We stayed at the Adlerhof as we had a night in Salzburg en route to Ljubljana (travelling by train). The room was clean & although fairly small, it was good value for the price. Also, there was a room adjacent to reception with tables & a couch where we ate a pizza- and were offered cutlery & plates by the man on reception. The Adlerhof is certainly not in the Old Town, but for the price and the proximity to the train station, it suited us well.

This hotel is within a few minutes walk of the railway station and within a 15 minute walk from the old town. It is also very close to the various bus lines that run throughout the city. The rooms are clean, prices are reasonable and a decent breakfast is provided for the guests. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms facing the street are exposed to traffic noise during the day (during the night, traffic is light and the room is reasonably quiet).

The hotel was ok, the services were good but it was a little bit unpleasant that in the New Years Eve night and the following night, when returning to the hotel we had to explain to the man in the reception that we weren't looking for a room because we were already accommodated there and he finnaly let us in but pointed the watch (as if it was to late to come). As far as I know there was no curfew. But the rest was pretty good.

We spend just one night at Adlethof, but were very satisfied and would come back again. We even got a very spacious room (no.2) with a four-posted bed! Very friendly and helpful staff, easy parking in the courtyard, reasonable breakfast and it's only 15-20 min walk to the centre. We bought the 24-hour Salzburg card from the hotel and it was money well spent as it includes free public transport, entry to all main city attractions, a boat trip, Hellbrun palace and gardens, Salzburg zoo and the Untersberg cabe car. We managed to see all we wanted in 24hrs, but if you want to see a lot and enjoy yourself get the 48hrs card and stay 2 nights... you won't regret it.

If you are looking for a hotel close to the station that offers reasonable value for money and excellent / friendly service, then the Hotel Alderhof is recommended. The hotel is within 5 minutes of the Railway Station and within a 20 minute walk to the Old Town. The room we had (for three adult persons) was both spacious and spotlessly clean, with lift access available. (Note: Our friends had a double room which resembled a bit of a "dog box",so suggest a large room be requested at time of inquiry / booking). The beds were comfortable and the breakfast provided was more than adequate. Staff service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. At the time of booking, we enquired about availablity of restaurants in Salzburg for New Years Eve and the Hotel provided a shortlist from which to choose. In conclusion, a good basic Hotel, although the absence of accepting credit cards was a little difficult to follow in this day and age.

Welcoming staff, old-fashioned but tasteful decor, fair breakfasts. Overall we were happy here and would return. The area of town was a little seedy but it is not far to walk into the heart of Salzburg or to the train station.

Directions to hotel from train station were not very clear. Once we asked a taxi driver (when we gave up after circling the same area), we were fine. A map would really help b/c the hotel is actually quite close to the station.

This is an ideal property if you need to be near the railway station - just 5 mins walk away and good facilities nearby - e.g. laundry. 15 mins walk to the old town so really very convenient and good value for money. Buses also go nearby.

This was my mother's first trip to Erope, and especially we needed a quiet place for her to recover from the flight! Adlerhoff was a painless walk from the train and w=nce we realized we could walk to the old town along the river we were exceptionally happy.

Adlerhof Hotel was a lovely, friendly place. Even though it is situated near a few sex shops, it didn't matter because it was within walking distance from every thing else and we always felt secure within and out of the hotel. A delicious breakfast was provided every morning. I would highly recommend this hotel.

A cozy hotel a short walk from the main train station. The "traditional" Austrian style of the rooms was a treat, especially the little four poster bed. The people at the front desk were some of the friendliest and most helpful I encountered on my entire European trip. I can't commend them enough for their service and hospitality. There's also an internet cafe right across the street. Other reviewers have warned of the many adult shops in the area, but I thought they were really quite inconspicuous and don't think it would be an issue taking kids.

Very nice hotel. Not cheap for being 15 minutes outside of the town center though. The staff was very willing to help us. The rooms were spacious and clean. It was also super convenient because it was right near the train station and we were on a tight schedule. We would definitely stay there again.

Service, room and breakfast were good. There was a bit of traffic noise from the street which didn't bother me but it bothered one of my fellow travelers who had sensitive ears. The hotel is conveniently located close to the central trainstation. My only objection is that the hotel is located in a boring neighbourhood close to some porn shops.

Only real problem was when leaving luggage for the day in foyer, no real security. You tagged your bags, but anyone could walk off with an extra bag. Other than that, a good choice.Great location, close to station, easy walk to centre city. (Quaint 4 poster bed, gave us a good laugh and a good sleep)

Not a nice area at night unless you like sex shops, it didn't feel very safe walking back in the evening. Room was poorly furnished and felt very 1970's, bed was tiny and the room was either very hot or very cold. No fridge or coffee making facilities. Whole place was a bit drab. Handy for train station & airport bus but a good 30min walk to old town. Staff were friendly though not especially welcoming and they don't take credit cards which is crazy for a modern city hotel.

My wife and I unfortunately only stayed one night, and after seeing the sights in Salzburg wanted to stay longer, but we had other travel arrangements. This was surely one of the highlight of our stay in Austria. I will certainly return one day to see the rest of the city! Well located for transport but 15mins walk from the pleasant areas of Salzbug. As a base it is okay and was not dirty or noisy. Main complaint that the bed was old and excessively squeaky. Other complaint was the breakfast which was poor in terms of quality and selection options.

Nice room near the train station, about a 15 minute walk to Altstadt. This isn't a great area, but we had no problems walking at night. I stayed here 20 years ago, and considerable updating has been done, including a big breakfast room, elevator, and a new wing.

My husband and I stayed at the Adlerhof and were more than pleased with our stay. It's only a 5 minute walk from the main train station and about 20 minutes on the bus from there to the airport. Our room was pleasant and clean and the breakfast was adequate. There's little in the immediate surroundings of the hotel, although we were made welcome at the local pub, and it's only a 15 minute walk into the centre of Salzburg. The hotel booked us onto the Sound of Music tour, which surprisingly didn't cost us extra, and the coach picked us up from the Adlerhof. The Sound of Music tour comes highly recommended by us as does Salzburg generally and the Adlerhof.

This was my first stay in the Pension Adlerhof but if I want a budget hotel in Salzburg I'd stay there again. The sex shop opposite is unfortunate but there was no unpleasant or rowdy behaviour and it did not impact on our stay. If you visit in summer you might want to note thatthere is no air conditioning but it is not something I expected for the price. The staff were friendly and welcoming with excellent English and could not do enough to help us.

The staff was very friendly & extremely helpful when a medical emergency arose. The rooms were clean and spacious, comfortable beds, love those big down pillows & comforters. The rooms accommodated our family comfortably. The breakfast buffet was simple & fresh - eggs , fruit, juice, cereal, meats & cheeses. It got us going for the day. The best restaurant, recommended by the staff, on our trip( all-organic, the name escapes me)was a short walk away. The area is not the best, a bit run down, but there was a lot of construction & after that is done it will give the neighborhood a bit of a face lift. About a 30 minute walk to the city center or 10 minutes by car. There are plenty of garages, not expensive. Shopping was fun with a nice mix of touristy goods, Austrian folk art & clothing, etc.

Remeber to take your alarm clock. The people who work the night shift are UNRELIABLE. We asked for a wake up call, and the guy at the desk said "Sorry I forgot to call you earlier." As a result, we missed our train. The location is good because it is close the train station, but a good 15 minute walk from the city center. Also, make sure that you take cash because you can't pay by credit card. The breakfast is decent: Jam, eggs, bread and cereal. Overall, I would stay here again, but would take an alarm clock.

This is one of the best value for money to stay in. It is only 5 minute walk from the railway station and 20 mins (flat) walk from the centre of town. Email across the street. Owners insisted we have breakfast at 6:30 am so we could catch early train, even though breakfast normally at 7. This is the second time we stayed here and keeps getting better.

We made a block booking and all room types were available. Proximity to railway station and bus station make travelling around from the hotel easy. It is also on the trolleybus route from the airport. The Old Town is bit further away, but still only 5 - 10 minutes walk. Surroundings are just streets, but no problem if you don't expect to sit outside near the hotel. Breakfast is the typical European continental type, with just about enough variety to satisfy your hunger before you set out for the day.

A very handy hotel for the railway/bus stations. A bit of a walk to the old town so may not be well situated for the less mobile. Our room was at the rear of the property so it was very quiet. Don't let the 2 sex shops on the other side of the street put you off - they don't interfere with your stay. Breakfast was very basic and would benefit from more variety. And they don't take credit cards which could come as a bit of a surprise for many a regular traveller.

We were disappointed with this hotel/pension. It really was in a very depressing part of town opposite a dreary block of flats with sex shops and strange night clubs on the ground floor. the interior of the room was drabber than it appeared from the web and the breakfast offered little choice and poor quality produce. Not good value for the money. It should have been more like 55-60 euros per night in winter. perhaps there is not enough competition in Salzburg?

I premise that I have sojourned only a night with my family. Positive comments: comforting beds, spaciousness of the room (three beds), silent environment (apart the people of the other rooms), good breakfast, WC separated by the local sink/shower. Negative comments: far from the center (20 mins. afoot), no credit cards for payment. In general I can affirm that the relationship quality/price is good. I hope to be you somehow of help. Fortunately we only stayed one night at this pension. Although it was conveniently located close to the train station, it was either a bus ride or about a 20 minute walk to the old town. It is located in an area that was undesirable (with sex shops across the street). As for the rooms, the pictures they show on their web site is definitely dated. It was a simple pension, but smelled musty. The water pressure was definitely a problem and there was no soap or shampoo provided in the shower. Definietly not worth the price.
