This hotel is a very cool design, the dining room looks like a swedish film set from the 60's and it has a cool clientele to match. BUT the location is awful, it is quite a hike from the station (which is seedy) and a good walk to the restaurant area. Our room was very generous in size but the sheets hadn't been changed from the previous guest...this is totally unacceptable. When I told the reception desk they just said "oh" no apology was offered or compensation. They will now pay the price with this bad review.

The hotel is in an absolute run down condition. Website is very very deceptive.the pictures on the site are no where near what the hotel looks like. The outer building looks very sad and grey! Rooms are not fresh. Furniture is ripped off at many places. Service is very poor. The staff unfriendly. For a lesiure traveller I would never recommend this hotel. It is not value for money. Area surrounding the hotel is very poor.

Qualità del servizio davvero scadente per un 4 stelle. Prenotato per motivi di lavoro, si è rivelato poco pulito, scarsamente confortevole e non all'altezza rispetto al prezzo. Una vera delusione

The hotel was in a great location, with a grocery store literally right next door, which is a major plus when traveling. The service though left something to be desired, as the front desk was not very helpful in meeting the needs of guests. When I asked for a room that did not have the sun shine directly into it late in afternoon (AC wasn't allowed to be turned on in Italy yet and our room was boiling at 5 pm), they told me I would have to pay an additional $120 US/night to get a different room. I would not rececommend for the price - did not get my money's worth.

Very nice stay, comfortable rooms, details like plumbery shold be revised. Travelling with an handicapped person, elevators are not wide enough to manage a wheel chair. Internet service was broken and need two days for repair. Rates for internet are by hour and should be bought with a ticke at the lobby.

The rooms have very thin walls. You could really hear everything from your neighbours, even a tap running. During our 4-day stay, they did not once hoover the room, although there were things on the floor. The surroundings werent' hip and trendy as stated. They were dingy and dirty. Service was good. Breakfast too.

We had a great time in Rome, partly facilitated by having a nice hotel in a great neighborhood. We chose the Hotel Ripa partly because we wanted to stay in the Trastavere neighborhood, and we were not disappointed.
It's a great urban area, walking distance to the colosseum, but far enough that's it's not "touristy." The restaurant downstairs was delicious, especially the pasta carbonara. The facilities were clean, the staff was responsive and informative. The bed was comfortable, a little stiff but we had great sleep.
I also felt that the room was secure, as they have motorized metal gates on the windows and balcony doors. The safe was not large enough to hold my computer, but we didn't have any problems leaving it in the room.
The only negative I have for the Hotel Ripa is that they advertise that they have internet service... but it's a 28.8 phone line connection. They do allow you to use their access number and account, but still, it's a slow phone line connection. However, this was still the best internet connection we had while traveling in Italy (outside of the internet cafes).
Overall, I'm pleased with the hotel, would return, and would recommend it to my friends.

The rooms were really spacious and nice and worth the money. The bathroom was a little flooded but good looking. The service staff was partly unfriendly. Still the Ripa is a good place to stay in Rome. Only a few minutes walk from Trastevere - excellent for going out at night.
