go back, but that's largely because I'm very tied to my computer. If you aren't, I think it's fine. You won't find a better price, in any case.

The Park Hotel is a step above a hostel. We chose the cheapest room and thus had to use the common bathroom and shower facilities, which were always available, but quite old. The room had a TV, which had 4 channels - but there's so much to do in San Fran, you won't be in your hotel room too much. Considering the location and the price, it was a great deal. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown on a very safe street. Don't expect a lot from the hotel, and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

The park hotel is cheap for its location, completely downtown, they offer a wifi that u re not able to use in ur rooms so it s a little useless. what makes me grade it a little badly is when i wanted to cook in their space for cooking with a microwave, there were a lot of cockroaches, very horrible insects inside and outside the microwave so it cut my appetite for hours. but if i didnt go to cook and saw these disgusting things i would have said its an ok hotel for small budget for being dowtown and have ur own room close to the price of a shared room in a hostel.
