Great little hotel across from the Cathedral so it has great views but access is a little difficult. You will need to park a few blocks away in public garage as the streets around it are pedestrian only. Great shopping around hotel but, I would suggest you walk down to Vieux Marche, 10 minutes and very pleasant for a place to eat. At 21:00 hours which is about when it got dark there is an awesome laser light show with very loud techo music which was very cool for us but, not for those trying to get to sleep early. Also, we were on 5th floor but elevator only goes to 4th floor so it was a good way for us to walk off all those croissants we were eating.

Great location by cathedral, excellent breakfast, rooms recently decorated, shower large and great, really quiet for central location on the main square. Nice team running it. Good for family or couple FRENCH REVIEW_______________________________ J'ai beaucoup apprecie cet hotel - au plein centre de Rouen, petit dejeuner copieux a propos du prix. Personal hilfsreich. SWEDISH review_______________________________ Vaelkommna - hotellet ligger i bra staellet till centrums olika utbud - domkyrkan alldeles i naerheten - mycket lungt och ren - haer skulle trivs Svenskar, Danskar, Norskar och alle andra fran Norrlands olika laender !

A good value hotel in a superb location with many rooms having views of the cathedral. The staff were very pleasant and courteous. The room was larger than most with a decent sized bathroom. The restaurant down below, Brasserie Paul, is very good. We ate there twice. We also ate in the old market place which has several good restaurants. The railway station is a 10 minute walk away. The people of Rouen are very pleasant. All in all I would not hesistate to reccommend the Cardinal for a reasonably priced short break in Rouen. The cathedral bells do ring early. They woke my partner but I slept blissfully through them. But what do you expect? You are right next to the cathedral.

A good place to sleep, reasonably priced. The view is its best feature. Revelers in the street below disturbed the peace for a while, which was the only serious drawback.

Very nive typical french hotel, small rooms but excellent: the balcony with beautiful sightseeing. This what makes me very satisfied - I come back next time! I would like to have an adress where I can catch the key after 21 h.

The closest hotel to the Cathedral by far! About thirty feet! Great, English speaking staff. Very helpful. We've stayed in a lot of hotels in Europe, and would count this as a three star instead of two. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer.

We had a great stay despite our room not being ready when we arrived - the people who were supposed to check out had gone for the day, left their belongings in the room and this could have been a big problem, but the hotel gave us the only remaining room - a triple on the top floor. We had a great bathroom, and plenty of space. And the view!! Fantastic! So a potential problem was turned to something wonderful. The only negative comment is there is no lift from the 5th floor to the 6th. For an older couple carrying the heavy suitcases up the last flight was a little hard. The breakfast was generous and good, served in a very modest area. The hotel entrance is small and very modest, but the good humor, kindness and helpfulness of the fellow in attendance was excellent.

Low score for "location" only because your website does not say that the Cardinal has NO ACCESS FOR CARS. It is necessary to park in a nearby public park and drag luggage several hundred metres and cross a busy street. We drove round and round central Rouen for an hour before we stumbled on the right park. If we had known in advance it would have been fine!

Excellent location next to the cathedral. Reception closed at 9 pm, so you have to check in before to get the key. Car park nearby, 6€/24 hours with discount from the hotel. We were 3 grown ups and had a rather spacious room for 4. The bath room was fine but we had preferred a shower to the bath tub. Nice and fresh breakfast.

The location is ideal right next to Rouen Cathedral and it is a clean place with a great price. It was hard to find despite directions because they are not on a street but a plaza. The rooms and elevator are tiny but this is a perfect place for a short stay in Rouen.

Very pleasant, simple hotel with friendly staff. Excellent location, being right next to the cathedral (although bells a bit noisy as a consequence). The free wi-fi worked perfectly. The only downside was that there were really no public areas to sit whilst our daughter got off to sleep. There is a breakfast area, but the lights were kept dim in the evening, so it was difficult to read.

This is a typical French Hotel bang next door to the cathedral so be prepared for the bells! We had the family room on the 5th floor which is 'cosy' but was adequate for our needs and has views of the cathedral. The area around the hotel is pedestrianised which means there is no traffice noise but also makes it a bit difficult to find if arriving by car. You are better off parking (details from hotel) and it's a 2 minute walk. Tea & Coffee making facilities would have been nice. The ambience is great.

It was a budget holiday for us and the location of the hotel in the cathedral square in the heart of the medieval city appealed, especially as much of the city centre is pedestrianised. Street signage to the hotel is poor if you are arriving by car. We drove around the surrounding roads about four times before deciding that it would be best to park the car first and then find the hotel. First night was most unpleasant as room had been occupied by a heavy smoker (despite no smoking sign on inside of door). Hotel room could have been aired since departure of previous occupants and our arrival (6pm). Could not change room until following night as hotel full. 3 room changes in 4 days, but both subsequent changes were upgrades at no additional charge. Budget double room was pretty small, but overall service and staff were good and pleasant. Hotel breakfast, Continental buffet style, was good, even including my preference for muesli/toasted oats.

Hotel Cardinal was perfect for my visit to Rouen. I had an easy walk to all sites of interest. It sits in an excellent location across from the Notre Dame Cathedral and two blocks from the Seine. The English speaking proprieters were friendly and helpful. Very good and varied breakfast. My room was quiet, very little inside the hotel noise and it was convenient to restaurants. Should I visit Rouen again, I would want to stay in the Cardina.

A small and very basic place but more than adequate for our needs and I think it would be hard to beat in terms of placement. Perhaps a little awkward to find initially if arriving by car but once established in your room then it is simply an awesome base from which to explore a fantastic city and if you're lucky enough to get a room with a view of the cathedral then I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

We had a very difficult time finding the hotel.I feel the directions could have been much better. Once we got there though, the hotel was lovely. We ate in the restaurant next door and it was very good. I would highly recommend it. We had a room directly across from the cathedral. What a view!

My wife and I stayed overnight at the Hotel Cardinal on the way to the Loire. It was in an excellent position in the Cathedral square and close to all amenenities. The rooms were clean and apart from the nightly "son et lumiere" quiet. We found the staff friendly and very helpful directing us to places of interest. Parking was provided at a reduced rate in a nearby, underground carpark. We would use this hotel again if in Rouen.

My wife and I enjoyed a three day break in Rouen in Sept 2006. The Cardinal is very well located by the cathedral and offers fairly cheap secure parking nearby.( 5 euros per day)...highly recommended, good rooms, quiet, friendly and(for French hotels) a decent breakfast!
