Hotel Valadier - Rome
Via Della Fontanella 15 - Rome
877-662-6988Situated between the Spanish steps and Piazza del Popolo, the hotel Valadier boasts one of the most beautiful positions within the heart of the city, where one can find the most exclusive shopping venues and major sights, all dominated by the glorious park of Villa Borghese.
The property is located in an ancient palazzo with a curious and contradicting history. First it was a convent, then a brothel and finally a hotel in the 1950's. Today, thanks to the family which owns and runs it, the hotel Valadier guarantees the maximum professionalism of its services as well as a cordial and convivial atmosphere.

We have informed the reception of a big problem of noise. The receptionist refuse to hear and to try to do anything. The piano bar is so noisy we cant' sleep before 4 a.m., hour of the closing.... The bedroom 419 was very old, very small and very dark. Needs to be fully renovated. Never again, I will go in this hotel. Claude Delannoy

We were welcomed warmly, the room was lovely, and our stay was wonderful. The location of the hotel is perfect for everything, from touring to business; the metro is within easy walking distance and taxis are readily available. The hotel dining room staff are very helpful and the ambiance of the rooftop area is charming. The breakfast was generous and well-prepared, and the staff in that area gracious and helpful. The entire hotel staff deserves praise.

The only bad thing I would have to say is the price at the bar went up after 10.30pm without been told I think the price doubled . The roof top restaurant was nice would not write home about it but it was pricy for what we got. WE found the stander of the hotel top class and would have no problem going back to saty there..

Personnel was great, very professional, and very polite. Great quality, excellent location. Restaurants at street level and terrace (all owned by the hotel) were also excellent. One must try the terrace restaurant! Internet connection was available (1,2,4,etc hours), which was very convenient.

The hotel was located within minutes of the Spanish Steps. It was an easy walk to the other areas of interest in the city's center. The rooms were VERY small and compact. I understand the european standards of hotel room size, but these rooms were even smaller. Definitely not a hotel to stay in when traveling with children. Other than that, the staff was very friendly and accommodating and the hotel was really beautifully maintained and decorated. The rooftop terrace was magnificent and a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and wind down from a busy day of sightseeing. The accommodations were wonderful for the price. I would not only recommend the hotel, but would stay there again.

Ottima la posizione, status signorile, personale attento e disponibile, l'ambiente sembra adatto alla coppia e non alla famiglia, il marmo nero alle pareti, gli specchi in camera, anche sul soffitto, disegnano un ambiente intrigante.

Quiet rooms, fantastic decor in our room, excellent breakfast, pleasant staff, were the good things. Not so good things - well, it all gets a bit OTT when you go to the piano / cocktail bar or the roof terrace. Exorbitant prices (10 euro per drink) in the piano bar - it was empty despite the hotel being full, what a surprise! On the roof terrace (HiRes): fantastic concept and it looks great but its way too expensive to eat there. Went for a drink but despite there being more staff than customers they were too busy to bother serving us. Advice for the evening - go elsewhere - there are a few good eateries close by if you look (Osteria St Ana for instance).

Un ottimo hotel con un ottimo servizio. Personale molto gentile e disponibile. Un pò di coda alle colazioni, ma era orario di punta. Il personale è stato comunque incredibilmente gentile e simpatico da far pesare il meno possibile l'attesa. Camere adorabili.

The best thing about the Valadier is its location. It is not as large (especially the rooms) as the photos indicate. However, I spent most of my time outside the hotel so for me it was great. The only meals I had there were the buffet breakfasts. There are so many close restaurants close by that that was not a problem. Compared to the other 4-star hotels I've stayed at on this trip (all in Italy), I would consider it a 3-star ... but the price is right. Located close to the Spanish Steps makes it easy to find - especially after a late dinner and a lot of wine.

The Hotel would suit couples looking for a romantic break in Rome. Fantasic location for sight seeing, eating out, and shopping. Also walking distance to Pincio hill (within Villa Borghese) for great views over Rome. The metro station Flaminio is also close to the hotel approx 5 min walk away going via Piazza Del Popolo - Great!

The hotel is small, but centrally located and nice. Pity that they clean their computer systems every 6 months, so they never know that it is your 10th stay with them - of course, recognizing their customers would be a big bonus to them.

I stayed at the valadier hotel in November. It was the first time I stayed there and I'm quite satisfied of the cleaness and the quality of service provided. The only thing I disappoint is that I payed for a double superior (I saw a room like that in their photos) but at my arrive they have only an ordinary double, very small and ugly, AT THE SAME PRICE. So be carefull!! However they were kind and the sorroundings were great.

I asked by email two weeks before my arrival that a dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant be made for us. We received a somewhat delayed response from the hotel, and when we arrived we were told the reservation had not yet been made. Eventually the reservation was made, but our feeling was that concierge services were better from some desk people than from others at the hotel. Room space was fine in our double room but our single room was small.

This is a very well situated hotel. Most of historic Rome is within an easy walk. I had two outstanding dinners in the restaurant. The one feature I missed was ready internet connectivity. The in-room system did not work, and the public computer worked only half of the time. That is why I did not give an excellent in Services and facilities. The staff were very helpful. One feature in my room was a pocket door that closed the bedroom off from the hall--a must when weekend partiers return late. I will stay in this hotel again when in Rome.

Everything was OK. Only the first day - our rooms weren´t free although the reservation was affirmed. The reception clerk said, that the rooms are in reconstruction und was passed us in anoter hotel, which wasn´t in the centre and rooms were there in cellar. The next day we could come back to the Valadier.

Our room had been used for a photo shoot & had not been cleaned after. There were food crumbs on the bed & the rug was very dirty & the toilet was not clean. There was no alternate room available so we had to wait for this to be taken care of. But after this we were quite satisfied This is an excellent little hotel in a great location.

Beyond Excellent!! I loved everything about Hotel Valadier. First class all the way and the sincerity and warmth of the staff made me feel so welcome. Non-stop genuine hospitality!! Excellent appertizers in the early evening are presented in the bar, which is so classy and relaxing and fun that the guests gather easily and I met so many wonderful people. The piano bar gets going about 11 pm and is quite popular. Great entertaintment to relax to after an evening out. And they didn't even punish me for falling asleep the 2nd night of my stay, in the corner of a comfy couch while enjoying the music, the atmosphere and a generous shot of sambuca. Hotel Valadier is "the best of the best" and the location is exactly where you want and need to be to explore and experience Rome. I am definitely anxious to return.

Although the room was clean only by Italian not Australian standards, the stench of cigarette smoke was appauling. If you are a non smoker this is not the place for you to stay. The rooms might as well not have had walls, you could hear every single word spoken in the room next door. It didn't help having a pub right outside the hotel. It was impossible to get any sleep. The hotel (with its rude bar staff) has an insane policy of charging 15 Euro per glass/cup whether you have water, coffee, juice, wine, brandy or whatever else is on the drinks list.

We stayed at the Viladier for two nights in December. It was a very pleasant experience. Attentive service and very conveniently situated for shopping and the sights. Rooms were compact but very unusual, most had mirrors on the ceilings! It felt a bit like a cabin on a luxury yacht. The hotel arranged a taxi for us to and from the airport which was great. We booked bed and breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast was good. Bar area was very busy the nights we stayed, and prices were expensive. Overall a very good hotel in an excellent location.

Great location. The room we styaed in was very small and the public areas are also compact. There was also some building work being done which contributed to the noise [and not a little dust!]. Whilst the location and public areas of the hotel were excellent this was not matched by the quality of our room. The room (room 320)was particularly small and irregular in shape with very little space around the bed.The standard of the bedroom accomodation did not match our expectations especially when compared with other 4 and 5 star hotels we have used in the area.In particular we were disappointed with the poor state of finish in the room e.g. badly scratched wooden floor and damaged ceiling, together with inadequate heating.

We requested and confirmed a double room but were given a twin room upon check-in. the changes to the correct room cost us a delay of 24hours, in which it took us several request to the hotel management to finally realised their mistake and transferred us to the room that we chose. due to this, we are not able to unpack and enjoy the first day/night in Rome. the door access card proves to be another hassle and inconvenience as it locked us out every 1.5 days. there are no telephone at the hallway for us to call and inform them but instead has to make another trip to the reception for them to release a new pin for the door access. overall, the property is not desirable for another future visit but the hospitability of the staff at the hotel restaurant where we took our morning breakfast were warm and cheery. otherwise, the whole property and management staff looks and feel as dark and cold as the decor.

On arrival early in Am our room was not yet ready but we were offered seats in the lounge and were served comp. cappuchino . After 20 minutes or so , we were escorted to our room. while small, which is to be expected in most hotels , it was spotlesly clean and had individual a/c,nice toiletries, and good room safe. The decor or the lobby and lounge area is lovely. The breakfast most plentiful and the servers totally charming, especially Diana. In the evening after returning to hotel it was lovely to have a final espresso or drink while lsening to the excellent pianist in the lounge. An excellent choice, particularly at the wonderful price we obtainined through venere
