this is not a four stars but a 3 stars. Disappointing breakfast.Great location. We requested some advice about dinner. The employee seemed to know one only restaurant in Rome and insisted very much about it, refusing to give us any other clues and traying to discourage other choices. Of course we didn't go there. We easily reached by foot another area that according to him was extremely too far

A nice hotel in the very centre of Rome. The interior is quite outdated and you won't want to hang around the hotel more than is necessary but this is reasonably priced, comfortable, air conditioned, clean accommodation in a location that couldn't be better (just a short walk from the colosseum, trevi fountain and right beside the forum). Breakfast is ok - nothing special. The only reason I would think twice about staying here again is the slimy, arrogant bastard who works behind the desk. When we got to the road where the hotel is located, I rang him from my Irish mobile to get directions and he told me he didn't have time to give me directions and to ring back in 5 minutes. Sure enough, he proved himself to be a total wanker when we went to check-in (having found the place ourselves). All that said - I'd stay here again.

Great hotel in the midst of all that is Roman. The only place my sister and I did not walk to was the Vatican. Great staff service. Room was really big for a European hotel. You won't regret staying here. Also a fresh water fountain right behind the hotel. Perfect because we were there in the summer. And a great and friendly cafe around the corner from that.

Hotel Traiano is very central located in the historic part of Rome with walking distance to all atractions. We found the staff service minded. Our rooms were rather small, but quiet and rather nice. The breakfast (buffet) were OK.

This hotel is in a great location. Not that far from the train station and very central to the historical area of Rome. Our room was very small even by Europe standard and it was out to the road, but the noice wasn't that bad. The staff we found to be good but as others have said the breakfast was not great. It finished too early for a start but that seems to be the norm in Italy. It was of course the usual cold meats, cheese etc, but the quality was not great with really processed cheese and processed meats only. The hotel while it has airs of grander days is really just a B&B, with no bar or resturant. Having said this it was clean, the beds were good enough and the staff was okay, so at that price, in that great location, what more can you expect.

Overall Very Good. First room assigned, although requested different, was noisy from street, but was changed for one much better including a larger bathroom. Staff all courteous and efficient, except for a waitress in the Breakfast Room who was a little surly to some customers. Could walk to most of the important landmarks, except for the Vatican.

It was quite an expensive place to stay, even with the internet rate, but the whole hotel was amazingly beautiful. The rooms were spacious, well-decorated, and very clean. All of the desk staff were friendly and helpful. Even though our room faced the main street and we could hear traffic, there were no loud bars nearby so the noise did not keep us up. The location was just amazing, except for the lack of nearby metro station. This will apparently be fixed when the new metro line C is complete. My only complaint is that the "Do Not Disturb" sign we hung on the door was not honored. However, I would most certainly stay here again.

The hotel is in a good spot, and with the special rate, the price was fine. However, it took over 2 hours to retrieve our car and that was completely unacceptable. There is no official parking through the hotel either. Hotel would be considered noisy by most, although I was so tired it did not matter.

We stayed at the Hotel Traino for 3 nights in april. i have no idea how this hotel got a 4 star rating. the rooms are pretty small compared to other 4 star places i've stayed in and the facilities aren't that great either. the hotel room was tiny, enough space for the bed and to walk around it and thats it, no satellite tv, only 1 english language channel and the bathroom was pretty dated, the shower head was old and dirty, the bath itself was barely big enough to stand in to take a shower and the bed wasn't an actual double bed but two singles pushed together! thats the bad stuff!! the good stuff about the hotel is its location and the staff who are very welcoming and helpful. the hotel is walking distance from all the attractions and you can really see all of rome in a few days from this excellent location. it was also cheaper than most of the other hotels with a similar location. i suppose if you're going to rome you're not gonna spend much time in your hotel so all in all its a good place to stay, the only thing is that if you like a nice comfortable room to come back to after a long day of walking and i nice spacious shower than you'll be disappointed!

Great location!! Easy walk from hotel to Ancient Rome, and other major sites like Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps (cheap cabs made travel to Vatican City easy too). Friendly staff and spacious rooms. Our room on the front of the hotel was a little loud with traffic noise at night. Plenty of choices at breakfast in a lovely setting -- even our pickiest eater was satisfied!

The hotel concierge wasn't the friendliest. He didn't seem to like us asking for help/questions. There wasn't much hot water in the bathroom. We paid 7 euros to purchase a computer time card to surf the net, but it turns out that we didn't need it to begin with to log into the computer so we wasted our money.

Being in the centre of Rome this hotel was very good value for money compared to other hotels. A 4 star rating is a bit generous, as the rooms are quite basic and on the small side. However the rooms were very clean. There is a busy road right outside so there was quite a bit of traffic noise all through the night. The location of the hotel was excellent -just 5 mins walk to the Collesseum and Forum. Breakfast was okay - nothing special, and I am sure the hotel does own the worlds smallest lift - I would recommend the stairs! For short stays and as long as you don't intend to spend too much time in your room, this hotel does represent good value for money.

Room nowhere near as shown in the web pics. Bathroom had a leak causing a damp smell. In fairness we only stayed two nights so decided it was not worth complaining about. Hotel position was excellent and a comprehensive map was provided by reception which allowed us to visit all the major attractions on foot. Impressive breakfast room though not very impressed with the coffe served - we were in Italy after all!! I would stay again but would need a better room.

Very good relationship between price and location. You are in the middle of everything in Rome (walking distance from all important places and restaurants). The only "but" could be that the rooms can be too noisy if you get one at the front. We asked for a quiet one and we could sleep all night long (4 nights). Even if it could not be considered as a four starts in Spain, we would definitely stay there again.

Location was perfect. We had a rare room with balcony. Traffic noise was high with balcony door open but quite subdued when closed and eliminated with raising of ventilation fan speed. Bathroom was nice but could have used better showerhead. Bed very comfortable and lots of storage space. Breakfast room was total luxury and food was excellent. Staff was helpful. A safe is available for valuables.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel as we have in the UK but clean and staff very helpful. relatively expensive per night compared to the UK - but maybe all Rome is that way? Needs redecoration(which apparently started when we were there). Noisy rooms at front but lively when looking from window. Breakfast very good especially when you get fresh coffee made by the breakfast assistant rather than use the machine. Do not use their offer of shuttle from Ciampino (far too costly)but use bus to Termini and then taxi to hotel. Very close to majority of attractions and several excellent restaurants in walking distance

Nice Hotel in a great location close to all of the main attractions. A bit noisy till about 11 pm, but noise at night does not bother me. The view out the window was great and the room was very clean as well as the bathroom. It was not a real large room, but sufficient. Overall, I felt this hotel was in a safe area and the service provided was above par.

We received a good welcome on arrival at about 9.30pm & were directed to a very good local restaurant for dinner. The hotel is perfectly placed for visiting tourist sights on foot, and the open-top tourist bus passes the door. The nearest stop is about 100 yards away. We felt that a 4* hotel should have had lunch/dinner available on-site. The restaurant, used for breakfast, is stunning.

This hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Rome. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Breakfast was typical European style. Rooms were clean and standard European size. A/C worked fine for late July. Only complaint is that the walls are paper thin and you should hope for quiet neighbors. Street noise was not an issue as we had a rear room. Overall very good value for the price. We would considr staying there again if we return to Rome. NP....Arizona...USA

The room we received had only 1/2 of a shower door. Thus everytime my wife or I showered, the bathroom floor became quite wet....even though we tried very hard to avoid it. The desk had a huge hole in the bottom of it as if someone kicked it. Every night at 11:00 PM about 200 drunken bar patrons stopped by the bar under our window and made a lot of noise until 11:30 or so. I think this bar must have been part of a pub crawl, because it happened like clockwork every night. The staff were very kind. The breakfast was only fair. The coffee and juices were a joke.

This Hotel offers quiet rooms (with absolutely no view) as well as noisy rooms (with a view). You must be aware that this Hotel is located in walking distance of all the old attractions. The rooms are absolutely clean and our bathroom was almost new (room 312) but noisy. The breakfast (included) was very good, although they almost throw you out at 10 am when breakfat time is over. The reception staff is very friendly, you can use the safe for free. I would book the Triano again but would swap view for quietness.

The people at Triano were very nice, however, the hotel is very worn and needs to be updated-new carpets would go far in sprucing the place up. In addition, on my second night there, there was a problem getting the right room-I required twin beds. The beds had to be re-made and a roach crawled out of the sheets. When I pointed this out to the hotel staff, he reported that he kept the extra sheets in the kitchen which could account for the bug!!!

We booked this hotel based on the comments and photos in the venere web page. When we arrived we found the hotel was located on one of the busiest roads into the city centre and was covered in traffic grime inside and out. The room was tiny and very shabby, it overlooked the rubbish tip thy called the courtyard. The whole hotel resembled a DHSS hostel. We left the bags and went out to compare the hotels in the area and found a genuine 3/4 star with a lovely room complete with balcony and a roof terace overlooking the sights at the same price. Luckly a room was available and we moved in. The moral of the story is Venere charge too much and don't vet their hotels. Our 25th wedding anniversary would have been a disaster if we had not been able to find another hotel. The best of it is though, we are not fussy people. What someone expecting a nice place to stay would think I've no idea.

The hotel was in an excellent location for sightseeing in Rome especially on foot, however the pictures supplied were quite misleading to the quality of the rooms. Although spacious and clean, they were not to the usual standard of a 4 star hotel. The public areas also requires some attention regarding cleanliness, however, I would stay here again, but would negotiate on the price.

The "quiteness of room" question is not relevant because we were in ROME where noise is a way of life. A friend had suggested asking for a room at the back but I am glad I didn't because we were right over the main road and it was amazing, all part of the fantastic trip. I slept like a log. The hotel staff were helpful and charming. The architecture in the hotel is mind blowing, what ceilings!! The hotel far exceeded what we had expected. The only down side was the room was a bit dark but hey who cares about that when there is so much.

El sitio es fantastico, autentica vision de La Roma Imperial, vistas al foro palatino, muy centrico,se puede patear toda Roma. El hotel cumple bien Calidad/ Precio para ser un 4* de Roma. The hotel was well postioned for all the main sites, that rome has to offer. But the road that the hotel is on can be as busy as the M1! The bathroom was a funny shape, and to go to toilet involved postioning your legs to the side, under the wash basin. but we did have a balcony, which looked over the area in the middle of the block. not a very nice site. Shower was ace, always warm and powerful. Breakfast was ok, nice milk. Buying a coffee at the hotel was expensive, but was quite nice. Hotel was good and all you really need, very clean and well looked after. just what you need for a short break. overall good, wouldn't give it 4 stars, maybe 3.5!

First, the good news: FANTASTIC location! We were minutes from Trevi Fountain, the Colloseum, easy walk to the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, etc. Only took taxis to Villa Borghese and the Vatican and both were about 6 euro trips. Our room, 318, had a beautiful view of the Forum! Though noisy on the street-with double paned glass, shutters, and being exhausted from touring, we had no trouble sleeping. We reserved a standard double room for 150 euro/ night. We were actually placed in a triple which gave the 2 of us ample space for our things. However, the room decor was very outdated and the bathroom, though clean, had a peeling ceiling and needed some serious refreshing. (not at all like picture at venere.com) Though we prefer a more attractive room, my impression of Rome is that to get glamour, you're going to have to pay out the nose for it. Breakfast was sufficient to get us through to lunch - croissants, rolls, yogurt, meats, cheeses, etc. I would stay here again. The location makes up for a lot.

The staff are very very nice people and always very helpful. The entrance hall is very attractive. The decor throughout is reasonable but the carperts are worn, the lift is rikkety and the rooms are definatley in need of a lick of paint. The rooms were clean though and housekeeping was very attentive. If someone is next door you can hear them!!! The showers and baths are very noisy in the rooms next door so be aware if someone is taking a shower at 6am, you may aswell get up and do the same because you can NOT sleep through it! The traffic is noisy but certainly bearable and the surroundings are nice. All the restaurants near the hotel are fab, especially one straight across the road on the stairs, highly recommended. If we returned to Rome we would go back to that restaurant but probably search for another Hotel. That is not because it was not nice but I am sure you can find nicer for the same value.

Very pleased with Hotel Traiano and accuracy of my booking through Venere.com. Everything went smoothly. The hotel itself had lots of character (heavy Deco room doors, wall friezes and a fountain). Room was cleaned daily and breakfast was plentiful and edible. At check in, we were graciously shown two rooms for our choosing: quiet internal and "pretty noisy" external with a view. Since we're New Yorkers, we opted for a noisy external and really loved our view of Trajan's Market (and, as suspected, were not remotely bothered by the street noises). Perfect location too for walking and busing. I'd definitely recommend to a friend. Cheers!

The first impression is a very important one, I guess, and so the welcoming gave me a first hint of arrogance. We arrived at the hotel and it was no problem to leave the luggage in a storage room because we were early and our room wasn't yet available. The hotel is situated in the middle between Collosseo and city and therefore you can reach everything in a walking distance, which is very comfortable. But when we reached back at the hotel in the afternoon the staff at the receiption had changed and the one there wasn't competent at all. He did not understand my explanation that we already had checked in but haven't got a room number yet. So he asked us to wait. Ten minutes later he called me back and I had to explain everthing again from the start. Which is not a problem at all, but the way he did it, as if I were there to ask stupid questions and not beeing able to speak in an english he can understand, made me feel quite uncomfortable. In the end we got our room and the only thing to mention in a negative way is the noise. The windows are very thin and you can hear the traffic all night long. But we walked Rome all the day, so I wasn't disturbed at all in my sleep. And I think you can ask for a room that doesn't lie beneath the street with your reservation. The breakfast was for Italian meassure very good and the rooms were very clean. I think I can recommand the hotel in the end, because the others members of staff were very friendly ant the situation is very comfortable.

The hotel offered to pick me up from the airport but nobody ever showed up, was not granted any sort of compensation for that. Otherwise, the hotel is in a perfect location, just a few blocks from the Roman Forum and walking distance to the Coliseum, etc.

A great hotel with great location. You live in the history of old Rom ! It was one minus - it was not possible to open the window, it was complete darkness in the rom when the light was off.... Next time we will ask for a room with a view....!

This hotel is conveniently located, for it is relatively easy to walk to most of the main attractions. One gentleman (concierge) was very kind and very much wanted to help us. Another gentleman was not nearly as friendly. In fact, he sometimes gave the impression that we were interrupting him. The rooms were decent, nothing too spectacular, but they were relatively clean. I guess you could say that this hotel looks a bit worn; however, it served its purpose. I did feel that it was a bit too expensive. I suppose we paid for the location.

The over all stay was great. I got lost trying to find the place from the A1 and the instructions from staff could have been a little better. Customer service as great, very friendly, and welcoming. the rooms were very clean and spacious. The Location was minutes away from everything which was great But the Night life outside keep me up for a good portion of the night which Died down after a few hours. Also the Heating in the room was a little noisey. you have to pay for parking, 25 euro which wasnt expected. parking was away from the hotel and a parking attendant had to pick up and drop off my car.

We stayed at this hotel last year, although the weather could have been a bit warmer, we enjoyed ourselves. The hotel is right in the centre within walking distance of everywhere you could possably want to go in Rome. The staff are welcoming and cheerful its a nice homely feeling hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone

We stayed in four different hotels throughout Italy, and this was our best stay. It cost 20Euro more per night than the others, but it was worth it for the quality of the rooms, the service, and the very nice breakfast they provided. It was also one of the chaper places to stay in Rome. The location is nice too; the colosseum and the fora are very near the hotel. Buses are pretty convenient too. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a stay in Rome.

Did not stay in the hotel, because on arrival I was informed there was a problem and was offered a room in another hotel in a seedy part of the city. The problem was, supposedly, that the room was flooded. When I asked if I could see the room I was told that this was not possible. During discussions two Italian people arrived at the hotel and were booked in without any difficulty. I believe that the hotel is accepting double bookings and dumping those it thinks it can get away with it out near the Termini. As a result I believe the hotel had broken its contract with me and I found alternative accommodation. Singularly unimpressed with the hotel staff's attitude and lack of help.

The room is comfortable, the location is great and the staff was good. Photographs do not lie to you although pictures are always a little bit deceiving everywhere. I would stay there again.

Very good staff and the 'Roman'breakfast room has to be seen to be belived! Avoid rooms on the front of the hotel as they are noisy due to the main road outside.

The Traiano has an excellent location for exploration of ancient Rome - Trajan's market is across the road and the Forum is five minutes walk away. And it is right on some of the key bus routes. It is slightly old fashioned and a bit run-down for a 4 star hotel - carpets worn etc - but is none-the-less excellent value if you get one of its cheap deals. We paid 145 euros a night in May and there was nothing else in Rome to touch it for price. We've stayed there two years running and will do so again next time we go to Rome.

Our room was great, it was a corner room with a big mirror and it had windows on 2 walls, which made it look lovely. As location, I do not think you can get something better, it is perfect. The employees are not nice. Anyway we enjoyed very much this hotel.

hotel situated very central. easy to reach all the main areas of interest. Rooms in hotel were good but could be better esp., bathrooms which were small. Staff were generally very helpful and friendly, hotel very clean and breakfast was ok.

the hotel is located on an extremely noisy road, location is perfectly central, breakfast is very poor, basically cheap convenience food; though I asked for a quiet room when booking it was not possible to arrange this.
