Hotel Villa Rosa - Rome

structure unreliable. We were housed in a structure, hotel il villino, about 200 meters from the hotel villa rosa in a hotel with no staff and bar. The morning for breakfast I had to take to the streets and go to the main building and then return to the room. Not to be trusted!!

We had great difficulty trying to find this hotel. The staff at the info booth at Roma Termini were useless. We sort of found our way by asking fellow travellers but then got lost, gave up in the end & caught a taxi which saved a lot of frustration. The room they assigned us was a dog box & right on the very busy main road which also has a very busy tram line. I did email them & asked for a quiet room but got one of the noisiest. We did get changed to a better & quieter room but only to find we were on a floor with very noisy teenage school children. If you are prepared to walk a lot then Trastevere is quite an old & pretty part of Rome with a wonderful view of Rome from the top of the local park, great photo opportunity, but I felt it was too far out. The breakfast was adequate but the cereals were tasteless & boring.

The hotel was diffiult to find and instructions of how to get there are poor. It is in a rough area of rome. Next to a very noisy road. The room I spent the first night in had no curtains and was very small. They demanded full payment before we were allowed to stay.

Staff was very helpful. We were disappointed in location-appeared much closer to Tiber River on map, and was in a rather grungy area when one descended the stairs to vialle di Trastevere. Rooms were small as expected.

It was the first time we stayed at Villa Rosa but we will stay again if in Rome. It had good standard for a 3 star hotel.
