I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good value. It was very comfortable and clean but a little beat up. I read about the small showers and didn't think much of it but I had to strategize to get my arms above my head (I'm about 6 feet tall). The front desk staff does not speak good English. I didn't realize I'd always had that luxury. Being without that link to my surroundings was an obstacle. The breakfast is the bare minimum. It's not really an issue to go to the bar but you literally get one plain croissant and one juice or coffee. When I'm out sightseeing, I need more breakfast! I felt very safe in the neighborhood but it is very dirty. Previously we've stayed in areas closer to the main sites and there was much less garbage and graffiti. The super market is very close. We had a fridge but it did not work. When I tried to ask about this I was told it was not a freezer. It never made a sound and things inside the refrigerator were the same temperature as things outside it. So if price is important to you, this hotel will do the trick.

The room is clean, but this hotel is very noisy inside, we couldn`t sleep due to loud talk in reception, at 4a.m. smbody knocked the door near ours. We stayed at other hotels in Rome near Termini and noice outside is normal, but not inside!!!The reception and rooms are situated on the second floor, the elevator works from the second floor also, we had to raise our baggage by stairs. The brekfast is served in the bar near the hotel, and consists of coffee and croissan only.

We've stayed here for 3 nights. Our room was quite small, but clean. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was a simple criossant and a cappuccino. It was OK. Location is good, walking distance to the Termini. I would recommend this hotel. Definitely worth the price. (Double: 55EUR/night March.2009)

We were very happy with choosing this hotel - quite close to Termini station (7 mins by foot) but in a nice surroundings, much more quite and clean then Termini area. Very useful supermarket near the notel, shops and cafes, market in mornings with fresh fruits. Rooms are very clean and nice. We stayed in room 101 and 102, both were nice, though 202 has fridge and more specious shower cabin. 101 had one double bed and one single bed, this is a room for three persons. All rooms have air conditioning. I defenitely would stay here again for this price (75 EUR for two persons per night). Both rooms had two doors which exclude any noise from the corridor. The hotel exceeded our expectations.

ALL WAS NICE.BUT WE HAD TO WALK AROUND TO FIND IT.(THE MAP IT´S NOT GOOD) AND THE HOTEL HAS NOT ELEVATOR TO THE FIRST FLOOR, IT´S NECESARI TO CARRY THE BAGGAGE. BUT THE ATTENTION IS REALLY NICE AND IT IS IN A NICE (CALM) ZONE.

We felt this was a excellent deal and very nice staff. Very close to the Termini and that is awesome. The restaurants are across the street are not in the Rick Steves but awesome places to eat nearby like the Bobbos and then street market everyday is a block away. Only wish the map here was better with directions as we got lost walking and took us a while to find it.

For the price you pay you receive ALOT! the rooms are very clean and spacious with good facilities. The cleaners are very efficient and do their jobs well. The hotel is very close to termini station which was great for us as we arrived by train. The only negative is that the hotel is on the opposite side of termini to al the sites but it means it's in a quieter area.

It is very well located, close to train Termini station and we go by walking to many interesting places at Rome. Surrondings are peaceful. To take breakfast at a Bar close to Virginia Hotel was good for us. We enjoyed a lot our staying at the hotel, therefore we recommended it because it is a nice place to stay.

It was nice to have air-conditioning in such hot day.It worked o.k.,if you remember to put it to lower temperatue than you relly mean.Room had seen it´s best days, but it was o.k for the price. It was quite clean, the reason for not having a better rate for cleanes,is that we found potato chips under the table.Toilet was clean, witch is most important,if you ask me.

There are different levels of soil into rooms from the entrance to the room itself, the same thing for the bathroom. It is dangerous at night for everyone, the rest of the time for old (Our case) or children

Well....I recommend this Hotel to everyone who would like to stay close to the center of Rome. We actually walked to everwhere without using public transport. We took teh room next to the reception and there was lots of noise but we were so nackered, that as soon as got to our beds we fall sleep. Do Not take it. The breakfast was a simple criossant and a coffee. (but its included in the price) But remember you are in Rome and being in the center is expensive. We paid 65€ for a triple room. Excellent price and excellent stay. Would come back again.

We were one young couple travelling through Italy and stayed for 3 nights in Roma. The location in Roma is excellent, however, it was hard to sleep because we heard every move and door clapping of the neighbors. Moreover, the water was one time cold in the evening (which was due to too many people taking showers said a hotelier). The hotel is sufficient for budget travellers but especially the loudness of the room was hard to bear in the morning.

First impression was definitely not good, stairway & elevator were under renovation (or just out of order), and the surroundings were somewhat scary. However, the room was very clean and nice. Air condition needs a remote control, which is separately available from the reception, without extra charge. We also found less frightening ways from the Termini to the hotel. Close by was also a very good and large wine shop, definitely worth a visit.

Okay, I reviewed the hotels online before booking them. Unfortunately, I believe that this hotel had same paid "plugs". First, it is in a not-so-friendly neighborhood. After checking into my room, I wondered if this was a pay per night, or pay per hour, type of hotel. First off, we couldn't even get our luggage into the room - it was so small the luggage wouldn't fit between the wardrobe and the wall. The walls had cracks in the plaster and gaping holes where fixtures had been removed. The bathroom was so small that I could sit on the toilet, brush my teeth in the sink, and wash my hair in the shower, without getting up. The a/c did work, but I had to go down to the desk to pick up the control, which he had to tape together with scotch tape to work. There were no phones in the room. I could actually feel each spring in the mattress. The "lift" that they advertise was after you climbed up the stairs to the next floor. Do not stay here! (unless you pay by the hour).

The hotel was very small. I felt like we didn't have any privacy from the front desk, since our room was pratically on top of the front desk. Also, the room was in need of rennovations. The shower head fell off the shower, the wood was coming off the door frame, and the bed felt like a sleeper sofa mattress where you could feel the springs. Our hotel next to the Vatican seemed like a much better deal for the extra 50 Euros we paid for it. The location was very close to the Termini station (walking distance even with lots of luggage), which was nice. The free breakfast at the near by bar was a typical European breakfast of a croissant and a coffee.

I stayed in Virginia for 3 nights in a triple room. Room was pretty small. There was a clean bathroom and a regrfrigirator where we stored a lot of water. Breakfast was simple - a croisant and coffee, but was not a problem for Roma where one can find a lot of delicious food at reasonable price. Surroundings - typical for the city. Easy to find from the Termini central station. The only problem was lack of airconditioning in the end of July :). I would recommend for budget travelers and families with older children.

We travelled with two kids 13 and 7, so it was a good hotel for the price and the location closed to buses that took us where we wanted to go even walking distance (15 minutes) to some places. Breakfast was served in the downstairs bar and the selected pastry with any type of coffee or orange juice you selected was good. It even had AC and we used it as it was very HOT in Rome when we visited. Parking was also in front of the hotel but you had to buy (in the next door place) like 10 cards and scratched them with the information to insert inside your car that ended up being covered with cards! Funny! Price/location was good. Towels only one per person and not face towel. But you can live with it if you know that Europe and rooms for four are not plenty available. I'll stay again there but I would look for some other recommended hotels that may look nicer... Service was good and the people at reception were very nice for everything we asked.

The hotel was cheap when we booked (50 euro a night). The room was nice, had a tv, fridge, and safe (w/o additional cost). It also had a newly done bathroom, however one of the waterlocks must have not been working properly so it had a slightly bad odour. Friendly welcome and spotlessly clean room though small for two people. Noise seemed to carry throughout the building maybe due to marble finish. The location of the hotel is very good: only 10 minutes walking to 3 different underground stations (A and B line). At night (as in every big town) an open window will give inconvenient city noise; close the window and use the airco (we did not used it at the end of October). In de room was a refrigerator; this was not in the offer, but very useful. In the rather small room was only one chair; no problem for us because we were in the town from early in the morning till late in the evening. Breakfast (rather simple as usual in Rome) was in different bars in the neighbourhood; it helped us to feel us quick at home in Rome. Overall a very good price/quality-ratio.

We stayed at H. Virginia on the front and back end of our trip to Italy - our first 3 nights and our last 2 - and we were happy to be back in their care by the end of the trip. The employees were very nice, always helpful, and even the cleaning staff had positive attitudes. The location, while not in the middle of all the sites to be seen, was conveniently located near mass trans options although walking around all of Rome was our preference. Plus - it was nice to get away from the tourism crush in the evening. The bathroom was reasonably sized and we actually got a queen bed rather than 2 twins pushed together. The night-time noise in our 1st room kept us awake a bit, the 2nd room, oddly enough on the street side, was much quieter. Loved the breakfast cafe and when it was switched to a different place on our last leg it was even better. The restaurant across the street was quite good as well; they had very hearty portions. We do not recommend the pizza place next door.

We have used Venere.com on several other locations for the past 3 years and have been absolutely SATISFIED!. I really think this location needs a personal visit or to be removed from your list. Beside the room being terribly small, the bathroom barely able to move in, 2 thread-bear towels, no drapes, shutters or curtains on the windows, up two flights of stairs without an elevator, and breakfast down the street, (at a stand up bar--which is not unusal for Italy), with a day old croissant and coffee. Our stay of 4 nights was cut short to 1 night. We checked into another hotel and paid 210E and felt it was worth every penny. We travel to Italy every year and ARE experienced travelers.

Great value, very close to Termini station and within walking distance to basically anywhere in the center of Rome. It took us 20 min walking to go from the hotel to Piazza Espagna (a very nice walk by the way!). The hotel has a nice bar downstairs, perfect for the last beers of the night when you get tired to the hotel. Breakfast is included, very simple with just a croissant and a juice of coffee. If you are driving, you will need to park in the streets or on a parking, which costs about 20 Euros per night. The receptionist was very friendly, and helped us with directions. Dont be scared by an entrance that is a bit dark and small, the hotel is very clean and a great value for your money. Just one watch-out is that the streets close to the hotel get very loud at night. If you dont mind that and get into the roman spirit, it shouldnt be a problem!

Their breakfast consists of a rooll and SMALL coffee at the bar next door run by employees who are rude and treat you as if you are an inconvenience. The Hotel is NOT near the public trasit as implied. The elevator can be taken AFTER walking up a flight of stairs. On arrival we found that our extremely small room had a large hole in the wall between our bed area and the toilet (bathroom). When we asked for another room they said that none other were available with a/c. They promised to bring duct tape to cover it but NEVER did. There are some restraunts nearby. The a/c worked fine (but unfortunately it was an hour trek to return to our room from anywhere of interest). Within a few blocks is a VERY scary area of town.

The room was VERY small but for 100euros/night and at very good location (near Termini) and quiet street, it did not matter. We were wellcomed warmly and had a great time in Rome. Erittäin pieni huone ja kylpyhuone kuin Ruotsin laivassa mutta sata euroa/yö erittäin hyvästä ja rauhallisesta sijainnista vaikutti tilanteeseen niin, että pienuuden unohti. The Virginia is not in the same area as any of the main tourist attractions in Rome. This is the main reason we chose it because it was in a relatively quiet area with numerous restaurants, cafes and bars very nearby. The hotel was probably the cleanest I have ever stayed in and had character. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated a short walk from the main train station and therefore transport to any area of Rome and beyond. If you don't mind a bit or exercise it is also within walking distance of the Trevi Fountains / Spanish steps. I would recomend this hotel and would stay here again.

Overall our stay wasn't bad. The room was small but the bed was relatively comfortable. All of our other hotels had CNN in the room but not this one. We didn't watch much TV but it was nice to keep up with the world. The biggest downside of the room was the shower. It didn't hold temperature at all. It would swing wildly from cold to very hot. Family with children ages 14 & 11. Love this hotel every one was friendly and helpful. Found it easily with a comfortable walk from the ROMA TERMINI. Many eating areas to choose from. Pizza next door on the left and Breakfast on the right. A resturant with reasonable prices opposite. We had a steak dinner twice. And I would like to add it was the best steak for our whole European trip. All sites of Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps, and The Colleseium were within walking distance. Also the train and bus station is close by to go to the Vatican City. What topped off our vacation was having dinner and a man came around playing an accordian. We also heard it from our hotel room it was beautiful. If ever we go back to Rome we are staying at Hotel Verginia. Also during the day for a few hours Via Montabello turn into a flea market. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. Being from the caribbean we did not have any problems with language and once you have the map they provide it is very hard to get lost.

Very disappointing hotel. We went there in June, according to the website, it said the rooms come with air conditioning but we arrived we were told that the ceiling fan was the air condtioning. The room was very small and old. The hot water didn't work. I just wanted to move to another hotel but it was late at night when we arrived. The public area was small and dark. However, the staff was helpful and the location was quite good, not far from termini station.

We chose this hotel because of the good reviews, the price, the photos of the rooms and its close proximity to the main Termini station. From this station there are regular coaches to the airport; and you can get anywhere you want to go by bus or metro train. We stayed for a week. We arrived at the Termini by coach from the airport and wheeled our suitcases the short distance to the Virginia hotel. From the hotel you can walk to most of the popular places to visit in Rome; or the buses and metro trains are very close, cheap and regular. The hotel is exactly as you see in the photos; the staff are very friendly and helpful; and speak good English. We were given a choice of rooms on arrival. The rooms are relatively small as you would expect at this price in Rome but are clean and changed daily. Breakfast is coffee and a croissant at the bar next door. The bar is convenient for good, budget food and drink. There is a large supermarket close nearby as well as banks, newsagents, shops, bars, cafes, etc. I would certainly stay at this hotel again and would recommend it if you want cheap but clean accomodation within a reasonable walking distance of most of the popular sights in Rome. If you dont enjoy walking too far, the Termini station is close by with good transport links to anywhere in Rome or Italy and both airports.

A good hotel, with a very nice evening/night receptionist. It is clean and simple. Just breakfast is not more than coffee and a pastry. It is not far from a metro station and you are very fast at all the sites.

We were in a quadruple room (2 adults and 2 kids), which is not easy to find in Rome. The employees were very kind, available. The room was clean, quiet even on the street. Not very spacious, but with 4 persons, I think it's normal. The only "black point" was the breakfast, taken on the small bar besides the hotel : not good, not sufficient, overcrowded with no place to stay.

This hotel was excellent for a 2 star rating. The room was clean, the bathroom spacious, excellent location to all sights within walking distance, couple of blocks to bus and train terminal. I am extreamly fussy and I had nothing to complain about. Breakfast served next door in restaurant was great (sweet rolls, coffee or tea). Our room faced court yard which is quieter however a bar accross the courtyard was noisy so we closed the doors to the balcony and turned on the air conditioning. (total quiet which is hard to achieve in the middle of Rome) I will stay there again the next time I go to Rome.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Hotel Virginia. The location was convenient for our purposes and the staff was friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to others. There was an excellent restaurant nearby as well. We found all of our accomodations thru venere.com and found that web site very helpful.

Hotel is strategically located near Termini and Piazza Republica. A lovely Italian restaurant (reasonably priced) is situated just across the hotel. A cafe bar & pub is conveniently located at ground floor. A modest breakfast is included in the room rate. We have no complaints.. thumbs up.

The rooms are a little loud, but if you don't mind that, which we didn't, it is a very nice place to stay. The staff is freakishly nice and very accomodating. Transportation around the city is readily available.

The shower is too narrow. That is the only negative thing i can think of about this hotel. This hotel is perfect for those who just want a place to stay without it costing a fortune. Will certainly return.
