The positives; - cheap - location well connected by Metro - exceptionally clean place - tv with good (non-crap) channels - as long as you understand Italian. Nice 32 inch flat screen. - personnel was helpful - after check out you can leave luggage in a safe place until it's time for you to leave - the free internet point The negatives; - breakfast was very limited - late check out not allowed - Despite being helpful, personnel were arguably not that friendly - the hotel itself does not have a restaurant. Few good quality restaurants close by - noisy - No double glazed glass, no sound insulation. You can hear people walking, talking, TVs, maids, furniture moving, people going down the stairs, and finally drilling

Excellent stay, we loved being so close to the termini. Breakfast room was clean and the food choice was very nice, excellent coffee! Our room was very clean and quite spacious. The staff was kind and their English was very good. Would have loved to have Wi-Fi, had to go to the office to use computer. They have a lift which after a long day of walking was very welcome. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and would stay there again. Oh yes, the location is a little difficult to find and the TI at the termini was unfriendly and not at all helpful, we were better off asking for help from people on the street. We had a wonderful stay.

We in fact used this hotel twice during this trip and was given very spacious room to stay on both occasions. To find the hotel was not as easy as I thought and map provided on web was not clear enough. Quite a bit of walk from Termini and rough if dragging heavy bags. Breakfast well organized but rolls were a bit hard and end up only able to take coffee and corn flakes. Hope it can be improved. Reception was OK though not particularly helpful when asking for directions and transports. Would be nice if Wifi is available and satelite channels too. I thought we may use AE to settle but no, only VISAs, end up paying cash instead. Overall good experience at this hotel mainly good rooms and will stay again next time.

I looked at reviews of this hotel before choosing. In hindsight I find them disproportionately negative - sadly I think people are more inclined to complain about bad experience rather than a pleasant experience, The continental breakfast was wide ranging perfectly adequate. Noise from doors and locks from other rooms did travel, but we did not suffer from disturbances too early/late. Generally very clean and spacious. Hair dryer was a bit weak, telly plug required a bit of "giggling" to get going. We recommend Ristorante La Famiglia - good quality and reasonably priced 4€ for half liter of wine and accept credit card (many others do not).

The hotel is good only for short stays, to sleep and take a shower and be gone the whole day. The hotel's sound insulation is extremely poor. You could hear the conversation from the hallway and the room next door. Staffs were pleasant, and helpful. They will allow you to print your boarding pass. No wireless internet access anywhere in the hotel including public areas. Our room was small, enough for a double bed and place for our luggage and a single night stand. Bathroom drain was slow, toilet was hard to flush. You have to flush it a certain way to work. the only outlet that you could plug your phone is the bathroom's. If you are extremely tired after the day's excursion, you'll be able to sleep.

When checking in we were rudely told even though there's only 2 of you, you will be charge for 3 as your room stated, also there's a 4 euros per day fee to be paid cash at the the end of your stay for tax purposes "Hello...where's the hospitality with the welcome to Rome"? The bed was very unfortable, like sleeping on a piece of plywood. The room overall was clean with the exception of leaving dirty cups, utensils. The 2nd. day I went to the front desk to complain, after that the dishes and utensils were cleaned daily. Our room was next to the breakfast room on the 2nd. floor and very noisey first thing in the morning. Never had a good nights sleep during our whole time there. Never once were we asked how everything was. The hotel was rated 3 stars, I would give it a 2 star rating only because I've neveer seen a 1. Breakfast was very basic, cold cereal, buns, croissants, coffe but fresh daily.

What i like about the hotel is the location its very good close to the terminal station very accessible. The breakfast was very bad! only bread, butter plus unlimited coffee. I think you should atleast change your menu not everyday you will offer your guest the same breakfast I stayed in the hotel for 4 days. Also, there is no available electrical socket to charge phone and camera. And the towel in the toilet was very bad quality!

Unfortunately, there were some publics works in the street just down our window which was a bit thin so that since 7:30 am in the morning it was not possible ti sleep. Otherwise, the hotel is quite nice, and for me and my boyfriend, the breakfast was enough (orange juice, coffe/tea, croissant, bread, cereals,..)

Hotel Stella had friendly staff, very helpful and accommodating. The room I got was small, with a twin bed, but I was traveling alone and it is not a big deal, it is expected since Europe has older buildings. Therefore, I don't have any complains, they offered European continental breakfast which is always helpful. I would stay here again and it is walking distance to the train station.

Especially nice being so close to Temini with a short three to four block walk to Stella. Perfect location because we were able to travel from both airports to Rome and to Civitecchia port for our cruise. You can catch a cab or bus right out the Termini if walking is not for you and get to the hotel in less than five minutes. We stayed two nights before our cruise and were able to get on a bus one block from the hotel to visit all the attractions in Rome and the Vatican City. Fabulous bus system which doesn't get crowded until the end of the night when everyone is going back to their homes or hotel rooms. Buses stop at all the attractions, run very regulary at ten to fifteen minute intervals, and if you have to wait a few minutes for the next bus, there are local shops at the stops where you can buy souvenirs or grab a quick snack, piece of pizza, or cold drink. The trick is to read your bus signs to make sure you get on the right bus. Should you get lost, not to worry, you can get off one bus anywhere along its route and board another using the same ticket. Tickets are good for fours hours and can be purchased for only a few euros at the Termini or local businesses on the street near the bus stops, like grocery stores or bakeries-just ask. Buses goint to Termini will get you to Stella from anywhere in the city and run more frequently then others. If you have the time, you can also travel out of Rome into the countryside or surrounding towns and cities. Stella had friendly front desk service, provided helpful information when asked, gaving us a map of bus and train lines along with location of the attractions, which made it very easy for site-seeing. More fresh fruit at breakfast would have been nice, but continental breakfast service was very nice and the wait staff friendly. When we checked out, we were able to store our luggage for a few hours in a locked room adjacent to the front desk and sight see until it was time for our train for the port city.

Hotel Stella is in a good location, with easy access to the main train station (Termini) and 15-20 minutes walking distance, or short cab ride, to the major tourist sites. Our group had 3 rooms (6 adults, 3 children) and all rooms were clean and modern with very good air conditioning. There was very little street noise through the night from cars or pedestrians. The downsides, which were relatively minor, were small bathrooms, with very small showers. And, as guests and staff start to move about in the morning (5AM onward), the related noises (talking, doors opening/closing, etc) were a bit loud. Light sleepers should therefore wear earplugs or plan to be awake early. There have been lots of negative comments written about the breakfast served but I think this criticism is overblown. The included breakfast is basic - coffee, cereals, croissant, yogurt - but is not horrible and can get you off to a reasonable start. Overall, for our group the Hotel Stella was very good value, providing us with a comfortable and convenient place to stay at a very good rate (for Rome). You can easily pay double Stella's rate and not end up with a better place.

Breakfast is VERY poor: coffee is done with a big the machine (no real italian nice coffee), no ham and no eggs, just some croissants, bread, cornflakes. youghurt didn't look very fresh. and if you leave before 7.30, you forget your (payed) breakfast. This apart, the rooms are very nice and the location very confortable if you have to leave from the station.

The Stella was more of a prison block than a hotel, and the officers where not all that friendly. The lifts resembled something out of a Federico Fellini movie, and the breakfast had to be missed. I was happy to escape. Next time I think I will try the Arte Hotel further down the strada.

The breakfast was horrible, we actually did not take it the next day. Such a breakfast is not at all suitable for 85 euros/night!!! The reception blond lady (the morning shift lady) was terribly incompetent; she kept us 30 minutes in the office just for check-in and was very unfriendly. At the check-out we almost missed our train because she was too slow to finish the check-out procedure and created a long waiting line outside her office. We will never choose this hotel anymore! Only the room was clean and ok, otherwise we will never be back to that hotel.

We stayed twice at the Stella - 2 nights on arrival in Rome and 2 nights on our way home. First stay: the room was small but had AC. Second stay: we were assigned a large room but with no AC and the temps were in the 90s. When we asked for a room with AC, we were told none were available but Signor Flavio at reception found us another hotel and booked us in at the Stella's rates for the night. The Stella is a fine hotel for the price. Breakfast is skimpy, but the staff is polite, helpful and all speak good English. The location is great as it's only a 5 minute walk from Termini station. I would certainly stay again but would remember to request AC when I made the booking.

Very convenient if you arrive by train (or bus from Ciampino airport). Taxi to and from the city centre is not expensive (5 to 10 €). Only the male receptionist is friendly and helpful, but we didn't bother. Bathroom is VERY clean. Poor breakfast - we decided to have breakfast elsewhere. The hotel is just okay if you don't expect too much and use your room just to sleep. It is still relatively expensive, but...this is Rome. Bottom line: I think I would recommend it.

Hotel Stella is a good hotel, if you need to stay near Termini. There is no lobby; the hotel is situated on several floors of an office/apt building. The only negative was that the little elevator was broken when I arrived, and I had to carry my heavy bag up to the 4th floor. The reception did keep my other bag in their storage so I did not have to carry it, too. The female manager on duty said that when the night manager came on at 11 pm, he was a strong young man who could carry my bag upstairs, but I did not want to wait until then to get settled. She said the elevator broke down frequently because too many guests crowded into it with their baggage, inspite of warning signs that had been posted. If the elevator had been working, my stay would have been quite good. The room and location are good for the price, though hallway and neighboring room noises are heard; the double-paned windows keep the street noises out. The reception will recommend the nearby trattoria La Famiglia, if you ask. It's okay, but just okay, hhowever, there are not many options in that neighborhood. Unfortunately, it seems the hotel cannot ever guarantee that the elevator will be working, so if that's a prerequisite for you, best to try another, more modern hotel.

Excellent location close to the main train station and subway. We were in a corner room on the street corner, so we had a lot of noise from cars gearing down and then up again. We also had noise from groups hanging out on the street. From reading other reviews, we had requested a room far away from the bar for this reason...we don't think it was a bar but it was noise. Also, they gave us a room right on the corner and I booked two months in advance so I am assuming there were no other quad rooms available. We were on the second floor near the breakfast room. The walls were soundproof, the loud noise came from the hall, doors banging and the street. We would definitely stay here again, the location was amazing for us. The room was spacious and clean, especially for four people. The reception staff were very helpful.

General impression is excellent. All employees met during our stay were 100% efficient. Welcome at reception was quick and perfect from the administrative point of view, though regretfully just a bit cold. Treatment at departure was much warmer. As to the location clues in your maps may we suggest that a clear indication about the hotel being situated exactly at the crossing of Via Gaeta and Castelfidardo would prove most helpful. Hotel Stella meets perfectly our standard in all respects. Also, there is a most cute restaurant in the neighbourhood: La Famiglia (in Via Gaeta). It is the perfect combination between a restaurant and a buffet. Price/performance ratio is also excellent and they have a wonderful Lambrusco amabile! As promised when leaving the hotel, we plan to stay there again whenever we go back to Rome. Congratulations!

The only thing that can be improved is the breakfast...very poor...There is a Trattoria very near ( Via Gaeta) called La Famiglia where you can have a fantastic dinner for an excellent prize. It´s full at any time you go but after waiting for 3 or 5 minutes you can seat and have dinner. If I had to travel back to Rome, I´ll probably return to this hotel.

The room smelt cigarette so it was not confortable. The remote control of the heating was not provided, so i had cold during the night. well located, ratio price/room excellent (i paid 40e). a shame that no WLAN in a 3 stars hotel.

This is a budget hotel, recently decorated, where everything works. Warm in a week when Rome saw snow! Continental breakfast quite acceptable for the price, clean linen and towels, friendly and welcoming staff. Far enough away from Termini to be quiet.

The hotel is really near to the Termini train station, and has a quality to price ratio that is very high. I have a "the hotel is where I sleep" approach, so i'm not looking for many comforts in the hotel, but everything needed was there, functioning. The quality of the bed is, for my standard, exceptional, never slept better in an hotel.

I rarely take time to comment but this time it is important to warn you! This hotel is awful. Why? My showers were always cold, in freezing temperatures outside the heating wasn't on,the walls are extremely thin and so it feels like the people in the room next door are in my room, the TV didn't work, the breakfast is very basic and there was only just enough toilet paper. Don't stay at the Hotel Stella!

- the room was rather big(they acutally gave us a triple, though we had booked a double). the room was clean, but the bed covers looked rather old, and not so clean. - What I really didn't like were the towels, which were very thin, resembling a table cloth. And the fact that we had to wait for 10 or more minutes for the water to get warm. - the shower cabin was really small. - the room smelled bad when we first entered. - good location, quiet neighborhood - breakfast was tasty, but poor. (only a croissant, toast, butter, jam, coffee/tea) - Overall I enjoyed my stay, but I think we could have found something better, for the same price.

This is a good place to stay. Quiet, convenient, clean, and good service. If you are new to Rome you might be dissapointed with the size of the shower recess and the Breakfast. Get used to this, because it's slightly better than you will get anywhere else for the same money. I chatted with one of the long term residents at breakfast time and one thing led to another and I was taken on a great tour of Rome's nighspots. Grazie mille Laura. Double plus. Saw many families here with children, all languages spoken, all quiet and neat.

Great location. A very nice room. A real bargain. Close to the main train Station, but still on a quiet street. We will return to this hotel.

The location of the hotel is good. It's take 5 minutes to walk to the Termini Station and easy to get to all the famous place by metro. The furniture in the room is old, and the shower room is very, very small.

I had stayed a single room for 10 days in December. There were enough things that I needed in the room. It was simple, but very clean and comfortable. They cleaned my room everyday. I can recommend this hotel to my friends. If I visit Rome again, I'll chose this hotel. But there are some bad things. (1)I could hear clearly the voice of next room. (2)It was very hard to flash the toilet.

Stella's location is perfect - few mins walk to Termini. Pzza Indipendenza 200mtrs walk has 75 bus to P. Portese Market also buses for Tibertina Station.Hotel is excellent value for money - our room was quite spacious, very clean and bright -we even had a sofa and a safe. The staff were very helpful.Great value for money - will certainly stay here when we return to Rome.

I realy enjoyed my time in Rome as the city has a lot to offer with its history, Hotel Stella was an ideal choice for us as it was in a mostly quiet location within easy reach of the main termini station. The only fault was the breakfast was dissapointiog but it sufficed.

Stella Hotel was a very pleasant hotel and in a good location for my needs. The close location to Termini and the convenience of the city, tour buses and trains also made it a good choice. Clean, safe neighborhood and good nearby restaurants all contributed to a nice stay. As stated in other comments the room and the shower stall are small, but the room was the cleanest I have ever had in any hotel. There is no lobby in this hotel, but the staff store bags until departure. They are very vigilant to monitor the baggage carefully. I would stay at Stella again.

I am a single male traveler, and I used Hotel Stella for a quick stopover for one night in Rome on my way to Siena. Convenient location, and for the price I paid (65 euro) it was a great value. No complaints. Thanks to the employee who was up at the crack of dawn so I could check out and catch my train!

On this trip, my wife and I visited a number of cities in Italy as well as other cities in Europe. In the aggregate, we spent 10 days in Rome, on several occasions. The first time was for 5 days, in another hotel. While both hotels were excellent vaslue for the money, hotel Stella is in a better location for approximately the same price

Nice size rooms. Not too close and not too far from the main train station. Lots of restaurant choices in the area. Walking to/from the train station with luggage was a little difficult, but without luggage it was just fine. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Overall, nice hotel, I would probably stay there again.

We had previously visited this hotel a couple of times and found it very good. However, this time there had been opened a new pub in the neighbourhood with loud music late in the night and noisy groups of young people chatting in the street. The quietness of the room was gone. Next time we'll take another hotel.

I stayed in Stella for 6 days. It was almost good, but a bit noisy in the night time. There is a bar at the first floor. If you stay in the Stella hotel, please ask a room that is far from the bar.

We were a family with two children staying at a quadruple room. Breakfast was ok: rolls, musli, croissants and coffee/tea. Nothing special, but good relationship quality vs price to be in Rome. Location close to termini station was also good for us. I would not mind staying at Stella again.

It was a really nice little place to stay at Rome, easy to move from there anywhere, only thing the elevator worked only with 2 persons for ride, if not it got blocked, so often we took the stairs... but everything else was really good!

Around 10 minutes walking from Termini station, good location, nice & clean room, $7 euros extra per night if you want the AC (in summer is a must), do not worry about chosing Stella, is a great option.
