This was the perfect hotel to walk to everything in Rome. We were going on a cruise and had only two days in Rome, so this was the perfect hotel to quickly get to and see the sites. The staff was friendly and helpful. They let us stow our luggage in the office before check-in because of our early arrival. We would use this hotel again.

Nice hotel. A bit better than I expected. Close to city center and Vatikan State. Would I recommend it to other - Yes. The elevator is small.

Welcome letter following registration in advance was a perfect idea. Unfortunately service in the hotel didn't quite match expectations associated with that letter. Location was great. Room was clean. Breakfast was OK. There was a lack of public space.

Walls between rooms are thin. Otherwise, this hotel is excellent value, and far exceeded our expectations. The location is excellent, within walking distance of many historical sites. We would stay at this hotel again on a future visit to Rome.

very very nice people in the reception always ready to help you, very good breakfast and rooms very clean. We stayed in a very small room with a very small bathroom and it's been the only thing we didn't like, but if you visit Rome you will be always aout of the room and it won't be a problem.. The hetl has an excellent position and it's very near to bus.. but with a 10 minutes walk you're straight in piazza navona!! the price is not so low but folks, we're in the center of rome...

The staff is friendly, and the price/location combo is hard to beat in Rome. The shower was a little cramped, but you can't have everything. Actually, you can have everything, you just have to pay more for it.

this hotel is a fantastic location for walking everywhere in Rome, staff very friendly, only downside shower was tiny and next door were talking 'til 1.30am walls very thin!!!also star rating in italy is not like other european countries this was more 2* than 3* but saying this i would definately go back and recommend to a friend as the location was brill!!

nice, clean, simple hotel, staff were some of the nicest, most helpful people i've ever met in a hotel, when we checked in we were given a map and he showed us where all the attractions were in rome, and they all spoke excellent english (much better than me at 2.00 am) the only slight grumble is that the hotel is hidden inside another building, so was difficult to find at first, but this did not spoil what was a great little hotel

I have stayed at Hotel Sant Angelo before, and in my opinion the quality has gone down. However there is a restaurant called Vitos two minutes walk from the hotel, which has excellent food and good service. Very friendly staff.
Italy, Nov 2007
The breakfast area is a bit small, and is shared with Reception. The rooms are basically furnished, but are spacious and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful in providing extra pillows, etc, and in helping with maps and directions. The area was pleasant, and very convenient for the area of Rome we wanted to see. Overall it was good value for money.

Rome is wonderful! This hotel is just outside the busy area. We were in walking distance to everything, the Vatican, the Colosseum, Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, everything! The restaurants are great if you can get out of the touristy areas, go down some small streets and you will have great restaurants, better prices and usually live music! Our hotel was pleasant and clean.

The staff at Hotel Sant'Angelo was EXCELLENT! Most especially Mauro, who went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay wonderful. The house keeping staff was so thoughtful about how they made up the room - it showed pride and alot of care. I would definitely stay at the hotel again! It's quiet, extremely clean, and the location is fabulous.

The high price of 185 € per night in a double room including breakfast might be plantable in front of the fact that we stood during Easter in Rome. Therefore the demand for hotel rooms must have been very high, as well as the prices. The endowment of the hotel though is average middle class. The breakfast is not as goog as home:-) Nevertheless each one of the hotel staff we met was very friendly and obliging. At last we felt comfortable and save.

I am sorry to report this hotel so low. A male clerk was so rude to us when we would not let him keep our passports for the afternoon. The room was shabby and mattress poor. They were even minimal with toilet paper, and our toilet sprayed water when flushed. The walls were thin and thus, a noisy room, and I can't say anyone on staff, except one girl, was friendly. The breakfast was tasty, but the servers were not friendly.I loved the building that housed the hotel and the location was excellent. I would not stay here again, though. Also, the hotel driver who took us to the airport went almost 100mph and dropped us at the wrong door at 4:30AM.

We had a lovely stay and were so impressed with the welcome we recieved at the desk. There was a different receptionist each day yet each time we were addressed in perfect English and more importantly, made to feel welcome and given excellent advice. The room was comefortable although our neighbours were a bit loud - hardly the fault of the hotel! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Hotel location was great for walking to ancient Roman sites as well as the Vatican, but quiet at night for sleeping. The hotel staff was friendly and all spoke English well. The transfer arrangements from the airport were flawless.( Do not drive in Rome!!!!) We had a great meal around the corner from the hotel at Ristorante La Piccola. Their antipasta is a steal at 5 euros and the best we had during our whole 2 week trip. A great place for a drink is also right down the street at El Tremendo. We would absolutely stay here again.

We spent 3 1/2 days in Rome. It was the end of our 3 weeks Europe vacation. We enjoyed staying at Sant'Angelo, it was centrally located and we walked to most places except the Colosseum, but the bus was right there. There were some good restaurants close by. The concierges were extremely helpful and spoke very good English, gave es tips on where to go and where to eat, etc. It was great to use the internet for nominal fee and I was even able to print something out... We had a double and a triple room. the rooms were great, of course the triple room ended up to be very crowded because it had an extra bed in it and both rooms were the same size. The shower stall was about 70cm x 70 cm (a little over 2X2ft) which was rather small. The entire bathroom was very small. But other than that we had a great stay. The breakfast was good too, very attentive staff. I can definitly recommend this hotel.
Ireland, Jun 2006
The staff are so pleasant and helpful at this hotel, I really enjoyed staying there. Location wise it is a good 20 minute walk to the subways and good shopping area but this is reflected in the price. There are a few decent restaurants in the local side streets if you dont feel like walking far in the evenings. There was AC in our rooms and even though it played up a little bit we were very comfortable considering the average temp was 36 degrees the week we were there. My son was with us and the staff fussed over him a bit as well. It can be a bit noisy at night if you decide to keep your window open, there is a fair amount of traffic outside but we were there during the world cup and lived to tell the tale! Would stay there again.

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Sant'Angelo. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, it would have been excellent if fresh fruit was included. The room was clean and freshly decorated. The location was ideal, it was quiet which was a real bonus as it was great to get away from the hustle and bustle. We walked to most places, St Peters Square and the Spanish Steps are only a 10 minute walk away! We will definitely return to Sant'Angelo's and would recommend it to anybody, especially if they are on a budget.

Stayed 15 - 19 June with Sister, Mum and three children. Had rooms next door which was a good job as one of the toilets didn't work we reported it twice and were without it for 2 days. Shower tiny. Got early morning call a day late. Was quoted fixed price of 69 euros for return journey from airport to later find this was each way I have emailed hotel and venere.com with these problems to which I have had no reply from either. Other than all that it was a great location we walked to all the big attractions. Although we were ripped off for a meal one night 248 euros for 3 adults and 3 children?

We were upgraded to a "mini suite" at the hotel Angel, at no cost to us. While this inolved walking back to Sant Angelo (approx 50m) for breakfast and internet usage, this was no problem. The room was huge, compared to what we were expecting. It was kept immaculate throughout our stay. The staff were great, providing easy to follow directions to nearby locations. Their English was excellent. The only problem with the staff was an issue with the credit card machine (empty receipt roll) which the girl wasn't able to fix while we were checking out (and in a bit of a hurry) No problem recommending this location to anyone else.

Staff were excellent as was the location, this would be hard to beat, not in the middle of everything so not too busy but also not too far away. Refurbishment work was being carried out when we were there but this did not effect our stay. Breakfast was not so good only a bunch of croissont, some cheese and ham, a bit less than your English equivelent (but weren't in England!). Over all it was OK and we would stay there again so that has to be good. You get what you pay for and we didn't pay top dollar so we didn't expect the Ritz!!

Abbiamo prenotato una doppia superior che a quanto pare è più spaziosa della doppia normale. Ci siamo trovate molto bene, la struttura è in ristruttrazione ma non per questo il servizio è stato compromesso. Upon arrival I learned that our room was not in the Sant'Angelo Hotel but down the street in a hotel called Hotel Angel, I presume owned by the same people. This was a surprise, however. Very nice hotel and well-located. Sometimes taxis found it difficult to find. Dramatic entrance...! Marvelous staff, specially Mauro and Antonio. Our stay at Hotel Sant'Angelo was wonderful. We felt very safe walking on the quiet side of the river and yet were within easy walking distance to all the historic areas of Rome. The breakfasts, though repetitive, were good and plentiful.

The staff made this hotel a real winner. They had plenty of information about the surrounding area and were very friendly. The room itself was very small, but what can you expect in Rome? The outside street was small enough that the traffic noise wasn't terrible, but it could get noisy at times. Within a moderate walk of the Vatican, Spanish Steps, etc. It's a bit of a hike from the nearest subway stop (especially with baggage).

If the rooms were as nice as the staff this would be a 5 star hotel!! The rooms while not spacious were adequate in size, however they had peeling paint and wallpaper. The airconditioner worked well. The shower was the smallest thing I had ever seen!! My wife and I had to leave the door open part way to shower stall so we could move! The staff was great!! Friendly and helpful. Always a smile on their faces. We reserved a "double superior" room but I'm not sure that is what we got. We were accommodated in The Angel Hotel (about 50m along the same street)on the 4th floor. The bedroom and en-suite were excellent, having been done up about 3/4 months previously - the furnishings were new, the air conditioning was quiet and effective and the layout of the room, with the bed on a mezzanine level, made very good use of space. Breakfast was served in the Sant' Angelo Hotel which looks as if it now needs some upgrading. The breakfast was adequate but the breakfast room itself was on the shabby side. The hotel is located in a quiet street only 10 minutes from Piazza Navona and 10/15 minutes from St Peter's. Our main problem was that we had ordered a pick-up from Ciampino Airport which failed to turn up leaving us stranded there for an hour and a half before we were able to catch a taxi - however, the hotel refunded the extra cost at the end of our stay as it was their fault. We would definitely book this hotel again - especially if we could reserve a room on the 4th floor of The Angel Hotel building.

In questa situazione, abbiamo sentito la mancanza di un bar nell'albergo (bevande calde). In oltre, a durante 7 giorni di permanenza, la nostra camera è stata pulita 2 volte. this is our second visit to the Sant'Angelo, nothing much changed from our review of a year ago. For those who are looking for "charm", it's important to note the rooms are functional (comfortable beds, clean, adequate size and furnishings), and bathrooms vary in size (our shower stall was the smallest we've ever seen). We were in a third floor room, which meant a fair amount of climbing up and down stairs, so asking for a first floor room might be a good idea. We were even more impressed with the hotel's great location, on the vatican side of the tiber, but convenient for everything in the centro storico, as well as to bus lines. we will stay there again.

The staff at this property went out of their way to make me feel welcomed, relaxed, and able to travel within their city on my own. (even a cup of tea when the breafast room was closed). Andrea, especially was great. She has spent a year in USA and truly tried to make my breakfast and bus trips enjoyable. Eric and the rest of the staff were SO disarmingly charming. I truly look forward to my next visit---and hope it is SOON!! This was my first trip to Rome--waited 33 yrs to do so---but WELL worth the wait! Between the staff and the GREAT shops nearby (including a market-man who gave me a can opener to open my beer with when I got back to hotel)--well this trip was ANGEL-prepared--at the Sant'Angelo!

The front desk personnel are very good at this hotel - enthusiastic with excellent language skills. The breakfast provided is above average. The location is very good with easy walking to the Vatican,Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Spanish Steps and Piazza Del Popolo. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms marble. The negatives are the walls are very thin - you can hear the people in the next room turn on the lights! Two of the five mornings we woke up to no hot water which we think is due to the fact that the hotel was at capacity and the boiler isn't large enough but they will have the maintanence man check. The bathrooms are well appointed but extremely small. We have stayed throughout Europe and would rate the shower in our room as the smallest yet but it worked when the water was hot. Overall the positives outweigh the negatives at this hotel making it a fairly good value.

We are satisfied with the hotel standard, only wish for better blankets, preferably duvets, and softer pillows, and better heating, also of library, which was dark and cold.

We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Sant'Angelo. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so welcoming. The breakfasts were excellent and the rooms were very clean, although the location of our room meant it was noisy, particularly if the window was open. However, overall we had a wonderful time and would certainly return to that hotel.

Lovely hotel withing walking distance of both the Vatican & central Rome. Friendly & helpful staff. Good value for the money.

Quietness of the rooms: it was quite easy to hear what our room neighbours were talking. No problems though with the street noise (which we barely noticed). Price/quality: We think the price was rather high, but I suppose that's Rome. Anyway, we knew the price beforehand, so... this is not actually a complain.

staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. they really helped us get around Rome on the bus-line to see sights, even detailing transfer information and specific # of stops. we stayed in October, which was cool at night, so we can't fully comment on the efficacy of the air conditioning. however, windows sealed well, and fan was loud, so the noisy streets below weren't a huge problem for sleep! Yes, we would return to this hotel when in Rome again (and, in fact,we already have). We give it a very positive rating.

This hotel is very good. We had a good time here. The people in the reception was very helpful. Noisy garbagecollectors on the streets outside the hotel at night.

We were very happy with the location of the hotel and its accessibility by foot to the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona areas as well as the Vatican. We didn't actually stay at the Sant' Angelo however as we were placed down the road at the Angel - a bit inconvenient however the rooms there have just been renovated and as such were very clean and pleasant. Staff was helpful as well.

The room was actually relatively clean and comfortable. The problem was that we were moved to the sister property down the street which had rooms that didn't look nearly as nice or large as the rooms in the main hotel. I guess when you get a room for under $170 in Rome, don't expect much.
