Hotel Hofwirt - Salzburg

We had a marvelous stay in Salzburg at the Hofwirt Hotel. Very good service and excellent breakfast too. To be honest the breakfast was high above my expectations. It was perfect. The old town is near, I must recommend the hotel.

Overall, the Hofwirt is an excellent value and we will definitely stay there again (have been there twice)when we're in Salzburg. If you want a quiet room, reserve one that doesn't face the outside towards the street, which can be somewhat noisy, particularly in the summer if you want to sleep with the window slightly open. Other than that, our rooms were comfortable and clean, have modern/updated bathrooms, and flat-screen tvs on the wall. Our favorite aspect is the included breakfast, which is set up buffet-style in a large bright room and offers a variety of good continental breakfast foods. In addition, the hotel is near the beginning of the pedestrian zone going into town, so overall it's an excellent value.

We were very pleased with our stay at Hofwirt Hotel. Having arrived in Salzburg so early in the morning (6:00am)from taking the night train from Venice, the staff on duty at the reception was very kind in allowing us to sit at the lobby and was giving us our room at 10:30am (after one is cleaned up) instaed of waiting for the regular check-in time at 2:00pm. And she gave us free coffee, which is unusual in Europe where one even pays to go to the WC. However, they only kept our luggage as we ended up joining the "Sound of Music" tour from 9:30am-2:00pm. I must say that I am truly impressed with the service we received. The hotel is also very close to the old town and within walking distance. And to go around town, it is very accessible to Salzburg's efficient bus service with bus stops across and beside th hotel. To top it all, the staff arranged for us to have early breakfast at 6:30am, instead of waiting for their regular 7:00am service (our train left for Lucerne, Switzerland at 8:00am and we would like to be at the station early). Thank you, Hotel Hofwirt, for making our visit to Salzburg a memorable one!

Excellent choice: great variety on the breakfast buffet, rooms perfectly clean and beautifully decorated, hotel just 5 mins away from the historic center. Definitely stay there again! :):):)

Hofwirt is a very good cost-benefit deal in Salzburg. Comfortable and professional. I will stay at this hotel if I go back to Salzburg and I will recommend it to other people.

I stayed with my mother in law and infant son for one night and it was fantastic. For only 67 EUR we had a very nice room with breakfast. The hotel put a crib in the room and was very helpful and accomodating. The location is perfect and the breakfast was great. The staff was super friendly and I would definitely stay there again.

We travelled as 4 sisters. Had a wonderful time in the amazingly beautifull Salzburg. Very centrally situated - can walk to many of the sightseeing spots- OldStadt and many other areas. Great service and breakfast- the best cuppachinos!!!Definitely to be recommended!!

I STAY IN SALZBURG FOR 2 DAYS WITH MY FRIENDS. I THINK THAT HOFWIRT HOTEL IS A VERY CONFORTABLE AND NOT EXPENSIVE HOTEL. BREAKFAST IS VERY SPECIAL. STAFF IS VERY PROFESIONAL. I RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

Hotel tranquillo, vicinissimo alla zona pedonale, colazione stile austriaco, ma c'èera anche qualcosa di dolce. più di una pesona alla reception parla italiano. Ci tornerei

Pur avendo una camera che si affacciava sulla strada non siamo stati disturbati da alcun rumore; inoltre il personale è stato molto gentile e disponibile. Colazione varia e abbondante. L'albergo si trova a ridosso della zona pedonale e in pochi minuti si arriva nel centro della città. Consigliato sia per la posizione che per la qualità e il costo contenuto. (Non perdete l'occasione di recarvia al birrificio Die Weisse, poco distante!)

Hotel ottimo per soggiornare a Salisburgo. Praticamente in centro, in pochi minuti a piedi si può raggiungere il Duomo. Colazione buona e parcheggio gratuito all'interno dell'albergo. Note negative: il bagno un po piccolino ma ho visto di peggio e mancano le tende anche se le corsie erano presenti...magari erano a lavare. Comunque lo consiglio vivamente.

The towels weren't clean, it had lipstick marks on it... The breakfast was poor

This hotel is very good,the rooms are a good size, and amenities are adequate in room. You may need to obtain hair dryer from desk. Breakfast was made up of buffet style continental (no bacon and eggs), which was excellent,this will cover individual tastes. Location good to walk to Castle etc. Arriving from station please use taxi Euro 7 approx. Definately reccomend to anyone.

When I entered this hotel, the staff at the reception desk seemed very angry. She said I should check in at 6 o'clock or made a phone call. But I wasn't asked to do so when I reserved. In fact it would be very inconvenient for international travellers like us to make a phone call during our trip. If I knew this request before, I wouldn't reserve for this hotel. We felt a little disappointed with her attitude to us. Except that, the hotel was fine.

Our room was huge but right on the street so it was little noisy. Staff was good and shared bathroom was pretty clean. Metro station was very close but we walked to our destinations and found it not too far from everything. Beds were not that comfortable.

Excellent hotel. Clean, quiet and spacious rooms. Very close to the center of the city and the to the train station as well. Both are within walking distances. Breakfast was very good with many varieties. I recommend this hotel.

This hotel was a great deal for us. We walked to all the sites, and the neighborhood is very safe and clean. The room was very up to date and large. The staff was very helpful and the breakfasts were excellent. We would certainly stay here again.

Dirty bathroom, very old and deteriorated furniture,no internet connection in the rooms as opposed to what is stated on the site.

We stayed for three nights at the hotel, compared to others the room rates are quite low. But the hotel itself looks more than a hospital, specially the rooms (no paintings) and the area before you enter your room. The breakfast room was extremely cold (temperature and athmosphere), the furniture new but not comfortable. But the beds were at least very comfortable. The hotel is located directly at the street that leads to the old town which was definitely the biggest plus of the it. The service staff has no clue according to things like "How can we find out where the Jedermann will take place"? I expect the staff at the front desk to know at least the most basic things which was not the case.

The Hotel is near to the pedestrian area close to the centre. The room was too small and claustrophobic and the cleanless of the room was very poor. Breakfast is very good. Room without air conditioned and too hot in summertime

My mother and me liked the hotel. Is was rebuilt last year and everything is really new. The room and other areas were very clean and the breakfast was wonderful. We recommend this hotel, well located in Salzburg.

Extremely comfortable bed, good quality pillows and bed linen, spotless clean room, excellent contintental breakfast. Highly recommended.

We had two nights and were were on our motorcycle the hotel was very central and close to all facilities, a little noisy as we were overlooking the main road, Salzburg was fabulous, the hotel did a good breakfast and was clean and comfortable, I would recommend!!

Nice and modern hotel within walking distance to the old town. Rooms have no air conditioning/ fans and can get a little warm (but fans available from reception). Staff very friendly and helpful. Free internet, but only one computer available. Filling breakfast.

It´s a Hotel with a good price/quality relationship.And the Surrounding is perfect, you can reach almost all by walking. Only the bed, witch are two single bed, isn´t comfortabe because they are not fixed and so they are moving.

The room was a very basic one and needed to be updated. The hotel was walking distance to all of the areas we wanted to look at during our very limited stay in Salzburg.

This hotel was excellent value for money- especially in an expensive city such as Salzberg! We were four adult travellers and found the hotel to be in a fabulous location, just a few minutes walk from the river and main tourist/shopping district. There were plenty of places to eat (although Austria doesn't offer the most varied menus in the world!!). We had terrific fun on the 'Sound of Music' tour (37 Euros bookable at reception) which was a great way to see the city and the breathtaking lakes and countryside. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and city for a short break and cannot wait to return. PS do not look at BBC weather for predictions on what clothes to take.........we expected 6 degrees and took all our winter clothes.......the actual temperature on each day was about 80 degrees (2nd week in April). The airport transfer by taxi was 13 euros.

Location was great, parking was OK at the side and rear of the Hotel, girls working in the breakfast room were very helpful. Hotel has recently been renovated so it felt clean and stylish. Good value for money

Buena ubicación (muy cerca de los lugares de interes), buena atencion, excelente desayuno, coneccion a internet gratis en el lobby, habitacion comoda y espaciosa. Lo único negativo es que nuestra habitacion daba a la calle, la cual era muy ruidosa.

First stay in Salzburg and this is a beautiful and nice place to stay in. And its a short walk to the Old Town. The receptionists speaks great English and helpful with our requests. Will definitely stay here again if I ever go back to Salzburg.

Hotel staff helped us book tours that were excellent. Great location and breakfast. Be warned, the bathroom in our room was very small but I would stay in this hotel again.

A very nice Hotel in the center of Salzburg, extremely friendly staff, very good breakfast, the hotel is old but clean and the location is perfect. I have heard, there is a new owner running the place, I think he could improve a lot. I will come again next time I stay in Salzburg
