Reception saw us having difficulties climbing the stairs to the counter but didn't offer to help. They were about 4 of them (maybe in training??) and they stood there talking amongst themselves, giggling, and totally ignored us when we were at the counter for a short while. Bad first impression - extremely unprofessional. After that initial incident, everything was fine as we don't need to interact with them anymore. Night staff however was knowledgeable and show professionalism and helpful in every way.

The quick response in communication and thorough info given was very professional. The location made it so convenient to get on a bus line by the Termini Station. Situated in the city it was a little noisier than expected. However, we slept very well on the good mattress. We had a wonderful quaint window view down a narrow, bustling side street full of vendors during the day. Highly recommend.

It was a wonderful stay, with very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is very close to Termini (main train station), which makes it ideal for exploring the rest of Roma. The wonderful beds, soft cushions and delicious (value for money) breakfast were also huge plus points. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Roma.

We had Superior Room 4 nights. But internet connection was broken in our room. I could not use the internet. (Link of LAN port and Wi-Fi connection was OK, but IP address didn't come down in my computer. I am a Network Engineer. I think definitely.) I said to reception staff, You have to repair the internet connection in my room. But only near reception Wi-Fi was OK. So, hotel's staff was not believe that the internet connetion in guest room is broken. The glass for shower is too small, the bathroom was soaked.

The hotel is very close to the train station. The staff was very friendly. They answered all of our questions. The room was very large and spacious for a European hotel. It was amazingly less expensive than our hotel in Venice. We would stay at the hotel Rex again. There are double decker buses that allow you to get an overview of the city. You are able to hop off of the buses and see a bit of the city and then you are able to hop back onto the buses and continue the tour at will. That is a wonderful thing. We only allocated one day for our stay in Rome and it helped us to see many things. We wish that we had scheduled more time there.

The hotel staff were excellent, made our holiday experience very good. The hotel itself is located walking distance to most of the sites and the hotel itself is nice and quiet. The room is small but was very comfortable. We were in Rome for two days, we built an itinerary of what we wanted to see with the help of the hotel staff as there is so much in Rome worth visiting. The hotel provided a fantastic base, close to the metro to visit the sites and close enough to walk. The hotel kindly made arrangements for car parking as we did not require it's use during our stay.

The Hotel Rex is a lovely property. We had a triple room and it was quite spacious. The only problem was we were on like a 2nd floor annex and the elevator didn't stop there. We had to get off and walk down a 1/2 flight of marble steps with no secure handrail.

The experience I had the night before I checked-in at Hotel Rex just made feel like this hotel deserved the best rating. I was in a horrible hostel near the Train terminal the night before, the moment I stepped into that place, I felt sick, so dirty, so even try to think about it. So I turn on the computer to find another one for my second and third night in Rome. Hotel Rex had some kind of promotion at that time that I only paid 82euro/night for a standard double room with private bathroom. It's was perfectly located near metro, bus stop, and train station. room was very clean, and stuffs were nice.

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. It should be considered a 3 star hotel. The lobby area is very small and the very small elevator almost did not fit my luggage. The breakfast was average, it had the same food every morning and not much variety. It is very close to the termini station which is good and have a number of eateries around the place.

Nice hotel, we had a very big room with an entrance area containing a sofa, both shower and bath in the bathroom as well as two sinks (comfortable...). All was very clean but there were some fractures in the bathroom floor. The bed was very big, very clean and comfortable, it was hard to get up in the morning... Air conditioning worked perfactly. However the hotel is quite old, we didn't really care because our room was great, but I think that the price they ask is too much. We did not eat breakfast.

Definitely could do with some redecoration but the rooms were a grand size and had nearly everything. The breakfast was good and if included in your price is worth it otherwise you can find places close to the hotel. The location is handy for Termini so you can walk to the hotel when you arrive from the airport. Termini also has both Metros so handy for travelling around. But....if you're looking for 4 star luxury try a 5 star hotel I would rate this hotel as a good 3 stars. Rome is expensive but this area is one of the cheaper for the money concious traveller. Up the road towards Via Nationale there is a cheap shop for water etc and there is a supermarket on the Via Nationale itself.

Arrived to fantastic welcome, however, one of the two rooms we had booked was not ready. In fact bed and furniture were turned upside down against the wall! Rooms were in state of disrepair. Complained and was eventually moved to more suitable room. Although Euro is very strong against pound, Rex was not value for money and very borderline as a 4 star hotel. Would not go back again. Hotel Sonya round the corner better value for money.

As mentioned by others, this is not a 4-star property, more like a 2-star. I imagine that this results in virtually everyone feeling disappointment in their experience. My double room was not very nice: there was a big brown stain on the bedspread(!?!), scratchy sheets, smelly towels, a big stain on the carpet, fluorescent bulbs everywhere, and no outlet for a hairdryer in the bathroom (and who knows what happened here, but I blew up the hairdryer that for 3 weeks I had successfully been using with a transformer??). On an upnote...the breakfast was good.

This Hotel was great. First impressions weren't good but when you get into the Hotel and are greeted by very friendly and helpful Staff, the outside facade doesn't matter. The Hotel itself was great. The Staff fantastic. A cooked breakfast, only one out of 7 Hotels stayed in. Also, it turned out to be a brilliant location. Apart from the Vatican, everything in Rome was no more than 20 minutes away. Here again, the Receptionist was great. She gave us a map, a route to follow to pick up all the attractions. Although we were on a side street, we had a magificent Piazza 2 minutes away with pubs, retaurant and bars surrounding it. The other dierection took you into the main street and to all the attractions. The Staff surpassed themselves again when the restaurant they recommended turned out to be brilliant and not dear! Defintely would stay here again.

This hotel did not feel like a 4 star hotel. We were both very disappointed. The reception area looked promising, but the bedrooms were poor. The decor was of a low quality and very tired. Discoloured wallpaper and broken light bulbs didn't help. The room had an overwhelming smell of body odour which didn't shift in the 3 days we stayed despite having the windows open night and day. The sheets also smelt very musty and the overall cleanliness was not that great. Breakfast was of a low quality and although I am NEVER normally picky about food, I was struggling to find something I liked. The orange juice was heavily watered down too. I give very fair reviews of hotels, (see my reviews of hotels in Naples and Venice) but I would NOT recommend this hotel. Save your money and go elsewhere.

This was actually one of the worst hotels that I have stayed at. The beds were just awful. My dad got a back ache from the uncomfortable and soft bed!!! We actually wanted to leave early because we were so uncomfortable, but they wouldn't let us leave!!! They wanted us to pay for the rooms even though we weren't staying there. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE!!!! It was just awful. The room was supposed to be non smoking but smelled really bad and had ashtrays all over it. So don't ever stay there.

Didn't expect much when I arrived at the door step of this hotel. The exterior didn't say much about what's in there. Gone up the stairs into the hotel, and found myself standing in a rather cosy public area. The air-con just managed to deliver a reasonably cool temperature for my room when the outside temperature was at about 35 degrees celcius. The carpet was filthy and the bedspread was strained in the first room I was put in. The same was true in the second and third rooms as well. Overall, the service was good, but the cleanliness of the rooms makes me rate this hotel as POOR. Furthermore, there is no sun/deck or solarium and the "cigar bar" no longer exists. Location is good, near the Termini trainstation and Rebublica subwaystop. Also near Via National where a lot of buslines stop.
