May want to ask for a room on the highest floor to avoid noise of someone above you, also 'thin' walls. Good place to stay if you are staying in your room a minimum of the time. Breakfast?!? Where? Checked out at 9:15 and no sign of any food. Coffee was available in hotel lobby and room.

The occasion was a wedding and my first time in San Francisco. Leaving Ireland at 9am and flying west via Philadelphia we seemed to arrive at the hotel after midnight, but the room was still available. A multi-floor motel, long & narrow with parking on the ground, with a view of The Golden Gate Bridge. No public space apart from the lobby, but safe, friendly urban streets around it.

The hotel is described as 'quiet' but it's anything but. We hardly got a good night's sleep because of traffic noise, particularly during the early morning rush hour. Would only recommend it for people who are noise tolerant. The diy 'breakfast' is poor and pretty sugary. Positive point - it has useful parking space though access is tight, esp. for a larger size car. The location is quite good - places of interest not too far to walk and reasonably near useful public transport. Surrounding area pretty average. Hotel is in reasonable state of repair but could be better - our TV was pretty erratic. Reception wasn't particularly friendly though they were efficient.

We arrived one day late because of flight delays. The staff was very helpful when we woke them up in the middle of the night. The location was good, with walking distance to most of central SF. We got good tips on nice breakfast places and what parts of the city to avoid.

The hotel location is Ok for accessing the popular areas if you don't mind walking a little. However, Motel would be a more accurate description. There are no refreshment services on offer for either drinks or breakfast. However, there are many eating places close by.

Good value, knowledgeable and friendly staff, clean rooms, nothing fancy but had everything we wanted. Excellent location, Polk has a number of good restaurants, bars etc. and access to other areas of San Fran by public transit or walking was excellent.

I stayed in the Castle Inn together with on other person for two nights while on a visit to San Francisco. The location was handy; near Fisherman's wharf, and Downtown, as well as on bus routes that take you most places in the city. The hotel owners gave good tips of where to go in the city, where to stay clear of and other useful little hints, which only locals could give. Apart from that, they were quite funny and helpful, and the rooms were clean and as described. There was even a band "The Black Keys" staying in the hotel at the time, so if they stayed there, why don't you? :)

This was our first time in San Francisco and also in the Castle Inn. I'd recommend it to everyone. Very clean and spacious with everything a traveller could want. The manager was very knowledgable and helpful to us assisting us with all our travel arrangements in the city.If we ever return there will be no other choice for our accommodation. The only thing to let the hotel down was the breakfast which was pre packed pastries too full of sugar and e numbers. Otherwise fantastic.
