Location on very busy street, but our room was in the back, closed off and on top of other building, but was very quiet. Location was central to all sightseeing. The hotel was adequate, but not value for the price. We would not stay at this hotel again.

A bit shady: Someone tried to open my room safe... how do I know? Upon returning from dinner one night, I could not open my safe... it had gone into safe mode, which means it disables itself when too many attempts are made to open the safe without the correct code. I called the front desk and at first they told me that they could not fix it until the morning at which point I got demanding and then they sent someone up to fix it. The person sent to fix the problem did not explain why this happened and merely shrugged as he opened my safe. Also, the first night I stayed, there was no turndown service... the night this happened, someone had turned down my bed... Leaving for the airport the next morning- they called me a taxi. Romes' taxis have a flat fare to Fiumicino which I asked the front desk about- they said that it could be 40Euro or sometimes more depending on traffic... that is absolutely not so. It is a flat fare. When the taxi came I confirmed the flat fare but the driver did not seem happy about the fact that I said this... meanwhile most of the other taxis I have taken in Rome state the flat fare when I get in... SHADY hotel and SHADY employees...

Stanze molto piccole e silenziose (chiedete quelle all'interno!) Ottima la pulizia delle camere

First visit for my friend and I to Rome on our way to hike the Amalfi Coast. Directions to the hotel were excellent. We took the train from the airport, then the subway and arrived at the Stendhal with no problem. The staff was courteous and helpful with maps and directions. The breakfast/bar area was great and the bartender a treat. On-site internet access was greatly appreciated. Crisply ironed fresh sheets each night was a bonus. Loved our stay and would definitely return. Have already suggested the hotel to friends who are travelling in Italy this summer. Hats off to the Stendhal.

We stayed here just one night, arriving late and leaving early for our flight home. However the check-in service was great, easy to get a cab to the airport, and there is a convenient little store across the street for drinks or snacks.

Very little nice hotel. The breakfast service is very good. The situation is perfect. To be recommended. However, our room was a bit too small. Anyway it was a pleasure to stay in the hotel.

Avoid this hotel. Unless you're a fan of greed & incompetence. Arrived to find the hotel overbooked so no room. Shown to distinctly inferior hotel & the Stendhal had passed on message that I wanted a single, not the double room I'd requested.

Clean, warm and comfortable though a littler smaller than expected. Deluxe room was fine but smaller than that of English hotels of the same rating. Position was central but Via Tritone is a bit run down and the hotel is further away from Via Corso than it appears to be on the map. Good range of restaurants nearby. Staff excellent, very helpful and cheerful.

We liked this hotel very much. We chose it for the location and price, and were very happy with the accommodations. Our only complaint is the check-in time: after an overnight flight and a few hours collecting baggage and transferring to the hotel, it would be nice to be able to check in immediately, and not 3 hours after getting to the hotel.

This hotel was a bit expensive, although it was small, it was of a very high standard. Service was excellent, well stocked bar and good breakfasts. Although our room was at the front, facing onto the main road it was very quiet. Very good location for those who like to walk everywhere but public transport right outside. We had some difficulty in finding the hotel as the map was a bit confusing and the road changes name for a short stretch.

We enjoyed our stay here. Our only problem was a mix up with bookings when the hotel charged us for a no show and all we had done was rebook for a longer time and not cancel our first booking. They were not very helpful about a refund.

The location of the hotel is excellent, as well as its decoration and cleanliness. Public rooms are very limited. Breakfast room is only public room and also acts as lounge, bar etc. If you have to wait downstairs in the morning, you sit among people having their breakfast. We booked a trip and should leave early. As no breakfast kit was possible we were advised to have a very early breakfast, actually before official opening hours. However, although servant was providing all tables with bread, he refused to serve us and the man appeared to be very annoyed with us, although we explained why we were there so early. Also reception did not book our airport shuttle. When we found out they did not, it was almost too late to get that shuttle. We were not pleased with service at all.

Insgesamt empfehlenswert

Hotel lived up to all pictures and write-ups. But the front desk staff left something to be desired. There was a strike the day we checked in, which I understand couldn't be helped. But we didn't receive the type of room with type of bed we had reserved (2 out of 5 rooms), had to wait quite a bit until the rooms were ready. Also, the group wanted a pizza and pasta restaurant close to the hotel one night. The front desk clerk first told me there are no restaurants that serve both, it's either one or the other. He then sent us to a restaurant that made "excellent pizza". It turned out to be almost to the Piazza del Popolo, and they didn't have pizza at all. We turned around and found a place two blocks from the hotel that had both pizza and pasta, was beautiful, and the food was delicious. That is not the kind of service I am used to. Also, the hotel took our money for the airport taxis they arranged, but couldn't provide receipts for taking the money. It was up to us to get our own receipts with the taxi driver on the day we left. So, the hotel was a terrific experience, except for the front desk staff.

After reviewing the website, looking at the pictures provided by the website and getting my bearings for the hotel and its surroundings based on the map provided, i had a good feeling about where i was choosing to vacation at. I had no idea that those expectations were going to exceed above and beyond what i anticipated. From the moment i walked in i was treated graciously and with much respect. The hotel provided a beautiful and calming atmosphere. It was centrally located to all that you want to see. From fountains, temples, museums, restaurants and the shopping district. A few blocks this way, a few blocks that way and you were there. The rooms were tastefully designed and decorated. Being from California i wasnt expecting the rooms to be so space conscious. But hey, im used to huge suites in Vegas. They provided a great breakfast every morning. The hotel was spotless, very clean at all times. Overall, i highly recommend the Stendhal Hotel. When i return to Rome i will definitly choose to stay at the Stendhal Hotel again.

When we first arrived at the hotel we were a bit concerned. The building next door appeared vacant and had grafitti on the windows. However, once inside the hotel, everything changed. The staff was as good as any we've experienced. Breakfast was terrific. And the rooms were excellent. The hotel is very well located for walking to all the sites of interest. We would choose the Stendahl again on any future trip to Rome

Great hotel! Staff was attentive to every need, especially Roberto! Good breakfast, located centrally and close to many attractions and modes of transport. Rooms a little small, but I understand that is Rome. A big, and positve, change from the other larger 4 star hotels. Price was great. All in all I would not hesitate to come back again or to recommend the hotel - they helped to make our family stay in Rome all that more special. - thanks
