This hotel was a stone's throw away from Castel Sant'Angelo and Vatican City was very close as well. Most of Rome's highlights could be reached on foot within 10 minutes. We stayed in a triple room and there was adequate space to accommodate us. The rooms looked a little old and tired - the walls had scuff marks all over and needed a good scrub. Bed linen was also suffering from a little wear and tear. Breakfast was quite ordinary - sliced, individually wrapped cheese singles and sliced salami/mortadella. Coffee wasn't great either considering it was Italy. Most unpleasant of all was the girl serving at breakfast. Very unwelcoming and not a smile in sight...somewhat intimidating. The guys at the reception were much better and very informative and helpful. Overall a good place to stay if all you are looking for is a bed and not looking to spend much time at the hotel.

Excellent service at thier front desk - they were very helpful. This hotel has about 10rooms on the first floor right next to the front desk/lobby. There is a free continental breakfast there as well that was very good. If you don't want to walk 10-15 mins to Vatican, you can take a taxi. I reccomend a taxi to other sites like Coluseum, etc. Appoximately 10 Euro to go just about anywhere you need. Good location - good price - excellent service. I would definitely stay there again.

We booked this hotel because it seemed ideally located close to St. Peter's, Castelo Sant'Angelo and other key sites a short walk across the river (e.g. Piazza Navona), but also because it did not have a single negative review on venere.com, so our expectations were already high to begin with. Well, the hotel lived up perfectly to those expectations. Great location for sightseeing and easy access to transportation, extremely clean and very quiet rooms, free wireless internet and friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Rome. Our only regret is that we didn't stay there longer.

Good calm accomodation. Very close to St. Angel's Castle and Vatican. Former apartments, now hotel. Minus - no own parking (but it is difficult to have in the city center) Good for 1-2 nights in big city as Rome to sleep.

Wonderful location and great value. The staff were friendly and very helpful in dealing with the airlines and recovering our lost luggage. There are several good restaurants nearby and the bus stop was also quite close. St. Peter's is within easy walking distance.I would stay here again without hesitation.

We stayed here for two nights. Perfect location - but not easy to find. Nice little hotel close to the main sights (nearby Castel S. Angelo, Vatican City also in walking distance). Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff very helpful and kind.

Wonderful hotel in a great location! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and spoke English. Breakfast was very basic, coffee, sweets, yogurt, cereal, and a small selection of deli meat and cheese. Two minor issues: 1. We booked a triple room, so expeceted proper beds for 3, but the third bed was a cot. 2. Our room was right off the reception/breakfast area which was a bit noisy first thing in the morning. Otherwise, everything was great! I highly recommend this hotel.

Traveling from Boston to spend time in Rome, we were hopeful that the accommodations would live up to our expectations. During the entire week, the Roma dei Papi Hotel and its employees continuously went beyond the level of hospitality necessary to maintain a comfortable environment. The staff acted as conceierge, interpreters, restaurant critics and tour guides right from the hotel lobby! The next time we are back in Rome, we will again stay at the Roma dei Papi. Molto Bene!

Room 107 Ground floor, very warm, though I stayed in November... due to hot pipes going through the walls... Very noisy as well, as it was close to the breakfast room...

The location of this hotel can not be beat. We were able to walk to everything - from St. Peter's to the Forum, there wasn't anything out of reach. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. They even were able to track us down when we left something in the hotel room after check out. I will come again and again. THANK YOU ROMA DEI PAPI!!!

If you are looking for quiet accomodations, at a reasonable price, Roma dei Papi is the place. This hotel is very clean, and the staff is very attentive. My wife and I stayed for two nights prior to visiting Tuscany, while planning to stay elsewhere on our return trip. After our pleasant stay, I cancelled the other reservation and booked another night at Roma dei Papi. While the location may be a street or two off the common paths, I found the location to be very accessable. When we next return to Rome, this will be our first choice for accomodation.

I went with my partner for a weekend and needed somewhere that was clean, tidy, with a good location and had friendly staff - this hotel didn't let us down. The location was perfect and the desk staff were very helpful, well mannered and offered good advice on how to get around and where to go. For us the location was the best as we wanted somewhere that was near the main attractions but also safe and allowed for romance. While the room was not the biggest, it was modern and had everything you needed as a base to explore from. We were given maps and they marked the best sights and places that locals as well as tourists find interesting about Rome. We would go back no problem.

Hotel location is fantastic, rooms quiet (not easy in Rome). The picture on the website was somehow misleading because it showed a big building whereas the hotel occupies only a small portion of it. I find prices quite high, but that is typical of Rome. Very friendly staff. Nice restaurant in the area (Mole Adriana).

Started and ended my vacation in Rome. Stayed for a total of 3 days. Only 2 nights at Roma dei Papi. The room was clean and comfortable. The owner/manager was very helpful by indicating sites to see on the map they provided, along with an intriguing history lesson! I recommend this place and would stay there again!

Our taxi driver did eventually find the hotel and we were very pleasantly surprised by the warmth of the welcome and by the size of our room and en-suite - very large by most city standards. All the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast was basic but OK. The location of the hotel is quiet but very convenient for the Vatican. All other sights, shops and the Metro can be reached by a healthy walk. We really enjoyed our stay there and would definitely return.

When we were to check out, there was no one available to take care of us! We had to wait about 20 minutes for someone to arrive; then she wasn't able to make our card work although we had used it often over the weekend. Finally, she just took our card information. On the other hand, when we arrived, Francesco was VERY helpful with information on a nice bar where we would be able to find something nice to eat at an off hour.

This is a very nice hotel, well located near the Vatican on the right bank of the river, and walking distance of the old historical city. Many restaurants around. A quite place outside, some internal noise due to a perfectible wall soundproofing. The owners and the staff are very kind, helpfull and efficient. Nice continental breakfast. A place I woukd recommend in this price class.

The hotel location is very wonderful and both Stafano and Adriana are wonderful people. They give great guidance for you and are really welcoming. I personally found the shower to be too small and the breakfast to be average. It is located in anice neighbourhood and is a walkable distance to most sights. There is a bus stop nearby as well. Overall, it was a good place to stay in.

A lovely place to stay, staff were excellent and very helpful. Our room was next to the reception so lights at night were a little bit of a problem. The gardens were closed so finding the place was a bit difficult, stay on the bus until you see the Castle and walk around the back then onto the street where the hotel is located. The staff gave good advice on how to get to places.

The location of the hotel was great and close to just about everything in Rome. Waiting for and riding in a taxi takes longer anyways in Rome, so bring your good shoes. The service was excellent, the breakfast ok, cleanliness perfect, noise minimal, the bathroom great, a Coop around the corner and I would highly recomend Roma dei Papi Hotel de Charme to everyone. We'll be back and thanks. Andreas and Laila

Very friendly and helpful staff, quite reasonable rate. Clean rooms, decent breakfast. The staff all speak excellent English, and are helpful with restaurant and other recommendations. The hotel is small (about 8 rooms, as near as I could tell) and occupies a space on the ground floor of what appears to be an office/apt. building. (The exterior photo on the website is of the building in which the hotel is located.) Views from the rooms are of courtyard parking areas, though, at least when I was there, there was not much activity in those areas, so there was not a lot of noise from the outside. There is, however, a lot of noise leak from the lobby/hallway into the rooms, and I heard everytime the people in the neighboring rooms took a shower or used the toilet. Carpeting in the lobby and hallway areas might help absorb some noise from the lobby, but I don't know what would resolve the problem of hearing the neighboring showers. (I heard my neighbor singing in the shower on the first evening!) Light sleepers will have trouble here. But heavy sleepers, and those who don't mind thin walls will be fine. Convenient to St. Peter's and the castle, but a nice walk to the other main tourist areas. (5-10 minutes to get over the bridge.) 10-15 minute walk to the nearest metro station. Someone who wants to be in the heart of all the action in Rome will be disappointed, but someone who wants a small, no-hassle place will enjoy it.

I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone. Appearance a bit deceiving from pictures, you see the building and assume the hotel accomodates the whole building but in actual fact the hotel covers only a small part of the ground floor. This made the place very personal and familiar. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. My mother had a very bad fall on our first day and they couldn't have been more accomodating or concerned. They did everything they could to help and make the rest of her stay more comfortable. If I were returning to Rome, which I sincerely hope to in the future, I would definately go back to this hotel. The location as well as the excellent staff was ideal.

Very nice value for price. Location was ideal. Only issue was that this hotel was a little difficult to locate. Hotel sign was very small and inconspicuous, causing our taxi to circle the area several times. Be sure to have directions with you.

Stephano was a very welcoming host. Louisa was helpful on attractions in area. Room behind office was nicely updated, but small with a view of the alley. However, we spent all of one night in the property so it was adequate for our needs. First visit to Rome and it was very well located for Vatican tour which was our major reason for choosing this area. I would rate it as a true 3-star and comparable to other 3 stars we stayed in on our trip, but room was a bit small. Parking was no charge; about a block walk. They will require cash, no credit card.

This has to be the best location in Rome. It was easy walking distance to ANYTHING, the neighborhood was so beautiful, and the hotel itself was just wonderful!!! We felt so fortunate to have found this hotel. I certainly recommend it highly.

This hotel has manny great characteristics. the first one that stands out is the friendliness. because of its small size the staff new me by name before I could even introduce myself. the location is perfect too. verry close proxcimity to the Vatican city and piazza navona for excelent nightlife. many resturants within walking distance and the general area felt safe with enough people around to walk about at night. The room was newly renoated with manny modern coviniences including new hardwood floors a flat screen TV and there is free internet access the hotel is close to one of the stops on the 110 open bus (touristic bus) and there is a small covenience store near the entrance and a local police station as well. the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I have recomended this hotel to other friends already who plan to visit in the near future. my one complaint was that there is not a sign outside the building to indicate that you have arrived at the hotel so make sure you have the building number written down. your Taxi Driver will be able to find this place easily.

It was by chance that we booked Roma Del Papi Hotel De Charme through Venere. This hotel has everything you could wish for. Its location (they say location is everything) is within walking distance of all of the main attractions. The exterior is a classical building and its interior rooms are newly fitted out in a delightful, modern, chic, classical style. The rooms are spotless and have all modern conviences. The real gems at this hotel are its young owners and managers Arianna and Stefano who are one of the nicest couples we have ever met. We witnessed their kindness to other guests who needed help. They were prepared to go well above the call of duty to make their place feel like a home to all of us. Both speak excellent english, are pleasant and helpful. We will be back and so will many of our friends.
