Not welcoming, and rude. 1. Air-con did not work - it blew out warm air. The next morning I went to receptiona to advise them and they said they knew.....they let me book-in without telling me the air con was on the blink! 38 degrees outside. 2. That next day came home after a day out in the sun sight seeing to no electricity at all. Again, no response from reception, no status given at all. I had to force information out of them. That night I found alternate accomodation and left at 1am. I asked for that night free but again, night operator could not make that call and said to come back tomorrow. A traveller should not have to put up with this. The web page made it look OK. Don't go...it is old and gruby (but not dirty). I personally would have reported them if I wasnt on a holiday #$@.

This is a terrible hotel. All my baggage, including the passport everything, were stolen. But the boss of the hotel told me that they did not bear any responsibility for this. And as a matter of fact, the hotel and the Paris hotel next to it are runnning by the same one boss. I can provide you with the document issued by the police there for being stolen in that hotel.

I have just stayed one night at this hotel but was enough for not recommending it.Towels in the room were thrown in a table, there was a leak in the bathroom just on top of the toilet. Humidity was all over the bathroom ceiling so the smell was all over the room. Very bad experience.

We stayed 6 nights. Apart from a couple of nights when a group of american students made a lot of noise, we had a pleasant stay. Staff Ok, rooms all right, especially considering the price. Location very practical arriving at an leaving from Termini - Via Nationale - good shopping and quite a few interesting attractions within reasonable walking distance.

Great location in Rome. Close to Termini, Metro and bus lines. You get what you pay for, but it was clean, quiet and convenient. Probably wouldn't stay for an extended stay since the room is quite small. I am middle-aged, thin, 6ft+ tall and had no problems, other folks might have issues. Minor irritation: The elevator is very small and the markings for the various floors are difficult to read. There are two hotels in the same building and on the same floor. Makes it a bit confusing. Overall, a good value and a good location.

Not bad overall, all employees were chinese and it was a bit hard understanding them. Clean whatsoever but needs restoration. Furniture looked as if they were 100 years old, walls need to be painted, and the tiles on the floor were broken. Other than that, it wasn't that bad, but i don't think i would go back there on a future trip to Rome.

There was no cheese in the breakfast. (We stayed there four days.) In the bathroom there was a problem with the plumbing. When we entered the room there was a towel in the floor. Because the floor was wet. We told the employee about it but he pretended that he didn't know about the problem and we had to clean the wet floor every day.

HOTEL: The hotel is in good location for walking to all Roma tourist sightsee area. Walking distance from the main train station (Termini) Very small elevator for going upstairs! Old building, with minimal free space for public. ROOM: The rooms are very spacious. NO frigid, the mini bar is cut out / not working. The light in the room is very weak, hard to read at night. Few old furniture in the room. The television is very small, old generation with very low quality and much less channels.

This hotel has improved 90% over my stay 5 years ago. The bathrooms have been renovated and are spacious and beautiful. We booked a triple and the size was amazing. The main reason why I selected this hotel is its LOCATION, which is the best selling point of the property. Also in future I will choose this hotel so long as the property will not move to other place. However, the TV set of this hotel (or only of my room?) is too old. The number of channels possible with this TV set is very few. The satelite broadcasting is in these days indispensable, isn't it? Besides, the breakfast should be included in the present room price. 5.00EU is too much.

The first two days, the shower was either scalding or ice cold, low pressure and then leaked(flooded)the bathroom floor-it was a regular shower, not a slanted floor. We told them about it, and that fixed the water temperature and pressure problem, but the shower base leaked(flooded) the whole trip. They "misplaced" our room key the 3rd day after having someone "repair" the shower. They finally found a spare later that evening-scary. The window did not secure completely and allowed noise and draft into the room-thank goodness it wasn't summertime! Basically, it is a very old building that required renovations.

E' una struttura gestita da cinesi, poco pulita, rumorosa, e di bassa qualità. Sicuramente l'ubicazione è ideale per visitare la città, ma lo sconsiglierei a chi non ama lo stile "spartano". The breakfast was good enough, although the quality may be wasn't the best. So overall i think it was a good experience

This is a chinese hotel in the center of Rome. If you're expecting lux, don't come here, and search for a 5 star hotel. But if you just want a place to sleep and take a nice bath also, then this is perfect. Very clean rooms, always cleaned daily, very nice and helpfull staff, with great accomodations and facilities. It's really in the center of Rome: you can walk from here to the Termini Station, to the Colosseum, to the Trevi Fountain and to many other places. It's about 50 meters from the Subway station of Repubblica, has a lot of bus that stops in front of the hotel and has a lot of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. I really loved it!

The shower was sub-par by any standards, the water went from freezing to scalding hot through out the entire shower and attempting to adjust the water temperature made no difference whatsoever. The room was also very hot and the air conditioning unit did not work. The lights in the bathroom flickered, and the television set did not work, either that or the remote control did not work. As for cleanliness, the room was somewhat clean, the sheets and bedding were clean and changed daily, but there were old beer cans strewn behind the small wardrobe, which I noticed because I dropped something and it rolled underneath the bed. The continental breakfast was also not that good, it included stale-ish croissants, cooked ham, jam, butter, and some kind-of buns with powdered sugar on them, but I wasn't expecting much more than that after I saw the room.

DO NOT STAY HERE. This is the 6th different hotel I've stayed at in Rome, all of which were rated three or more stars. This one was so disgusting, I cannot even compare it to the others I've been in. Outside of my window was a rotting bag of McDonald's food. The wall paper was peeling off the walls. The shower literally fell apart when I went to use it - and heaven help you if you're bigger than a size 6, because the door opening was just wide enough to get past and inside the glass box, which made it very difficult to escape when the water flipped constantly between extremely hot and freezing cold, which was good, because at least the burns on my skin were soothed. The bed was a cot with springs poking me all night. The hallway was something out of a Hitchcock film - the lights were barely on and flashing, the hallway was dank and dim, dirty, with piles of dirty laundry in it. The towels were threadbare and the toilet seat didn't fit the toilet! I went to the front desk to tell them the air conditioning wasn't working. She told me to turn it on and wait an hour. After an hour, I went back down, and the woman at the front desk yelled at me. I had to threaten to call the police just to get someone to come up to the room, and when they did, they had to use a ten foot pole to flip a switch at the ceiling to turn on the air conditioner! And I'm the stupid American who can't get the AC on!!! I am so thankful I was only stuck here one night, because I honestly would have had to leave. THIS HOTEL WAS A NIGHTMARE!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

The room was un air conditioned. The desk insisted that it was airconditioned and told me that I didn't know how to work it. They said that some one would come up, no one did. Everytime I asked at the desk what was going to be done, I was essentialy laughed off. Very bad attitude, sort like we got you here now go to hell and shut up. Horrible atitude!!!!!!

This was my 2nd visit to Rome. I was staying only 2 days this time. I have to consider the convenient location not far from Termini when comparing price/spaciousness of the room. Being by myself, I did not expect a large room. In the immediate vicinity were several 4&5 star hotels. My room was furnished with a comfortable single bed. The chair, bureau, and armoir were 50's everyday furniture and had not been updated in forever. The room seemed to have a dark tone. The staff was competent and polite, but not overly friendly. To get to the reception area, you had to go up several stairs to the elevator, then go up to the 1st floor to reception. This could be a problem for a guest with lots of luggage. The worst thing however, was the shower. It fluctuated from icy cold to actually scalding hot moment by moment. Only in the transition phase was the water temperature comfortable.

I can't understand how this is a 3 star hotel. You have to get up 8-9 large steps to reach the lift which can carry you and 1 suitcase, we had a buggy which need to be folded prior to getting in, if somebody has kept the lift doors open at upstairs it doesn't come down, so you have to be lucky every time. The reception and staff was quite rude and non welcoming, we asked for a couple of plates from the kitchen and they don't oblige for silly reasons. The room had lousy decorations with torn wall papers and stains on it. Overall this type of hotel should not be listed into any star catagory.

Hi, considering the fact that we've payed EUR 120,- a night, we rate the rooms of Hotel Repubblica below our expectations. Most disappointing were the bathroom facilities. The shower cabine was of very low diy qualility and broke. The water tap of the shower was broke, causing it to produce burning hot and freezing cold water uncontrollably. Very annoying and dangerous. No real efforts were undertaken to fix this despite our repetitive complaints. The same applies to the refrigerator and television that didn't work. At some point the problem proved to be that only one power outlet in our room was in working order. Another issue we had was with the 2 separate beds that would move apart on every slight move. We ended up tying the legs together using parts of the drapes. Breakfast is very basic, not many variations to choose from and very simple (no fresh coffee and tea and no fresh juices but all from machines, only one kind of bread etc.). Also the room was really noisy with traffic rushing by at considerable speeds. But that probably comes with staying in the center of a city like Rome... The fact that the hotel is situated in the city center is actually its best feature anyway. All interesting locations, shops and restaurants etc. are at walking distance, a metro stop and Termini train station are very nearby. So it's safe to say that despite our issues with hotel Republicca we had a great romantic stay in Rome. I would recommend it to anyone, but finding a nice and affordable hotel is probably a challenge.

I would never stay here this was the most over priced place we stayed and literally everything broke in the hotel, the bathroom doors fell off, the towel rack, fell off there was mold everywhere in the bathroom, the windows didnt shut or lock, they had breakfast at 7.30 in the morning. and wouldnt open it a minute before. I mean how many people have a flight in the morning or have business meetings at 8am. If you cant get your cup of coffee until 7.40 what good is this. The people at the front were not very friendly. Walking in through the fron where the sign isnt even all working it looks like the place is in shambles... there is no obvious sign down stairs we finally figured it out just by climbing the stairs we stayed in hostels that were nicer than this. the window was right next to a very popular bar below. The bed was super hard. definitely the cheapest mattress around. No compurters or internet to log on. OK the good is that the room was a decent size, there was a toilet and bedei(sp?), and once you actually got out of the hallway and into the "hotel" part of the building it looked pretty ok. still nothing like most 3 star hotels but nicer than a hostel there was a sofa to sit on in the hall.

Location was a little futher from center than expected. Curtains in both the room and bath were yellow stained which made you wonder immediately about cleanliness. Another coat of paint would also help. 2nd night, a small roach was seen in tub. Bathroom continually smelled like perm solution each time fan was on. A hairdryer must be hot and have pressure to actually dry hair. Noise was deafening (had to sleep with earplugs). There was no notice instructing elevator usage so elevator was usually not available. 13" does not a T.V. make and "satellite" service consisted of 6 channels that were barely visible. Bedsheets were not changed last evening of stay. By Eouropean criteria alone, this should be rated as a 2 star at most.

we only stayed one night, we should have stay longer, we were stuck in a worser hotel, Hotel Texas around the corner, which made this hotel very nice and clean, staff here is very helpful, room is spacious and nice, we didnot have time to have breakfast because we have to leave early in the morning, they could have offer something for the road but they didn't, otherwise they would have score 9 and 10 out of 10

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and I`m not impressed. The sink in the bathroom was smashed, the doors in the shower that was supposed to slide did`nt. The walls in the bedroom had different colours because of waterdamage and the wallpaper was just about to fall of. I know it was a cheap hotel, but it should have been even cheaper with this standard.

Stuff att reception not very interested. I felt like a schoolchild waiting for my turn while they had no time to even look up at me or talk to me when I had something to say. They were allways busy with telephonecalls and other things. At first I didn´t got any contact at all, while talking to them. Ex: the TV-set was not functioning - they were not interested - did not look up at all...Did not do anything!
