Hotel Le Lido - Agay, Saint-Raphaël

I think prices are too muche expensive even if the sourrounds are very nice and the position of the Hotel it's ok.

Nicely located right on the beach in a quiet part of the town. Owner/operator was extremely informative. He even went out his way to help us when our rental vehicle was struck during a side trip. We stayed 3 nights here as a base to visit Monaco and Cannes and will return on future trips.

The location is excellent, right on the sea and with easy access to countryside through an internal road (rather than the long and jammed coast road). The hotel advertises a private beach that doesn't exist (you have to pay or you can use the excellent public beach). The hotel advertises free wireless Internet access but that was broken during my stay in Aug 2008. Beware that all rooms are at street level, so you can't leave the windows open if you care about security. The beach bar/grill located just in front of the rooms is convenient but rather expensive and creates some noise and smell at day time (it closes around 11PM).

We had two rooms: one large double on ground floor (there only seems to be one floor) facing a private beach (but with no sea view) and a double for single use facing the laundry hanging around the back. 35€ difference between the two rooms but worth paying extra. Very friendly welcome and convenient motel-style parking for the more expensive rooms, but beware the very misleading "hotel front view" photo on Venere: the hotel is the small, almost invisible building by the sea that looks like a shack with a barely distinguishable "hotel" sign, the more attractive 2-story building behind it is actually across the main road that runs behind and nothing to do with it - a very clever camera angle...
