The hotel is very bad! The only good point is the location. The hotel froze money in my credit card about 10 days before my check-in day. And then the hotel required me to pay the moeny of all days when I checked in. I said I can pay each day, but it was refused. It does not make sense to freeze credit card and also pay all money at the first day at same time. The service person at first day is very impolite. The second day is better. The furnitures in the room are all very old except the bed. The remote controller of TV does not work also. My room(No. 9) is close to street. So it was very noisy at night. It is bad memory in Rome and in the whole 20 days travelling. I will never go back to this hotel again.

A word of appreciation for the team of Venere! Everything worked out well, I am glad we used your website to make reservations. However, I secretly wished there was a better ratio price/quality or discount at the end: for example, for the elevator not working (and my spouse really needed it) or a pipe that broke early morning, so we couldn't take a shower on top of being woken up very early morning. We didn't even get a word of apology.

It was a spacious room. The only problem I have with the hotel is that the elevator does not go to all floors. I would also suggest a coffee maker in the room. I can also say that it was hot in Italy & the room did not get hot or stuffy, being that it did not have an air conditioner. The room was very clean. The clerk was very nice & helpful

This was our first time in Rome however the beds had mites in them which bit us. So we asked for room change where the situation was just barely better. So my advise is to check the bed before you accept the room. Location is nothing short of brilliant as less than 5 minutes from train station and 5-7 minutes to Termini! We assumed that the room would be air-conditioned however we missed that point in the room details :-(

location was excellent- very close to a metro stop and a clean, comfortable room. The bathroom however was always wet from the dripping shower which even dripped on you while you used the toilet. The toilet also ran water for over an hour after you flushed it- noisy at night. Probably the poorest service I have ever come across from the man on reception. He was rude, grumpy and disinterested and was never there (not a problem unless you actually needed him to pay so you could get your passport back) Reception was always dark and deserted. We have had much better rooms for less than E85.00

The stay was pleasant, room spaceous, clean. With respect to the accomodation price in Roma, hotel Sandra met the expected quality. Using the elevator is tricky, does not work from the first floor. The only thing which we found missing were the lamps at the beds, which we, however, do not consider important.

difference between service in france for that service and that italian one. Happily the guest chnaged our room after 2 days for a quieter one. First one was without window shutting, Warm water when you want cold one. Lot of noise from the sreet. After the second romm was quieter, and window could shut. Breakfast was always with sour butter.. and bread never fresh (but seems to be very italian , that).

They didn't tell in the webpage that they were going to charge part of the price before going there. We had to pay the full price at the hotel and they told us the quantity we had been charged in advance would be refunded a month later. I think they should inform about that.

On the pricey side, but it seems that everything in Rome is pricey. I stayed with my brother and they gave us a family room because we asked for a quiet room and it was the only one available. The place was good enough to sleep, sufficient for our needs. It was extraordinarly hot when we were there though, and there is no air-conditioning so it got really hot - so avoid in Summer.

the hotel is well located close to Roma Termini (central train station). Surrounding may not be outstanding but you are well connected to the whole city and attraction points. Unfortunately service is poor. there is no one at the reception, english is poorly spoken. It´s a 3rd floor without elevator (care if carrying heavy luggage). Owner are no helpful with newcomers... I would rather pay 15 euros more to have better service options in the area.

Cheap and cheerful, basic but clean. Lift an experience! Does not stop on 3rd floor where hotel is situated, have to walk down from 4th floor. Locked to hotel on ground floor have to walk up to 1st floor to access. Added to novelty!Easy-going fit middle-aged on a budget couples

Hotel Sandra is a very budget accomodation. 3rd Floor of a building and no lift for public. The reception is not manned and they will come to see you whenyou ring the bell. The room was basic with shower in corner and no toilet. the toilet was shared. The location of the hotel is ideal though, just 5-10 mins walk from Termini and many bars and restaurants around. the Metro is also near by. Although I wouln't stay here again as a couple I would recommend it as a single traveller just after basic digs

Very good location - near Termini Station - close to any piazza and historical place (15-30 minutes of walking) and metro just at the corner - 5 stops to Vatican. This is a big apartment divided to rooms with bad, table, closet, TV, sink and shower cabin. The toilet at the end of the corridor. It is on the 3th floor! Definitely not a best place to stay in Roma, but if you are a budget traveler and only looking for a place to sleep and go on with your trip - go for it.

Great, no frills place to stay. A step up from a hostle for sure. My only complaint is that it says continental breakfest is served here when really it was nowhere to be found. Really great building with alot of character. The area around the train station can be seedy, but this hotel is in a particularly non-seedy area. Also very convieniently located next to a metro stop.

We had a great stay at the Sandra. Staff were helpful. The room was clean and whilst the shower was small everything in the room worked fine. We nicknamed the shower the "cone of silence". Toilet facilities were just down the hall, were well kept and vacant when we needed them. The hotel is situated 1 train stop or a 10 minute walk from Termini, has a supermarket nearby and enough well priced Trattoria around to eat well and cheaply. Overall we felt very comfortable here.

HOTEL WITH BEDBUGS! Room behind the reception case. Unfortunately we got BEDBUGS on this hotel! Price and location are good for Rome. The hotel is correct but must disinfect their rooms. We had punctures since the first day but we thought "mosquitos" and getting back to home they continue!!! Finally we found those insects in home (suitcases, bed, sofa...). It's (very) hard to get them out so take care!

There is not a Hotel, only appartments on the 3rd floor (the name in Italian could be translated as "refuge, asylum, shelter", but not a Hotel). On the ground floor is a workshop for motorcycles. At 7:00 the workman begins to test the motors on the high engine speed (occasionaly without exhaust damper). One hears the noise at Forum. There is no elevator available for the 3rd floor. There is no service available, because there are no employees of the asylym. The only positive feature is the convinient location not far from metro and central railway station. The price of 95€ for one tiny room (9 m^2) with shower inside the room is definitely too high.

This hotel was just OK. The bathroom for our room was far down the hall. Our room (#10 I think) was directly behind the check in desk. I mean to say that, when you check-in, there is a door behind the desk with a number 10 on it. That was our room. It wasn't too noisy, but we got up early didn't stay too long in the hotel. The neighbourhood is alright, but it's in Trainstationville near Termini which is an Ok neighbourhood but not great. The hotel was reasonably clean. The shower was pretty good. There was a faint smell of sewage coming from the pipes. Not sure if that was from outside (like the stink in the lane) or from the buildings pipes. This hotel was just OK. I would not recommend it for anything more than staying one night because it's near the train station. Rome hotels are expensive, but for a few bucks more you can find something nicer.

I don't know about the other rooms but ours was big with a queen size bed, very firm and comfortable. A quirky place, maybe not for everyone (TWO sofas were crammed in with us!)but I like that it was clean, inexpensive and I felt safe. Plenty of hot water tho I overheard another guest complain about that. If you're a little bit adventurous (why else are you in Rome?)then you will be happy. And there's a great restaurant one street over. I'd stay there again

The hotel is located on the 3rd floor of normal house, therefore you have to look up to see the sign. The elevator is locked and only usable for the inhabitants of the house. The location is perfect to reach all sights by foot and the room was very clean. For those, who would like to stay very central (10 min by foot to TERMINI- station)for a reasonable price it is the absolutely perfect place to stay.

Just like described. The owner has to open the door to let you in. There is one major issue: Payment. Venere's information that you will not pay before arriving is incorrect. The cancellation fee was drawn from my account two weeks prior to the stay. Despite this, the hotel wanted full payment in cash at checkout. I'm still waiting for the money drawn from my account to be returned. I will probably have to ask my credit card issuer to contact Venere.

We found the room a little bit expensive in comparison with the hotel category. The lift is present in the building but not available for guests. It's quite inconvenient because the hotel is located at 3rd floor. The hotel position is good: near to the bus stop and underground, and not so far from the Termini railway station (10 minutes by walking). If you visit Rome for tourism but having a limited budget, near the hotel there are two supermarkets where you can buy something for meals (lunch for instance).

I can say that I found a big difference between what was written in the web site and what was available in reality: no possiblity in choosing between bathroom and shower and the price paid was for a bedroom with bathroom and what we found was just a bedroom with shower, no proper lift (the rooms are at the 3th floor). My suggestion is to improve and update the info that you give using your web site. thanks

Hotel Sandra is only 7 blocks from the Treni Statione (train station) in Rome so it is ideally located. You are in easy access of all trains, subways, buses, and restaurants. However, we did not have a good experience there. The manager reluctantly operated the elevator for us to get our luggage up the 5 floors to the hotel. Our first night, we were not given the room we had reserved- private bath and quiet area. We gave us another room and were given a "free" breakfast that would cost 1/2 Euro- for each person: 1 airy bun, 1 pat of butter, 1 pat of jam, 2 very small soft cheeses, and 1 small pitcher of coffee- served on a tray in our room. The room faced the street and was VERY NOISY- bar below across the street, motorcyclists hanging out, etc. until about 2 in the a.m. We had just arrived and were suffering jet lag and needed sleep.NO air conditioning- just a window with shutters. If you shut the windows, you couldn't breathe in the room! Just wait- it gets worse. On the second day, the manager moved us to the right room that we had reserved, facing a courtyard, private bath- great, but when we came back at 8:30 at night after walking all day around Rome, he had moved us to a front room again facing the noisy street. He would not give us a reduction, or a rebate. Finally, we told him to move the other people out of our room and that he had no right moving our luggage and things without our permission. He wanted that couple to have that room because they were spending 5 nights there and we were there only 1 more night. I guess he wanted to save himself some work. Anyway, the other couple agreed, and we got our proper room. We had a great sleep the second night. There was no soap or shampoo supplied, so bring your own. The towels were of sheeting material so they don't dry you that well. When we left, the manager was not too keen to have us use the elevator, but we just stayed there until he finally operated it. It is a secure place- You have your own key to get in

The cleaning of the room war very well, it was cleaned every day. Which made my personal stay quite uncomfortable was the fact, that the shower had only cold water and the rest of the bathroom as well. As I stayed in Rome in winter, I didn't take showers any more, which made my stay quite unpleasent. In addition to that, the water in toilet ran continously, which could be repaired after two days. The persons at the hotel are very friendly, but the reception is rarely occupied. All in all, mixed feelings stay and I would'nt take the same room again. The location near the train station is very central and good. Maybe I had only bad luck with the rooms, but in general it is not a hotel, which offers communal spaces or other locations than the room for guests.

The Sandra is a small hotel on the fourth floor of a posh apartment building a few blocks north east of the main station. The area it is in seemed pleasant and was full of other hotels (although the restaurants in the area were a pretty uninspiring bunch). Our room had a TV, and a sink and a shower in the corner (the toilet was down the hall). As a result it felt a bit cramped, but on the plus side it was nicely decorated and clean. It definitely seemed above average for a hotel at this price. There was only a little noise from the street when the windows were closed (though in summer that may not be an option). No breakfast is provided (no big loss). Be warned also that no soap is provided! If your Italian is a little rusty, the guy in charge can speak English (more or less). A lift is in operation. It is close to an underground station. The hotel felt safe and secure, but there is no safe for valuables. Credit cards are accepted but with a 5% surcharge, so we chose to pay in cash. Overall it is good value for money.

We wanted an inexpensive hotel in Rome with few frills, and we definitely got it. The bathroom was painfully small. There really wasn't any public area other than a small lobby. The proprietor lives upstairs and has to come down to open the door every time you want to enter the lobby to get to your room. The hotel is three flights up from the ground floor and the elevator is not available for guests of the hotel. My friends had difficulty dragging their lugggage up and down the stairs. The location, close to the railroad station, is excellent, but the street the hotel is on is very dirty and unattractive.

The hotel is good for people who want a budget hotel in central rome , very handy to the metro. breakfast in bed is anice touch although it's still the infamous continental:) Downsides are the small bathrooms with no shower curtain and the 3 flights of stairs with heavy luggage -there is no lift. The owners are pleasant and even gave me a ride to the train staion becasue it was raining. All in all a good spot to stay
