About a 15 minute walk from the Spanish steps so a little off centre but still a great location. It was clean, well appointed, comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.

A small hotel at the centre of Rome, not far from the main railway station and also from points of interest. Spacious room, everyday cleaning. A shared bathroom was near the room and it was quite good. An air-condition did not function and I had to open the window to get some fresh air. Some of personnel did not speak english, but was very friendly and helpful. On check-out I could not pay by the credit card because of some problems with terminal.

We spent there four days and everything was Ok. The only think I didn't like was that the street was a little bit noisy in the morning, and that we could slightly hear recepction's TV from our room. The staff was very king and helpful.

Very good for a short trip to Rom. Nice and clean rooms. Friendly staff. Noise and no aircondition are the only limitations.

Nettes kleines Hotel mit hervorragendem Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Lage ist recht gut, da mehrere Buslinien ander Piazza Fiume bzw. Porta Piu halten.

It was my second time staying at this hotel and my only regret is that I didn't know about it earlier since I've travelled to Rome many, many times. The hotel was newly renovated since last year and I actually thought there was nothing wrong with it before. Now the reception area is very nice and the rooms impeccable. Spotlessly clean bathroom. They didn't have carpets in the bedrooms before so now they look more like standard hotel rooms but so far everything is squeaky clean. Large single room with wonderful view of a courtyard. You can't hear any traffic at all. Walking to Piazza di Spagna and Villa Borghese is not far but I often took the bus (easy) to the most central parts like Fontana di Trevi, the Corso, Piazza Borghese and continued on foot from there. Very nice people working at the hotel, very helpful. When I asked about taking a bus or train to Tivoli they wouldn't rest until they had called the bus company and found a much faster way than taking the train. They also know a lot about restaurants. There are many bars nearby where you can have breakfast. I will definitely stay at Hotel Versailles again.

Ristruttarato da poco,l'albergo è molto pulito e accogliente. Purtroppo al mio arrivo l'aria condizionata non funzionava perchè l'impianto era in fase di ultimazione. A parte questo piccolo neo sono molto soddisfatto.

It is a newly renovated hotel therefore it is a lot cleaner and nicer than other hotels that I stayed in Verona, Venice, Pisa and Florence. More importantly, they are friendly and able to communicate quite well in English.

My room was noisy (on a busy road), although rooms on the other side where quieter. The air conditioning was not working. They said they switch it on in June, but it was May and very hot. For €90 a night, you'd expect to turn it on as you need it. I have asked for a fan and that was very kindly supplied the next day. The shower wasn't impeccably clean, but the room was acceptable. Employees where living in the premises and smoking. The hotel seems to have gone through a recent renovation, but as of May 09 the finishing touches are not quite complete yet, so some sockets were not fitted and some live wires where exposed. However, the personnel was very efficient, very nice and incredibly helpful

The hotel is wonderful...aside from the noise of the front desk (but luckily I read the reviews and came prepared with earplugs!)which shuts down at about 10 and reopens at 8. The staff is friendly, as are the neighboring businesses. Will definitely stay there the next time I'm in Rome.

Beware that this hotel is in a business building on the fifth floor. It is what it states, a one star hotel, more attuned to a bedsit, but very comfortable. Despite being on the fifth floor, street noise is almost constant. The main sights of Rome are quite some distance from this hotel, despite what the advertisemnt states, but public transport is plentiful.

Guys, Rome is a gorgeous city, but it is demanding..lot of sightseeing! and if you have friends there, well, you know how tired you can be. Versailles hotel offered us (male and female friends) a perfect location, perfect space for our needs and the confort of having our own keys! better than a hostel; more expensive as well, of course, but 10 euro more per night isn't much for what we had. One thing one might want is breakfast included (which wasn't)and an ensuite bathroom. But the "ensuite sink" we had was perfect enough! The only negative point is that sometimes, especially at night, there is nobody in reception: anyone can take your room keys if you're not in. I was aware of it, and i've carried the important stuff with me. be aware, you'll pay with cash. all things considered, for young people is the best!

Stayed at the Versailles Hotel for 3 nights. Our room was spacious with a wash basin in room and a clean shared bathroom. Close to public tranport and restaurants. Would stay at this Hotel again and recommend for budget travellers who want a clean Hotel room in convenient location and reasonable rate in Rome.
Denmark, Oct 2008
Fairly good hotel for the price. Don't expect any kind of services or whatsoever and you won't be disappointed. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel is quite close to Termini station ( 10 mns on foot ) and you can get sometimes a bus to the more exciting places like Campo di Fiori. I wouldn't recommend this hotel in summer though no air conditionning and the district is really noisy. Last advice , learn a bit of Italian before going there ;-)

This was absolutely fine for what I wanted - a stop-over for a night in Rome on my way on to Assisi and beyond. It was convenient for the station and my favourite pizzaria and inexpensive. I wouldn't have stayed for any longer but then I wouldn't normally book a one star hotel for more than a night. Breakfast was not included. The lady speaks little English. The toilet was right next door to my room and there was a washbasin in the room, so not having ensuite facilities was not a problem. The shower down the corridor was not hot - but it was such a hot night that I was quite pleased! Overall a very basic hotel but I consider that I got what I paid for

Great great great! This was not our first time in Rome and it was perfect, value for money. We stayed there just one night, two days, but it was exactly what we where looking for: cheap, very clean, confortable and spacious room, very nice welcoming and staff very helpfull. We could leave our luggage in deposit for almost one day. The hotel is close to many bus stops and it's possible to get easily everywhere from there. The surroundings are safe and many restaurant, pizzerias, supermarket are there. We will definetly go to Hotel Versailles again next time.

Small family hotel, very clean, and conveniently located close to the city center. Manager very nice and helpful. Decoration a bit out-fashioned, but that's a budget hotel, very affordable. What we basically wanted was a convenient, comfortable and clean place to sleep (being in the streets of Rome most of the day :o) and this hotel perfectly met our requirements. Only drawback : rooms on the street side can be noisy, especially when you leave the windows open (no air-con). But globally we were very satisfied with our stay, considering the price we paid (44 euros per night for a double with shared bath). Recommended !

The owner should think more about his personal aspect before he recieves any customer. The hall and the TV room carpet is very dirty. The rooms are clean but are extreamly hot. The location is great because you have the bus stop 5 minutes walking and have good restaurants near by. The pictures that are shown in this site does not correspond to the reality indeed.

A nice little family running pension. Rooms are small but very tidy and clean. The same for the public bathroom and toilet. Very nice people working there. Two older men with good English and the "soul" of the house who knows only a few words in English. Good distance from the centre: Roma Termini 15 minutes, Spanish Stairs 20 - 30 minutes by foot! Many bus stops and a metro all 5 minutes by foot away. very important: behind the pension are some supermarkets and cheap but good and cheap, origin restaurants and a marketplace. In conclusion: A perfect Hotel for all cheap travellers who can do without big comfort. This Hotel is for sleeping and that you will do very well! If I go back to Roma I`ll be back in pension Versailles!!

This was my least favorite place out of 6 budget hotels we stayed in while traveling. First of all, the place smelled TERRIBLE. I actually had to hold my breath when I was walking in the hallways and had to buy air freshener. Also, we were not aware that towels were only provided for rooms with private bathrooms. They gave us hand towels that were actually like paper. We weren't even sure if they were towels. Also, someone wasn't sitting at the desk all night, so to get back in your room late at night they told us just to go behind the desk and take the key... which means ANYONE could have gone behind the desk and taken our key at night. This made us very uneasy. Also, upon our departure, the man at the desk was very annoyed that we wanted to pay in credit card and creepily swiped the card 3 times (needless to say we'll be carefully checking our credit card bill.) He then proceeded to insult us and tell us that we were foolish, saying "no no no no no!," to spend 3 nights in Florence and only 2 nights in Rome. I think our travel decisions are none of his business, and it was especially rude to insult us as we were giving him our money. On the "good" side, the place was in a safe location, the sheets were clean (the bedspread, however, had holes in it and was disgusting), and the shared bathroom was pretty clean too. There is also a cute dog who lives there, so people who are allergic might want to beware. I wouldn't stay here again, though I'll miss the cute dog.

It was in a really good part of the city, Bus is better to take then the metro, because the metro is further away from the hotel and you have to walk aways to get to it. The hotel is really clean, family owned. The guy who owns it is really nice and helpful. would definetly stay again.

The staff was very nice and the room clean and accommodating. The beds were a bit too hard making sleep difficult. There were no phones available nor internet access. Also, there was no mention in the on-line information that this was a cash-only establishment. Additionally, a family member needed to contact me with an emergency and the individual answering the phone for the hotel did not speak any English, nor did anyone tell us that someone had actually tried to reach us. Needless to say, this caused a great deal of anxiety and frustration for us all. Overall, the hotel was lovely but the lack of communication availability and the fact that it was a cash-only establishment made out stay less than optimal.

If you need a cheap place to stay, this worked out well. Clean, but with a shared bathroom. Taxi stand right there, and it was 3euro to get to Via Veneto, and 12euro to the Vatican. Not necessarily the place you take your family, but if you are mobile, this is a good value.

Ok hotel, but we had a room giving directly on the 'lobby' of the pension, so even as the pension is small, it was not fully quiet. The shared bathrooms are clean but aged. The rooms are spacious, but without airco, and opening on a large noisy avenue. It was fine for November but i would definitely avoid it during summer season. For the price don't expect much, but for a short stay it is fairly enough.

Overall a nice, friendly, quiet, clean, affordable (relative to the rest of Rome), safe place to stay. Both the owner and his staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The owner speaks English well, though the lady who was helping him did not. Fortunately I can speak French so communication with her was not a problem. Expect to pay your bill in cash as the credit card machine was not working. I suspect that the credit card machine is more for show than anything. The towels were more like large napkins than towels, so bring your own if you require terry cloth. I would likely stay there again.

I'd forgotten the reviews I'd read some months earlier until arriving and it all came back to me. A delightful proprietor - very welcoming. His assistant, Jasmine, woke up very early to ring our taxi for which we were most grateful. We were delighted to find there was a lift as it was on the 5th floor! I also remembered that the credit card machinery "never works" - sure enough! We liked the atmosphere and ambience of this "pensione": good value.

This place is the best choice when you are looking for "great value for money"-accommodation which is well located in a nice part of Rome and still very central. The hotel only has couple of rooms and is in the 5th floor of a really nice, old house. The family running the place is extremly friendly and helpful. We had booked a room without bathroom which was equipped with a washstand what we found very convenient. The toilets/ bathroom were fine and clean. The room itself was very spacious. The hotel is well located in a good area of Rome. Villa Borghese is very close and also all other tourist sights are easy to reach. Around the hotel there are many nice places to eat and drink, also shops etc. We spent 5 nights at "Versailles" and we really enjoyed our stay there. We fully recommend it!

I stayed in Rome the first and the last night of my holiday. The first night I stayed in a two stars hotel for twice as much money, which I didn't think it was worth. I picked Versaille, because of it's low rate. I was surprised because it was better than I thought it would be. From the outside it doesn't really look like than on the photo , but it was easy to find, only a few bus stops from Termini station. The don't serve breakfast, but down the street there are many places you can eat breakfast for reasonable prices. Very friendly, service-minded, english speaking staff. The hotel is near to several bus stops, so you can take the bus to interesting sites for only 1 euro. But you might get stuck on a bus in the terrible traffic of Rome when you are in a hurry ! Anyways: this is an absolutely good hotel for the money.

1. We couldn´t pay with credit-card, so we were forced to give our cash money that we were planning to use in other places. To the question: why? we got too many explanations...the phone has just been changed, the connection is slow and poor. 2. We asked for breakfast, because it was promised in the net-pages and also in the price list, which was in the room (5€). Again we got too many explanations why they don´t serve it. My opinion is that too many explanations is bad service!

very quiet and clean close to everything and easy bus access, staff very friendly, i wish they had a bigger shower or even a bath .the linen was typically European something to get used to using a sheep material to dry up but that is the norm over there ( i missed my towels lol)perhaps better pillows would have been nice but the place was clean and overall was a good stay , i would go back for the price as well.

the location is good to start sightseeing, not far from villa borghese. but the lobby looks a bit like the living-room of my grand-parents, and at the first view my room looked not really clean. it was placed directly beside the bathroom so that you can hear other people going to shower.

OK. Didnt like towels that were as thin as regular sheets. Plus it was chilly in Rome and the heating was off. Not good! When checking out, they couldn't take my credit card, there was smth wrong with their card machine. So I had to pay cash, which I dont like. Otherwise, you get what you pay for. But still 80 euros for a double in a 1-star hotel isn't a tiny sum, is it?
