This was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed at. I arrive 10pm and no one could speak English, The bed facilities were most unsatisfactory and not clean. There were inadequate facilities, no hot water and bed sheets were deplorable.Toilet facilities were much below hygenic standard. I request you to take this so called hotel off your list.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Urbis. The room was clean but small. We had two adults and two teenage kids with us, so the quarters were tight. The location was perfect. I was a little worried about being so close to the train station, but the room was quiet at night. We loved being so close to the bar, gelato and other foods places. We shopped at the little alementari for water and snacks. Gianni was especially helpful to us and we loved the computer available for us to check in with home.

The hotel was apparently having problems with the water when I came to stay, so I was put up in a nearby '3 star' hotel for the same price. I can't quibble much, but I was not overly impressed by the room in the substitute hotel. Some of the ratings therefore relate to the substitute hotel!

My stay at the hotel was satisfactory. It is only that hotel seems to be misrepresented at web page as 3-star hotel, while it is actually 2-star hotel (at least that is what is says on the board at the hotel entrance)

With the railway station and bus terminal so close this hotel is perfectly positioned. The owners are delightful and could not do enough for me. As for price/quality I find that seems to be on par with other hotels possibly the friendliness and helpfullness of the owners help make this one better, plus the close proximity to transport. I would not hesitate to stay there again next time I am in Rome. Don't understand the type and number of available rooms question, how would I know the number of available rooms, etc? So my answer of 10 is just to fill in the missing field!

The hotel is really close to the Termini station no more than 3 minutes what is a great advantage. the room is ok for 2**, the bath is very small and if you take a shower everything will be wet. Do not accept to much, but it is ok to slepp. the stuff is helpful. we have not tried any other facility besides the room so no comment on that.

Booked this at the last minute for a one night stay in Rome before flying back to UK. As we were catching the Terravision bus back to the airport, we were delighted by the proximity to the bus pick up point - less than one minute's walk. The hotel was excellent value and the staff for most helpful. Use of internet was also offered at no charge.

We very enjoyed our stay in Roma. Location of hotel is really very very very good, 30m from the Roma main station (trains and also buses - Roma Stazione Termini). Internet worked very slowly, it was impossible to print. Room was quite clean, for this price it was ok, I can recommend Urbis hotel as good vallue for shorter stay in Roma.

The hotel was small and from the outside looked a bit seedy and run-down. However, it got better once we were inside. The lift was minute so we mainly used the staircase. The surroundings were ok. As regards the staff, one of the members was terribly rude and didn't allow us to use the internet access, which was supposed to be available 24 hours a day.

Though the room was spacious and comfortable enough, cleanliness could have been better. The other disturbing thing was that our window opened on an inner court, full of air-conditioning machines' exhaust parts, so noise and warm air came through the windows. Though the location was great (very close to Termini), these two negative factors make me say I wouldn't go back to this hotel

I think that 120 euros a nigngt for a 4 bed room without bathroom and withaout breakfast is very expensive. Be careful with the recepcionist's recommendations. He recomend to have breakfast in a cafe saying that it is cheaper for the cliants of the hotel, and it is not true.

Having Roma Termini a half a block away was an abosolute plus. We were in walking distance to many landmarks. If you are looking for a good economy hotel, this is a good one. Remember it is in an old building. Be sure and ask for a bath with your room. Some rooms do not have baths. Did not see the breakfast area and we did not ask.

The room is preety nice but rather pricy for the price that you pay. Staff are very friendly and helpful and location is very good as just next to Termini Station. Only problem is that the walls of the rooms are quite thin and it can be quiet noisy and the floors squeek. So when someone walks in the corridor outside your room, it is rather noisy and the floor in the room sort of vibrates. Otherwise, it was alright but as I said earlier quite pricy for EURO 105 per night with no breakfast etc

For me this hotel was OK, we were there for the holidays , so it was to expect that the prices overall will be so high. The problem were the strange employees, for which we were like some kind of friends. The hotel has from time to time problems with the hot water and no one seems to care really. The surroundings are also not the best, but evrithing else the situation of the hotel , its really perfect to visit all famous places. Also they have a new hotel nearby, which seemed for me a lot better : Pavia, i think was the name, its better situated and it looks really charming.

After you get over the unimposing and actually scary entrance, get on the very tiny lift and go up to the hotel. It is very warm, comfortable and convenient to the train station. The desk clerk was able to refer us to an excellent dinner at a nearby restaurant that gave us a discount on our dinner. The day clerk was extremely helpful with showing us on a map where to go and how to most easily get there. He also gave us helpful hints on where to eat without spending a fortune. The hotel served our purpose which was budget accommodation, room only basis, somewhere to sleep and shower.

Our stay at Hotel Urbis was less than fair. It was ruined by the rude welcoming upon arrival, and unfortunately we had the displeasure of encountering this particular member of staff on more than one occasion. It also came to our attention that the staff at Hotel Urbis were not multilingual, it was stated on the website they were. Furthermore the rooms were small, and the towels provided were still damp. The internet provided also did not work. We would not stay at this hotel again, as for the same price there are many hotels available in Rome. Hotel Urbis states on their business card that it is "The Friendly Hotel", rest be assured this is certainly NOT the case.

We chose this hotel only because of its vicinity to Stazione Termini, for easy access to the bus for Ciampino early in the morning. However, in this area, hotels may believe that you are trying to fool them, so they (unjustly) want to keep your passport until your departing. If you are retired, and an EU citizen, you will need your passport to get free access to Collosseo, Museo Campidoglio, Terme di Caracalla etc, which the portier at this hotel feignes not to know. Also, one room of originally four booked, was duefully cancelled with Venere, but the portier was persistent in wrongfully arguing that this was not the case. Moreover, the portier did not acknowledge Venere´s confirmation that payment was due at the departing from the hotel. Only after showing the message from Venere, and repeated phonecalls by the portier to the hotel owner, these questions were put right. No breakfast provided. We were three retired couples. At my next trip to Roma, I will certainly book at some other hotel, and I would recommend anybody else to do so.

Owner is not welcoming at all. Some employees are better. Dingy place, not good price/quality at all, merely decent. If you go there, they know you are stuck with them and they do not move a finger to make your stay more enjoyable. They are in a good location, so they know they will always have someone staying there (I know, as I had to go there already a couple of times). Check the other hotels in the same building. They might be a better choice. By the way, be aware that the elevator is very narrow. In case you have oversized luggage you might have to take them upstairs one by one.

The photographs are much nicer than the hotel itself, the whole building looks quite shabby. It was not as clean as I would have expected, in a corner I even found a piece of old underwear. There was no basin in the toilet, to wash my hands after I either had to use the shower or cross the bedroom. For 60 Euro/night I would have expected more. The free internet access was a single old PC which was most of the time broken. The only good thing was, the hotel is really close to Termini station so public transport, internet cafes and the busshuttles to the airports are quite close. The personnel was okay.

Considering the cost of this property it is BAD value. No doubt it is right outside Roma Termini station. But then so are many other places. We happened to stay in another B&B in the first part of our vacation and it was far better and cheaper and the same distance as this place. The bathroom here was tiny with the shower right in the front. So it would be wet all the time. The bedsheets and towels actually had huge holes in them. Look around and you'll find something better for sure.

I just returned from Rome on the 14th of May, and we had booked the Urbis for 2 nights at the end of our itinerary. I found the front desk employees all to be very helpful. We even had one of the men book us a tour for the same evening. As most tours were already sold out, he went above and beyond to find us one that was available. And sure enough, he booked it for us. The tour company come to the hotel to get us, and we were on our way. He even asked us the next day if we enjoyed our tour. Not sure why so many people that reviewed this hotel were saying they were very rude? Upon check-in there was a nice young man that checked us in very quickly. He told us about the free internet access right there in the lobby. Our room was not ready when we arrived, but we were aware of that since we arrived pretty early, and went off to tour more of Rome. When we returned to the hotel, they had our room ready, and moved our bags into the room for us. Very helpful! We had no problems with noise. But keep in mind, you are in one of the busiest areas of Rome, and of course you will hear some noise as in all big cities. We had a triple room with bath. The beds were 3 singles and were close together, as the room is not a large one. It was clean, the bathroom had a bathtub and shower, and the water pressure was excellent. We had clean towels, so that worked out good. However, just a tip to all those traveling to Italy, the budget hotels really dont provide the best towels, so, bring your own next time. Wal-mart sells towels for about $2.00. Remember, you are paying for a budget hotel, not a luxury 5 star property. I mean, for the money, and the location, we thought this hotel was perfect. Yes, the beds were very soft, but hey, what do you expect for a budget property? If you want luxury, and dont mind spending hundreds of dollars on a hotel room that you will hardly be in, then that is up to you. I would recommend the Urbis again, and will stay there again. If

This is the first hotel I've ever stayed at in Europe, and we were admittedly looking for an inexpensive hotel, but I was shocked at how dirty it was. There was a crusty plastic cup in a holder in the bathroom with an old cigarette butt in it, hair in the tub & on the floor, stains & holes in the sheets, etc. We were charged for air conditioning, supposedly payable only by cash (15 Euro per day). When we requested a fan like the ones our friends had in an adjoining room, we were initially told that since our room had A/C available (for a fee) we could not have a fan. We brought it up the following day with a different clerk & he told us that not only could we have a fan so we didn't have to pay for A/C, but that the price the first clerk quoted us for the A/C was too high! No doubt, he would have pocketed the difference. The beds were not doubles, as requested, but 2 singles pushed together & so old & soft that you sunk in the middle. For 100 Euro per night, I wasn't expecting luxury, but at the bare minimum I expected basic cleanliness & to not be taken advantage of.

Not quite happy with my stay there. The room did not look that it has been cleaned properly. Besides, there were lots of mosquitos. Towels were worn out. There was a confusion about breakfast as well. We were denied one though I am quite certain I would have opted for it during booking. The lift was quite small, hardly enough space for 3 people to stand. Overall, not a good experience.

I had booked a single room without bathroom for 50 euros, but when I arrived, this type of room wasn't available. Instead, they offered me a single room with bathroom for 65 euros. After some discussing they gave me a single room with bathroom for 50 euros. Except for this, I think the Urbis hotel is a very good hotel. It's really close to the station and also to the busses that leave for the Ryan Air-airport Ciampino, which is really very useful if you have a lot of luggage. Because my room wasn't on the street side, I didn't hear any noise. The staff was also very helpful.

I was very precise about thats propoblly why receptionist didnt liike my. When we finally got the room everything was ok. Our reason for staying here was to have a room close to Termini station so that it was convenient for travelling to the airport early in the morning. For this purpose the hotel was perfect. The management was very friendly and helpful and although the entrance and stairwell to the building was unwelcoming, once in the hotel it was clean and neat.

The quality adviertised in website doesn't match the price paid. Other hotels (in the same website) had a better quality for the same price paid at the Urbis, and even for less than the price paid at the Urbis.

The situation of the hotel is great, just so close to the station. But the quality of the bed is terrible.it was not possible to have a good sleep on that kind of bed.we found out that the bed was broken and they fix it with a piece of wood!!!I am not recommending this place.

Appalling treatment upon arrival at our reserved hotel. Despite confirmation from Venere.com and the hotel we were turned away from the hotel at 2am upon arrival as they said they had no rooms for us. We had to walk another 3 blocks for the alternative hotel which had been scribbled on a piece of paper for us. We had 3 children and an elderly disabled lady who were in extreme discomfort due to this. I would like an explanation of why this had happened despite assurances and confirmation that the rooms were booked and that we were expected. We were a party of 9 people and had booked 4 rooms.

Very bad experience with this hotel. We booked a double room with private bath and A/C via Venere one month before travelling. When we arrived the hotel in the early morning, we were told it was too ealy to get room ready. We understood that and came back around noon, the staff told us the hotel was full and we were referred to another hotel upstairs. Our stay at referred hotel--Bruna was totally awful: dirty sheet, dirty cups in wash room, very small room, no room clean service during our 2 days stay, no air conditioner before 6:00pm if we did not insist. A piece of bread for breakfast, no Internet ascess as promised, etc. I cannot understand how they still get 2 stars rating. It do not even worth 1 star. Even through, they still charged full price as quoted.

The web page does not say it is on a second floor. The attendants do not speak good english (no problem with that) but as any other roman "service provider employee" have a nasty attitude towards giving information. It also should say in the website that payment is required IN advance of leaving not find out rudely from the old man at the desk the morning the day before we leave. I suggest that the hotel provides tourists note cards in all the main languages they are presented to the tourist with all the information required (beats talking to the desk attendant). Rome has excellent monuments and beautiful works of art and history. Visit Rome for these not the people these make no effort in "service"...
How to reach Hotel Urbis
By car
The property is easily reachable coming from the motorway: once reached the Grande Raccordo Anulare ring road, proceed until the exit Tiburtina-Roma Centro. From the exit continue along via Tiburtina following the signs to Termini railway station; once there take via Marsala and turn left; the hotel is located at the right side exit of Termini station.
By airplane
The Roma Fiumicino-Leonardo Da Vinci international airport is about 30 km from the hotel. From the airport, the best way to get to the central station is the Leonardo Express train service, leaving every 30 minutes. The ticket price is €8,80.
