Star Inn Hotel Salzburg Zentrum - Salzburg

It's more than a year since and impossible to remember details, but my immediate memory is that this hotel was very well equipped and comfortable but - compared to other hotels we visited during a fortnight - was rather expensive especially wíth the breakfast. The price was hidden on the home site...

Extremely conveniently located modern hotel. Quick & easy walk (2mins) through the tunnel to the Old Town for the charm & character you come to Salzburg to see. Pity the WIFI didn't seem to work properly on our iPad - it would cut out after about 20mins of being online. Maybe that was a built-in default from the hotel but it was annoying when doing online banking or uploading photos to Facebook. Fantastic Chinese restaurant opposite hotel entrance - no one in there but delicious fresh food & lovely service, heaps of choices, a welcome change from heavy Austrian meals. My husband has stayed at this hotel before on business, & it works well for leisure too.

The Room size is quite good considering that we were 4 (2 kids) of us staying in the room. The location of the hotel is too good and breakfast was also value for money. I will always recommend this hotel to anyone without any hesitation.

This hotel has a very good relationship between price and quality. It has simple, yet comfortable rooms for a reasonable price. It's located next to Salzburg's city center, although you have to go through a pedestrian tunnel under a rock to get into the center. The staff is very solicitous and they all speak good English as well as some Italian. This hotel fits more in the range of "budget hotels" (just like the Ibis brand, offering good quality for good price), so it's not very exclusive. As an example the soap in the bathroom was liquid and nailed to the wall (I mean that the hotel does not offer those bathroom kits that are changed on a daily basis). Well that's not much of a problem since the price is reasonable. Breakfast was excellent though, yet it was not included in the room price (it cost 11 euros per person).

Great location, and great family room. Unfortunately the room had a very strong cigarette smell which was disappointing. It would be nice if non smoking rooms were available. Also Wi-fi would be a bonus.

Prices for breakfast and garage increased during festival period.

Stayed here for one night during vacations. We were 3 persons: I, my wife and daughter (12). Everything in the hotel looks new and very clean. The triple room was quite spacious. We decided not to take breakfast, which is not included into the hotel price, because 11 Euro seemed us too much. The hotel has a very convenient location. A short walk thought a tonnel and you are in the historical center of the city near Hohenburg.

Though the surroundings are bland the hotel is within walking distance to the old down (through the tunnel) and there is a bus stop just opposite. The hotel seems geared to business/short stays as the staff are efficient yet do not show any desire to connect with the guests. Rooms are plain, clean and modern. We had a second window which only had a sheer curtain so it meant we were awake early each day which is not such a bad thing. A bar-fridge in the room would have been useful.

The important fact is that our room was apart from the main building, so to go on the reception desk or to the breakfast we had to go through out yard and it is not very comfortably in winter.

Our stay at the Star-Inn was a very easy and enjoyable one. The breakfast buffet was superior to any we had experienced in similar types of hotels, and best of all was the location, a short walk into the Altstadt and surrounds. The staff were highly competent, friendly, and helpful, and the room, while a little smaller than hoped for the price, was clean and warm. The bathroom was fantastic. We will stay at the Star Inn again.

This is a clean & modern hotel & the family room that we had was spacious and exactly what we wanted. The hotel is not trying to provide all the bells & whistles of a 4/5 star hotel BUT it does the basics extremely well. In addition to the rooms being clean the breakfast was fresh and well presented & staff helpful

Consiglio vivamente di pernottare in questo albergo perchè in posizione ideale se volete visitare il centro della città, a due passi attraverso il tunnel pedonale sotto la montagna.

The hotel was very comfortable, attractive and convenient. The bed was the most comfy I have ever slept in! However, it advertises wifi (which is essential for most business travellers) but I could only access it from the lobby, not the bedroom. This was very inconvenient, particularly as the girl at the desk gave me the codes and passwords, and didn't actually tell me that I couldn't get it in the room I was in. Someone else told me after I called the reception asking for help with connection! Apart from that, it was a lovely and comfortable stay in a very central location. Great value for money.

Perfectly located to visit the main attractions in Salzburg. Walking distance to the old city and the fortress with frequent bus services. Internet terminal available on site. Nearby supermarket to buy everyday essentials. About 20 bus ride from the main train station.

Passt alles. Sogar Sekt und Lachs (!!!) zum Frühstück. Ideale Lage, Festspielhaus durch Tunnel in 5 Minuten erreichbar! Jederzeit wieder!

Very nice hotel with friendly efficient staff. Great location within safe walking distance of old town Salzburg. Fantastically powerful hot shower.

Excellent location less than a five minute walk to the old city, plus bus #1 and #4 run directly in front. Taxi from Salzburg Hauptbahnoff was only about 6Euro. Staff was extremely helpful in booking activities. Hotel was very clean. Breakfast typical, so filling and good.

A short walk away from the meat of the historic city, no frills IBIS approach, breakfast worth the 10euro, and the staff is very helpful. Disagree with the other reviews about the Asian eateries across the street, it was not very good. Avoid tour companies for the Salt Mine Tour and Eagles Nest. Rent a car for the 20KM drive that is a slam dunk.

Location is excellent, 5-10mins walk to old town. The room is very clean and modern,will definitely recommend to everyone the next time you visit Salzburg.

I agree with all the other positive reviews about this hotel. If it is value for money you are after (not romance), there is absolutely no reason whatsoever why you shouldn't stay at the Star Inn. Breakfast at 10Euro pp is not that exorbitant if you have a healthy appetite, especially if you compare it with prices charged in the cafes/restaurants in town. Salzburg is a lovely, clean, safe, romantic and friendly city (if a bit touristy). The nightlife wasn't exactly vibrant, but this also meant that there wasn't a whiff of drunken stag/hen night revellers. For variety, combine this trip with one to Munich, it's just over a 90 min train journey away.

Hotel is located near the old city, and only a short walk to the river. From the airport, just take the Number 2 bus which is 2Euros per person to the centre of the city, then take a 10 minute walk to hotel! (There's loads of maps of the city about!) Once you're in the hotel, you'll find its very quite, clean, fresh and tidy. I just came back and there were no kids at all!? From reading reviews prior to visit, i did not take the breakfast option at the hotel, but there's plenty of places to eat in the centre for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I will be using this hotel again in the future I am sure!

Modern hotel. Great staff. Great location. Only 5-10 minutes walk from the old town. Immaculate,spacious, air conditioned rooms and very quiet. Definitely recommend and would stay here again. Fabulous hotel!

Star Inn Hotel Salzburg Zentrum does exactly what it says on the tin: it provides new, clean, good rooms for only €59,- a night, at a location that is a stone throw away from Salzburg's city centre. The hotel even throws in free wireless Internet access. It would be unfair to describe the hotel as romantic, so if you're planning for a romantic weekend with your significant other, there might be other hotels in Salzburg that will leave more of a lasting impression. If however you are looking, like I was, for a quality place to rest your tired head every night, you can't beat the Star Inn Hotel Salzburg Zentrum!

Excellent placed hotel for access to the old city of Salzburg, just 10 minutes walk to main square. Basic Travelodge style hotel but very clean and very good valu for money at 79euros per room. Breakfast for 10euros also decent value. Overall I would recommend and stay there again.

The room was new! very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was bwautiful.

I would strongly recommend this hotel - a clean, comfortable and excellent value stay, and a very short walk away from the beautiful old town. However, I would recommend future visitors not to pay for breakfast (which, at 10 euros per person, was the only thing representing poor value for money at the hotel) and to find one of the lovely local cafes for a much cheaper and tastier meal!

What I was wondering about is they asked to be payed in advance. We reserved online with credit card number. We were two aged people, with luggages and car at their parking facility. It's a little thing, but could improve the excellent environment impression.

Clean, comfortable hotel, with quiet rooms and good housekeeping. Very convenient position for exploring city centre and surrounding area. We found the corridors in the hotel were at an uncomfortably high temperature, rooms however were ok. Staff were polite and helpful. We would definately stay here again and would recommend this hotel to others.

Fantastic Hotel. Receptionists were extremely helpful and friendly. Attended to our queries in a very professional way. Rooms were clean and spacious, gives a very cosy feeling. Definitely a value for money hotel. Its only a few minutes walk to the main shopping street. Although it is not walkable for the train station, taking a cab to the hotel costs less than Euro 8. Breakfast is rather expensive though, cost Euro 10, which is not included in the price. Overall, an excellent stay and i'll highly recommend it to everyone.
