Great location for walking and taking metro although a bit noisy due to outside traffic and no carpet anywhere in interior. Single room was small but adequate for 1 person. Other rooms looked more spacious. Problem with hot water one night and into next morning that I thought night clerk could have been a bit more attentive to but, otherwise, staff very friendly and helpful. Asked for hair dryer & got one only to discover that it wouldn't work in the bathroom due to no GFI outlet. No mirror in the sleeping area so made using hair dryer difficult. Very poor lighting in room but this seemed to be the case in all the hotels I stayed in this trip. Lastly, this hotel was very hard to find coming from the Colisseum metro stop. Largo Corrado Ricci is basically just a sidewalk that runs parallel to the main road and is separated by various cafe tents. Hotel name is only on door which can't be seen from the main street. Took 3 phone calls to same night clerk mentioned above who was not particularly good at giving directions and much walking up and down the surrounding streets before finding it. Again, it was a great location though so would recommend to folks wanting to take in a lot on their visit.

The rooms are simple but spotlessly clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful, providing useful recommendations for restaurants and activities. The hotel is a good place if you plan to spend all your time seeing Rome and only sleeping in the room. The location is excellent for easy access to all the sights of Rome as most are within a pleasant 5 - 20 minute walk.

We had 4 nights in Rome. We had a twin room. Romano was excactly what we were looking for: very central,- close to Forum Romanum, Colloseo etc. Very friendly staff, no extra luxury. Why pay for such extravaganca? We were there to see Rome, not the inside of a hotel. We'll be back!

The room was very small, but nice and clean. Towels were changed daily, there was always hot water and best of all was the location. Couldn't be better. First of all the hotel was extremaly easy to find(even for me and I'm terrible with directions:) and second of all it was close to everything. at the end of the day I could watch some tv and rest on very comfy bed. Highly recommended PS: I'll be back:)

The property was clean and very convenient to all the major attractions, which were within walking distance: Colesseo, Forum, Victor Emanuelle Monument, etc. Also, the Metro was close by. Nice area with many shops by Hotel Romano.

This was really good hotel in a FABULOUS location. The service was very nice, as the front desk helped us find where we need to go. The hotel is located a few block from the Collosseum and the Roman Forum. We were able to walk almost everywhere, except for Vatican City, which we took a bus too. The hotel had a nice size (and extremly comfortable) bed. The bathroom was also a decent size with a great shower. We would recommend the Hotel Romano to anyone going to Rome.

A wonderful small hotel right in the centre of ancient Rome. The staff were very friendly, spoke good English and gave us good directions to all the tourist sites and good restaurants. The rooms were kept spotlessly clean and it was enjoyable having breakfast outside at the cafe next door. The main sites were literally only yards away and despite having one of our party in a wheelchair we walked everywhere, including the Vatican. The hotel arranged for us to be picked up from the airport on arrival and taken to the port at Civitavecchia on departure. All went very smoothly and was well worth the expense. I hope to use the hotel again and would recommend it to anyone who wanted a small family run establishment in the heart of Rome as opposed to part of a large impersonal chain.

This hotel is very small, clean and for the most part quiet. The Staff was wonderful and friendly. (noise was loud guest, not street noise) Great location for walking to the sites. We did not use public transportation as it was such a good location. Although they say there is an elevator, it is not real practical, still must use the stairs.

Amazingly friendly and always helpful staff. Just in the hearth of the old Rome, walking distance to almost all main sites and breakfast with a view to the Rome Forum... The hotel is not a fancy 5* but it's a good traditional style hotel. A place to recommend... :) If you wanna rent a scooter, there is also a rental shop 1min walk, its very amusing to do Rome by scooter.

This small bed and breakfast was perfect for our 3 day stay in Rome. We could walk everywhere from there and the Forum and Colosseum was just across the street. Our room was facing the back, which kept it very quiet, but the view wasn't anything special. Breakfast was in the outdoor cafe of the restaurant next door, and was pleasant and convenient. Overall, we felt the location was great and the service and amenities were fine but don't expect the type of facilities an American hotel would have to offer. Hotel Romano is a clean, friendly, basic bed and breakfast accommodation with an excellent starting point location to explore this beautiful city.

A typical Roman hotel. great location within walking distance of coliseum & forum. metro convenient. cleaners a little too enthusiatic putting everything away & starting before we had finished breakfast. first stay in rome for 30 years. breakfast was very simple - croissant, dry toast & coffee but adequate in outside sitting area - nice in summer. Hotel seemed expensive but by Rome standards I guess its the norm. Good local restaurants higher up the street & off side roads but take advantage of glorious settings at novona etc too. Comfortable neighbour hood to walk at night. TV channels very limited & lift very lsmall. arrange car to airport at lower rate than airport taxis. Would definitely stay again.

The lady cleaners were very nice and helpful. The receptionist was never the same each time we stepped into the hotel (weird). Rooms were very clean and they tidied everything up. Shower tray was slippery (we were 3 and we nearly fell at least once each). Breakfast was typical european style - some ham or sth filling/savoury would have been better. Location was great, however, the instructions given to reach the hotel were a little vague/didn't quite understand the instructions. We didn't know that there were 5 stops in 'Cavour'and got off at the first stop where of course we walked the rest of the way under the hot sun...Air conditioning was a life-saver as it was really hot when we were there. Elevator was pretty slow to close its doors and the button for the second floor didn't light up. I would go back again to Hotel Romano and I am, at the end of the month.

My daughter and I arrived in Rome after 10 days of traveling in Greece and the Tuscany area of Italy. The Hotel Romano was easy to find and is in a lovely area of Rome. It is in a very convenient location for walking to the sights and catching the Metro or bus for transportation. We were greeted by Santo (who had also sent me an e-mail greeting prior to our trip). Santo was very friendly, spoke good English, and was happy to meet us and very efficiently sent us to our room. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and clean. The hotel had an elevator which we appreciated since we were on the 4th floor and the rooms have high ceilings so it was a lot of stairs! We stayed 3 nights and were very comfortable there. The housecleaning serivce was exceptional--even organizing our clothes and stuff!!! The breakfast was a bit confusing at first--you get a voucher for the snack/bar next door. You can either sit outside at the sidewalk cafe or inside the snack bar. They are very busy in the mornings with the hotel and other customers, but it didn't take too long to get your cappuchino and pastry. It wasn't much, but at least something to start the day. Being American and loving my morning coffee, I wished I could have had a refill or two without additional cost, but the voucher was just for one. The hotel was staffed 24 hours and they were pretty helpful with the questions we had, Santo more than the others. I would recommend this hotel to others and would stay there again if I get back to Rome. Our cost was 100 euros a night, which I think was reasonable considering the location and how expensive Rome is overall.

I was at Albergo Romano middle of November 2008 together with 3 of my friends. We really loved this hotel. Everything was perfect, welcoming, the cleanliness of the rooms, the spaciousness of rooms. The hotel surroundings were the first reason to choose this hotel and also the other clients opinions. It's absolutely perfect for someone who's staying only for few days in Rome, because everything really representative for Rome is at feet distance: Colloseum and Roman Forum, 5 min, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna, 10-15 min. The subway it's 2 min distance... Please enjoy.

Very central and near two Metros, so ideal for a short (4 day) visit to see some of Rome. Room very small but adequate; the shower had some fungus. Breakfast is an ad hoc affair in an enclosed area on the busy pavement; adequate but you do not linger, and gruff bk/fast staff. Main staff fine and cleaners super - just need supervising a bit more. Some noisy guests. The albergo has no facilities as such, so you really are only paying for a room. No Wi-Fi, which seems silly these days, but a good Internet Cafe near the Cavour Metro on Cavour.

We are a family of 4 (2 adults a 5 year old and a 1 year old) and this was our first time in Rome and this hotel was an absolute dream! The location could not have been any better since it was literally right around the corner from the Colosseum with not even a 5 minute walk to it. We were centrally located to everything it seemed. The staff were the best. So helpful and friendly and always ready with a smile and a way to help. The breakfast offered was excellent although as a heads up it's at the cafe next door not in the actual hotel but it was not a problem at all. Also the elevator is tiny so if you bring a lot of luggage expect a couple of trips. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and we will use them when we go back.

I stayed at the Hotel Romano with my mother and my 14 year old son. Our welcome was warm and genuine, and Santo on reception was a true superstar. Our room was spacious, bright and spotlessly clean (everyday in fact!) Breakfast was in a room in the cafe next door. The coffee is to die and the food is basic continental sweet breakfast, consisting of toast, jam and a sweet pastry. The location of the Hotel Romano is perfect. It is 40 - 50 yards from the entrance to the Roman Forum, and little more than 200 yards to the Colosseum. We walked to all the major attractions with the exception of the Vatican, however it can be reached on foot easily, we were just having a lazy morning. The hotel has a lift that can fit 2 people in, 3 at a push. The rooms were quiet when the windows are shut, however I personally liked hearing the sounds of the city at night, so kept the windows open. The staff were fantastic and speak English well. For the price and location, Hotel Romano is the best find in Rome. I will definitely be staying there next time I go to Rome - which I hope is very soon!

This was a very good stay and exactly what I was looking for. The staff was excellent and the room condition was also excellent. The location was superb....right across from the Forum and just down the street from the Capital and Colosseum. Breakfast was included in the price and it was very good. The room was small by U.S. standards but that was OK, as the price was very reasonable and I was out and about except for the 7 hours I slept there ea. night. I would recommend this hotel to bargain hunters who want a great location, excellent price without the frills.

My husband and I have never been to Rome before and therefore found the location of the hotel Romano an excellent base from which to explore the city. The hotel overlooked the forum; was within 5 minutes walking distance of the colloseum and 3 minutes from the green line tour bus stop (hop on/hop off). Using the bus (€18 pp) meant that we could reach the Vatican within 40 minutes, taking in the major sites/attractions/stops along the way. The hotel itself was exceptionally clean, bright and tastefully furnished. The unobstructed views from our hotel room balcony looked out onto the forum and other historic buildings. The room was air conditioned and made sleeping in the heat of summer comfortable. The continental breakfast was fresh and served with a pleasant manner. The hotel offers a limo service for airport pick up/drop off should you wish to avoid organising transport/logistical issues - just ask. The service at the hotel overall was exceptional and friendly and justified our choice of hotel - we have no hesitation in returning to the hotel Romano in the future, let alone recommending the hotel to others!

I travelled with my 15 year old son, the location couldn't have been better for what we wanted to see in Rome. The room was cool, clean and welcoming to a very good standard. There are no lounge facilities or restaurant, but this was not an issue for us. The proprieter and his staff were very helpful and friendly and there was someone available 24/7. The continental breakfast served in the cafe next door was what we expected and the staff were welcoming and helpful. We felt safe and really enjoyed our stay. The maids here were obsessive about leaving anything on the floors. We would slide our suitcases and shoes under the bed and come back later to find they had been moved! Not a problem, just funny! Location was on a main street right in the heart of everything, very near the Colliseum. Noisy, but when we closed our windows, everything was blocked out; not a problem. Good air conditioning. We stayed 6 nights at this hotel. Excellent location! The Colosseum and Forum are literally right across the street! Metro within a few blocks, two stops from the central train station. (Although, I would recommend a taxi to the hotel if you're traveling with luggage, only 9 Euro and worth every penny!) The hotel staff was excellent - very friendly, very accommodating, most spoke English well enough to answer questions and give directions. Our triple room was very spacious by European standards, though the bathroom was quite small. We also had a ceiling fan, which was nice on the few days when the weather got warm in the afternoon. (The A/C did emit cool air but the fan on the unit barely moved it through the room.) The lift was small, but worked quite well. Our second-floor room faced the intersection of two main streets in historic Rome, so the traffic at night was a bit noisy, even with the shutters and double windows closed. Our only complaint was the breakfast area. It was outside, under a canopy, in front of the hotel. We had a couple of rainy mornings, so this was not very enjoyable. Food came from the "snack bar" next door - juice, pre-packaged toast, cappuccino, and brioche - typical continental breakfast, but no variety. It did get boring after a few days. Overall, we would probably stay here again.

We were very happy with the hotel and staff who were very friendly. The location was wow! Around the corner from the colossium. Room was very clean, but didn't have any tea/coffee facilities. The breakfast was served next door by a rather rude man who made us feel uncomfortable. This was in contrast to the staff at the hotel, who were very welcoming. However, there were numerous cafes and restaurants to eat at in the vicinity of the hotel. I would recomend the hotel to my friends for it's quiet location, within walking distance from the station and "all" tourist attractions.

Everything was great except maybe the quietness of the room: it's located next to a crossroad and the window wasn't very isolated. But I think it's a little discomfort because you're next to Coliseum, Imperials forums and Capitole: hard to be better located. I recommend this excellent hotel for the relationship between price and quality.

Excellent location just accross the street from Forum and 2 long blocks from the Coliseum. Within walking distance to other sites. Several good restaurants in same block. Two rooms facing front of hotel on the 4th floor have a terrace that overlooks Forum area. Our group had 2 triples and 4 doubles, we were in a double but found most rooms have 3 beds and are spacious. Notice there were some single rooms on each floor. Hotel has about 26 rooms on 4 floors. Small, but adequate elevator helps get luggage up to rooms. Breakfast was next door; get a coupon from hotel desk and step next door. Order your choice of coffee at counter, sit down and staff will bring you a croisant type roll, juice and packaged toast with jam. Rooms facing front have street noise that becomes noticable around 6:30 am but that was not a problem for our group.

The place was really nice and clean, the staff friendly.

We were two friends traveling together (a Scotsman and an American), staying in separate rooms. Hotel Romano was wonderful for me, as I had a quiet room on the top floor. My traveling companion was not so lucky, with his room on a floor with a group of noisy college students. (In all fairness, he did not speak to them or the manager, which might have solved the problem.) But the walls and doors are not so soundproof. The staff could not have been more wonderful, especially a gentleman named Santo who was warm, funny, and helpful, and made me feel like we were staying with Italian friends. The hotel is perfectly located between two Metro stops, and we could walk to most destinations also. Would definitely stay there again. Breakfast was fine, but became somewhat monotonous after 8 days! We should have just purchased something different in the cafe where we ate it. But again, the staff there were friendly and kind, and even gracious when the swarm of students overran the small shop. Good value for money.

This was our first trip to Rome and was looking forward to our stay. The Hotel Romano was brilliantly located and was about a twenty minute walk from/to the Libreria Termini. It is just around the corner from the Colosseum and across the street from the Forum. It is walking distance from most of the sites. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Our Italian is basic to say the least, but the staff spoke excellent English which was very helpfull. It made for a relaxed stay. The down side was the TV channels were all in Italian, but no one goes to Rome to watch television. The breakfast was very basic, but we did not mind. We will be using this hotel when we visit Rome again in 2008.

The rooms in the front of the hotel are a bit noisy due to the street noise and the rooms are small. But, if you want a central hotel for a good price I would recommend this hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Perfect location to all attractions. Friendly staff but spoke little English. I would recommend this hotel as a very convenient place to stay. Don't expect luxury but a good value. You won't be in your room for long anyway. TV only has Italian shows...no satellite.

I've been to Rome many times and this was the only really bad hotel experience I've had there. The walls were filthy, the furnishings like a college dorm, there was a hole in the ceiling and black mold growing in the shower and the tv was broken so no backround noise except via the window. Breakfast is served outside under an awning next to the gas station and the food comes from the coffee shop next door. Would never recommend this place to anyone!

The hotel has a small reception, no breakfast room and no place to sit down and relax. The room har no chairs, The breakfast is served in a restaurant on the street, and the breakfast was of poor quality. Plastic knife and paper plates. All in all - the hotel was a big disappointment.

Fantastic hotel. They gave us one of the top-floor suites with a view of the Forum, which could not be beat. Staff were fantastic and the location is central to almost everything of interest in Rome. The only downside is the lame breakfast from the restaurant next door. Quality local food can be a 10 minute walk away.

The Hotel Romano was an excellent choice for us during our stay in Rome. My wife and I fly for an airline and have stayed in many hotels in Europe, and for the price (in Rome, at least) the Hotel Romano provides a clean, quiet and spacious hotel literally across the street from the Roman Forum and a couple blocks from the Colosseum and the Colosseo Metro station. This makes it a breeze to get to from Fiumicino airport by taking the train (11 Euros) to Termini station and then two Metro stops ("free" Metro with purchase of the Roma Pass at the airport train station) to Colosseo and a 2 block walk to the Romano. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, even if their English was a bit spotty. The breakfast was the weak spot of the stay with only a sweet roll, packaged toast and jam, a small juice and a coffee/tea, but it was at least something. Great gelato right next door and good paninis at the store on the corner. There is also a photo store across the street for digital downloading and printing as well as buying digital media , batteries etc. All in all we highly recommend the Hotel Romano for your base for seeing Rome.

Fabulous location near Roman Forum and Colisseum. Small hotel, steep steps no lift, noisy on the street at a main road crossing. Breakfast very average.

The single room at the Romano was clean and neat. As usual in Rome, it was small. But the dark bare floor and high window made it feel like a cell, since there were almost no decorations. It is placed well, next to the Imperiali only two blocks from the Colosseum, surrounded by little restaurants. For a single person on a one-night stay it worked just fine.

Of the four cities we visited and the hotels we stayed in Hotel Romano offered the smallest room. We had a triple and there was not much room to move about. The bathroom was very small also. But the location made up for the size of the room. We were close to the Colosseum and the Metro. The staff was very helpful. And they have Illy coffee at breakfast.

We needed a room in a pinch and the Romano was the cheapest decent room not right outside the train station. We found it clean enough but the air conditioning didn't really work and when we called to complain nothing was ever done. Overall it is fine, the view from our balcony was pretty incredible but the location is very touristy and not super nice. Not trying to be overly critical, it was fine but not much more.

The view from the corner of our block! Collosseum was right there! I am standing next to a gelato place and our hotel was two more doors down.
