Hotel Becks Motor Lodge - San Francisco

a terrible hotel. In a gay surrounding. the entrance looked like Alcatraz. We made a reservation for 2 rooms for 4 nights. There was only one room available. For the first night we got a spare room next to the street. I already made a complain at Venere, but there was no response so far.

Beck's represents themselves pretty accurately, with a positive spin, as one would expect. It's a clean, older motel lodge in an older, raucous neighborhood in a vibrant city that is loud most all night, along a major road. Mass transit, bars letting out, truck delivery, locals having fun, etc. So, for me, BECK's kitsch cashe, is brought to earth with the older, small bathrooms (shower only), stuffy rooms (can't sleep, can't open windows for the noise), comfy beds, mini-fridge, but it's less expensive, in a pricey city. I can't speak to room service as we asked for "no service." Staff can't tell the streetcars to be quite, but they did respond to noisy upstairs neighbors. Beck's is easy to get to, and has off the street free parking. Gay friendly but not overt, health food store, Pete's Coffee, mass transit all near in a happening neighborhood. I would think Beck's would be family/kid friendly, but I wouldn't want to deal with tired kids in the small noisy rooms. I suggest a room on the 3rd floor, along the sides towards the back might be quieter. We aren't stogy. We just want to be able to sleep. Otherwise Beck's is very good. Especially the price & location and helpful staff. Though staff could not direct us to the freeway. There are no facilities to speak of. We were there Wens thru Sun morning.

Price quoted for three days was approx. $350.00. When I checked out the final charges due to so called taxes only, no phone calls, etc. was over $400.00. A trip to Hawaii including airfare with a ocean view is only $1500.00 with taxes for 15 days in a nice highrise hotel. Becks is in the Castro section of San Francisco and there is a bit of cruising within the hotel late at night. Its not a family hotel, "Best Western" type of enviorment. Its a gay hotel in a very gay part of San Francisco.

Not high standard but acceptable. The only problem is there is not air conditioned in the rooms

Great basic accomodations in an otherwise pricey popular area of San Francisco. We have been consistently satisfied with Beck's as a well-deserved Castro area landmark institution.

The best and possibly only good thing about this hotel is the location in the heart of the castro district. I rented a room for my nephew and his wife and was really disappointed at the accomodations and staff. It happened to be during an unusual heat wave in San Francisco and the heat in the tiny, smelly room they were initially given was unbearable. The A.C. did not work and we ended up requesting a different room which they were given but then had to move again the next day. The hotel clerk on the initial check in was disorganized, incorrectly rung up the room and at one point when the power went off in the the office, I had to turn on the breaker switch because he could not figure it out. The rest of the factors included other guests arguing loudly and yelling profanities at each other until around 11:30 p.m. and then resumng their argument at 3:00A.M. until told to shut up by another guest. The hotel staff did nothing to quiet the situation. All in all the hotel was dirty, noisy and really overpriced.

the staff at Beck's take care to provide excellent service. this motor hotel is as good a place as any for the price and is in a convenient loction. .

Beck's was fine as a place to sleep not much more great location, staff good do with some customer service training and to learn how to smile. You stay here for the location not the hotel.

Bon hotel, propre et pratique (proximité tramway et quartiers sympas de Castro et Mission) Chambres propres et assez spacieuses, sanitaires OK, lits confortables. Bon rapport qualité/prix. La proximité du quartier gay est assez évidente : la clientèle est mixte, mais des plans dragues homo se déroulent dans les coursives...rien de gênant, mais c'est à savoir.
