Very welcoming and accommodating staff. Hotel well situated, within easy walking distance from the centre of Rouen, just round the corner from La Tour Jeanne d'Arc in one direction and the Musee des Beaux-Arts in the other. Would definately go back to this hotel if I visited Rouen again.

Very French - shabby chic. Clean and central. We were quoted 7 Euros for parking but we chose to park in the secure underground car park (Delacroix) for 12.40 Euros. Note this is a 24/7 facility BUT the Delacroix entrance (just round the corner from the hotel entrance) is closed 23.00 - 07.00. Using the main entrance outside of these hours made for an interesting few minutes. Room was a gem, very clean but the noise from other rooms was noticeable. Very handy for old Rouen. Jeanne D'Arc and Lancaster Bombers were a feature of our evening stroll. Restaurants in the old square can be pricey and some only serve food at lunchtimes.

17th century building reasonbly well renovated, close to the attractive city center of Rouen. My room matched the general atmosphere of the building: I found it very sombre! But it and the bathroom were clean. Pretty good value for money. No restaurant in the evening, but many nice eateries closeby. Continental breakfast correct for the price. Recommended for a short visit.

This place looked nothing like the pictures. We were incredibly excited about staying at this hotel after seeing the pictures online but found it only to be a HUGE disappointment! The hotel itself had potential but was in great need of a renovation and updating. The walls and doors were paper thin, we were woken up three times in one night to the guests above us and their squeaking bed... Forget about sleeping in because you can hear every door on the floor as it opens and closes. Plus the area where the hotel was located was full of graffiti and honestly I was more than nervous when walking around at night! There is no parking on site, which is fine and indicated on the website, but we were told that parking would only cost 7 euro per day at a public garage on the street over but when we went to pay we were charged 12 euro! We were so happy to leave and would have left sooner if we wouldn't have lost the money deposited on the room! Do not stay here!! I would not recommend it to anyone I knew!

Great location although it was a little hard to find. I did not have a map which was my fault. Very, very helpful and friendly host. He recommended a restaurant for us which we enjoyed. He helped my husband figure out the parking on the street payment system. All in all, a very good experience. The building was architecturally significant, c. 1650, a typical half-timbered Normandy home. There is no elevator and the room we had was on the third floor, so be warned. Breakfast was very good and complete.

First, we got a smaller room (but it is not important) and only have one small old cloth cabinet (seemed very easy broken and actually no enough space for one person (the room is for two people as well as we really have two people to stay) keep cloth in the cabinet. The toilet space of the room was very strange and the shape of the room was also not good. May be total area of the room was not too small but the space could not be used due to floor plan of the room. On the second day, the owner changed another room for us upon our request and the second room was better. If we need to stay in the first room whole period, I will deduct two points on every item in my rating. Reaaly, this hotel was too old and many things waiting for renovation

Accoglienza e disponibilita' ottima del personale, l'hotel si mostra carino e in sintonia con l'ambiente caratteristico normanno nei colori e nell'arredamento, ed e' quello che cercavo e che mi ha fatto star bene nel soggiornarvi. Holiday. Excellent location, near a nice park and close to museum and within walking distance to the city.Car parking was near by in an underground car park close to hotel with reduced parking rates. Lovely old hotel I would recommend it but not for the disabled or infirm, as very winding staircase to the rooms.

Great value hotel, missed it on the first pass as it is in a little one way system but its not to difficult to find. Park at the nearby underground car park and walk up, its easy , although when you come out of the car park it is a bit disorientating as it has several exits! The hotel is clean, and the staff were very helpful. Its well placed for the station, several museums and the main gallery and is about 10 minutes walk from the Catherderal and some great restarants in the medieval centre. Have only scored the hotel low on quietness due to a drunk causing trouble in the road outside the hotel (Not the hotels fault!) late at night - not a event that was repeated. :-) 0

My wife and I have stayed several times in Rouen, but this was the first time that we had stayed at the Hotel Morand. The room's floor sloped, in consequence, so did the level of the bed. Rectifying the bed level would have been an easy task. There were splits in the floor covering. The standard of the decorative and construction finish were poor. The wardrobe was small and provided three bent wire hangers. The shower was good, but to use the basin the shower door had to be left open. To use the toilet one had to turn sideways to get into the tiny space between the shower and the wall in which it was located. There were no hooks or rails on which to hang towels. Breakfast was sampled but once, because the coffee was cold and the croissant made by a bricklayer. The owner was polite and helpful, but should have spent more time on quality and presentation. I am sorry, we are not normally negative people, but we were not impressed.

We are a middle aged couple, stayed in Rouen for a couple of nights to visit the town and also to see the first boats arriving for the Armada 2008. The hotel is extremely well located, a few minutes from the station. The "Musee des Beaux Arts" is at the back of the hotel, the Tour Jeanne d'Arc a street above, a brilliant location to visit the town. I chose the hotel because of the photographs on the website and I was not desappointed, the breakfast room and lounge are just delightful although from the exterior you would not believe so. The whole hotel has a typical norman decoration. A garded paying car park is located at the back of the hotel. Very handy and safe. I would have liked maybe the room could have been a bit bigger and tea and making facilities would have been nice. I loved the staircase. The hotel is very good value for money, centrally located a lot of character, good service.

Great location, a 5-10 minute walk to the center. If you like a more modern hotel this is not for you. We loved the charm of this old 17th century hotel. The owner and his wife are trying to preserve the character. They have renovated many of the rooms. Ours was small, but so cute. The plumbing is loud, but with a building that old it is to be expected. This is a great value hotel. The breakfast room downstairs is beautiful....with the original fireplace, big cozy chairs and half timbered walls. We didn't try the breakfast, but the room was a nice place to sit and read.

Nice clean hotel in a favourable location for tourists in Rouen. The hotel is right next to a large underground parking garage which was very convenient for this small city. Two floors of the hotel were under renovation while we were there so it was quite loud during the day. The room itself was well kept but old. The floor was uneven, the door to the bathroom wouldn't close all the way, but this wasn't a huge issue for us. The bed was not that comfortable, it sagged in the middle and squeeked. Lastly the walls are quite thin so you can hear other guests talking at night. Wireless is free in the lobby and the signal may not reach your room.

The Morand is a nice, clean hotel close to the railroad station and within easy walking range to Rouen Cathedral and downtown. The employees are eficient and kind, and prices are quite reasonable. Perhaps the only point (for people traveling with heavy suitcases) is that there is no elevator.

The Morand is a nice quiet two star hotel very conveniently located for tourists who are looking for a comfortable quiet place to stay, but near enough to walk to the museums and monuments. It is situated on a side street off the main boulevard coming from the train station. It is charming typical old world hotel where I had a nice breakfast of cheese, baguettes, croissant, coffee, orange juice, applesauce and yogurt every morning before walking the streets of Rouen. It is barely a few hundred feet from the incredible Musee de Beaux Arts with the second largest Impressionism collection in the world, and where I was well pleased to see Modigliani had his own room. Around the corner from that is the ironwworks museum situated in one of many beautiful medieval churhes, and the other direction the ceramics museum and the tower where of Joan of Arc was held captive. The owner of the hotel was very nice, dragged my very heavy bag up the stairs for me, and seemed to always be there except on the weekend. When I left, I walked to the train station pulling two bags in about 5-10 minutes, and enjoyed eating at the nearby Cafe de Arrivee on several occasions. You are in the heart of Normandy, and I highly recommend you brushing up on your French before going. I arrived by train from Paris (a grueling experience coming from CDG), but the town looks fairly easy to navigate by car (unlike Paris). There was absolutely no distance issues for walking (for me) to anything on the tourist map. The antiquities museum was also a highlight for me with Merovingian tombs, lots of Gallo-Roman artifacts, and remnants of churches that had been destroyed during the war.

Our stay at Hotel Morand was very pleasant. The hotel is old, but the rooms are spacious, the bathroom is very nice, and the shower was roomy and the water good and hot. The staff was very competent and gracious and friendly. The neighborhood was a little noisy at night because of the cars zooming down the street. The hotel is in walking distance of good eating, shops and the cathedral. We would probably stay there again.

Charming old hotel built in the Norman-Tudor style one sees everywhere in Rouen. Extremely well located within easy walking distance of downtown spots for shopping and site-seeing. The concierge was charming and helpful with an extensive knowledge of restaurants and things to do in Rouen. Hotel has no elevator. It was not a problem for me but could be for others as there are 4 floors. Breakfast was very French with croissants, pain au chocolat, baguette (une flute), cheese, jam and coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Realistic expectations are needed in France. There is very little space especially in older hotels, but if you want a taste of the real thing and to be right in the heart of a French town with all the culture Hotel Morand is for you. If you are a public person (I am not) they have a great lobby with a huge fireplace, exposed timbers and comfy furniture where you can relax, read, visit, whatever. Highly recommended.

A place is unclear. When shutting the door of an entrance, you have to warn against making a loud sound. Since a shower room and a toilet were the things made from after in the room and the wall of a shower room had not attained them to the ceiling of the room, the room was filled with humidity after the shower. The button when passing a toilet was unclear. However, neither is big problems. Although a building is old so, it has effect and the width of the room and its cleanliness are enough. It was easy to catch an employee's English and it carried out correspondence very polite and kind to the Japanese who does not understand language well. It has been satisfied although he only stayed overnight. I want to stay again, when there is an opportunity.

Beautiful old building with traditional older style furnishings which were a real feature along with the unlevel stairs and out of square walls.

Albon gave us a wonderful welcome and wasvery helpful in recommending places to eat. We missed the market square restaurants but enjoyed an excellent meal art Pascalines at very reasonable prices. We loved the "medieaval" decor of our room, which was a very good size and the ensuite bathroom was more than adequate, fortunately we were on the first floor and did not have to negotiate the spiral stairs to the fifth floor, probably because we booked three months in advance . The continental breakfast was great value and included fruit and yoghurt. This hotel is within walking distance of all the key parts of town, but get a map and directions from via michelin.com if you are driving because there are a number of one way/narrow streets and it is easy to miss your turn off. Overall great value for money and very friendly service where English is spoken.

It was a pretty scary place; down a street, and the Hotel light wasn't lit. The carpet in the general areas was filthy. The hotel is close to the railway station and a 5 min's walk from the historical centre (the big clock, you know..). The price is quite low, and the hotel itself is good. The black point is that the breakfast costs 6€ - and I wasn't told it by the personnel (is it said in this site? I don't know..). But it's worth the price: bread, butter, jam, tea or coffee, croissants & pain au chocolat at will, orange juice.

The hotel was difficult to find using the online map. The hotel had a public underground carpark very close and was within walking distance to all the sights. The rooms were clean but old fashioned, and the decor/architecure was interesting! Good breakfast and excellent welcome and assistance from the staff. Overall we'd recommend this hotel to anyone who likes something a little different ie not sterile. The only downside was that our room was only a few metres away from a party being held in the appartments opposite, however that was all over by 11pm!

The bathroom could have been better, cracked basin and bidet. The beds were poor but the recptionist/owner made up for any short comings with her friendly and helpful approach.

The hotel is very well situated in the centre of Rouen 2 minutes walk to all the bars and restaurants, as well as the main shopping centre and church(which is spectacular) the owners were very helpful and friendly and there is 24 hour secure car parking 2 minutes walk from the hotel which you recieve a 50% discount. This hotel is thoroughly recommended.

The reason I gave bad "points" for the noise level was not hotel's fault, but between 4 and 5 am there was some stupid racing in the street near by and some fools played music loud in the cars while racing. It only last for about one hour but was very irritating.

We loved staying here. They were so welcoming and kind, plus the breakfast was really great. The location was perfect...within walking distance from just about everything. The only bummer was that we didn't have a shower or even a sink, though luckily there was a sink down the hall. The furnishings were quirky, but fun, and our overall stay was positive.

The only aspect that did not make our stay 100% easier was the lack of a lift (elevator), as we were travelling with substantial luggage. However, one understands that sometimes the prettiest buildings are old enough not to have such facilities. In any case, the staff (especially the manager) were very forthcoming about helping us with the weight two flights up the stairs. On the positive side, we took the ambiance to be very stylish and cosy, something hard to find in larger "chain like" hotels. The decoration of the room, the stairs and the common room/breakfast room were very nice. However, if I had to point out the single warmest aspect of Le Morand, it will definitely have to be the staff. The manager, despite our language barrier (my French is non existing) he literally jumped over backwards to make our stay most enjoyable, walking with me to the car parking in the snow, pointing to us in the map the highlights of the city and recommending restaurants to us on his behalf...had we not been so tired, we would have used much more of his hospitality, but in any case, he did more than his best!!!!!

We had a really wonderful time at The "Le Morand" Hotel. Unfortantely, we do not speak French and communication was a little difficult as the Hotel staff spoke little English. They were however SUPER freindly in their own way and tried to be as helpful as possible. We will certainly stay there again if we go to Rouen and recommend this hotel to any traveller.
