The family room was huge and nicely set up. The staff was very warm and friendly. The location was not a bad walk from the train station and a good location for shops and restaurants as well as sites. Very clean. Breakfast was more than adequate. WIFI would have been nice (they did have a computer for guests available but it was always 100% working).

Olá, Embora bem localizado, o hotel é péssimo. O Banheiro é uma cápsula de plástico(feito banheiro de avião) sem ventilação. É horrível. Andei pela Áustria e Suiça, por um mês e foi, sem dúvida o pior hotel.

Good central location, poor parking as expected but there are garages for about 30 euros a day close around and well marked. You can unload your car right in front of hotel which is nice. Dont worry about driving on pedestrian street. bells from church next door ring early but depending on who you are you might think this is great or a nuisance. Reception helpful but not genuine. Average breakfast in morning but overall not too bad. Coffee was good. Rooms had an old novel feel but carpet was very old. Elevator very small but we could fit the stroller in. Overall a nice old location but the hotel needs some work. Price was way too high for what you get but I guess thats the price of doing travel in such a nice place. Mozarts family is buried with many others behind the hotel. If this bothers you then I would look elsewhere.

We were so happy when we arrived at the hotel and saw our rooms. It was very spacious, the rooms were great, we had the 3 person apartment. The location was great and the receptionist arranged a salt mine tour for us. We would definitely return.

The hotel had charm, a convenient location, and pleasant staff. We had one of the apts. at the front of the hotel -- very nice but EXTREMELY noisy at night - the loud talking didn't stop til about 4 am. Because it was July and no AC we had to have the windows open but couldn't sleep because of the noise. The hotel graciously changed our room to the back near the cemetary and it was very quiet there. However, we needed 2 doubles as all the larger rooms are at the front and these were not available until our 3rd day there. Some said they were bothered by the church bells that start ringing by 7 am. We are early risers, so thought they were charming. The elevator is quaint, wonderful cappucino machine in the breakfast buffet! We would definitely stay again, but ask for the back rooms.

Returned to this hotel after a stay in 2003. Still found it to be very nice. Booked into a spacious apartment room on the second floor that had a a historic charm which suited us perfectly. Close to the 'old town' with many local ammenities at the doorstep. I'd continue to recommend this hotel and return again.

The hotel was in a great location, close to the train station, close to the Old Town, just perfect. I had a church facing room but the church bells didn't bother me. I did think they had wifi and they didn't but they do have a computer with internet access in the lobby available. The room was small but the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good but don't go too late or the options may be gone if they are busy.

We loved this place. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was facing the main street and if the windows were open was a little loud. The double windows easily cut out the noise. perfect location! excellent breakfast included. computer in the lobby for customer use, no wireless available. 10/10.

The Hotel Amadeus, is lying in the heart of Salzburg. If you would like to live in the heart of the city, in walking distance of all the history and romance the city can previde - you are at the right hotel. Every body can erfort the small prices, evan as a singel you still have money left over to go SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes there vare things to buy in the small shops. Other wise you can go on a bustour around Salzburg or go on "The SOUND OF MUSIC TOUR". I will come back another time, no doubt about that.

Hotel Amadeus has a wonderful location in the "new town" just a short walk from the Salzach River and the "old town". It was also a very short walk to Mirabel Gardens. Our party of 5 stayed here for 5 nights in three different rooms. The first two nights, my husband and I were in a room (#12)facing St. Sebastian Church, which is right next door. We found this room to be very noisy at night, as there is a bar just across the street, and noisy patrons talked and yelled until about 4 AM. The bells of the church, though lovely, rang riotously at various intervals, most notably 7AM. We requested a room change to a room facing the cemetery, and this room was peacefully quiet for the next three nights. The breakfast is generous and varied and is served in their lovely "restaurant". The free internet access in the lobby was appreciated by all of us. The lift was a great convenience, as some of us were on the fourth floor. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Amadeus.

We stayed in the apartment (which is two rooms not separated by the doors. Generally it would be perfectly adequate for a couple, or a family with the older children. There are a few things though that need to be mentioned here - at 7am expect your first full set of the bells' music (the church is next door), no child locks on the windows (so a 3 year old could easily climb from the sofa onto the window cill while you are in the shower), no lock on the door on the inside, so, again, if your child is prone to wandering at night, - make sure to move the wrought iron bench to block the doorway. However, when my husband was taking ill on the last day, - the staff was very sympathetic and allowed to stay past the checking out time while waiting for the doctor to arrive (almost 2 hours past!). The location is very good - right in the centre. Plenty of places to eat around the hotel.

We had a nice stay in Salzburg, our room had two bedrooms with a renovated bathroom, very nice and tidy. This was great for us as we were a family of four. The motel was very close to everything we needed (laundromat, supermarket, restaurants, etc). Our room was right next to the church but the bells did not bother us, we found it to be a beautiful sound as we don't have this where we are from (they were actually faint). The breakfast was good and adequate, probably one of the better we had around Europe.

Right in the heart of the town! Excellent hotel but right next to a church. If you don't mind the bells ringing every 15 minutes then it's ideal for those who do not wish to spend a fortune on accommodation. Close to all sights -walking distances, even to the fortress-.

We liked this hotel very much. A great location quite close to the centre. A nice friendly tavern next door. On the down side the church bells are noisy and there is a night club about 200 metres away which is a bit rowdy at a closing time. Apart from this the hotel has our full recommendation.

We wanted a city centre location and the Amadeus was close to all attractions and situated in a lovely pedestrian area in the heart of Salzburg. The staff were welcoming, helpful and accommodating at all times. Our room was huge and had a fantastic recently refitted bathroom which was spotless. Continental breakfast was good and plentiful. Car parking near to the hotel can be a problem as quite expensive at 18Euros for 24hrs. Overall we would highly recommend the Amadeus and would revisit without hesitation.

My single room was quaint and charming, with two windows, one in the bath (street side) and one in the sleeping room (courtyard), practically unheard of in European hotels. For the price this hotel must be very hard to beat. Location scored 11/10. Before booking we saw a review referring to a)noise from street sweeping and b)church bells so asked for and received room to rear and floor other than 1st - experienced no problem on either count, but have a feeling we wouldn't have wherever we had been placed. Sweeping streets in the centre of town! outrageous! Peels of bells from churchs! how dare they! The Amadeus has a feeling of history, quaintness, all facilities required without frills and is perfectly positioned. Hard to see how a stay there could be spoiled.

This hotel was on a mostly pedestrian street, with several good restaurants and shops nearby. It was charming! They had a computer set up by the front desk to send free emails which we took advantage of. There was also a laundry near by (albeit expensive) but we were ready for some clean clothes. Our room had a huge bathroom with 2!!! sinks. It had the typical tub with hand held sprayer, but we got used to those as we traveled around Europe. We liked the location a lot and would definitely go back again.

We stayed in the family apartment with our two college age sons. The hotel is quaint and has a nice character. We had two very large bedrooms and a bathroom. The rooms were very nice and spacious and bright. The hotel is in a great location near restaurants. Our rooms were on the street side and there is no air conditioning so the street was quite noisy in the morning with the windows open. The breakfast offered plenty of choice and our sons were happy. Our first floor room overlooked the street with an outdoor restaurant. Since it was summer and the days were long there were often people talking till late. Morning deliveries were sometimes noisy. Although the hotel was all we expected and the location was good, nothing prepared us for the church next door with the chiming bells beginning at 7am each morning or the street clearning lorries which started at 5.30am each morning. Ok if you want to be early risers every day.

Staff very friendly and germanically efficient, well located a few minutes walk from everything we wanted to see. Very pleasant small but adequate room at the back of the hotel overlooking a church courtyard. There were no surprises. As other reviews note - you cant sleep through the church bells at 0700, - but your in Salzburg - its time to be up and doing anyway. To hear birdsong from the garden was unusual and made up for the bells. I would have liked to be there longer, and would happily stay again

The Amadeus was in an excellent central location. The bells from the church next door didn't bother us at all...it rang at 6 a.m. but it was good since breakfast began at 7 a.m. It was a good landmark that we were getting close to our hotel when we went out. Their breakfast was terrific, scrumptious, with such a variety and in an aqua room with bunny accessories - very charming. The access to the internet was great, we took a cab from the train station. We could walk to everything we wanted to see. As soon as we arrived, we booked the 2 p.m. Sound of Music Tour which began 20 minutes later. Sabine was of great help, very knowledgeable and always smiling. I'm glad we stayed there. The only thing being on the 2nd floor, our bathroom window looked right into the street and if you used the toilet or took a shower, if the blinds weren't drawn, I'm sure you could be seen as it is a very high traffic area. Other than that we were highly satisfied.

We spent Christmas at the Amadeus and enjoyed it a great deal. We had requested a family apartment and thought that it would be two connecting rooms. Instead we were in one (very large) room, with an anteroom. That was the only very minor negative. Bathroom was also very large, staff was friendly and helpful both to us and other guests. We corresponded via email with the hotel and they had made dinner and concert reservations for us in advance of our arrival. We also needed to get laundry done over the Christmas weekend - as everything was closed the housekeeping staff did it for us for a very reasonable price. Excellent breakfast included in the price. Noise from the church next door was not a problem. Night clerk at front desk had limited English, but tried hard.

Though the double room was OK in acoutrements, it was on the small size in relation to similar pensiones in Austria and Italy on this trip. The bathroom was a tight squeeze on a good day. The convenience of having e-mail access in the lobby, however was terrific. The deal-breaker was the bar across the street, full of vociferous patrons late into the night into morning....not the hotel's fault but something to take into consideration when choosing a restful place to sleep. St. Sebastian's church is next door and they are fond of pealing their bells at 7:00am.

Our only complaint was that, although we booked six months ahead, when we arrived there was no triple room for us. This meant that we have to sleep in two separate rooms the first night, then move into a (very nice) quadruple suite. Since there was no extra charge for the larger room, this worked out OK, but it was not a great welcome on a rainy evening. Also because of this the hotel inadvertently only charged for three nights and I had to point out to them that I owed an additional night. The major noise issue is the church bells next door, which start at 6AM. But you get used to it, and the church has been there a lot longer than the hotel! But on balance I definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed in a triple room which was extremely spacious and full of character. Facilities within the room were very good and the hotel itself was in an excellent location, very short walk to all amenities. The breakfast was very good, plenty of choice. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. The only criticism is the noise from outwith the hotel, at 0700 hours every morning the bells of the adjacent church ring for approximately 15 minutes. That however is only a minor irritation and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone.

The location is great as it is in the city center. However, there are lots of things to be improved especially the cleanliness. Our family room was in fact two separate bedrooms and a bathroom enabling some privacy once the children were in bed. Both rooms were beautifully decorated and had comfortable large iron beds. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet with plenty of options for the children and the dining room was as stylish as the bedrooms. The hotel was centrally located and within an easy walk to Salzburg's attractions. We would not hesitate in recommending it to other families.

Very good location; easy access to old town. Quiet pedestrianised area. Room clean and tastefully decorated. Enjoy the free coffee and tea served in the afternoons. Dining room can get busy at breakfast time. Overall, good value and we would recommend it.

We has booked 2 double rooms but because of a train strike in Austria these were not available so for the first night we shared a two roomed apartment with our friends -- two separate bedrooms but only one shared bathroom. This was a little inconvenient -- for the 2nd and 3rd nights rooms were made available for us. The staff were helpful in sorting this out.

The rooms although clean were a little tired - with marked & scuffed furniture. The Bathroom was extremely clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was superb. It is not luxurious but basic & very clean in the heart of the town - really good value for money & very helpful staff.

All would be fine if the welcome had been friendlier. We had advised on booking that our train would not get in until 00.30am. Hotel locked up and raining hard..With much head shaking we were told they were fully booked and we must have made a mistake. Only by showing internet confirmation did we convince them. It didn't spoil the stay as we realised the employee was half asleep and not intending to offend us! Would go again as very convenient indeed.

The hotel Amadeus is located very well and is within easy distance to stroll to the old town, cathedral and fortress. The staff can organise a minibus to collect you for various tours and trips. Our room was very clean and well furnished, breakfast was good too. Highly recommended - enjoy your stay!

Very good location located just across the river from the old town of Salzburg which can be reached easily by foot in around 10 minutes. Hotel faces onto a pedestrianised street (Linzer Gasse) which may pose problem from a car access point of view. I seems that you can drive into the pedestrianised area to drop off luggage as long as you are no longer than 15 mins. Rooms facing onto Linzer Gasse such as ours can be noisy due to late night street noise at weekends from late night nigt clubbers. Good buffet breakfast in bright turquoise blue upholstered breakfast room. Take your sunglasses !

We understood that we had booked two double rooms with en-suite facilities but when we arrived we were allocated a double room and a twin room (apparently designed for children) with a shared bathroom and toilet. The information supplied on the website at the time of booking stated that Venere customers would receive a 10% discount (or a free night if the stay was more than two nights). The hotel refused to honour this.

The location is great for sightseeing. Although the room is very nice,I did not spend too much time in it. The hotel is situated right next to a chuch that has bells going off every so often, but the two sets of windows minimized any disturbance There is a bus form the train station that stops at the Maribelle gardens, which is pretty close to the hotel. I had no problem walking to the hotel from the train station with a 40lb pack on. The bridge to the old city is only a few short blocks away with a number of good restuarants on the way. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a large spread for breakfast which was included. I would certainly stay here again

On the websire it was stated that free coffee was available on the terrace in the afternoons, however there was no evidence of any coffee and we could not find a terrace.

The Amadeus Hotel reallocated us to another hotel because of building works. The Amadeus is in the middle of a pedestrian area and is therefore not suitable for people touring in cars. We stayed at the Hotel Trumer-Stube at the same price as had been quoted The review is against this hotel

Great location. Be aware Hotel is in a pedestrian walk area, normally closed to traffic. You can however drive your car to the front door to unload your luggage. Breakfast good. Staff overworked one day therefore breakfast table not fully stocked (dishes, breads, meats, cheeses, yogurt). No A/C, so if hot in Salzburg like summer of 2003 yikes! Car parking in garage extra 14.50 Euro/24hours or park on street (if you can find a spot nearby.

The noise was unbelievable for this pedestrian street. It is the route home for drinkers across the bridge. All night long people talking, yelling, fighting. Oh and you are right next door to a church that rings it's bells every 15 minutes! breakfast room was dirty. Can't recommend.

TV did not work & no attempt made by P.M. desk clerk to rectify the situation. Carpet and walls appeared to have not been cleaned since installation (years ago?) Bedding was clean. Noise level from drunks on our street side window lasted all night. A redeeming quality was an excellent breakfast served by a friendly staff. Morning check out clerk was also very friendly. I have traveled on business extensively for 25 years, so comments are not from some naive home bound soul.
