About Hotel Residenza in Farnese

reception Hotel Residenza in Farnese reception The historical Residenza Farnese Hotel is situated in the very heart of Rome, close to Piazza Farnese and Campo dè Fiori and a stone's throw away from Piazza Navona. Many of the city's most important sites can be comfortably reached on foot.

At the beginning of the 19th Century, the palace was bought by the Church and became the seat of the Ecclesiastical Institute for the formation of young new priests.

Today, this old monastery houses a cosy hotel of 31 rooms in their original layout.

The passion for art and restoration of two ladies, Marisella and Carla, who run the hotel with particular care, offer guests a warm and prestigious welcome.

Hotel Reviews Residenza in Farnese

for a 4* hotel there were no tea/coffee making facilities in rooms, exorbitant prices were charged for tea ( in form of one teabag, hotwater and the smallest doll size jug of milk) The bread/ pastry supplied at inclusive breakfast was hard. Amazing prices for water and soft drinks in mini bar. The reviews I based my booking were inaccurate and hotel staff were not at all forthcoming or even attempting to be welcoming. Would not recommend hotel.

My mom (in her late 70s) and I visited Rome for 10 days. The Residenza Farnese was an oasis of comfort during our stay. I think the breakfast was among the very best I ever had in any hotel in Italy (fabulous and plentiful hot coffee to get the day going, along with rolls, cereal, sweets, fruit, meats, and cheeses). The room was rather tight quarters, though not unlike other urban Italian hotels. And it was noisier than I would have expected, being on a side street. But what made the stay wonderful was the staff. They were ever-ready and helpful without being intrusive--wonderful hosts. If you go, ask them to arrange a driver to/from the airport; they can get a better rate than most anyone.

Hotel is in a great location. The street is small and quiet with Piazza Farnese at the end of the street and Campo dei Fiori just beyond that. Minutes to walk to the Piazza Navona and Trastevere for great restaurant options. It's not very close to the bus stops, but I preferred walking the streets anyway. The owners are very pleasant and helpful. Rooms are small by American standards, but typical for European hotels. I would definitely stay here again.

My family and I stayed in Rome for 4 days and found the Hotel Residenza in Farnese to be an excellent choice of hotel. We most appreciated the proximity to the bustling Campo de Fiori and walking distance to most landmarks. The quietness of the rooms is excellent and the staff are extremely helpful at all times. We will be recommending this hotel to our travel consultant and any friends who visit Rome.

We only stayed 2 nights, but after 4 of us in a small quad room in Sorrento, we were pleased with the spaciousness of our 2 double rooms (parents and 2 teens). The location was great, just off Campo dei Fiori (although spoiled a bit temporarily due to some renovation of the front of the building.

Two weak points: clim noisy in my room, and not very efficient (excellent in the corridor!); in the morning, the light filtered through the window, and I like to sleep in the black.

Estupenda situación, junto al Trastevere y la plaza de Campo di Fiori. A un paso de todo y calle tranquila. Lo peor, que estaban de obras en la fachada con los inconvenientes que conlleva, pero eso es pasajero...

The hotel room was spacious and clean. The receptionist was very helpful in organising a taxi to the airport, and keeping our luggage on the final day. The hotel is ideally located, within walking distance of the Vatican, Forum, Pantheon etc, so would recommend it, although it was a bit expensive. We ate most nights in Trastevere where there are lots of good restaurants for reasonable prices.

Splendidly situated : walking : 1 minute to Campo dei Fiori( tipical market in an old place ), 5 minutes to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, less than 15 minutes to Colosseo , Foro Antico or Piazza di Spagna ( luxuous shops ), 20min to the Vatican. Staff very kind ; nice breakfast.

This was a nice clean hotel but nothing special. Rooms were somewhat cramped and air conditioning noisy. However, the staff were very nice and accommodating and took care to order us a taxi for a very early morning trip to the airport and even made me a cup of coffee. Great location near Trastavere and Camp di Fiori.

We were totally satisfied with our stay at this hotel. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful with museum reservations, train schedules, directions, etc. The room we had initially was a bit small, but they did move us to a larger room when it became available the next day. The location is great--we were able to walk almost everywhere. For observant Jews (like us) it is perfect--a 10 minute walk to the synagogue and kosher food, a carpeted stairway, manual keys & a mini-bar fridge.

This hotel was an oasis of calm in the heart of very busy Rome! It was easy to walk to most of the sights or get the little electric 116 bus which passes very close. Our room was on the back of the hotel, so very quiet indeed. Breakfast buffet was excellent quality with a variety of fresh fruit and home made jams each day. The staff were all most helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation and would definitely stay there again.

Ecellent locatioin- right in the heart of Rome- 2 min to Campo de fiori, 5 min to Piazza Navona, 30 min to Vatican anf Colosseum and absolutely charmin corner of Rome- real Rome without crowds of tourists all the day round. Rooms very clean, staff absolutely compitent friendly and attentive and relations with a staff gave our a real pleasure. Breakfast is normal, nothing sdpecial but not a poor continental breakfast. Room was very quiet - no sound form the hotel, we had family with little children on the same floor- but no sounds through the door. The sound comes form the street- it can be more quiet in fact- but the surroundings are enough quiet not to have muhc motos and traffic so it was not bad! Alos it was great to stay in the old palazzo, right on the corner of the piazza farnese, there are a lot of places to have a dinner or to buy mineral water or something to eat in the room. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, perfect locaton.

We were at the Hotel Residenza in Farnese in July 2007. Breakfast was fine. Hotel is 400 years old, beautifully refurbished, rooms more than adequate although it was a bit small with a queen size bed. Location near the river was great. Could walk to most major attractions within 20 minutes, and the Great Synagogue was a 10 minute walk away. This hotel is a bargain, and the desk personel were very helpful and polite. I would definitely return to the hotel in the future.

This was one of the most pleasant hotels I ever had in Rome - and I often go there. It is beautifully kept, wonderful staff, beautiful gardenside view from the widows, a breakfast which is unusually nice for Italian standards. The location close to the most beautiful squares of Rome is exceptional. I think I've found my "Roman home".

I have stayed in several hotels in Rome, and this is, by far, the worst value for the money I have ever received. The property is hidden in a sidestreet that is lined with motor-cycles that can be heard in all hours of the day/night. The property is "bare-bones" in the services provided, yet charges much more than some of the really beautiful, premium properties in Rome. I only booked this property due to a last minute reservation, and the fact that it was available. I would NEVER use the property again. I actually moved to the Valadier, located around the Spanish Steps after a few days and received a much better room at a much better price in a much better location. Live and learn...

I chose a place and location that would provide a quiet place to rest after a day in the city. I made sure that there was air conditioning so that the windows could be shut at night for undisturbed rest. HOWEVER, even though the street was mostly pedestrian, the foot traffic continued until 3 & 4 am, the noise bounced off the buildings, AND the air conditioning couldn't be turned on until the end of May. A good night's rest was impossible. Hotels should inform clients of restrictions on AC use. Other than the noise and little sleep, the hotel was nice.

Our first visit to Rome. The hotel is delightful and as described. It is well located near to campo di fiori.(3 minutes on foot) 25 minutes walk from the Vatican and 10 minutes on foot to piazza navona. Breakfast served from 7:30 not 7:00 as described. Ciampino airport transfer was arranged for us on departure, (in a Lancia Limosine)for €52. It was excellent, but not as quick or exciting as the trip in from the airport in a beat up Fiat estate which lacked air-con, and cost €65 from the taxi rank at the airport.

This is a great place by Rome standards. It's on a quiet street and very close to Campo Di Fiori. The front desk staff was warm, welcoming and very eager to help. I've stayed at many other hotels in Rome over the years and I would definately return here above all next time. However, I wish the Italians would realize that a soft bed would be better than a piece of slate to sleep on; every hotel on this trip (Rome, Siena and Venice) had beds that left me with a back ache (but that's not unusual in Italy)!

My first initial impressions upon arriving at Hotel Residenza in Farnese were somewhat disappointing. Given the price we paid and the fact that this Hotel is a 4 star Hotel I expected something much better. The property is rather dated and the whole place needs a generally facelift and redecoration. Rooms and bathrooms are clean but again bathrooms need to be changed altogether as they have seen better days. Breakfast is a good buffet type, nothing exceptional and no warm food available. You have to pay extra for that and the prices are exorbitant. Location is very good with Piazza Navona very close by and also just a short walk to Trastevere. All in all this is a comfortable Hotel though definitely not up to 4 star standard.

Very comfortable hotel in a perfect situation, close to the center and close to Trastevere. So we easily could walk around for sightseeing and shopping. We had a nice, very clean room, even if it was not too big, but the view to the garden with the palm tree was wonderful and it was very quiet. The bathroom - with a window - was a bit small but with everything in you need. The air condition worked perfectly during these hot summer days. The employees were very friendly and helpfull. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a big selection - even fresh fruit salad. So it was a wonderful stay and we will for sure come again next time we are in Rome.

This was my tenth time in Rome - having stayed in a variety of hotels (I bring school trips - but this time it was the in-laws). This is the first time I have ever filled in a form because I felt I had to comment. It was the best stay I have had, largely due to the hotel. The location is outstanding - close enough to the centre and sights, yet in a location which is quiet and peaceful. The rooms were not huge, but they were clean and well-kept. The high point of the hotel was the staff who were informative, attentive, freindly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

A lovely gem of a hotel just off Piazza Farnese on a fairly quiet street, especially considering that it is only a few blocks from Campo dei Fiori. Rooms on the upper floors in the front have a view into the garden of the P. Farnese, beautiful in spring. The rooms are not huge, but are large by Rome standards, and very clean and comfortable. Front desk staff is helpful and polite, breakfast is very good. It was a haven after the transatlantic overnight flight! Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The location was excellent close to the Campo de Fiori and Piazza de Navona, so there were many restaurants to choose from and away from all of the "touristy" hustle and bustle of the Coloseeum area. Yes the rooms were small (even by European standards) but since i was traveling alone and didn't spend that much time in my room that was not a problem. Very friendly staff and quiet surrondings. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location and the breakfast was fantastic. The rooms were larger than I expected, but not huge. It was a bit old and could use a bit of renovation, but not so bad that I wouldn't stay there, though if it were less expensive, I would be more inclined to stay again. My room did not have an alarm clock, nor did it have much in the way of natural light (the few windows were near the ceiling). Also, the beds could have been more cushioning if they were made of brick...

We stayed 2 nights at this great little hotel before leaving on a cruise. We wanted to see as much as possible and it was perfect as it is in the heart of everything in Rome. The room and bath are small as to be expected (it's Europe), but totally adequate. Very clean. Our view from the 4th floor front was overlooking the tiny little street and the Plazzo Farnese rear gardens (the palace Farnese was really lovely). The staff were great and always helpful in calling taxis, giving directions, or recommendations for good places to eat, whatever we needed. The piazza Farnese and Campo dei Fiori were a great experience with little shops, cafes and the market which sets up daily in the Campo. This is a residential neighborhood, off the busy streets and full of locals. The area is very safe (as it was just my adult daughter and myself), and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We just returned from our trip and since it was in the Fall there were not the crowds one would find during the summer months. But the piazza and Campo dei Fiori are a popular area so there was a bit of noise from people leaving the area late at night, so if one would not want that they should ask for a room away from the front little street. We loved it and would definitely return there again.

We were a group of 4 adult couples staying in Tuscany for 3weeks, and traveling various cities in Italy. Rome was our last stop, and Resedenza Farnese was a disappointment, the employees were not as friendly as other hotels we stayed in, and some were not able to speak English. The rooms appeared a litle smaller than in the pictures, but the breakfast was superb ans the room was a european delight. The overall location of the hotel was very nice, right at the end of the ciampo del fiori. All in all I would not return to this hotel a little pricey for what we were used to.

The Hotel is ideally situated in a very quiet area within easy commute to all Rome attractions. There are many good restaurants and coffee bars within easy walking distance and the daily market in Campo de'Fiori (Field of Flowers)(150 metres from hotel)is not to be missed. I was pleased with this hotel. The location is great. Walking distance to almost all sites. The room we had was somewhat small but it did have a king size bed. We returned after our cruise and was given a much larger room, but not as quiet. There were no porters to help with all our luggage, and this was disturbing, because we are not young pups, and it took three trip on the eleavator because the eleavator was so small. But, it is Italy, and we really enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend this hotel. They try their best to please. The breakfast is strictly continental, but you can get for a price what you desire. I thought the price was high, but everything in Rome is expensive. I would return to this hotel, if for no other reason, it's location.

I couldn't have been happier with this hotel. I stayed in several hotels all over Europe during this trip, and this was one of the best. It was just on the Piazza Farnese, which is just off of Campo de Fiori and Piazza Navona. The location was excellent. It was close to everything, but not right on the noisy squares, so it was very peaceful. The facilities were attractive and clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I'll definitely stay here again. (The air conditioning during the August heat was a big bonus!!)

Good hotel and well located, close to many amenities but in a quiet block. The hotel staff are corteous and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are small but very well kept and clean. The breakfast room is delightful and the breakfast of good quality.

I researched many hotels in Rome as I was planning 6 days and was travelling alone - though meeting friends. I could not have been more pleased with the Hotel Farnese, it was just what I was looking for and I was sad to leave. The location is the best feature, but it is also very charming, has lots of character and the staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful, good English. Breakfast is good, attention to detail, nice room and nice bread. The two squares nearby (Piazza Farnese, Campo de Fiori) together provide contrast, architecture, cafes, bars, people-watching, fantastic daily fruit/flower market, wee bus if you need it and great atmosphere if you want a rest from the "sights". Campo de Fiori - great takeaway bread-pizza things at no. 22 mean you can eat incredibly well for around 3 Euros. There's a v.g. trad. restaurant at far corner of Piazza Farnese, but Trastevere just over the river across Ponte Sisto bridge is the best option for fun, pizza, people and cheap trattorias. Became a favourite hang-out. I loved the fact that the location of the hotel was v. central on quiet leafy green streets, but mercifully, there were relatively less tourists around than in the hell-spots further east. Only noise in hotel was once from an "exuberant" Italian man at 3.00am, but he was next door and I guess it was the vino... I would recommend the Farnese for people who want to be in the middle of gorgeous historic Rome and who enjoy exploring tiny alley-ways, local markets and going out on foot in the evening, but who do not care that they can't see the Trevi Fountain or 40,000 other tourists from their window. Rooms small but nice and clean. I don't think Rome is any more dangerous than any other big European city, but if you are a "lone woman" traveller concerned about safety at night, this is a great place, safe area with police nearby due to French Embassy. I recommend it highly and will definitely return.

This was out first trip Rome and we chose this hotel as it was very near to Campo Dei Fiori which we'd heard was a nice area. We stayed for 2 nights and the hotel didn't disappoint at all. The rooms were lovely with large bathrooms. It was fairly expensive compared to a lot of our accommodation in Italy, probaly due to the fact it had a bar and restaurant. The location was ideal though as there were many bars and restaurants nearby and it was within walking distance of all of the main sights in Rome.

This is a beautiful hotel and my room was the most comfortable and spacious I have ever had travelling single. My only criticism would be that the soundproofing between the rooms was not adequate. When the gentleman in the next room to mine made his daily early morning and late night calls home to the folks in the USA, I could hear every word, it was as though he was in the room with me. Otherwise, the hotel and facilites were excellent.

We were a family of four (2 adults and 2 children under 10) and felt that they didn't cater (or try) to children. They have no high chairs (not even one poorly put together one) in the dining room. Breakfast which is typical of Italian B&B's was not suffecient for our family. The only plus was the air condition. With the windows closed, we could still hear the people talking on the street behind the hotel, as well as traffic. The room was clean, the staff was overall, friendly and helpful (except for one employee that would not help us as we didn't speak French). I thought the price was not equal to the service or amenities. We heard, after our stay, that there are cheaper places to stay with better amenities. Hopefully this helps with your decision.

This is a great hotel for tourists. It is centrally located so that you can walk to most of the major sites you will want to visit. The staff was very professional and helpful. This area of Rome can be noisy at most hours of the day and night, so if that is a problem you should ask for a room off the street. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

We had a lovely room on 4th floor to the front. On the weekend it was quite noisy in the early hours. We were shown a room to the back which was not as good so we stayed in the first and subsequent nights were much quieter.

We loved this hotel! Our comfortable room had a large bed, a small couch, a desk, and even a flat-screen TV! The location was perfect and breakfast was delicious. We highly reccommend Residenza in Farnese to anyone, and would definitely stay there again. The only problem: there was no clock in our room!

This hotel and associated services were precisely as advertised, with the added attraction of very professional service by all involved. The quality of the rooms, the complementary breakfast, and the hotel services were all top notch. The location of this hotel is immediately adjacent to a plaza (piazza) that turns into a weekend hot spot for the locals. Most of the plaza is covered with outdoor tables (and heaters in the winter) for dining/wine sampling and Saturday night closing time is 2 am. Although this contributes to hotel noise when the bars/cafes close, the opportunity to indulge in some Rome nightlife more than offsets the annoyance. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a pleasant stay in Rome within walking distance of almost all major attractions, including the Vatican City, the Pantheon, and most other ancient and Christian sites.

This hotel has an excellent location. You can walk to most of the attractions within ten minutes. On Sunday they have a flea marketin the Piazza that was quite lovely and during the week it is a flower and vegtable mart. The hotel itself was lovely. Their breakfast was more than sufficient and the room was large by Europeon standards. The desk employees, particlularly Francesca, were very helpful. My only complaint was the noise from the strret. We were in a front room and people tend to walk down this street to get to a bridge. Their voices would echo and it sounder much louder than they really were. We had the windows open so it was more of an issue than it might have been if we closed the windows. The hotel recommened a resturant, Periluigi. It was excellent as one right off the Piazza that has catacombs in its lower level. Overall, we had an excellent stay and if I ever was to go to Rome again I would stay there again.

An excellent hotel, the best I've stayed in whilst in Rome. A perfect location, within easy walking distance to all the top monuments/sights of Rome. Also in a quiet street, next to the French embassy so is quite safe with no obvious beggars around. The room was very spacious and grand, with a very romantic italian feel to it. Facilities were good and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely come back to stay.

We arrived from Athens, Greece on a Monday afternoon and even though we had confirmed by email a room with a garden view with 2 twin beds (2 women), we were put in this horrible little room (didn't look anything like the rooms listed on the internet), with a view of a wall with big bold graffiti staring at us. The lady at the front desk told us that they didn't have any twin bed rooms with garden views available. Ok, we were there, and decided to try and make the best of it, until I tried to call my husband and the phone didn't work. After several trips down to the front desk, we were informed that someone would fix our phone the next day. This was not acceptable! I insisted that we be moved to another room, which they did. What do you know ... our room we were supposed to get in the first place was there after all. When I told the gentleman at the front desk (the woman had left by this time) that I would like to talk to the manager he told me she would be in the next day, but that she did not speak English so the lady I would be complaining about would have to translate my complaint. I would not know what she was translating, and since we were now in a nice clean room, I opted to forgo the complaint and the translating for that day. When we asked the hotel where we could get dinner we were informed that everything closes in Rome at 17:00 on Mondays. The hotel could only offer us toast, (so much for “Room service - limited hour” that they advertise on the internet). We ate candy and cookies (that we brought from home) for dinner our first night in Rome. I am just glad to say that our three week stay in Greece was a much nicer experience (accommodations wise) than our three day stay in Rome. The breakfast, wait staff and the bellboy however, were nice. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
