Tradition and present, art and delights - experience the special flair of the hotel Eisenhut, situated in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of Germany's best preserved medieval cities.
The tophotel first consisted of three patrician houses of the 16th century and a small chapel of the 12th century, called St. Nicholas, which is now forming the main entrance and the reception hall of the building. After being occupied for a long time by the Winterbach, one of Rothenburg's most important families, it became first a small inn in 1876, before being definitely transformed into a hotel in 1924.
Today the hotel offers a unique combination of luxurious elegance and cosy atmosphere, providing the perfect setting for banquets, conferences and congresses as well as the ideal choice for leisure travellers.

Great location and easy walk to sightseeing and restaurants. We stayed in the historic annex across the street which beautifully retained it's charm in the public areas. Only recommendation would be to update the guestroom carpets, furnishings and bathroom fixtures, which weren't antiques like in the public spaces but just tired and dated. Rooms and baths were large. Very fair price.

If you are room 306 in the wing opposite the main hotel building, watch out for angle beam next to the bed. You could wind up with a splitting headache.

Great hotel! Great atmosphere and a perfect location right in the center of town. However, if you're looking for a typical German meal, I wouldn't eat in the hotel restaurant. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

This was an aweome place to stay. Great location and beautiful, comfortable rooms with gorgous marble tiled bathrooms. The staff was wonderful and very helpful when I needed to make train reservations! The restaurant was fabulous and the hotel very charming. I would definately stay here again!

The Eisenhut is located in the old city of Rothenburg making exploration easy and fun. It was at first difficult finding the hotel as my GPS unit kept telling me to ignore the red "Do Not Enter" signs at the old city gates and to drive into the old city. I discovered that it was, indeed, all right to enter the old city with your vehicle. As I recall no hotel map says to ignore the warnings. The hotel caters to foreign travelers as a large and very noisy Japanese contingent stayed at my hotel and the Eisenhut across the street. At 1AM they were merrily chatting under my window which faced the street. The weather was warm and the rooms are not air conditioned. I would recommend asking for a room not facing the street if you like an open window and quiet at the same time. The hotel ooutdoor cafe also lies right undwerneath the rooms facing the street.

hotel was great. Staff was great too, i can only advise that they sound proof their windows especially the ones facing the street coz it could get really noisy. I wasn't able to sleep coz I could hear all the cars passing by even until early morning.. Locatiom was excellent too..

How to reach Hotel Eisenhut
By car
Coming from the expressway A7 Würzburg-Ulm, take the exit Rothenburg-Tauber (about 2 km away) and proceed in direction of the city center. After entering through the Würzburger-Gate, pass through a second tower and turn left one block further, proceeding always straight ahead until reaching the Marktplatz. There you turn right into the Herrngasse and after a few meters you will recognize the hotel Eisenhut on your left hand side.
Due to traffic restrictions during the weekend, please use the following instructions between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays: after passing the Würzburger-Gate, turn left at the first crossing and then right into the Wenggasse. Keep straight on till reaching a T-junction. There you turn right proceeding in direction of the Marktplatz and after a few meters you will cross the Herrngasse where you have to turn right.
By train
From the train station Rothenburg (900 meters away) you can easily reach the hotel by taxi.
By airplane
From the airport of Frankfurt (about 175 km away) as well as from the airport of Nürnberg (90 km away) you can use the hotel's transfer service.
