We were appalled by the treatment we received from check-in to the next morning. After traveling for over 36 hours, we had no idea this "charming resort" on the bay would be an experience in unwelcomeness. We were refused the offered valet service, given obscure directions to the (unpaved) parking lot, and had to make two trips from this lot with our luggage in the frosty rain. When we inquired about room service, we were given the number to the local Papa John's Pizza. At 3am, we received a phone call from the front desk asking us to please keep the noise down - noise from whom or where, we still do not know. After traveling for 36 hours to the opposite side of the PLANET, I don't know who would have energy to be noisy. Moreover, if the walls of the resort are made of rice paper, that is not our problem either. After the gentleman at the front desk was done accusing us of being noisy, he didn't allow me to explain that we were SLEEPING and that I apologise for any inconvenience, but the noise must be coming from elsewhere, he HUNG UP on me. BOTH mornings we hung our breakfast menus on the door handle of our room (per instructions on the menu & the room service book), we woke-up to NOTHING. We have NEVER received such horrible treatment and made to feel so unwanted. I will tell everyone I know that if they're visiting the Tampa Bay area, avoid this wretched & inhospitable dwelling of ill-repute. I guess we should have taken the advice of others and stayed at the Vinoy, which by the way, IS THE GEM of the Tampa Bay area...in St. Pete!
