Travelled with my mum for a 5 night stay at The Raffaello- to sum up it is excellent value for money. A ten mintue walk from the Termini station (walk down Via Cavour (there is a huge pharmacy sign on the corner of this road to help you find it), then turn right at the grand steps of the gorgeous Santa Maria Maggiore basilica then first left and it is one block down, so a great location, the breakfast buffet was excellent- loads of choice of pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt and the scrambled eggs were delicious, there is no hot drink facilities in the rooms but there is a coffee machine in the lobby for use whenever you want (we took the coffee up to our rooms with us) and the staff were really helpful and friendly. I notice a few other people commented on the size of the room and yes the room is small but it is twice the size of one I paid double for in Paris last year, and in terms of value for money (i.e. what you pay and what you get) I thought it was really excellent. The only negative was the 'comedy' shower- it is one of those ones that has loads of different (and unnecessary) settings- but actually you just want the basic one and it took a while to figure out, the water was always hot thoug and to be honest this is a minor quibble in what was an otherwise very comfortable and welcoming stay.

We once again had a great time in Rome. The Hotel is located very quietly but still very central. You can reach everything by foot. The breakfast was very good. I would return any time. Two single rooms were very small by USA standards, but this was not a surprise. First time in Rome. Price might be average for the this location but seemed very high in comparison to bookings in Amsterdam, Brugge, and Venice the previous two weeks. However, hotel staff was great and room was very quiet, continental breakfast was very good.

My sister and I arrived in Rome first on our first trip to Italy. We chose Raffaello because of it's charm in the photo's and we were not disappointed. Eduardo the front desk person was very friendly and knowledgeable. Language was not a problem. Our room was a little small but it was a very pleasant experience. The continental breakfast was yummy. All in all a most enjoyable stay.

Rooms were very nice and quality to price was good. Short walk to both train station and Coliseum. Staff were pleasant enough but not really out going like in some of our stays. They answered questions but really didn't have time to give you much in suggestions for anything. This makes a difference when you are not familiar with an area.

The Raffaello is a great little hotel. Our room was on one of the top floors which had a balcony and a great view of the surrounding area. Sunrises were a treat. We had a warm welcome even though we arrived late at night and the staff were extremely helpful our entire 3 night stay. They even managed to get breakfast started early for us on the morning we had an early bus trip. The breakfasts are also great. Plenty of restaurants up the hill in the main street. Also the train station and the red hop on hop off buses are only a short walk. You may not think it but some of the main attractions are walking distance from the hotel, so don’t be afraid to put your walking shoes on the walk itself was an event.

This hotel is extremely well located, within walking distance of both the Termini station (which has a direct train to the airport), and the major tourist attractions in Rome. Overall it's nicely decorated and quite stylish. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and all spoke excellent English. I booked a single room which although rather small, was attractively decorated, well equipped, clean and with a small but functional bathroom. This room was also a bargain considering the area and quality of the hotel.

This is a very nice hotel conveniently located near a metro stop. Breakfast was very nicely done and the availability was lengthy. Most of the staff were very helpful and accomodating. They all spoke English well, so there was no communication problems. They were helpful in arranging a private taxi and the taxi was right on time.

All the staff - from the different concierges to the maids - were positive and helpfull. Their recommendations were always reliable, and most staff spoke English very well. The room was even better: Good bed, enough space, window into quiet street, so very little outside noise got in. Good curtains, nice bathroom, rather quick internet axcess, flat-screen TV (however, 200 channels with nothing on but Italian game shows, but then again, we were not in Rome to watch telly). The shower was too small, however. Raffaello might have been the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed at - or so it seemed! Breakfast was ok; what they lack in sortiment they regain with very quick and polite service. Some more fresh fruit would have been nice, though. Breakfast is included, which is good. Raffaello has a brilliant location; except for Trastevere and the Vatican, virtually all of Rome is within 25 minutes of walking. The area between the Termini train station (from where you reach the airport) and the hotel is seedy, but takes only 10 minutes. The Colosseum, Forum Romanum, The Pantheon, The Spanish steps and the rest of the cosy old city centre is within 15 minutes of walking. No taxi needed at all - the Roman Metro was surprisingly effective and VERY cheap at 1 euro per ticket. (Not needing to take a taxi was a great plus - the only taxi trip we took nearly killed us, as expected.) At 120-130 euro a night the Raffaello is the best value for money I have experienced for a long time.

The rooms are clean and spacious. We did have a lot of trouble finding the hotel, so make sure you bring the address and phone number. It is located 100yds from the metro which is very convenient. My husband and I frequent Rome and and stayed in many hotels there and Raffeallo is our "to go" place to stay. Breakfast was AMAZING!

The hotel was excellent, spacious rooms, recently renovated, clean, the personnel was very polite and helpful. The breakfast did not have much variety, the surroundings were nice and it was located 5 blocks from the subway station, and 15 min walk from the train station where we took the train to and from the airport. I would definitely recommend it for a stay in Rome. On a different note should you decide to use one of these double deck site-seeing buses DO NOT choose "CIAO ROMA". It is the one located closest to the hotel, but also the one with the least frequent buses - if they pass at all!!!

The location of the Raffaello was ideal for us because we had a lot of luggage. It is centrally located within walking distance of the main train station and metro stop. The room and staff were great and the breakfast was wonderful. Considering the room was located overlooking the street and we were in Rome for the Champions Cup final, the room was very quiet. We would recommend the Raffaello for anyone, particularily those travelling on a budget.

My wife and I spent the first two nights of our honeymoon at Hotel Raffaello and it was lovely. Close to the Termini was good for us arriving and walking distance to Colosseum. The room was very smart and we had a small balcony. The best thing about the hotel was the advice of the chap at the front desk about restaurants - they were excellent! ALSO - the access to top floor bar next to Pantheon - AMAZING! Certainly reccomend it. To balance the view, the location wasn't too great for Pantheon etc but cab was ok. Also bathrooms were nice but shower cubicles were rather tiny! Overall very good feeling though.

Stayed three nights, rented two triple rooms. First time in Rome, so I have never been to any other hotel, but I was very pleased with this hotel. For some reason the triple on the third floor was narrower than the triple on the second floor, so if you have a choice, choose the second floor. Great breakfast, most delicious scrambled eggs! Fresh juices, wonderful coffee, pastries, fruits- mmmm. Quiet location near Santa Maria Maggiore, easy walk to Cavour Metro stop. Got a great rate on the airport shuttle- cheaper than arranging for two taxis even after including the tip. Check-in was easy, and the desk staff were welcoming and knew many languages. We arrived early in the day and they were happy to hold our luggage for us while we went to see some sights. Beds were firm, shower was powerful and rooms were very clean. I would happily stay here again!

We stayed at hotel Raffaello for 2 nights during holiday in early March, 2009. Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from Termini Train Station and Sta. Maria Magdalena basilica, as well as other sites of interest in Rome. Very attentive and helpful staff at front desk and breakfast room. Breakfast buffet was quite complete with fresh breads/ pastries and fruits. Double room was clean; size comparable with other European hotels. Nice set of bathroom toiletries provided. Shower stall was quite cramped, but adequate for daily showers. (An obese person might have difficulty with this small size). Water pressure and temperature control were perfectly fine. Small lift/elevator enabled us to carry suitcases to room without having to walk up several flights (fourth floor) carrying these up the stairs. In summary, a fine hotel. Would definitely recommend it to others and stay there again.

Excellent, recently refurbished (to a high standard) accommodation. Location is excellent, especially if you are travelling from the airport via Termini. Very helpful staff - we had great tips for two local restaurants. Breakfast room can be a little crowded, but buffet is plentiful and fresh, with hardworking staff. Rooms are delightful, but shower (very modern, with assorted jets from head to toe) is a little cramped, in an otherwise spacious bathroom. Nice welcoming touch of chocolates on the pillows (one being a 'Raffaello'). Lift stops between floors, so you always have about ten stairs to get from lift to your floor. Have already recommended the hotel to others.

We were very happy with our welcome at this hotel, arriving as we did from Australia at 8am. They were able to get us into our room several hours before the official check-in time. The staff at the desk were particularly helpful at all times. Breakfast was very good. We found the location to be great: walking distance to the Coliseum & Roman Forum, close to the Underground transport system,& very near the beautiful basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. It was very central but also very quiet at night. The only thing we weren't so pleased with was the tiny shower recess - really not a big deal overall! We would certainly stay there again.

Hotel Raffaello staff are friendly, speak good English and are very helpful plus there's a good breakfast included. The hotel was ideally suited for a trip to Rome as long as you are using the Airport to Train station route. There is a lack of good restaurants near the hotel, these are mainly located in the Trastevere district, but shopping for clothes is an easy Metro trip away, albeit hard on the wallet. My stay of 3 nights was perfectly suited to the hotel location. A tourist travel ticket, available in the Termini station, called the Roma Pass gives virtually unlimited travel on all buses and local trains for three days, plus a trip back to the Airport and free entrance to the first two tourist sites. (I chose the Roman Forum 12euros and Castel S. Angelo 8euros, which paid the 20euro cost of the Roma Pass itself.) Highly recommend the Hotel.

This is a decent hotel, well located close to the Termini offering an ample service to those unable to blow the budget on the more up-market hotels in Rome. We paid an average price for a room in November, and were not disappointed. The rooms are on the small side, but perfectly adequate, with a clean and well stocked bathroom. Breakfasts are good, with friendly staff offering coffee and replenishing the buffet! Being located off Via Cavour, there was noise until the early hours (mostly traffic rather than anything untoward), but we noticed this was mainly on Saturday night. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance but avoid the pizza restaurants closest to the hotel as these do not offer value for money - ironically, the restaurants just a bit further down the road towards the Forum are much better value and offer a wider choice on the menu! Also, don't forget to take cash to restaurants as many waiters still wince at the sight of credit cards! Lots of great sites are within a short(ish) walk (eg, Colleseum, Forum and Quirinale)but be prepared for a longer walk to The Spanish Steps, Pantheon etc. This shouldn't put you off staying at this hotel, however, as wherever you stay in Rome, you'll end up walking for miles! Just pepper the walk with frequent breaks for espressos or cappucinos!

We were really happy with the quality of amenities and service provided at Raffeallo. It's walking distance from the train station which is a big plus in Rome. Rooms are clean and well appointed. the front desk staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The breakfast was great too. Its a little bit of a distance to the popular attractions but we didnt mind it because the closer you get to the tourist attractions, the noisier and pricier it gets. Overall we had a great stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Our experience with the Hotel Rafaello was excellent. We stayed in a double. The room was very clean. The bathroom was large and well kept (including very hot water). The staff were very nice and helpful. Try to eat breakfast a few minutes before 9:00. They play music on tape (in English) and the song "Sexual Eruption" will be heard (rates a 10/10 on the unintential comedy scale). We stayed in 2 places while visiting Rome so as to "cover more ground". The location of Hotel Rafaello between the Termini train station and the Colloseum was ideal. The hotel is also situated very close to the subway (Via Cavour). Great restaurants nearby (go to La Carbonara). Besides Ancient Rome, wonderful sites to visit very close to the hotel include the church housing St. Peters in chains and Michaelangelo's Moses (amazing), the church of Mary Maggiore, and the National Museum (Get the Roma Pass at the Termini and you will avoid all lines at the Colliseum and get a great deal on admission fees to many sites).

First time at Hotel Raffaello. Good sized room, nice and clean and a fair sized bathroom and air conditioning, a must in the summer. Close to Colosseum, Palatine Hill etc. Breakfast was superb. All the food was very fresh. Scrambled and boiled eggs on offer along with choices of juices, cereals, yogurts, rolls, toast, pastries, cold meats, cheese, fresh fruit etc. The staff spoke English but a wee bit wobbly on understanding all that was said. We had a small problem with the air conditioning in that it was condensing/leaking on to their carpet. That didn't seem to have been sorted although it didn't really affect our stay that much. In saying that the staff were all friendly and willing to help. Would definitely stay there again though it was a bit more expensive than we would usually want to pay. However location, good decor, good sized comfortable room, great breakfast along with the use of a free safe in the room would probably make it worthwhile.

This is a really excellent hotel. Location is superb. 10 minute walk from Termini (which is the metro hub and also the intercity and airport train hub)and 10 minute walk from Colosseum/Roman Forum. This means that the major tourist attractions are within easy access. On the same street as the hotel are several nice, cheap places to eat. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good quaility. Hotel is very clean and nicely decorated. Room was lovely, clean and well decorated. The size was also sufficient. Finally, Rome is also a fantastic city! Close to the Train Station, don't walk!!! Too much if you walk with your bags.. And the streets are in blocks, soo really hard to carry your bags.. Nice Room, the area around the Hotel, not sure.. Nothing happens to us, but didn't look really safe even when we walked all the time from the hotel, even at night.. The personal at the front desk were serious, but helpful, really good english. The hotel and room was very charming. Breakfast was good. Although it is only a short walk from the Termini train station, we elected to take the 5 minute taxi ride to save us toting our large bags over the cobblestone streets of Rome. After our first hesitations, we used the subway - where we could get on at Termini - and found it an excellent way to get to some of the farther points (Vatican) that we wanted to see. We arrived early at the Rafaello, and they graciously put all 8 pieces of our luggage (there were 6 of us) behind their front desk until our rooms were ready. The staff patiently circled directions on our map each morning and offered suggestions and tips for our daily sightseeing. The Rafaello includes a breakfast each morning which included eggs (cooked 3 different ways) croissants, rolls, salami, cheese, sweet rolls, cereals, fresh fruit and juices - and fantastic coffee! What a great way to start our days! We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and will stay there during our next visit to Rome!

Gorgeous hotel - decor and cleanliness surpassing some five star hotels - dare I say at times opulent? Wood paneling and blue carpeting everywhere. Surpassed our expectations! The hotel is located on a quiet street off right off a major avenue, about 20 minutes to the forum. Only gripe is lack of good restaurants in immediate vicinity, but there are plenty within about 10-15 minute walk.

Staff nice and efficient, but some do not speak french, no problem if you speak English. Happy breakfast, with a good choice of various food, and staff especially nice and friendly. We had one of the top floor room: comfortable, clean, very quiet, with a nice terrace. Ideally located: outside of traffic, closed to the train, tube and buses stations, a lot of historical sites (and restaurants too) at foot distance.

This was my husband's first time in Italy and we were there for 10 days in various cities. This hotel was very much as advertised and we were very comfortable. The room was very clean and decently sized. Mattress firmer than I would have liked. One desk clerk was very helpful and the other was not particularly helpful. Breakfast was fine. I would recommend this hotel.

Everything was perfect except the front desk staff. They were very professional, competent, and answered our questions, however, it would have been nicer if they were a bit more friendly and welcoming when we got there.

For a sister hotel of del Senato this hotel does not meet the same standards. The price was lower, but the staff and location were not comparable. The rooms were too hot.

Very satisfied of our stay in Hotel Raffaelo. We were at 5th floor with a nice terrasse. Quiet street, 10 minutes walk from Termini station, 3 minutes from Cavour underground station. Good base to explore Roma by foot.Good breakfast. Helpful concierge for restaurant reservation. I would recommand you.

Warmly welcomed by front desk staff despite our very early arrival on New Year's Day. Obliging friendly staff. Excellent breakfast each morning. Most staff spoke some English which was appreciated. We had a three day stay in Rome and hotel was ideally located - close enough to the main railway station to be able to walk to it but far enough away from the noise etc. Walking distance to a lot of the major attractions such as Colesseum, Roman Forum, underground station. My advice is to wear comfortable shoes and try walking everywhere to soak up the atmosphere and really see what the city is like. The three day museum pass was good value.

We stayed at Raffaello for 4 days over Christmas. The hotel is a 10 minute walking distance from the Termini train station, 10 minutes walk from Colosseum, 2 minutes from Santa Maria Maggiore, and 3 minutes from the Cavour subway station. Overall a very convenient location. The staff was helpful and very welcoming and honest about what is best for us. Upon our arrival on the Christmas eve we discovered an icy bottle of champaign with some appetizers placed for us in our room, compliments of the hotel! The breakfast was sufficient, served efficiently in a nice tidy area, but do not expect a large variety of foods to choose from. On the downside I need to mention the lack of carpeting on the room's floor especially given the fact that it is tiled and there are no slippers offered. On the other side the bathroom in our room (standard double suite) was almost the size of the room. The walls of the room were upholstered in fabric which was a nice touch of style and contributed to sound-proofing a bit. Overall the stay was enjoyable and I would recommend the hotel for its price / quality ratio, the staff and the location.

Most of the staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Hotel Raffaello is very conveniently situated within walking distance of main railway station with good connections to airport, and close to many tourist attractions too. Being in a back street, it is also very quiet. It is not in an area where there are many restaurants, but it is adequately served. A small bar in the hotel would complement the existing facilities, although there is a mini-bar in the bedroom. Tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom would also be a good addition. We really enjoyed our stay here.

The design is the standard hotel poshy guilt something, but both the room and the bathroom were clean and spacious, and the bed comfortable. Besides, the place is easily reachable both from the main sites and from the train station.

Rooms are evidently variable. Ours was excellent--spacious, with a roof terrace. Our companions had a smaller room that did not justify the same cost. The hotel is on a side street, so very quiet for central Rome. No restaurant or bar, which was not a problem since there were lots in the area. Tiny lift. Decent breakfast except for sugary drinks in place of real juice. Two suggestions for simple, inexpensive improvements: a shower curtain (very important to avoid a choice between splashing or uncomfortable squatting) and a few hooks in the bathroom.

We had a quad with 2 adjoining rooms. Each was spacious. The bathroom was compact but clean and well appointed. It was exceptionally quiet and very convenient to the train station- perhaps a ten minute walk. Urban Street is an interesting street with a pizzeria and candy store recommended by Bon Appetite. There are some good places to eat dinner as well. The breakfast was very good- a nice selection with excellent hot beverages. One or our party needed ice for her back and the staff was excellent in helping her out.

It was nice, but not great. The location wasn't quite as nice as expected, but I had never been to Rome before so I really didn't know where to stay. We had a homeless person sleeping a few feet from our doorstep every night which isn't what you want to be confronted with every morning.

We stayed at this hotel twice in our trip: on arriving in Rome and the night before leaving. We had 2 different rooms, so our experiences were different. The first room was a top floor unit with huge rooftop patio. This was fantastic, as it gave us a place to relax. The second room was without the patio and less interesting and at a much higher rate than our first stay. The surrounding area is very convenient for all of the normal sites and about a 15 minute walk from the train station. The area in one direction goes past some homeless folks but they didn't bother us. The selection of restaurants is good, but not outstanding. The staff was courtesy but level of service was spotty. We had only a single plastic cup in our room and getting some decent glasses for wine took some doing. On one stay, the front desk was not helpful at all for finding a good restaurant, while on our last night we had a fantastic dinner arranged for us, so it depends on who's on duty. Overall a comfortable place and location in the middle of the action in Rome, assuming you can get a room for a good price and especially if you can get one of the patio units.

We stayed at the Raffaello for 4 nights. The Hotel is situated off the busy and noisey main roads and in easy walking distance to surrounding restaurants and shops etc. The breakfast was of a typical good continental standard. We would be happy to recommend this hotel to our friends for future visits. The bedroom was compact with a very nice bathroom and Jaccuzzi shower unit.

Although a little expensive for a 3 star hotel we believe it was worth the money. The hotel is clean and in good decorative order. The staff are friendly with English spoken at reception and in breakfast room. Our room was very comfortable as was the bed and we had a lovely view over rooftops. The bathroom was a reasonable size with a very good shower and good toiletries were provided. Only criticism of bathroom was a lack of shelving and clothes hanger The usual range of cereals, cold meats, yoghurts, fruit etc for breakfast together with delicious scrambled egg. Plenty of everything. The location of the hotel is excellent, about 8-l0 minutes walk from Termini and just about l00 metres off Via Cavour on narrow little cobbled street. Despite being so close to Via Cavour it is quiet and safe. It is no more than l0 minutes from the Colosseum and it is easy to reach any part of the city by foot or public transport. A must-see just round the corner from the hotel is Santa Maria Maggiore. So plain from outside but inside it is just wonderful. Overall I would say Hotel Raffaelo is good value for money, is in an excellent location and is comfortable and welcoming with good breakfast.

This is quite simply a stunning hotel for the price! We were in Rome for two weeks with friends, who stayed at other hotels, and we were the envy of them all, both in the fact that we paid less than them, and had vastly superior rooms and service than them! The staff spoke excellent English, the breakfast was superb and the rooms and linen spotlessly clean. Bathrooms were excellent, with brilliant showers. Couldn't hear any of the other rooms at all.

The hotel was absolutely fantastic. We went there for my wifes 40th Birthday and although I hadn't asked for anything when we returned on the afternoon of her birthday, there was a bottle of champagne and snacks in our room which I though was a lovely touch. All this was done from seeing some birthday cards. the staff were really helpful and spoke excellent English. I would definatley recommend this hotel and would visit it again when I return to Rome, which is definately going to happen.

I paid a significant price for my stay in this room and did not receive good service and a nice room in return. The hotel was unable to provide a room with working airconditioning. When I asked for the problem to be fixed, it was implied that I was being unreasonable and airconditioning is not needed. Breakfast provided very few choices and was offered in a small space without adequate room to sit comfortably. The evening staff was unfriendly and made very little effort. There was no bellboy available to help with our bags. This hotel does not meet the standard of others we have stayed at in Italy. I do not recommend this hotel.

Four of us stayed in two double rooms for one night in Hotel Raffaello. The location was excellent. Very quiet part of Rome - away from noise, hustle and bustle but 10 minutes walk from the Ancient city. Lovely Hotel with the advantage of family rooms (so bringing small kids would not be a problem). Good restaurants close by........I'd happily come back.

One always feels a little tentative booking a sight unseen hotel reservation for a major vacation. I selected the Raffaello Hotel based on the reviews that had been submitted. Let me say, the hotel not only lived up to the review scores, I actually thought it was better that what on-line scores reflected. This is an outstanding place to say. The caliber of both the facilities and the staff is excellent and the location is wonderful. The only thing 5-star facilities have on this place are large lobbies, exercise rooms, and other such amenities. The quality of the room and staff at the Raffaello is every bit as good. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again when I go back to Rome.

On arrivalwe were allocated a very nice room on the 4th floor, but as my wife does not like elevators we were immediately given a room on the 1st floor. This room was not as bright and spacious as the room on the 4th floor, but still adequate and was more suited to our immediate needs. Room was very quiet. Good breakfast. Excellent location and price / quality. We booked a taxi to the airport at reception. The taxi was on time and we were charged only the price that reception told us.

My first visit to Rome. My husband's second. He was so impressed with the city he wanted to take me. It is the most amazing city-although very expensive! We found the Raffaello through 'Rome Heaven' and the comments written by other guests were reasonably accurate, although obviously subjective. We looked for British comments-Americans have a different set of criteria to us!The area around the hotel was OK and there were several restaurants within a short distance. We walked to all the sights, except the Vatican, from the hotel and the bus/train/metro termini was 10 minutes walk(longer with luggage!
