Hotel Posada La Media Luna - San Cristóbal de las Casas

The room was very cold at night, air penetrates under the door. It will be convenient to insulate these areas.

We really enjoyed our one week stay at Posada La Media Luna. The 2 double bed room was excellent value for the money. The laptop computer available for guests was handy for EMails. One of the staff booked a taxi for us for a 6 am ride to the airport at Tuxtla, and the driver was there 5 minutes early! The Tierra Madre Restaurant at the end of the street was excellent. We were about six blocks from city centre, easy to walk to, but much quieter than if we had stayed closer to the main square. We went to Agua Azul (wonderful), Misol-Ha and Palenque on a day's excursion - I would really recommend staying overnight at Palenque if I was to do it again: 10,000 curves on the highway, and thousands of speed bumps, and tired by the time we reached Palenque. We also found Na Bolom fascinating. And an excursion to Canon del Sumidero was really enjoyable. Weather was great - low 60's, no rain. And the people in San Cristobal were unfailingly warm, kind and helpful.

The Posada is delightful. The couple who manage the posada are helpful and engaging. The tours that they arrange to the outlying villages are excellent. Alberto was an insightful and culturally sensitive guide to the village of San Juan Chamula -- a "must see".

I recently stayed at the Posada Media Luna while holidaying in Mexico, it was a pleasant little hotel considering the very cheap price. On my second day there, there was no water in the room, but by the time I got back from breakfast, this was fixed. Although they have a restaurant there, it wasn't open. The only real issue I had was the noise, although it is not on a main road, because it is a "U" shaped brick building surrounding the courtyard, with a glass roofed atrium, it was like living in an echo chamber, every little sound echoed through the room.

Nice, clean hotel in a good location between the bus station and downtown. Actually, SCC is a small town, so most places are within reasonable walking distance. Nice, knowledgable owners. You can book tours at the reception. Only negative is the smoking in the common area, close to the rooms. When I was there, both the owners and most of the guests were chain smoking. I detest smoking.

I stayed 3 days in June 2008 and found the accommodation to be of excellent value.

Owners are very friendly. You get there a really good quality for low budget price. Nice place! I would go there back everytime.
