We enjoyed a fantastic stay at the Hotel Stadtkrug. The room was clean, spacious and had a simple minibar, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the included buffet breakfast (which offered the standard Western European fare of yoghurts, cereals, hams, cheeses, boiled eggs, breads & spreads and sweet pastries, plus bacon and scrambled eggs) was great. The wood panelling and beams throughout the hotel give it a really comfortable, warm feel to it. The hotel is perfectly positioned just 2 minutes walk from the old town. The only very minor negative was the small shower. However the shower water pressure and overall bathroom size was excellent.

Hotel was excellent. Perfect location. Hugo and Eva were very helpful and friendly. Beef in restaurant was first class! We consider that we got good value for money and would highly recommend the Stadkrug. Sooner or later Austria will become smoke free in bars and hotels and that will be most welcome to us as non smokers. We would have scored the hotel bedroom even higher but for the fact that the previous guest had smoked in it prior to our arrival - not the fault of the hotel but not very nice nonetheless.

Excellent location, friendly helpful staff and overall a great place to stay for a visit to Salzburg. The option of discounted car parking nearby was taken up and quite reasonable (€14 a night).

This was my third stay at the hotel. Once again, the Lucian family and staff made my experience wonderful. I was traveling with my elderly mother and greatly appreciated the willingness the family and staff extended to ensure we were comfortable. I'm always grateful for the professionalism and genuine care and concern I am shown at the Stadtkrug. I look forward to my next stay.

Very central location, with easy access to main attractions, shopping areas and night areas but still quite calm during the night. Have a great restaurant downstairs taht you need to reserve in advance. Loved the "antique" style, but for those who lok for renewed or brand modern places this isn't the place for you. Given the location, I believe the sligthly higher place really pays off and would recommend to anyone going to Salzburg. I will surely return there when I visit Austria again!! Love the city!

Excellent location. Staff very helpful. Buffet breakfast was fabulous. Room very comfortable and clean. No hairdryer supplied. Our room must have been above or opposite the kitchen, as we could hear kitchen noises and staff talking when we went to bed, but it didn't last too long. would recommend to anyone.

What can I say? i was really looking forward to this hotel but left with a somewhat bitter taste in my mouth. Rooms, to begin with were good enough to sleep in! Out of 4 lights, 2 didnt work so quiet dark, no air conditioning and pillows were awful. This may seem petty but I feel this wasn't the 4 star hotel I was expecting. The hotel lift is used as a dummy waiter every night to transport food up to the restaurant and we were made to just accept the situation with occasional sorrys. Once, sharing the lift with a waiter, he suggested I could walk down to the reception. This may have been a conversation which was lost in translation but is definitely not how a GUEST should be treated. Futhermore, I wished to use an iron to look after my creased clothes, a situation which is obviously not alien to many travellers. Although corteous, the lady at the desk told me they could only supply this in the morning. Heaven forbid they could assist a customer. The main reason I chose this hotel was due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews on this site. It was this in mind that I lodge these complaints. A very disappointed punter - I have no idea how this is a 4 star hotel.

A very welcoming hotel - we were offered a suite (with expansive sitting room)when we arrived against our booking of 2 double rooms by a very friendly owner. It is very handy for the centre of Salzburg and very close to bus stops to access the station. Typical continental breakfast but also offered scrambled eggs, bacon and boiled eggs. Rooms on the main street could be noisy but very effective double glazing shut out the noise very well. Also has a very good quality (if pricey) restaurant with local dishes including beef from the owner's own herd of Highland Cattle.

This was a great hotel: the location was wonderful (close to restaurants, shops and close to old town and churches), staff arranged a tour and a concert for us, the restaurant was also great as was the breakfast. And we were allowed to look at rooms prior to picking two when we arrived. Some of the beds were too hard for our preference. Would stay again!

We enjoyed two nights at the Stadtkrug. There were three in my family and the room with the extra bed was wonderful and very spacious. The hotel is in a great location, with shops and restaurants close by on a quaint brick street. Don't hesitate to book this hotel.

Hotel Stadtkrug was excellent - particularly the 3-day package we took out. Food in restaurant and location is superb. Rooms and other facilities are good. Rooftop restaurant excellent as weather was quite hot. Only grumble is that both your website and many others cite incorrect facilities eg outdoor pool, mud, private beach etc - apparently these relate to another hotel in the Alps. We took swimsuits etc based on internet info. When we pointed this out, they apologised and assured us it would be changed - but still remains! But overall would recommend and stay here again!

price it is not so cheaper but location it was very good ,you are inside new town of salisburg and you need only to walk trought the bridge to be in old town.good breakfast l'albergo e centrale il prezzo non e proprio economico io ho pagato 125 euro a notte per due ,ma secondo me merita. (mi permetto di aggiungere una cosa, ma salisburgo merita?cosi cosi a meno che di vedere anche i posti vicini in caso contrario basta 1 giorno )

Hotel is really weel positioned in the main street of Salzburg, in Linzer Gasse and you can live the city in a very good way. The owners of Hotel are really nice, kind and alaways at your disposal. It is the second year i go to Salzburg and i will come back certainly to the same hotel considering the good welcome of the hotel's owner.

We had chosen this hotel because the website mentionned that the hotel had its own parking. Upon arrival, we were informed that the hotel shared a parking with other hotels. In the end, it appeared that the parking was in fact a public parking, five minutes walk from the hotel. The lift did not function till the ground floor before 7am and we had to carry our suitcase from first to ground floor. Minimal equipment in bathroom. The hotel is probably best suited to clients coming without a car, provided they do not need to leave early morning.

This is a great location on Linzer Strasse, near river and old town. Room quite comfortable and quiet (ask for a room NOT overlooking street). Amenities ok--no hair dryer in room but when asked reception happily provided one. Nice, secluded roof garden restaurant with surprisingly fabulous lamb! Small bar area in space next to Reception desk is often a hangout for local musicians (everyone in Salzberg is a musician.) Gunther, pianist, and Peter, pianist and on sax, entertained us with medley of Mozart-Jerry Lee Lewis-Sinatra. They also dedicated "New York, New York" to us, as we are from the area and it was Sept 11. We were quite touched by the gesture.

The Stadtkrug hotel was a great place to stay. While not on the side of the river as most of the sights, it was only a 5 minute walk to the center of the old town and the street it's on is very pretty. The room was clean and comfortable with eclectic furnishings and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was good although I think the coffee was instant, which was surprising given the quality of everything else. Good value for money--I would definitely stay there again.

This is truly an outstanding 4 star hotel. The welcome was warm, friendly and very helpful. The room (we stayed in the "double deluxe") was simply outstanding. It was a nice big and very comfortable room with a spacious bathroom. The breakfast was also very good and plentiful. Some might consider the late night noise from the pedestrian street a little load but to be honest I really didn't notice or find it an annoyance. The restaurant (which the local tourist guides list as one of the top five places to eat out in Salzburg) was excellent. Overall, The Stadtkrug Hotel has a classic, elegant, old world charm, which fitted in nicely with the town of Salzburg and our 3 night stay. I WOULD THOUROUGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL as THE place to stay while in Salzburg. If I was to find fault with anything, I would say that initially finding the Stadtkrug Hotel (with the directions provided in English on the WebSite) were not the best. But that kind of only added charm of the whole experience of staying in Salzburg and once you actually find the hotel you may end up wondering why it was so difficult in the first place. FYI, once we got into Salzburg anyway, one quick telephone call to the hotel for directions sorted us out. Jason Cross, Ireland.

This was a lovely family-operated hotel. We enjoyed dining outside on the upstairs terrace and in the calming dining room. Breakfast was bountiful, the wine list was superb and the dinner menu fantastic. Helpful to English-speaking patrons was the menu printed in English, Italian or German.
