The hotel shuttle was not hourly. It went three times per morning only and was constantly full.It booked up so quickly we were disappointed several times. It had to be booked at least 24 hours in advance and only held 8 people. This was inconvenient as the hotel is so far from city center.Breakfast was good;the woman who managed the breakfast room was wonderful.I asked for a wake up call for one morning:it never came. The staff does not seem to like tourists;I loved my beautiful room but I did not feel welcome.

Breakfast offered a wide range (Not that poor that some guidebooks of Italy describe). The shuttlebus at 9:00AM was constant overbooked so that we could not take them. Needs to be booked at the morning the day before.

Very nice, clean hotel.comfortable quiet room.very good breakfast (all types of hot drinks, juices, cheese, salami, eggs, jam, nutella, joghurt, bread, bakery, corn flakes, compot, tartes)served from 6 to 10:30 am. Shuttle bus every 90 min, should reserve as soon as u arrive for ur whole stay, stopping at piazza cavour,it takes 30 min in this journey, and returning from the same place.otherwise u can take bus 990 from piazza cavour till balduina station, and then walk for about 8 min, last bus at 11 pm. Transportation in italy is cheap, ticket for 1€ valid for 75 min in bus, metro and rapid train(FM). the hotel offers free map of Italy, better than the map we bought from Germany.

The hotel is far off the beaten path which I knew going in. They do have free parking which is a plus in Rome. There are however two 990 bus lines coming back. If you are not careful you can get on the wrong one and not go by the hotel. The other thing to watch out for here as well as in other hotels in Europe is when you check out they charge your credit card in dollars at a much higher exchange rate than normal and then claim they have no choice over the matter nor do they know how to reverse the charge. To be safe just pay in cash. Breakfast is nothing to write home about.

Room was very smokey, staff did not agree to move. A long ways from tourist Rome. Minimal instructions and assistance in transport; shuttle didn't run, bus service intermittent. Not a good choice for tourists unless you want to spend a lot of time and money on transport. Barring smokey room, facilities were nice.

Location worked great for me, as I could park for free in the hotel garage and take a bus (just two blocks away) to city center. Front desk was very competent showing me how to get to city center, however a/c was out of order and I had to insist over and over that it be serviced (not much diligence there). very nice breakfast.Room was a bit tiny.

Incredible excellent price/quality relationship for Rome. We choosed Zone because we had to participate in a scientific meeting in Policlinico Gemelli: it is 5 minutes walk from hotel to balduina railway station and then 5 minutes by train to Gemelli (trains every 15 minutes). Taxi to the city centre: about 13 euros.

Is not true that Vaticano belongs a 30 minutes walk and the shuttle service is not frequent (90 minutes), is only for 8 people and stops at 18.30 so as the hotel has no restaurant and there are non reastaurants also in the surround, you must move with car or taxi for dinner. But for other apects the relationship between price and quality is excellent

We had booked 3 double rooms and a triple. 2 of the double rooms were adequate and the triple was excellant. However the third double room was unacceptable - it was a single room (and clearly marked in your booking system as such) but with a make-shift double bed put in it. It was far too small for two people - the bed touched 2 walls and it was not possible to walk around the other sides of it, or to open the fridge. The air conditioning was inadequate. We believe this mis-selling of rooms to be illegal. When we complained we were told it would not be possible to move to another room until the following day. The next day we were given an alternative room, but I still consider the service we recieved unacceptable. We are considering reporting your practices to the Italian tourist authorities and the Rome city police.

I found the zone a quiet comfortable place to stay, but venere had it 2km from termini, railway station, but in fact it is about 10 - 12 kms from the station or about17 to 20 euros in taxi. i found it too much hassle to get there by public transport, especially for the first day. overall the hotel we quite enjoyed. if you dont want to pay excessive prices for coffee, just down the road from ¨zone¨ was art cafe, cheap good coffee, and cake or roll.

This hotel is located at the end of a dark, quiet residential street in suburban Rome and quite a distance from the historic centre. Free shuttle service offered though. The room was nice, but service was "all business", unlike what you'd get at a smaller, family ru hotel. Booking online was a great idea. Posted prices were significantly higher than what we paid through venere.com.

Poor directions. If you are driving to the hotel be sure to call in advance and ask for better directions that the ones posted in the website. No air conditioning. Apart from these two "mishaps" the hotel is OK, very good quality for the price and good breakfast too.

Shuttle bus service is very comfortable. The rooms are clean and look as in the internet shown. The time of the breakfast service is from 6.30 - 10.00. The location of the hotel is not in the centre of rom, so it is good reachable by car (to avoid the chaotic traffic of rome). The hotel offers a park garage. The rooms and service are absolutely worth the price we paid.

This hotel is excellent value and far better than a 3 star in most respects. The only real disadvantage is its location, which is a bit out of town, but once you find out where it is and how to get there, it isn't too much of a problem. The hotel runs a shuttle-bus during the day but it only seats 8 so you need to make sure that you book it well in advance.

This is a very nice hotel and excellent value for money. Rome is expensive for accommodation and the Zone hotel offers very competitive prices and although it is a little bit away from the main touristy area, the hotel's shuttle bus and local public transport mean it is not isolated and the centre is easily accessible. I would definitely stay there again.

It was very difficult to find the hotel! We took the bus 990 from the metro 'A' line, but from the bus stop we couldn't figure out which way to go, and we were marching up and down on the street several times. Please put a sign of the hotel to the bus stop. The shuttle bus can deliver 8 persons max., so for us (as a group) was useless. Otherwise everything was perfect. It is highly recommended !!

This hotel was an amazing deal for the price--definitely a high quality hotel. The problem is that it is located quite a distance from the center of Rome. The hotel claims to be 2km from the Vatican and city center. It is 2 km from the Vatican, but that is definitely not the same as the city center. To get to the Colloseum and Roman ruins you need to take a bus and the metro and do some walking. Our second night there we found out that the metro we needed closed down at 9:00, and it cost 40 euros to get back to our hotel by taxi because it was so far. The hotel does offer a bus service to the Vatican and a metro station, but it only carries 8 people and is difficult to reserve. Although the room was wonderful, one staff member in particular came across as rude and snobbish and I sensed some hostility because through venere we paid such a fraction of the normal room price. I probably wouldn't stay there again, primarily because of the inconvenience.

The Zone is a very quiet place to stay in Rome, and has an excellent wait-staff and good accomodations. There is little to do near the hotel, so eat before you come home. It is also rather out of the way, so plan on paying for a taxi drivers on-the-job-training on your way home from town (8-12 Euros)

We really enjoyed our stay at the Zone. Clean and comfortable rooms for a very reasonable price. The free shuttle service to Piazza Cavour was very useful. The staff was very friendly (except for one waitress at breakfast, she seemed a bit sour every morning :) Our five day trip to Rome took place at the late April. Excellent hotel for the price. Breakfast good. Rooms very clean. Hotel staff helpful, though Romans generally not. Free shuttle bus a good service, although local buses are cheap and frequent. Hotel a little difficult to find on arrival in Rome and rooms could do with improved soundproofing, but other than that I would highlyrecommend it. I would also have liked Tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The courtesy van to and from the hotel was an added bonus to the center of town which was a bit far from the hotel. If we missed the van we took a cab which was about 8-10 Euros. The service at breakfast was wonderful. Our party had two departure times, at 18:00 and 21:00 and they graciously allowed us to store our luggage on premises until it was time to board our respective trains...we came back at 16:00 and stayed in the lobby until 18:00 when we left for the train station. The staff was very helpful...considering our Italian was less than perfect their english overcompensated for the language barrier. I would definitely return.

The shuttle service needed to be controlled, because once somebody took our place in the bus and the driver taking them to be us simply took off 5 minutes before time. When we stepped down to the lobby we were informed the bus left already. It's best if the driver has a copy of seat reservations and ticks off people and room numbers.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel was quiet, in a good area, and very good value for money for Rome. With pre-planning and the use of multimap on the web, we had no problems getting to the hotel from Ciampino (a total of 2 euros each by public transport). A good public bus service into the city a little walk away from the hotel, but no problem. Would certainly recommend it.

Marvellous value for money - free underground parking, shuttle bus to city centre and generous breakfast all included. Like other reviewers, we would have liked a restaurant at the hotel for evening meals, but we managed to find a Chinese restaurant not far away where the food was cheap and OK, though the service was a bit too casual.

The Zone hotel is a good choice if you don't mind staying well outside of the city. They do provide an hourly shuttle service. If you take the metro, it is about a 15 minute walk to the nearest station. However, the area is very nice and the quality of the hotel was excellent.

Good room for the price. But as many others have stated it is nearly impossible to find. Several phone calls to the hotel to get directions, which were very vague. Really ended up stumbling on it in the end. They need to post a map with directions from Rome Central up to the hotel on the website. This would help immensely. I bought some rolls out in town the second night and left them on the dresser (in a bag). By morning there were ants all over the rolls, this would probably be worse in summer - need to take a look at this.

THE BREAKFAST SERVED WAS NOT GOOD AT ALL.THE HOTEL WAS TOO FAR AWAY FROM THE CITY CENTRE AND THERE ARE NO BUSES RUNNING ANYWHERE CLOSER TO THE HOTEL AND ONE HAS TO WALK ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO CATCH A BUS, AND IF YOU TAKE A TAXI IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE.NO FREE WATER FOR THE ROOM IS GIVEN AND NOT FLEXIBLE IN SERVICES.

Its a bit far from de center of Rome but it has the shuttle bus service that is very good if you book it in advance and to return to the hotel the last one is very early so you can take the bus from Piazza Navona. The shuttle bus driver was very kind and helpful

Kind people at the hotel reception, from the first contact I had untill aftersales (Miss Giorgia has been very kind indeed). I forgot my coat in the room after im gone and they helped me to return it to me. Just a note: Noisy clean service people early in the morning and wrong telephone wake up in the middle of the night... :-)

Insgesamt wie gesagt vom Preis/Leistungsverhältnis her top.

I thought that the hotel was very good although it was very hard to find. A detailed map of the local area would have been useful. It should have had a swimming pool on the roof for younger guests to use. we found the shuttle bus very useful and the drivers helpful and friendly.

We were told that next year they will have a gym and a pool. That will help make up for the Zone's greatest weakness, its location (a suburb more or less). Overall, we were satisfied with the hotel and found it to be a very good value, its employees polite, pleasant and helpful. Make sure to ask for bus information as the hotel shuttle does not run after 7:30.

We stayed in Zone on two different occasions. First time everything was excellent considering the price. Second time the receptionist told us that they hadn't received our request for double bed, and they could only provide us with twin beds. We weren't so happy about that, as we were on our "second honeymoon". Breakfast was quite simple, although a lot more than you usually get in Mediterranean hotels. The juices were kind of weird, though. We liked the free transportation to the Vatican area. Overall, we were quite happy with our stay. Prices on this site seemed to be much much lower than on others.

The only negative comment I would like to make is that considering the hotel is in the outer surburbs of Rome it should provide a restaurant for room service in the evening. Apart from that I found the hotel to be very pleasant with helpful and friendly staff. Highliy recommended!

Whilst we had a great holiday, and the hotel was fairly good value all in all, we were disappointed by the facilities. When we booked, the website suggested that there was a swimming pool and a restaurant, amongst other things, yet, on arrival, there were no such facilities - only a very small bar area. The room was adequate, but there was nowhere to unpack clothes into or store anything, except a small wardrobe - barely big enough for one person, let alone two. A huge cobweb inhabited the corner of our room from start to finish (eight nights), and we were woken every morning by either the sound of our 'neighbours', or the cleaners in the corridor. Breakfast was a little disorganised - out of the three times we bothered to go down, twice, the meat and cheese trays weren't filled up during the time we were down there, and once we weren't even offered coffee. The one aspect of the services which we found to be very useful was the shuttle bus. However, beware - don't rely on it entirely. If there are more than eight people waiting for it on the last drop to the hotel (7.30pm), some of you will be left stranded. The mini-bar was also surprisingly cheap, but, as it was never refilled, we only had the opportunity to use it once! If you're looking for a no frills basic place to stay, on a tight budget, you will find the the Zone hotel to be satisfactory. If, like us, you've been led to expect something more, you will be disappointed.

Honestly, the best hotel in Italy we stayed in. The only problem is that one needs to get there first, which is a bit of a hassle honestly. I would wish directions would be given on how to reach the hotel from the Termini via metro station to another train station (dont worry it is actually another metro)and then a quick taxi ride to the hotel. So what I would recommend is to get a stay in another hotel in Rome, which is easy to navigate spend one night there, and have a receptionist call for you and write down details on how to get there. That is the worst part about the hotel, is how to get there...but it is sure worth it when you do get there. For 50 euros, excellent service, internet ready computer in the lobby (for 3 euro 1/2 hour) and with shuttle that goes to the center of town this hotel is the best by price and service. The staff was very helpful, and I would like to thank Georgina (sp?) for taking her time and explaining things to us. She was very helpful. At night, make sure you get back to itm otherwise it would be a hassle making without it, and paying for the taxi (which is not worth it, and get ready to be ripped off) Again hotel was excellent for the price, food in the morning...well we never liked it anywhere in Italy, as we dont take pleasure in luke warm coffee and hard bread early in the morning. Anyway, this hotel books quickly, make sure you book it in advance and for all the days you are planning to stay. Best hotel in Rome ...and honestly, we spend like 100 -120 euros for hotels in other places and they are not even as good as this one. So bottom line, this hotel is a great place to stay in. Only one problem, is in getting there in the first place.

We (party of eight - four adults, four children) stayed at the Hotel for one night (18/07/04) between staying in a Villa and flight home. As mentioned in other reviews, finding the Hotel proved a bit of a challenge as the directions supplied end at the last Major junction, P.le Degli Eroi (a large circus with a fountain in the middle). My advice after this would be, once heading up the hill, to look for signs (one at a left fork) for the Hotel rather than the Hotel itself as it is situated in a small, quiet side street off another side street. During the afternoon we took advantage of the courtesy bus to get into the centre of Rome but got taxis back. Our taxi drivers had to rely on their A-Z's of Rome streets to find the Hotel (remember the street name). This may sound like a complaint but it's not. The Hotel itself more than makes up for any difficulty finding it. It is in very good condition, clean and tidy. Rooms were as spacious as I felt it necessary for them to be and offered all you could reasonably require. Staff were friendly and helpful. We all felt that the hotel was amazing value for the price paid and quite a find. I have no hesitation in recommending the Hotel and should I be lucky enough to return to Rome will certainly stay there again. PS the Taxi fare from the Trevi Fountain area came to 11 euros.

We stayed here for 4 nights between 12th and 16th of July 2004. Driving from Florence, we had difficulty locating the Hotel as the directions given weren't clear and our map didn't go that far outside the centre of Rome. We phone the hotel several times and they were very good at giving us directions to find them. The staff are very helpful and English speaking which helps. The rooms were very clean and tidy, but the walls were quite thin and you could here next door late at night when it was quiet if they were talking. The room came with a wardrobe and built in safe which was free to use, the bathroom was also good with built in shower which was powerful. Aircon was free in the room and was very useful. All in all a very good room with no complaints. The Breakfast was also very good and you could have cereal, rolls, croisants, yoghurts or fruit, with juice or tea/coffee/hot chocolate. As we had a car we used their garage which is located just under the hotel which was great, and it was free. There was also a free shuttle bus to the centre of Rome which was really useful - this leaves the hotel on the hour (has to be booked) and comes back every half hour (first come first serve). There is a small bar in the lobby and on our last night we saw one of the staff having a take away pizza, we asked if we could have one and they we really helpful in ordering one for us! Good hotel, a bit like a Forte Hotel in England, very clean and tidy, very helpful staff.

The Zone-Hotel is a good hotel for staying over night after visiting Rome and all the culture. It's quiet because lying at the end of a small road with a large pine-area in the neighbourhood, so the air is well too. Rome itself is croudy of people and cars, so you can really relax at Zone. Bus Nr. 990 is running all half an hour up to 12pm from Piazza Cafour near city-center. Only the breakfast could be a little better (there was no change during 7 days) - nice room but the food of a youthhostel is somtimes better so my son didn't want to get up for it. But if I return to Rome I could imagine to return to the Zone Hotel.
