The attendant on duty when we arrived was incredibly rude and incompetent. When I arrived I told him I had a reservation and produced a print out of my confirmation from Venere. Without even looking at it he dismissed me and said the hotel was full and that there were no rooms anywhere in Salon de Provence due a swimming competition. I told him that I had a confirmed reservation and he said he had never heard of me and that it was impossible that I had a reservation. I asked him if he could recommend another hotel in the area and he said no, that the only place I could find a room was in Aix, 30 km away. I kept pressing him, telling him that I had a confirmed reservation and finally, after at least 10 minutes he asked to look at my print out. I pointed out my last name to him and he said "Oh, Harvell! Yes I have your reservation." This needlessly stressful situation, which was imposed on us by this unbelievably incompetent desk clerk, put a damper on what we had hoped would be a wonderful trip to attend the wedding of a dear friend. In the end, we got our rooms (which were much, much less than desirable due to their cramped size) and we spent two uneventful nights in the Hotel D'Angleterre. This all said, were it not for the incredibly obtuse, rude, and unhelpful attendant who we encountered immediately upon our arrival, the less than desirable accommodations would have been much more tolerable. Because of this employee, I would not stay at the Hotel D'Angleterre again and I would not recommend it to my worst enemy.

Staff pleasant and kind, although only French speaking. Great location right in the town centre. Rooms clean and comfortable but tiny (double comfort)- very small for a couple. Despite website indications it is not a suitable location if travelling with cat/dogs. Fine for the single traveller/business trip.

This is an inexpensive hotel in a very pretty setting. Some of the rooms facing the interior of the building are hot and rather airless in summer and not all rooms have the option of air conditioning (which costs extra) but those overlooking the front and back of the building are airy and light with nice views. Staff are helpful and service is good. The hotel is excellent for the price. Parking outside the hotel can be a problem as the roads at the front and back of the hotel are fairly congested in summer. Car parking is metered and there is not always enough room in the hotel garage for guests to park.

During my stay in the hotel,it's ok,though they don't have a elevator and after ate the breakfast I usually didn't feel very good because of the cafe. The reception is for 24 hours and they clean the rooms everyday. The question is after I checked out:first, they asked me to pay for the breakfast I never ate because the host said he had prepared for me.And second, they charged me more 5eu than the price show on the net every night.I didn't find that until I left Salon(Yes,a little bit stupid but I was in a hurry to catch the train and I didn't feel good that morning.).I have sent them email to ask my money(more 5 eu for every night) back but there's no answer even in French(they don't speak English). So,for the breakfast I never ate and extra 5eu every night,I paid them "extra" 43eu!!Almost can stay there for one more night!!Money is not a big deal but I don't feel I have been well "respected".I strongly suggest before you check in,confirm the price again. And if you don't need the breakfast you haved to tell them very clearly.

Least expensive room on our trip. Very clean and spacious. Noisy area in Vieux Salon. Close to everything. It was stifling hot in our room and we were not aware it was equipped with air conditioning. When we asked downstairs for an electric fan, we were told that the hotel had only one, and the desk clerk reserved it for himself. We were not told that for and extra $10 we could use the air conditioning unit, which was quite well hidden. Would use them again though.

Car parking - there was none! - Your web site states free parking and a garage. I was told this is not true, take it up with you. So I am. Had to park half a mile away. My choice of this hotel was because it had parking. But it doesn't matter, as I am only English - Thats how we were made to feel by our "host"
