Great hotel, very clean, help desk is very helpfull. The breakfast is sweet but correct... two small remarks about the hotel: breakfast - would be nice to have smth else else then croissant and jam (but for 3 days we stayed, it was very good) Room: - in the beginning we had room 202, which is very small, the douche is very narrow and small window that doesn't let the light in. But the room was changed as soon as we asked without any comment.

Had a single room. Small, as expected, but fully equipped, with a large bathroom, adequate space for luggage, and the usual narrow, hard Italian bed (Again, as expected). For Rome, just before Holy Week and with all the Poopla going on, it was a real bargain. Helpful, very pleasant staff. Breakfast was pretty basic. Some good, inexpensive restaurants on the same block.

+ We are a family with young children and we wanted to stay close to main attractions since we knew we wouldnt have a car the location was good close to tirmeni train station about 500meters from the train station it is also close to the coloseo about a 10 min walk down hill (walk home upwards) Close to some good resturants for cheap prices 13 euro for plate 1, 2 and dessert. The staff were friendly sometimes depends who you had. the rooms were cleaned really well everyday Nice water pressure in the shower Alot of negatives I specifically said that I wanted a portocot in the room for my 2 year old and when we got there i asked again is there a cot he said yes we go up to the room and there is no cot so I go downstairs to tell him and he says did you look under the bed I said no, then go back upstairs to look no cot he then proceeds to ring some staff and ask wheres the cot finally he said to me that he has to wait to the morning to solve this issue and he can move us to the 4th floor (my 2 year old was already asleep) I didnt want to then he got a phone call and it was in the storage room we got to the storage room and it is basically a cot from like 1970 but it had to do because we had no other choice..no organised and i rung before and also put it in my bookings note. We asked the hotel for a shuttle from the airport Ciampino and he quoted me 60euro for 2 adults and 2 children I soon realised that taxis charge a flat rate for airport transfers and it was 30 euro by that time it was to late and we had to go witht he shuttle we did however use the taxi on the way back to the airport (4am pick up and still 30 euro so we got ripped off for that which I was annoyed about. The overall look of the rooms and decor is like its from 1970 or something not really modern could use updating. The breakfast was just a basket of sweet crackers, nuttella jam and biscotti, you did get cornflakes milk coffee tea 2 crossionts and 2 bread rolls. you have to ask if you want

My first trip to Rome and in searching for a hotel I had relied almost 100% on reviews written by others. The location is excellent, a couple of blocks from the train station and easily within walking distance to all sites. The room was updated and clean, which is a big thing for me. Easy location to shops and restaurants. Large reception area, desk is always manned, separate dining and lounge area. Elevator makes it easy if you have alot of luggage and are on upper floors. This is not a $500 a night hotel but for the price and location, you will not be disappointed. One note...when you go for morning continental breakfast, make sure to ask for all breakfast items. They keep items in a back kitchen room so options are not visible. Our first morning was early and the gal brought us coffee, juice, and rolls, never said anything more. The next morning we saw that actually they had yogurt, cheese, milk for your cereal, and other items that are not readily offered. Minor complaint but worth noting. I would definitely stay there again.

I absolutely do not recommend it. I just want to know who is saying the staff are friendly? We arrived there at 11:30 night with a baby and they wasted our time for 45 minutes and behaved absolutely in w bad way. They charged us more that what in Venere I booked and when I told them that I would cancel it for next nights, they told me that have withdrawn the money without my authorization. No, the good comments are from their side.

Very nice and calm hotel, well situated. Recommended for families with children. There is a terrace which is available where you can eat pizzas bought in the restaurant next door. The hotel has an agreement with a Tratoria next door as well. The only problem could be the noise made by your neighbours. Wifi was available but only in one room (because of thickness of walls)

This was our first visit to Roma. Hotel Tirreno is located a short distance from the Termini which is great for getting anywhere you need in Roma or Italia in general. They had free WiFi, though it was slower than expected and only available in the lobby. The hotel overall is what I expected from a hotel for the price I paid.

I thought it was expensive (149 E in off season) for what we got. It was more like a large closet than a room, with a window around a small corner which, if you are a man or a larger woman , you would never be able to squeeze around, because there is a small freestanding closet also in this corner. Unfortunately, the only window to the room is around this corner, so if you want to see the view (nice- of lots of roofs and terraces) and you are big, you are out of luck. Also, the day we got in ( saturday) we wanted to lie down in the afternoon and there was a constant, very loud drone from helicopters right overhead all afternoon. Probably going over the colliseum which is a 10 minute walk away. Also, they gave us terrible directions and we walked from the Termini station, going in a big half circle. Better to get your own map online and figure it out yourself. There is a fantastic restaurant right across the street, Italian families, great food.

Staff were ultra-friendly and helpful, location well within walking distance to the Colosseum and a few other attractions. I would definitely stay here again! Tip: Beware of restaurants in the area that might look cheap but are actually quite expensive. Don't order anything without seeing the price on the menu first!

This hotel was the perfect place for our family with 3 teenagers. About 10 minutes to walk to the forum, the Coliseum, the 'Wedding Cake', and a block from The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. The hotel is on a small street (like an alley) and doesn't seem impressive from the outside, but the staff was excellent (friendly, helpful, professional) and the our room for 5 had a Queen size bed and 3 single beds in 2 separate sleeping areas. The breakfast each morning was satisfying, and any type of specialty coffee was included. Internet was only accessible in the lobby as advertised. The room was always clean and the air conditioning worked great (important in July!)

When we arrived at the hotel the employee at the front desk was very kind, he spoke English, Portuguese and Spanish very well. However, with the other employees, it was a little difficult to explain what we wanted for the breakfast. There was a charming terrace at the property where it was possible to have a snack. We loved the hotel. The price was excellent, the location terrific-just a short walk to the Colosseum, very quiet and a helpful staff. When we came down to check out before breakfast hour we were given coffee and rolls without our asking. When our grandchildren arrived hot and tired after a long drive, they brought out a pitcher of juice for them. The rooms aren't large but they are clean and well appointed. Definitely a good buy. Would stay there again. One of the few hotels with a quad for young families.

We were a family from Sweden, two adults two teenagers and one 12 years old boy. We asked for a suite and we got the gardensuite in the same price as the others, fantastic! The hotel was nice, close to the metro and very close to Colosseum and just 20 min walk to for ex. Fontana di Trevi, and 10 min to the nice shoppingstreet Via Nationale. Perfect! Our suite was big in two plans with big rooms and two barthrooms with tubes, newrenovated and wellcleaned. The breakfast were bad as usual in Italy... only white bread with a lots of marmelads to... I wish we at least could have one slice of cheese and an egg? I shouldn't cost that much extra. One god thing when we was travelling back to Sweden via airport "Ciampino", was that you can easily take the metro from Vittorio Emanuelle all the way to "Anagnina", and then take the airportbus directly the last way to the airport. Quick, easy and cheap!! The bus goes about every 30-40 minutes from Anagnina.

I travelled to Rome with my husband and 3 small children in July 2008. This was one of the few hotels in a good location I could find that could accommodate all 5 in 1 room. The room was small, but fit our needs very well (quiet and well air-conditioned). It was also by far the best value for the money I could find (almost half the price of many other hotels). The location was good and I was never worried about safety. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a bargain without extra frills.

We were two couples traveling together & had booked the suite to share the costs. The hotel assigned us two rooms instead. They gave us the rooms for the same total amount, so that was good. The room at the front overlooked a bar across the narrow street (somewhat noisy), the one at the back overlooked the hotel garden - a private space, and quiet. The rooms were larger than we were expecting in Europe, and the breakfast was cereal, yogurt and buns. That seems to be an Italian norm. It was an easy walk from the Termini station, once you found it. The location was a convenient walk from the Coliseum and most other Roman sights.

This hotel is EXCELLENT FOR LOCATION (right central between lots of tourist attractions and in the middle of the main st), other than that i don't see it as a good hotel at all from previous stays in other hotels (our second time in Rome). My partner and I both felt that this hotel has been totally overrated by it's price. The carpet was extremely dirty (even tho it was dark red). Let me just describe everything else as 'antique'.Even the TV was SMALL AND OLD! One recommendation is 'bring a pair of slippers or wear your shoes everywhere you walked. We aren't genuinely choosey about our hotel but this hotel seriously needs some refurbishment. Personally wouldn't stay in this hotel again unless they refurbish it. We are definately not happy with the price we paid for the room we got. I suppose if you want good location you've to pay the price.

Hotel is on a little dirty street but this is pretty much every street outside of the tourist areas of Rome. Not too far from a subway stop and only 8-10 blocks from the Coliseum. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable.

we enyoyed our stay very much, everything was OK.the hotel is next to public transportation and withing walking distance from the main historical sites. nice staff and plentiful breakfast. simply avoid the rooms overlooking the street because every night customers from the opposite pub leave the premisses noisily between around 12 and 2. important : don't have lunch or dinner at the restaurant next door (across the street) it's very expensive, the quality is poor, the food tasteless and the service icy.

This hotel was located near Santa Maria Maggiore basilica and was an easy walk to the Coliseum and metro station for service to other places. Everyone who worked there was as nice as could be and made our stay the best! I am only going to stay here when I go back to Rome!

We stayed in a quad room, the room was adequate, with 4 beds there wasn't much room to move around. One of the single beds was very unconfortable, although the double was ok. Our last night we stayed in a different room, and it was much much bettter. the beds were much more comfortable and room a little more roomy. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. The hotel was conveniently located to Public transportation-the train station bus terminal and the metro, as well as the colosseum and forum. We were able to walk to most other sites. Overall, our stay was pleasant.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. On arrival I was allocated a room next to the lift(401) which I found noisey, when I infomed staff the next morning I was offered, and accepted, an alternative. The rooms were as described, clean,of an adequate size with good facilities. I would have liked tea/coffee making provision. The only downside was the breakfast which was boring but could easily have been improved by the addition of fresh fruit and alternative (to cornflakes)cereals. There is a little coffee shop along from the hotel which serves excellent coffee and snacks at very reasonable prices if you want an alternative. The location was excellent near the bus/train stations, therefore, all areas were easily accessible. The bus was very good value for money, remember to buy your tickets from a bar or one of the stands at the station as they are not sold on the buses. You have to validate them in one of the machines on entering the bus or will face a fine if tickets are checked and found not to be. If in doubt ask one of the locals they are very friendly/helpful. The Colloseum,Forum Circus Maximus are a ten minute walk away. There are a number of restaurants in easy reach of the hotel, the best being the small bistro opposite the hotel which does a special menu for hotel guests and has friendly staff and good food. What I wasn't prepared for was the number and, on occasion, the ferocity of street vendors. I was very happy with my stay and hope to go back soon.

a very comfortable hotel at a very good price. May seem daunting at first walking up the hill, however, it is quite a convenient location from 2 metro stations (about 10mins). The room sizes are sufficient for two. breakfast is standard continental. Overall i would recommend this hotel for those searching for good value, but don't want to compromise on quality of service.

bathroom nice and large. room was not what I expected for an apparent 3-star. had only very narrow space between two beds and that was the extent of the room. to use wardrobe closet, one had to move bed out of the way. overhead light was dim. room felt uninviting.

A really nice hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay of six nights. Wonderful, very old neighborhood, close to the train station, the Forum, Colosseum, and the metro. Lots of restaurants nearby as well. Very friendly and helpful staff -- English speaking. We would definitely stay there again. Pictures and descriptions were exactly as things are. Nice atmosphere, it grows on you.

This is a great little hotel on a very quiet street. The area is a little dodgy in places but we felt quite safe walking around both day and night. Staff were great, spoke excellent english, very helpful, room was spacious, bathroom was spotless and large (possbily just done up with new tile etc). Breakfast was adequate , typical contintental fare, and there is an excellent little restaurant just across the street, which offers great food, is full of locals, and when we went they had a buffet type thing going for 7 euros, with several great dishes. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Hotels in Rome are expensive, Tirreno was fairly priced for the location. A quiet side street, but near to main bus routes and an easy walk to Forum area and other attractions. Room was comfortable, and had a pleasant private terrace. Most staff were very friendly and helpful. One nightman was rude to a friend meeting me at the hotel.

The stay was excellent. Room was very clean, had a nice bathroom with a large terrace on the 3rd floor. The front desk staff were very helpful with directions to locations. Its only about a 10min walk to the Colosseum and Foro Romano. Very close to buses and T station. Lots of coffee bars for a quick espresso or capuccino. Although I would like to see more variety at breakfast maybe buffet style. There is a great little place a couple doors down that sells a great cup of capuccino and cornetti. If we decide to return to Italy we will stay here again without a doubt.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel. Marco was there to greet us upon check-in and was extremely helpful in helping us plan our Rome touring. We had fun conversations with him and other guests. The hotel is within walking distance to the Colosseum, Paletine and Capital hill area, Santa Maria Maggione and others. Marco directed us to a nice restaurant for our first night. We did a lot of walking in Rome, hit upon another great dinner place. Took a tour of the Vatican (which Marco booked for us), and were able to stay to explore St. Peter's square and Hadrian's Castle. Took bus back to Hotel (although we actually caught the wrong bus and had a bit of a walk). We took taxi one evening to Tivoli Fountain and Pantheon; great restaurant near Tivoli suggested by Marco. We loved Rome - architecture, art, sculpture, people. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

The Tirreno is well situated and only a 10 minute walk to the Colloseum, Termini Station and a couple of minutes to the nearest Metro line. The staff are freindly and helpful. Typical Italian breakfast was adequate and the Forchetta restaurant across the street offers an excellent menu with special prices for guests staying at the Tirreno (3 courses for 13 Euros). There's a friendly little pub, (The Black Falcon) across the street that does light snacks. The hotel has a sun terrace which was a great place to sit and have a drink/smoke. The shower needs care - water temperature varies - beware!!! Overall, the Tirreno was a great base for our 5 days in Rome.

The tirreno was a nice hotel close to the colosseum. We did recieve a warm welcome on arrival from the friendly receptionist. we were put up in a room with a terrace, the room was slightly small, but the bathroom was spacious, clean and well maintained. The breakfast served is also substantial (coffee, tea, croissants, cereals, juice etc). There was also no extra charge for the aircon, as mentioned on the website. we did pay 165 euros per night which was a little expensive (compared to singapore), but the prices in europe are high Overall we had a pleasant stay and will surely come back to this hotel

The stay was excellent. Rooms clean, good size, good bathroom, and with large terrace. The in-room safe did not work, and the airport transfer was more expensive than we have epxerienced from other places. However, these are small matters. The location was great - only a few minutes walk to the colloseum and forum. Also handy to the Termini station and both metro lines have stops nearby. Breakfasts good and staff helpful. Would certainly stay here again.

We are a family of 5 with adult children therefore we walked the 10 minutes from the train station with our luggage and also walked to the train station where we would catch the subway. Ancient Rome was within walking distance. It was off a side street, quiet and safe. We walked to the coliseum at 10pm. Our triple and double room were clean with wood floors and modern bathrooms. They were cleaned daily. The staff spoke very good English and was very helpful. The restaraunt at the corner served good food and was nice and quaint. We would return.
