Queen Anne Hotel - San Francisco
1590 Sutter St - San Francisco
1-877-662-6988Not the usual downtown hotel, the building traces its origins in the late 19th century, when it was one of the first major structures in the historic Western Addition. Today, the Queen Anne hotel has been immaculately restored to reflect the perfect combination of turn of the century grace and elegance along with comfort and warm hospitality.
Your stay at the Queen Anne also includes a complimentary daily newspaper, weekday courtesy car service to the downtown area, 5 elegant meeting rooms, a business center, 24-hour concierge service, same day valet dry cleaning service and afternoon tea and sherry (4 p.m. - 6 p.m.). Nearby fitness facilities (Cathedral Hill Plaza Athletic Club, two blocks from the hotel) complete with swimming pool, sauna, and tennis courts are also available.
Beatifull place and very polite staff.

The building is beautiful, the location is great - but what really makes this a great place to stay is the friendly staff. Really great staff.

A building of some character, with spacious, old-fashioned rooms. No view to speak of (a lightwell), but one can hardly complain about that at such a price. Friendly and informative staff. Comfortable public areas; and a very good "continental" breakfast (which in USA seems to include appreciably more than bread and jam). Very satisfied overall.

The room with Victoria style is wonderful. But the breakfast time is too short.

We live in British Columbia, Canada. This was our first time in San Francisco and our first time at the Queen Anne. It was recommended by a friend and exceeded our expectations. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. The location is convenient and quiet for a downtown hotel. We loved the ambiance and the Queen Anne was a highlight of our visit to San Francisco. We will definitely go back to San Francisco and to the Queen Anne.

I stayed 8 days. Good: good beds, windows open, bedroom and bath are spacious enough; deadbolt and interior latch; free WiFi worked well; quaint, perhaps overdecorated; breakfast got boring after a few days (OJ, coffee, tea, boiled eggs, sausage, cereal, milk, real orange and bananas; free shuttle to downtown. Not good: my first night boiler went down, so no water in the evening or next morning, but fixed and worked well thereafter. First room was fine, but had mold where bathtub meets wall; I asked that it be bleached clean: it did not happen, I asked again: it did not happen, I asked again: I was moved to another room (front desk people very helpful, I suspect cleaning or maintenance ops not so good). Second roon was fine, except the door latch was nonfunctional, and bathroom heater-exhaust (which worked fine in 1st bedroom) did not work. Not too bad because ROOM heater worked very well, so I heated the whole room, and afterward opened bathroom window for ventilation/exhaust. One last issue: walls are 'thin'; one night my next room reighbour cam in drunk and upset, made a lot of noise, turned on TV loud, etc: almost as if in my room.

we are a young italian couple, We stayed at the queen ann hotel for 2 nights. As we're italians we are used to historic places of charm, history, old furniture and so on... yet the queen ann has fascinated us with its ancient and old fashionable look. indeed the furniture isn't authenthic but in any case the final result is really romantic and cosy. we do not completely appreciated the breakfast ( not enough places to seat, at 10 a.m.the food was lacking...) we really enjoyed the charm of the location, san francisco attractions and restaurants... we truly recommend it. p.s- don't miss the free tea and coffee at the lounge after a long stray on cool san francisco streets!!1

We really appreciated our 3 nights stay at the Queen Anne Hotel. Even if it looks rather "ancient", the provided services are very interesting: large rooms, free internet 24/24, solid breakfast, complimentary drop-off service...The neighborhood is fine, you just have to cross the street to be in Japantown.

This is a quirky off the main street accomodation its more friendly b&b than hotel which gives people the opportunity to chat. The rooms are clean large and unusually furnished our shower room was very small but functional all the same .You get free tea and coffee with cookies each afternoon (with sherry if you like it) The concierge knows his stuff and advised us to tour the city independently by cable car and tram- a good tip and cheaper than paying for the city tour. The breakfast is basic but there are so many local places to eat we didn't find it a problem. A place to try if you are fed up with business hotels and want a personal service.
